Methionine,an essential sulfur-containing amino acid, plays a vital role in animal and human nutrition. However, its levels are typically low in crop plants, thereby limiting their overall nutritional value.Methionine deficiency negatively impacts growth, development, and physiological functions, contributing to impaired conditions such as reduced immune response, reduced reproductive capacity, defective protein synthesis, bone disorders, hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis(Navik et al.,2021).To mitigate these effects, synthetic methionine is commonly supplemented in food and animal feed, particularly in Western countries.Dietary methionine enrichment has been shown to alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation, support glucose homeostasis, and improve bone, kidney, and liver health(Navik et al.,2021). 展开更多
