The paper presents two methods for the formulation of free vibration analysis of collecting electrodes of precipitators. The first, called the hybrid finite element method, combines the finit element method used for calculations of spring deformations with the rigid finite element method used to reflect mass and geometrical features, which is called the hybrid finite element method. As a result,a model with a diagonal mass matrix is obtained.Due to a specific geometry of the electrodes, which are long plates of complicated shapes, the second method proposed is the strip method which is a semi-analytical method. The strip method allows us to formulate the equations of motion with a considerably smaller number of generalized coordinates. Results of numerical calculations obtained by both methods are compared with those obtained using commercial software like ANSYS and ABAQUS.Good compatibility of results is achieved. 展开更多

Soft robots,as a modern gateway to unlocking the mysteries of underwater realms, present new complexities.Modeling their behavior when in contact with external forces, whether point-based or distributed,is a primary challenge due to the nature of soft bodies. To obtain a holistic view of the system’s behavior determining the governing dynamics is deemed necessary. This paper proposes a new technique to simulate the dynamic lateral undulation of a soft robotic fish with a cable-driven soft tail.By integrating the rigid finite element method with rigid-body robotics, the model represents the undulation of a finite number of rigid elements connected through a set of torsional spring and damper.Instead of directly modeling external forces,we substitute equivalent joint torques into the system dynamics, allowing us to consider external effects without complicating the model. The resulting model yields valuable insights into the system’s behavior, including propulsive and lateral forces.A comparison with experimental results shows strong agreement, with a tip amplitude error of 10% at 0.8 Hz,5.25% at 1.6 Hz and 2.54%at 2.2 Hz flapping frequency. These findings illuminate the influence of lateral undulation on the overall dynamics, paving the way for fully autonomous robotic fish. 展开更多

Common compliant joints generally have limited range of motion, reduced fatigue life and high stress concentration. To overcome these shortcomings, periodically corrugated cantilever beam is applied to design compliant joints. Basic corrugated beam unit is modeled by using pseudo-rigid-body method. The trajectory and deformation behavior of periodically corrugated cantilever beam are estimated by the transformation of coordinate and superposition of the deformation of corrugated beam units. Finite element analysis(FEA) is carried out on corrugated cantilever beam to estimate the accuracy of the pseudo-rigid-body model. Results show that the kinetostatic behaviors obtained by this method, which has a relative error less than 6%, has good applicability and corrugated cantilever beam has the characteristics of a large range of motion and high mechanical strength. The corrugated cantilever beam is then applied to design a flexible rotational joint to obtain a larger angle output. The paper proposes a pseudo-rigid-body model for corrugated cantilever beam and designed a flexible rotational joint with large angle output. 展开更多

The nonlinear analysis of pounding between bridge deck segments subjected to multi-support excitations and multi-dimensional earthquake motion was performed.A novel bottom rigid element(BRE)method of the current displacement input model for structural seismic analysis under the multi-support excitations was used to calculate structural dynamic response. In the analysis, pounding between adjacent deck segments was considered. The seismic response of a multi-span bridge subjected to the multi-support excitation, considering not only the traveling-wave effect and partial coherence effect, but also the seismic non-stationary characteristics of multi-support earthquake motion, was simulated using finite element method(FEM).Meanwhile, the seismic response of the bridge under uniform earthquake was also analyzed. Finally, comparative analysis was conducted and some calculation results were shown for pounding effect, under multi-dimensional and multi-support earthquake motion, when performing seismic response analysis of multi-span bridge.Compared with the case of uniform/multi-support/multi-support and multi-dimensional earthquake input, the maximum values of pounding force in the case of multi-support and multi-dimensional earthquake input increase by about 5 8 times;the absolute value of bottom moment and shear force of piers increase by about50%600%and 23.1%900%,respectively.A conclusion can be given that it is very necessary to consider the pounding effect under multi-dimensional and multi-support earthquake motion while performing seismic response analysis of multi-span bridge. 展开更多

On the basis of in situ investigation and deformation monitoring of the Jijia River landslide (JJRL), the rigid body limit equilibrium method and finite element method (FEM) were used to analyze the stability of the JJRL; the grey system theory method was applied to forecast the deformation trend of the JJRL; and the information system about the landslide deformation and monitoring, and forecasting systems based on the platform of the Web Geographical Information System (WebGIS) were developed, which can be used to analyze in situ monitoring data and predict the deformation of the landslide. The study results can be summarized as follows: (1) the JJRL is stable as a whole; the water content in the landslide has a great effect on its stability; (2) the developed Web Geographical Information System has realized many functions, including inputting, computing, inquiry, analyzing, and the function of forecasting; it has also realized the functions of distance data management, analysis, and forecasting based on the WebGIS; (3) the information resource can be shared by the WebGIS developed all over the world. 展开更多

In order to improve the stability of the slope and prevent the occurrence of landslide disaster, this study took the east slope of the first mining area of Zhundong Open-pit Coal Mine as the engineering background, and used a combination of the two-dimensional limit equilibrium method and three-dimensional numerical simulation to optimize the shape of the east slope.By selecting a typical calculation profile based on the Bishop method and the residual thrust method in the two-dimensional rigid body limit equilibrium method, this research carried out the stability analysis of the profile slope, and preliminarily designed the slope shape of the profile position meeting the requirements of the safety reserve coefficient and stripping ratio.Based on the three-dimensional finite element strength reduction method, this paper investigated the reasonably change of the width of the transport plate to solve the problem of the slope shape that does not meet the requirements of safety reserve coefficient and stripping ratio, and established a three-dimensional numerical simulation model of various schemes. It also studied the influence of different tracking distances and slope angles on slope stability, calculated the threedimensional stability of the slope under different spatial forms, then determined the optimal tracking distance and optimal slope angle, and further optimize the slope stability and stripping ratio. The results show that:when the width of the transport plate of the DBS3 section slope is 8 m,it does not meet the requirement of safety reserve coefficient 1.2;when the width of the transport plate is set to 24 m,it meets the requirement of a safety reserve coefficient of 1.2 and an economic stripping ratio of not more than 8.0 m^(3)/t.The three-dimensional numerical simulation results concluded that the optimal tracking distance on the east side is 50 m,and the optimal slope angle is 35.After the optimization design of a two-dimensional and three-dimensional slope shape,2.456 million tons of coal resources were mined, creating a profit of about 21.1268 million yuan.It not only prevents landslide disasters, but also further improve the recovery rate of coal resources. 展开更多

This paper shows that for DEM simulations of triaxial tests using samples with a grading that is repre- sentative of a real soil, the sample size significantly influences the observed material response. Four DEM samples with identical initial states were produced: three cylindrical samples bounded by rigid wails and one bounded by a cubical periodic cell, When subjected to triaxial loading, the samples with rigid boundaries were more dilative, stiffer and reached a higher peak stress ratio than the sample enclosed by periodic boundaries. For the rigid-wall samples, dilatancy increased and stiffness decreased with increasing sample size, The periodic sample was effectively homogeneous, The void ratio increased and the contact density decreased close to the rigid walls, This heterogeneity reduced with increasing sample size. The positions of the critical state lines (CSLs) of the overall response in e-log p' space were sensitive to the sample size, although no difference was observed between their slopes. The critical states of the interior regions of the rigid-wall-bounded samples approached that of the homogeneous periodic sample with increasing sample size. The ultimate strength of the material at the critical state is independent of sample size. 展开更多
