Reservoir-induced landslides in China's Three Gorges Reservoir area are prone to tensile cracks due to the influenceof their own weight and fluctuationsin water levels.The presence of cracks indicates that the ten...Reservoir-induced landslides in China's Three Gorges Reservoir area are prone to tensile cracks due to the influenceof their own weight and fluctuationsin water levels.The presence of cracks indicates that the tensile stress in the area has exceeded the tensile strength of the soil,leading to local instability.To explore the impact of tensile failure behavior on the stability and failure modes of reservoir landslides,the Huangtupo Riverside Slump#1 is taken as a case study.By considering local tensile failure,potential tensile cracks are incorporated into the analysis via the limit equilibrium method and reliability theory.The reliability of landslides under different tensile failure scenarios is quantified.Strain-softening characteristics of the soil are combined to further analyze the failure transmission path of the landslide.Finally,these potential failure modes were validated through physical model tests.The results show that cracks developing at rear positions reduce the stability of the slope and increase the probability of instability.During the destruction process,retrogressive failures with multiple sliding surfaces are likely to occur.However,tensile failure at the forefront reduces the likelihood of an individual slide mass descending.Progressive failure results in both regular and skip transmission patterns.Additionally,cracks and water level changes can also lead to shifts in the positions of the most dangerous blocks.Therefore,in practical landslide analysis and prevention,it is necessary to consider local tensile damage and identify potential tensile crack locations in advance to optimize prevention measures and accurately evaluate landslide risk.展开更多
This paper investigates the reliability of internal marine combustion engines using an integrated approach that combines Fault Tree Analysis(FTA)and Bayesian Networks(BN).FTA provides a structured,top-down method for ...This paper investigates the reliability of internal marine combustion engines using an integrated approach that combines Fault Tree Analysis(FTA)and Bayesian Networks(BN).FTA provides a structured,top-down method for identifying critical failure modes and their root causes,while BN introduces flexibility in probabilistic reasoning,enabling dynamic updates based on new evidence.This dual methodology overcomes the limitations of static FTA models,offering a comprehensive framework for system reliability analysis.Critical failures,including External Leakage(ELU),Failure to Start(FTS),and Overheating(OHE),were identified as key risks.By incorporating redundancy into high-risk components such as pumps and batteries,the likelihood of these failures was significantly reduced.For instance,redundant pumps reduced the probability of ELU by 31.88%,while additional batteries decreased the occurrence of FTS by 36.45%.The results underscore the practical benefits of combining FTA and BN for enhancing system reliability,particularly in maritime applications where operational safety and efficiency are critical.This research provides valuable insights for maintenance planning and highlights the importance of redundancy in critical systems,especially as the industry transitions toward more autonomous vessels.展开更多
In this work,we demonstrated the InSnO(ITO)TFTs passivated with SiO_(2)via the PECVD process compatible with large-area production for the first time.The passivated ITO TFTs with various channel thicknesses(t_(ch)=4,5...In this work,we demonstrated the InSnO(ITO)TFTs passivated with SiO_(2)via the PECVD process compatible with large-area production for the first time.The passivated ITO TFTs with various channel thicknesses(t_(ch)=4,5,6 nm)exhibit excellent electrical performance and superior uniformity.The reliability properties of ITO TFTs were evaluated in detail under positive bias stress(PBS)conditions before and after passivation.Compared to the devices without passivation,the passivated devices have only 50%threshold voltage degradation(ΔV_(th))and 50%newly generated traps due to excellent isolation of the ambient atmosphere.The negligible performance degradation of ITO TFTs with passivation during negative bias stress(NBS)and negative bias temperature stress(NBTS)verifies the outstanding immunity to the water vapor of the SiO_(2)passivation layer.Overall,the ITO TFT with the t_(ch)of 6 nm and with SiO_(2)passivation exhibits the best performance in terms of electrical properties,uniformity,and reliability,which is promising in large-area production.展开更多
To study the durability of concrete in harsh environments in Northwest China,concrete was prepared with various durability-improving materials such as concrete anti-erosion inhibitor(SBT-TIA),acrylate polymer(AP),supe...To study the durability of concrete in harsh environments in Northwest China,concrete was prepared with various durability-improving materials such as concrete anti-erosion inhibitor(SBT-TIA),acrylate polymer(AP),super absorbent resin(SAP).The erosion mode and internal deterioration mechanism under salt freeze-thaw cycle and dry-wet cycle were explored.The results show that the addition of enhancing materials can effectively improve the resistance of concrete to salt freezing and sulfate erosion:the relevant indexes of concrete added with X-AP and T-AP are improved after salt freeze-thaw cycles;concrete added with SBTTIA shows optimal sulfate corrosion resistance;and concrete added with AP displays the best resistance to salt freezing.Microanalysis shows that the increase in the number of cycles decreases the generation of internal hydration products and defects in concrete mixed with enhancing materials and improves the related indexes.Based on the Wiener model analysis,the reliability of concrete with different lithologies and enhancing materials is improved,which may provide a reference for the application of manufactured sand concrete and enhancing materials in Northwest China,especially for the study of the improvement effects and mechanism of enhancing materials on the performance of concrete.展开更多

Purpose–This paper focuses on studying the reliability allocation for the railway system,aiming to improve the overall reliability of the railway system and ensure safety operation.Design/methodology/approach–In vie...Purpose–This paper focuses on studying the reliability allocation for the railway system,aiming to improve the overall reliability of the railway system and ensure safety operation.Design/methodology/approach–In view of the complex structure of the railway system,involving many subsystems,this paper analyzes the close dynamic coupling effect between railway subsystems.Based on this,taking the railway system failure as the top event,a fault tree is constructed in this paper.Then,a reliability allocation method based on the fault tree is employed to allocate the reliability index.Finally,a numerical experiment is implemented to show the performance of the reliability allocation method.Findings–The results showed that each subsystem needs to improve its reliability to meet the specified railway system reliability requirements,and the traction power supply system is the most important subsystem,which is the most efficient in improving the reliability of the railway system.Originality/value–For the first time,starting from a holistic perspective of the system,reliability allocation is carried out based on the importance of each railway subsystem.展开更多
Ensuring the safety,resilience,and reliability of overhead low-voltage(LV)and medium-voltage(MV)power cables in aging infrastructure is vital for maintaining essential services and mitigating risks in electrical power...Ensuring the safety,resilience,and reliability of overhead low-voltage(LV)and medium-voltage(MV)power cables in aging infrastructure is vital for maintaining essential services and mitigating risks in electrical power distribution systems.This study introduces a novel framework that integrates fault tree analysis(FTA)/failure mode and effect analysis(FMEA)and a fuzzy inference system(FIS)to systematically address performance variability and enhance the operational life of these critical assets while ensuring safety and resilience.This structured framework employs risk-informed decision-making as well as reliability-based safety and resilience assurance,incorporating international standards and best practices.Under this methodology,the FIS models uncertainties in asset performance,using expert-defined rules and membership functions to categorize risk levels and assess failure severity.A case study is performed on overhead MV power cables,specifically the"Racoon"allaluminum alloy conductor(AAAC),demonstrating its practical implementation.The results reveal that for typical environmental conditions and design parameters,the yearly reliability of the conductor is nearly 1,indicating compliance with IEC standards.Furthermore,a risk matrix is developed using current carrying capacity(CCC),a failure mode obtained from the FTA as the probability of occurrence,and power shutdown duration(PSD)as the severity indicator.The risk matrix estimates the potential risk(PR)level based on CCC and PSD inputs.For example,for CCC=260 A and PSD=50 min,the resulting PR is 12.9,indicating a moderate risk exists.These risk levels guide appropriate resilience actions,ensuring proactive power cable management by identifying critical risks,prioritizing mitigation measures,and ensuring adaptability and compliance.This approach not only addresses the challenges of aging infrastructure but also contributes to long-term system integrity and operational reliability.展开更多

Renewable energy sources(RES)have strong uncertainties,which significantly increase the risks of power imbalance and load shedding in composite power systems.It is thus necessary to evaluate the operational reliabilit...Renewable energy sources(RES)have strong uncertainties,which significantly increase the risks of power imbalance and load shedding in composite power systems.It is thus necessary to evaluate the operational reliability for guiding economic dispatch and reducing the risks.Current methods cannot meet the requirement for the operational timeliness of reliability evaluations due to the high computa-tional complexity of the optimal power flow(OPF)calculations of massive contingencies.This paper pro-poses a fully analytical approach to construct fast-to-run analytical functions of reliability indices and avoid reassessments when the load and RES change.The approach consists of uniform design(UD)-based contingency screening and a modified stochastic response surface method(mSRSM).The contin-gency screening method is used to select critical contingencies while considering the uncertainties.The mSRSM is used to construct the analytical functions of the load shedding to the load and RES gener-ation for the selected contingencies.An analytical function of a smooth virtual variable that maps to the load shedding is established in such a way that,when the load and RES vary,the reliability can be assessed within a very short time rather than using laborious OPF calculations.Case studies illustrate the excellent performance of the proposed method for real-time reliability evaluation.展开更多

This work proposes a reliability estimation approach based on time-varying dependence analysis. The dependence between the two performance indicators of rotary lip seals, namely leakage rate and friction torque, is modeled by time-varying copula function with polynomial to denote the time-varying parameters, and an efficient copula selection approach is utilized to select the optimal copula function. Parameter estimation is carried out based on a Bayesian method and the reliability during the whole lifetime is calculated based on a Monte Carlo method. Degradation test for rotary lip seal is conducted and the proposed model is validated by test data. The optimal copula function and optimal order of polynomial are determined based on test data. Results show that this model is effective in estimating the reliability of rotary lip seals and can achieve a better goodness of fit.展开更多

Objective:This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System(BIS/BAS)scales among stroke survivors.Methods:The cross-sectio...Objective:This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System(BIS/BAS)scales among stroke survivors.Methods:The cross-sectional study was conducted at four comprehensive hospitals in Taizhou,Jiangsu,China.A sample of 232 first-ever stroke survivors were recruited from June to August 2023.Validity was examined using face validity and construct validity,which used confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)and known-group analysis.Reliability was evaluated by internal consistency and test-retest reliability.Results:The BIS/BAS scales demonstrated satisfactory face validity.The findings of CFAs supported the original four-factor structure of BAS-reward,BAS-drive,BAS-fun seeking,and BIS with acceptable model fit indices.Discriminative validity,assessed via known-group analysis,indicated that stroke survivors with probable depression had significantly lower mean BAS-reward,BAS-drive,and BAS-fun seeking scores(P<0.001)and a higher mean BIS score(P=0.028)compared to those without probable depression.The internal consistency,measured by Cronbach’s a coefficients for the subscales,ranged from 0.669 to 0.964.Test-retest reliability,assessed using intra-class correlation coefficients,ranged from 0.61 to 0.93.Conclusions:The Chinese version of the BIS/BAS scales could be a reliable and valid instrument for measuring behavioral activation among stroke survivors.展开更多

文摘To study the durability of concrete in harsh environments in Northwest China,concrete was prepared with various durability-improving materials such as concrete anti-erosion inhibitor(SBT-TIA),acrylate polymer(AP),super absorbent resin(SAP).The erosion mode and internal deterioration mechanism under salt freeze-thaw cycle and dry-wet cycle were explored.The results show that the addition of enhancing materials can effectively improve the resistance of concrete to salt freezing and sulfate erosion:the relevant indexes of concrete added with X-AP and T-AP are improved after salt freeze-thaw cycles;concrete added with SBTTIA shows optimal sulfate corrosion resistance;and concrete added with AP displays the best resistance to salt freezing.Microanalysis shows that the increase in the number of cycles decreases the generation of internal hydration products and defects in concrete mixed with enhancing materials and improves the related indexes.Based on the Wiener model analysis,the reliability of concrete with different lithologies and enhancing materials is improved,which may provide a reference for the application of manufactured sand concrete and enhancing materials in Northwest China,especially for the study of the improvement effects and mechanism of enhancing materials on the performance of concrete.

文摘The emergence of systems-of-systems (SoS) brings new challenges for reliability research within the field of system-of-systems engineering (SoSE). In response, this study examines the requirements for measurement, evaluation, and design/testing of SoS reliability. Drawing on research practice in aerospace engineering, it outlines the concept of equipment SoS and proposes a corresponding research framework for equipment SoS reliability. By analyzing both the reliability demands of SoSE and the current research practice in aerospace equipment SoS, this study identifies several key challenges: Modeling of SoS and its reliability, network reliability in SoS, propagation and recovery of disturbances in SoS, reliability design and simulation methods, and reliability management in SoSE.

文摘Purpose–This paper focuses on studying the reliability allocation for the railway system,aiming to improve the overall reliability of the railway system and ensure safety operation.Design/methodology/approach–In view of the complex structure of the railway system,involving many subsystems,this paper analyzes the close dynamic coupling effect between railway subsystems.Based on this,taking the railway system failure as the top event,a fault tree is constructed in this paper.Then,a reliability allocation method based on the fault tree is employed to allocate the reliability index.Finally,a numerical experiment is implemented to show the performance of the reliability allocation method.Findings–The results showed that each subsystem needs to improve its reliability to meet the specified railway system reliability requirements,and the traction power supply system is the most important subsystem,which is the most efficient in improving the reliability of the railway system.Originality/value–For the first time,starting from a holistic perspective of the system,reliability allocation is carried out based on the importance of each railway subsystem.
文摘Ensuring the safety,resilience,and reliability of overhead low-voltage(LV)and medium-voltage(MV)power cables in aging infrastructure is vital for maintaining essential services and mitigating risks in electrical power distribution systems.This study introduces a novel framework that integrates fault tree analysis(FTA)/failure mode and effect analysis(FMEA)and a fuzzy inference system(FIS)to systematically address performance variability and enhance the operational life of these critical assets while ensuring safety and resilience.This structured framework employs risk-informed decision-making as well as reliability-based safety and resilience assurance,incorporating international standards and best practices.Under this methodology,the FIS models uncertainties in asset performance,using expert-defined rules and membership functions to categorize risk levels and assess failure severity.A case study is performed on overhead MV power cables,specifically the"Racoon"allaluminum alloy conductor(AAAC),demonstrating its practical implementation.The results reveal that for typical environmental conditions and design parameters,the yearly reliability of the conductor is nearly 1,indicating compliance with IEC standards.Furthermore,a risk matrix is developed using current carrying capacity(CCC),a failure mode obtained from the FTA as the probability of occurrence,and power shutdown duration(PSD)as the severity indicator.The risk matrix estimates the potential risk(PR)level based on CCC and PSD inputs.For example,for CCC=260 A and PSD=50 min,the resulting PR is 12.9,indicating a moderate risk exists.These risk levels guide appropriate resilience actions,ensuring proactive power cable management by identifying critical risks,prioritizing mitigation measures,and ensuring adaptability and compliance.This approach not only addresses the challenges of aging infrastructure but also contributes to long-term system integrity and operational reliability.

文摘This paper proposes a reliability evaluation model for a multi-dimensional network system,which has potential to be applied to the internet of things or other practical networks.A multi-dimensional network system with one source element and multiple sink elements is considered first.Each element can con-nect with other elements within a stochastic connection ranges.The system is regarded as successful as long as the source ele-ment remains connected with all sink elements.An importance measure is proposed to evaluate the performance of non-source elements.Furthermore,to calculate the system reliability and the element importance measure,a multi-valued decision diagram based approach is structured and its complexity is analyzed.Finally,a numerical example about the signal transfer station system is illustrated to analyze the system reliability and the ele-ment importance measure.

文摘Renewable energy sources(RES)have strong uncertainties,which significantly increase the risks of power imbalance and load shedding in composite power systems.It is thus necessary to evaluate the operational reliability for guiding economic dispatch and reducing the risks.Current methods cannot meet the requirement for the operational timeliness of reliability evaluations due to the high computa-tional complexity of the optimal power flow(OPF)calculations of massive contingencies.This paper pro-poses a fully analytical approach to construct fast-to-run analytical functions of reliability indices and avoid reassessments when the load and RES change.The approach consists of uniform design(UD)-based contingency screening and a modified stochastic response surface method(mSRSM).The contin-gency screening method is used to select critical contingencies while considering the uncertainties.The mSRSM is used to construct the analytical functions of the load shedding to the load and RES gener-ation for the selected contingencies.An analytical function of a smooth virtual variable that maps to the load shedding is established in such a way that,when the load and RES vary,the reliability can be assessed within a very short time rather than using laborious OPF calculations.Case studies illustrate the excellent performance of the proposed method for real-time reliability evaluation.

文摘Using the characteristic of addition of information quantity and the principle of equivalence of information quantity, this paper derives the general conversion formulae of the formation theory method conversion (synthesis) on the systems consisting of different success failure model units. According to the fundamental method of the unit reliability assessment, the general models of system reliability approximate lower limits are given. Finally, this paper analyses the application of the assessment method by examples, the assessment results are neither conservative nor radical and very satisfactory. The assessment method can be popularized to the systems which have fixed reliability structural models.
文摘Aim To define a mixed redundant model(MRM), improving the reliability of C 3I system. Methods The model combined the technology characters of two? unit system with one warm stand by unit and function substitute system. The reliability and availability equations of MRM were deduced. Results and Conclusion Compared with several other reliability models, it has obvious effect upon improving the system reliability. The effect? cost rate is very high among these models. The model can be used in reliability design, evaluation and check of C 3I system. Only a little attached cost is needed to improve C 3I system reliability effectively.

文摘The research of reliability design for impact vibration of hydraulic pressure pipeline systems is still in the primary stage,and the research of quantitative reliability of hydraulic components and system is still incomplete.On the condition of having obtained the numerical characteristics of basic random parameters,several techniques and methods including the probability statistical theory,hydraulic technique and stochastic perturbation method are employed to carry out the reliability design for impact vibration of the hydraulic pressure system.Considering the instantaneous pressure pulse of hydraulic impact in pipeline,the reliability analysis model of hydraulic pipeline system is established,and the reliability-based optimization design method is presented.The proposed method can reflect the inherent reliability of hydraulic pipe system exactly,and the desired result is obtained.The reliability design of hydraulic pipeline system is achieved by computer programs and the reliability design information of hydraulic pipeline system is obtained.This research proposes a reliability design method,which can solve the problem of the reliability-based optimization design for the hydraulic pressure system with impact vibration practically and effectively,and enhance the quantitative research on the reliability design of hydraulic pipeline system.The proposed method has generality for the reliability optimization design of hydraulic pipeline system.

文摘Existing Physics-of-Failure-based(PoF-based)system reliability prediction methods are grounded on the independence assumption,which overlooks the dependency among the compo-nents.In this paper,a new type of dependency,referred to as failure collaboration,is introduced and considered in reliability predictions.A PoF-based model is developed to describe the failure behavior of systems subject to failure collaboration.Based on the developed model,the Bisection-based Reliability Analysis Method(BRAM)is exploited to calculate the system reliability.The developed methods are applied to predicting the reliability of a Hydraulic Servo Actuator(HSA).The results demonstrate that the developed methods outperform the traditional PoF-based reliability prediction methods when applied to systems subject to failure collaboration.

文摘The concept of unmanned weapon system-of-systems(UWSoS)involves a collection of various unmanned systems to achieve or accomplish a specific goal or mission.The mission reliability of UWSoS is represented by its ability to finish a required mission above the baselines of a given mission.However,issues with heterogeneity,cooperation between systems,and the emergence of UWSoS cannot be effectively solved by traditional system reliability methods.This study proposes an effective operation-loop-based mission reliability evaluation method for UWSoS by analyzing dynamic reconfiguration.First,we present a new connotation of an effective operation loop by considering the allocation of operational entities and physical resource constraints.Then,we propose an effective operationloop-based mission reliability model for a heterogeneous UWSoS according to the mission baseline.Moreover,a mission reliability evaluation algorithm is proposed under random external shocks and topology reconfiguration,revealing the evolution law of the effective operation loop and mission reliability.Finally,a typical 60-unmanned-aerial-vehicle-swarm is taken as an example to demonstrate the proposed models and methods.The mission reliability is achieved by considering external shocks,which can serve as a reference for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of UWSoS.

文摘With several attractive properties, rotary lip seals are widely used in aircraft utility system, and their reliability estimation has drawn more and more attention. This work proposes a reliability estimation approach based on time-varying dependence analysis. The dependence between the two performance indicators of rotary lip seals, namely leakage rate and friction torque, is modeled by time-varying copula function with polynomial to denote the time-varying parameters, and an efficient copula selection approach is utilized to select the optimal copula function. Parameter estimation is carried out based on a Bayesian method and the reliability during the whole lifetime is calculated based on a Monte Carlo method. Degradation test for rotary lip seal is conducted and the proposed model is validated by test data. The optimal copula function and optimal order of polynomial are determined based on test data. Results show that this model is effective in estimating the reliability of rotary lip seals and can achieve a better goodness of fit.
文摘The reliability assessment of unit-system near two levels is the mostimportant content in the reliability multi-level synthesis of complex systems. Introducing theinformation theory into system reliability assessment, using the addible characteristic ofinformation quantity and the principle of equivalence of information quantity, an entropy method ofdata information conversion is presented for the system consisted of identical exponential units.The basic conversion formulae of entropy method of unit test data are derived based on the principleof information quantity equivalence. The general models of entropy method synthesis assessment forsystem reliability approximate lower limits are established according to the fundamental principleof the unit reliability assessment. The applications of the entropy method are discussed by way ofpractical examples. Compared with the traditional methods, the entropy method is found to be validand practicable and the assessment results are very satisfactory.
文摘Objective:This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System(BIS/BAS)scales among stroke survivors.Methods:The cross-sectional study was conducted at four comprehensive hospitals in Taizhou,Jiangsu,China.A sample of 232 first-ever stroke survivors were recruited from June to August 2023.Validity was examined using face validity and construct validity,which used confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)and known-group analysis.Reliability was evaluated by internal consistency and test-retest reliability.Results:The BIS/BAS scales demonstrated satisfactory face validity.The findings of CFAs supported the original four-factor structure of BAS-reward,BAS-drive,BAS-fun seeking,and BIS with acceptable model fit indices.Discriminative validity,assessed via known-group analysis,indicated that stroke survivors with probable depression had significantly lower mean BAS-reward,BAS-drive,and BAS-fun seeking scores(P<0.001)and a higher mean BIS score(P=0.028)compared to those without probable depression.The internal consistency,measured by Cronbach’s a coefficients for the subscales,ranged from 0.669 to 0.964.Test-retest reliability,assessed using intra-class correlation coefficients,ranged from 0.61 to 0.93.Conclusions:The Chinese version of the BIS/BAS scales could be a reliable and valid instrument for measuring behavioral activation among stroke survivors.

文摘The non-probabilistic reliability in higher dimensional situations cannot be calcu- lated efficiently using traditional methods, which either require a large amount of calculation or cause significant error. In this study, an efficient computational method is proposed for the cal- culation of non-probabilistic reliability based on the volume ratio theory, specificMly for linear structural systems. The common expression for non-probabilistic reliability is obtained through formula derivation with the amount of computation considerably reduced. The compatibility be- tween non-probabilistic and probabilistic safety measures is demonstrated through the Monte Carlo simulation. The high efficiency of the presented method is verified by several numerical examples.
