Effect Comparison of Canine Intravenous Pyelography (IVP) by Two Kinds of Hypotonic Medicines

[ Objective] This paper aimed to provide references for pet dog kidney and urinary track diseases' x-ray radiography diagnosis. [ Meth- od] Experimental dogs were gave two kinds of hypotenic medicines (Vitamin K3 and anisodamine) in advance, non -compression hypotonic (IVP) was done and radiography effects of this two hypotonic medicines were compared later in order to finally discuss clinical practical application value of canine (IVP) using hypotonic medicines. [Result] 3.5 mg/kg, bw anisodamine dosage was injected before radiography, 10 minutes after radiography was the best time to take photo, and the development of experimental dog's bilateral renal contour, renal pelvis and front segment of ureter was basically clear. While regarding radiography by 1.6 mg/kg, bw vitamin K3, the best photo was got 10 minutes later after radiography, and the development of experimental dog's bilateral renal contour, renal pelvis and front segment of ureter was clear. [ Condmion] Vitamin K3, as a kind of hypotonic medicine used in pet clinical ( IVP), had characteristics of safety, low dosage and better practical radiography effect, was obviously better than anisodamine, and could be properly promoted in pet clinical (IVP). 展开更多

Objective:We evaluated who would need further evaluations such as retrograde pyelography(RP)and/or ureteroscopy to diagnose upper urinary tract urothelial cancers(UUTUCs)when abnormal findings for the upper urinary tract(UUT)were detected by enhanced computed tomography(CT).Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 125 patients who underwent enhanced CT for various reasons and had abnormal findings for the UUT.Patients whose tumors were suspected to be of extraureteral origin were excluded.All patients received RP and/or ureteroscopy to evaluate the UUTUCs.Results:The median age of the 125 patients was 70 years and gross hematuria(26.4%)was the most frequently observed symptoms.RP,ureteroscopy and both were performed for 121,59 and 55 patients,respectively.CT revealed tumor-like lesions in 58 patients and the other patients had non-tumor-like lesions.UUTUCs were found in 43(34.4%)of the 125 patients.All of them had tumor-like lesions on CT.In 58 patients who had tumor-like lesions on CT,univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that tumor diameter and tumor enhancement were significant predictive factors for UUTUCs.ROC curve analysis of enhanced CT to diagnose UUTUCs revealed that a tumor diameter of 18 mm was the best cutoff point.The sensitivity,specificity and accuracy were 90.0%,98.8% and 92.7% for RP and 95.5%,100% and 97.1%for ureteroscopy,respectively.Both of them had high sensitivity,specificity and accuracy.Conclusion:We should decide to evaluate the UUT according to the tumor diameter on enhanced CT.When we evaluate the UUT in patients with tumor diameters of less than 20 mm,ureteroscopy is recommended. 展开更多

Objectives:Percutaneous nephropexy(PCN)has been demonstrated as a feasible method for treating nephroptosis.This study describes an improved technique for PCN that better addresses the issue of nephroptosis.Materials and methods:We reviewed 4 patients who underwent the improved PCN procedure between January 2021 and January 2023.These patients were diagnosed with nephroptosis,with 1 case having both a narrow ureteropelvic junction and nephroptosis due to a kidney stone,and 3 cases having simple nephroptosis.Patient characteristics,perioperative data,and follow-up results were collected.Surgical success was determined by symptom relief(subjective success)and the absence of kidney descent by intravenous pyelography(objective success).Results:Preoperative computed tomography urography showed that all patients had hydronephrosis,with severe hydronephrosis in 75%(3/4)andmoderate hydronephrosis in 25%(1/4)of cases.The mean operative time was 63.8 minutes(range,45–95minutes),and the mean blood loss was 5 mL(range,5–50 mL).The mean length of hospital stay was 4.5 days(range,3–6 days).The mean time to removal of the nephrostomy tube was 2months(range,1–4months).No serious complications(Clavien-Dindo grade≥3)occurred during or after the procedure.Themean postoperative serumcreatinine levelwas 54.75μmol/L(range,43–65μmol/L).The mean follow-up time was 6.25 months(range,4–8 months).The objective and subjective success rates were both 100%.Conclusions:The improved PCN procedure that was used in this study is feasible and provides a good option for treating nephroptosis. 展开更多
