Plutella xylostella,a major pest of cruciferous vegetables worldwide,has developed resistance to diamide insecticides.Thiotraniliprole,a novel synthetic diamide insecticide,exhibits excellent activity against P.xylost...Plutella xylostella,a major pest of cruciferous vegetables worldwide,has developed resistance to diamide insecticides.Thiotraniliprole,a novel synthetic diamide insecticide,exhibits excellent activity against P.xylostella.In the present study,we aimed to confirm the resistance risk,cross-resistance,and mechanisms of resistance to thiotraniliprole in P.xylostella.After 40 consecutive generations of thiotraniliprole selection,we obtained a thiotraniliprole-resistance P.xylostella strain with a 5141.58-fold resistance ratio(RR)to thiotraniliprole.The overall realized heritability(h^(2))value of resistance was estimated as 0.9 using threshold trait analysis,indicating that the risk of developing resistance to thiotraniliprole is high in P.xylostella.The thiotraniliprole-resistant(TR)strain showed noticeable cross-resistance to chlorantraniliprole(RR=44670.05),cyantraniliprole(RR=7038.58),and tetrachlorantraniliprole(RR=1506.01),but no cross-resistance to tolfenpyrad,indoxacarb,diafenthiuron,or abamectin compared with the susceptible(S)strain.The enzyme assay data showed that the activities of glutathione-S transferase(GST),carboxylesterase(CarE),and the content of cytochrome P450 monooxygenase(P450s)were significantly higher in the TR strain than in the S strain.Sequencing of the full-length PxRyR cDNA revealed the gene site I4790K in the TR strain with a 100%frequency.This mutation in PxRyR likely underlies the high-level cross-resistance between thiotraniliprole and three other diamide insecticides.These findings provide valuable information for optimizing resistance management strategies to delay thiotraniliprole resistance development and ensure sustainable control of P.xylostella.展开更多
The rice stem borer,Chilo suppressalis(Walker)(Lepidoptera:Crambidae),is one of the most serious pests in rice-growing areas,and it has developed resistance to most insecticides currently used in the field.Cyproflanil...The rice stem borer,Chilo suppressalis(Walker)(Lepidoptera:Crambidae),is one of the most serious pests in rice-growing areas,and it has developed resistance to most insecticides currently used in the field.Cyproflanilide is a novel meta-diamide insecticide that has shown high activities to multiple pests.Evaluating the risk of resistance to cyproflanilide in C.suppressalis is necessary for its preventive resistance management.Here we established the baseline susceptibility of C.suppressalis to cyproflanilide by the rice-seedling dipping method and topical application,and the LC_(50) and LD_(50) values were 0.026 mg L^(-1) and 0.122 ng/larva,respectively.The LC_(50) values of cyproflanilide in 37 field populations ranged from 0.012 to 0.061 mg L^(-1),and 25 field populations exhibited resistance to chlorantraniliprole with the highest LC_(50) value of 3,770.059 mg L^(-1).In addition,a logistic distribution model analysis indicated that only 0.048 mg L^(-1) of cyproflanilide was required to kill 90% field chlorantraniliprole-resistant populations of C.suppressalis,compared to 2,087.764 mg L^(-1) of chlorantraniliprole for a similar level of control.Resistance screening over 19 generations did not result in resistance to cyproflanilide(RR=3.1-fold).The realized heritability(h^(2))of resistance was estimated as 0.067 by using threshold trait analysis,suggesting a low risk of cyproflanilide resistance development in susceptible strains.The Cypro-SEL population(F_(10))had no obvious fitness cost(relative fitness=0.96),and no significant changes in sensitivity to seven tested insecticides.These findings suggested that cyproflanilide is a promising insecticide for the management of chlorantraniliprole-resistant C.suppressalis.Moreover,this integrated risk assessment provides scientific application guidelines for the sustainable resistance management of cyproflanilide for controlling C.suppressalis.展开更多
In concentric annular pipes,the difference in curvature between the inner and outer wall surfaces creates significant variations in the heat transfer characteristics of the two surfaces.The simplifications of the Ditt...In concentric annular pipes,the difference in curvature between the inner and outer wall surfaces creates significant variations in the heat transfer characteristics of the two surfaces.The simplifications of the Dittus-Boelter equation for circular pipes make it unsuitable for the complex flow induced by the geometry and heat transfer coupling effects in annular pipes.This prevents it from accurately predicting the turbulent heat transfer in concentric annular pipes.This paper used realizableκ–εand low Reynolds number models to conduct numerical simulations of turbulent convective heat transfer in concentric annular pipes and circular pipes.The results indicated that the local heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number of the inner wall surface of the annular pipe were both higher than those of the outer wall surface.The Darcy resistance coefficient decreased upon increasing the Reynolds number and increased with the inner diameter-to-outer diameter ratio.When using the equivalent diameter as the characteristic scale,the turbulent heat transfer correlation obtained from circular pipes produced significant errors when used to approximate the turbulent convective heat transfer in concentric annular pipes.This error was greater for the inner wall surface,especially when the inner and outer diameters were relatively small,as the Nusselt number error on the inner wall surface reached 60.62%.The error of the Nusselt number on the outer wall surface reached 19.51%.展开更多
This study evaluates the predictive accuracy of traditional time series(TS)models versus machine learning(ML)methods in forecasting realized volatility across major cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin(BTC),Ethereum(ETH),Litecoi...This study evaluates the predictive accuracy of traditional time series(TS)models versus machine learning(ML)methods in forecasting realized volatility across major cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin(BTC),Ethereum(ETH),Litecoin(LTC),and Ripple(XRP).Employing high-frequency data,we analyze cross-cryptocurrency volatility dynamics through two complementary approaches:volatility forecasting and connectedness analysis.Our findings reveal three key insights:(i)TS models,particularly the heterogeneous autoregressive(HAR)model,exhibit superior predictive performance over their ML counterparts,with the long short-term memory(LSTM)model providing competitive yet inconsistent results due to overfitting and short-term volatility challenges;(ii)including lagged realized volatility of large-cap coins improves predictive accuracy for mid-cap coins,especially XRP,whereas forecasts for largecap coins remain stable,indicating more resilient volatility patterns;and(iii)volatility connectedness analysis reveals substantial spillover effects,particularly pronounced during market turmoil,with large-cap assets(BTC and ETH)acting as primary volatility transmitters and mid-cap assets(XRP and LTC)serving as volatility receivers.These results contribute to the understanding of volatility forecasting and risk management in cryptocurrency markets,offering implications for investors and policymakers in managing market risk and interdependencies in digital asset portfolios.展开更多
Based on the concept of“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”,Chinese government is relying on the ecological and environmental characteristics of cities,in combination with modern ecological,econom...Based on the concept of“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”,Chinese government is relying on the ecological and environmental characteristics of cities,in combination with modern ecological,economic,and sociological theories,to achieve sustainable urban development.However,the value realization of ecological products(EP)faces challenges in four major aspects:quantification,trading,transformation,and sustainability.At this stage,seeking breakthroughs to form a stable development path for the realization of the value of EPs is crucial.This paper examines the Guilin Sustainable Development Innovation Demonstration Zone and conducts a case study on oil tea,a characteristic EP.Based on the value realization of EPs,this paper analyzes the oil tea industry in terms of three functions:ecological protection,regional economic development,and traditional cultural support.Drawing on the theory of the gross ecosystem product,this paper examines the role of the value realization of oil tea in improving the quality of the urban living environment and ecosystem functions in Guilin.The results can help promote research on the shaping effects of endemic EPs on sustainable development with respect to the urban economy.Taking a human-centered perspective,the principles of landsenses ecology and traditional ecological knowledge can help analyze the social,historical,and cultural value of oil tea.Combined with on-site research data,a relationship map centered on oil tea culture is created to explore the importance of developing traditional cultural attributes of local EPs in promoting cultural customs,protecting the cultural diversity of ethnic minorities,and driving the development of the cultural tourism industry.By constructing a sustainable urban development model centered on developing local characteristic EPs with the core elements of ecology-economy-traditional culture,this paper aims to strengthen the ecological protection function of cities,promote high-quality economic development,and enhance the soft power of traditional culture.It provides scientific support for the sustainable development planning in Guilin.展开更多
Rare-earth based frustrated magnets have attracted great attention as excellent candidates for magnetic refrigeration at sub-Kelvin temperatures,while the experimental identification of systems exhibiting both large v...Rare-earth based frustrated magnets have attracted great attention as excellent candidates for magnetic refrigeration at sub-Kelvin temperatures,while the experimental identification of systems exhibiting both large volumetric cooling capacity and reduced working temperatures far below 1K remains a challenge.Here,through ultra-low temperature magnetism and thermodynamic characterizations,we unveil the large magnetocaloric effect(MCE)realized at sub-Kelvin temperatures in the frustrated Kagome antiferromagnet Gd_(3)BWO_(9)with T_(N)∼1.0 K.The isothermal magnetization curves indicate the existence of field(B)induced anisotropic magnetic phase diagrams,where four distinct magnetic phases for B‖c-axis and five magnetic phases for B‖ab-plane are identified at T<T_(N).The analysis of magnetic entropy S(B,T)data and direct adiabatic demagnetization tests reveal remarkable cooling performance at sub-Kelvin temperatures featured by a large volumetric entropy density of 502.2 mJ/K/cm^(3)and a low attainable minimal temperature T_(min)∼168mK from the initial cooling condition of 2K and 6 T,surpassing most Gd-based refrigerants previously documented in temperature ranges of 0.25–4 K.The realized T_(min)∼168mK far below T_(N)∼1.0K in Gd_(3)BWO_(9)is related to the combined effects of magnetic frustration and criticality-enhanced MCE,which together leave substantial magnetic entropy at reduced temperatures by enhancing spin fluctuations.展开更多

The unique wave-manipulation capabilities of zero-index metamaterials(ZIMs)offer a new opportunity for realizing bound states in the continuum(BICs).However,the relationship between anomalous scattering and BICs remai...The unique wave-manipulation capabilities of zero-index metamaterials(ZIMs)offer a new opportunity for realizing bound states in the continuum(BICs).However,the relationship between anomalous scattering and BICs remains underexplored when parity–time(PT)symmetry is introduced.In this work,we demonstrate that a BIC splits into a pair of lasing modes carrying opposite topological charges by introducing PT symmetry through gain-loss cylinders embedded in ZIM layers.Theoretical analysis and numerical simulations reveal that lasing and unidirectional transparency phenomena result from the singularities and exceptional points of the scattering matrix.Moreover,exceptional points can be tuned via propagation phase modulation in the air gap,and their coalescence produces quasi-BICs with symmetric responses.This work provides a framework for manipulating BICs and topological lasing modes in non-Hermitian systems,offering new insights for designing non-Hermitian photonic devices.展开更多

文摘The unique wave-manipulation capabilities of zero-index metamaterials(ZIMs)offer a new opportunity for realizing bound states in the continuum(BICs).However,the relationship between anomalous scattering and BICs remains underexplored when parity–time(PT)symmetry is introduced.In this work,we demonstrate that a BIC splits into a pair of lasing modes carrying opposite topological charges by introducing PT symmetry through gain-loss cylinders embedded in ZIM layers.Theoretical analysis and numerical simulations reveal that lasing and unidirectional transparency phenomena result from the singularities and exceptional points of the scattering matrix.Moreover,exceptional points can be tuned via propagation phase modulation in the air gap,and their coalescence produces quasi-BICs with symmetric responses.This work provides a framework for manipulating BICs and topological lasing modes in non-Hermitian systems,offering new insights for designing non-Hermitian photonic devices.
