Based on BERTopic Model,the paper combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the reception of Can Xue’s translated works by analyzing readers’book reviews posted on Goodreads and Lovereading.We first c...Based on BERTopic Model,the paper combines qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the reception of Can Xue’s translated works by analyzing readers’book reviews posted on Goodreads and Lovereading.We first collected book reviews from these two well-known websites by Python.Through topic analysis of these reviews,we identified recurring topics,including details of her translated works and appreciation of their translation quality.Then,employing sentiment and content analysis methods,the paper explored the emotional attitudes and the specific thoughts of readers toward Can Xue and her translated works.The fingdings revealed that,among the 408 reviews,though the reception of Can Xue’s translated works was relatively positive,the current level of attention and recognition remains insufficient.However,based on the research results,the paper can derive valuable insights into the translation and dissemination processes such as adjusting translation and dissemination strategies,so that the global reach of Chinese literature and culture can be better facilitated.展开更多

Previous studies on translations of Huangdi Neijing(The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic)have focused on English versions;little attention has been given to non-English translations.The present study is the first inves...Previous studies on translations of Huangdi Neijing(The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic)have focused on English versions;little attention has been given to non-English translations.The present study is the first investigation of the reception of the seven Spanish versions of Huangdi Neijing in terms of three parameters:collection records in libraries worldwide;book reviews and citation counts in international journals;and customer reviews on Amazon.The results revealed four features of Spanish translations and communication of Huangdi Neijing in terms of reception of academia,reception of general readers,the center of translation and communication,and the role of Chinese scholars.These factors demonstrate the marginal status of Spanish translations of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)classics.The implications are summarized in hopes of promoting the translation and communication of TCM classics in the Spanish-speaking world and to provide insights into the communication of TCM culture in the non-English-speaking world.展开更多

The results show that the Tollmien-Schlichting （T-S） wave packets superposed by a group of stability, neutral, and instability T-S waves are generated in the boundary layer. The propagation speeds of the T-S wave packets are calculated. The relation among the boundary-layer receptivity response, the amplitude of the FST, the roughness height, and the roughness width is determined. The results agree well with Dietz＇s experiments. Under the interaction of the vortical disturbances in the freestream and the roughness element on the wall, Tollmein-Schlichting (T-S) waves were generated and detected in the boundary layer, thus confirming that the wavelength conversion mechanism and the local receptivity exist. Numerical simulations were performed to obtain the relations between the amplitude of the generated T-S wave and the amplitude of freestream disturbance, the roughness height, and the width of rectangular roughness elements, which agree with those obtained from experiments. Receptivity is the initial stage and plays a crucial role in the entire transition process. The previous studies of receptivity focus on external disturbances such as sound waves and vortices in the free stream, whereas those on the leading-edge receptivity to the three-dimensional free-stream turbulence (FST), which is more general in the nature, are rarely reported. In consideration of this, this work is devoted to investigating the receptivity process of three-dimensional Tollmien-Schlichting (T-S) wave packets excited by the three-dimensional FST in a flat-plate boundary layer numerically. The relations between the leading-edge receptivity and the turbulence intensity are established, and the influence of the FST directions on the propagation directions and group velocities of the excited T-S wave packets is studied. Moreover, the leading-edge receptivity to the anisotropic FST is also studied. This parametric investigation can contribute to the prediction of laminar-turbulent transition.展开更多
