Quantitative scale validation of the Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale in the treatment of Chinese patients with major depressive disorder

Background The patient-reported Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale(DARS)has been adapted into Chinese,so there is a need to evaluate its measurement properties in a Chinese population.Aims To evaluate the reliability and validity of the DARS among Chinese individuals with major depressive disorder(MDD)and its treatment sensitivity in a prospective clinical study.Methods Data were from a multicentre,prospective clinical study(NCT03294525),which recruited both patients with MDD,who were followed for 8 weeks,and healthy controls(HCs),assessed at baseline only.The analysis included confirmatory factor analysis,validity and sensitivity to change.Results Patients’mean(standard deviation(SD))age was 34.8(11.0)years,with 68.7%being female.75.2%of patients with MDD had melancholic features,followed by 63.8%with anxious distress.Patients had experienced MDD for a mean(SD)of 9.2(18)months.DARS scores covered the full range of severity with no major floor or ceiling effects.Confirmatory factor analysis showed adequate fit statistics(comparative fit index 0.976,goodness-of-fit index 0.935 and root mean square error of approximation 0.055).Convergent validity with anhedonia-related measures was confirmed.While the correlation between the DARS and the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale was not strong(r=0.31,baseline),the DARS was found to differentiate between levels of depression.Greater improvements in DARS scores were seen with the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression responder group(effect size 1.16)compared with the non-responder group(effect size 0.46).Conclusions This study comprehensively evaluated the measurement properties of the DARS using a Chinese population with MDD.Overall,the Chinese version of DARS demonstrates good psychometric properties and has been found to be responsive to change during antidepressant treatment.The DARS is a suitable scale for assessing patient-reported anhedonia in future clinical trials. 展开更多

Mathematical models for burden descending process have been applied to obtain whole burden structures in blast furnace,whereas the accuracy of those burden descent models has not been sufficiently investigated.Special evaluation method based on timeline burden profiles was established to quantitatively evaluate the error between experimental and modeled burden structures.Four existing burden descent models were utilized to describe the burden structure of a 1/20 scaled warm blast furnace.Input modeling conditions including initial burden profile,descending volumes in each time interval,and normalized descending velocity distribution were determined via special image processing technology.Modeled burden structures were evaluated combined with the published experimental data.It is found that all the models caught the main profile of the burden structure.Furthermore,the improved nonuniform descent model(Model IV)shows the highest level of precision especially when burden descends with unstable velocity distribution tendency.Meanwhile,the traditional nonuniform descent model(Model III)may also be desirable to model the burden descending process when the burden descending velocity presents a linear tendency.Finally,the uniform descent model(Model I)might be the first option for roughly predicting burden structure. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Myasthenia gravis(MG)is an autoimmune disorder caused by neuromuscular junction failure characterized by muscle weakness and fatigability.We herein report a case of MG that received intravascular laser irradiation of blood(ILIB)interventions and regained muscle power and better quality of life.To our knowledge,no previous study has investigated the benefits of ILIB treatment on patients with MG.We also evaluated the changes in brain perfusion scan and the MG activities of daily living(MG-ADL)and quantitative MG(QMG)scales.CASE SUMMARY A 59-year-old man presented to our outpatient hospital experiencing ptosis,diplopia,fibromyalgia,muscle fatigue,and fluctuating weakness in his limbs for 1 year.Based on his history,physical examination,and laboratory investigations,the final diagnosis was a flare-up of MG with poor endurance and muscle fatigue.The patient agreed to receive ILIB.Brain single-photon emission computed tomography(SPECT)was performed both before and after ILIB therapy.After receiving three courses of ILIB,the brain SPECT images showed greatly increased perfusion of the frontal lobe and anterior cingulate gyri.The patient’s MG-ADL scale score decreased markedly from 17/24 to 3/24.The QMG scale score also decreased remarkably from 32/39 to 9/39.The symptoms of MG became barely detectable and the patient was able to perform his activities of daily living and regain muscle power.CONCLUSION ILIB might have beneficial effects on MG,and brain SPECT images provided direct evidence of a positive correlation between ILIB and clinical performance. 展开更多

As one of the most important reservoirs in submarine fan, submarine lobes are hot fields for the deep-water oil-gas exploration in the world. Although a large amount of researches have been carried out on the architecture model of submarine lobes throughout the world, some controversies still exist on aspects such as the differential distribution of composite patterns and the quantitative relationships among different sedimentary settings. This paper, which took an oilfietd in the Niger Delta Basin offshore West Afnca as an example and utilized abundant core, welt-logging and seismic data comprehensively, established the semi- quantitative to quantitative architecture model for individual lobe and lobe complex. Results show that (1) A lobe complex was composed of multiple individual lobes as the compensational stacking pattern. According to the stacked relationship among individual lobes, four types of compensational stacking pattern were classified as the inordered type, the lateral migration type, the retrograding type and the prograding type. Influenced by the laterally confined degree of palaeotopography, the basin floor fan lobe complex was easily superimposed as inordered type, showing relatively large lateral width but relatively small thickness; the slope fan lobe complex was easily superimposed as lateral migration, retrograding and pro- grading types, showing relatively small lateral width but relatively large thickness. (2) Influenced by the laterally confined degree of palaeotopography, the basin floor fan individual lobes showed relatively large planar distribution area but relatively small thickness, while the slope fan individual lobes showed relatively small planar distribution area but relatively large thickness. An individual lobe was composed of multiple lobe stories by the way of aggradation-progradation pattern. From proximal to middle and distal part of individual lobes, the bottom mass-transport-deposits and the top branch channels disappeared gradually, and the amalgamated degree of the middle tabular sandbodies weakened as well with gradually developing of muddy interlayers.
