Objective:International students frequently face psychological adaptation difficulties while studying and living abroad. As an effective psychological resource, positive solitude has been identified as a potential factor for improving psychological well-being,but the underlying mechanism linking the two has not been fully explored. The current study aims to explore the relationship between positive solitude and psychological adaptation of international students, with particular emphasis on the intermediary roles of authenticity and loneliness. Methods:A total of 529 international tertiary students(Mage=23.76,SD=5.08;60.68%male)were surveyed using the Positive Solitude Scale(PSS),Authenticity Scale(AS),6-item UCLA Loneliness Scale(ULS-6),and Brief Psychological Adaptation Scale(BPAS).SPSS27.0 was used for descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson correlation analysis.PROCESS macro(Model 6)was employed to test a serial mediation model,in which authenticity and loneliness function as intermediary variables between positive solitude and psychological adaptation. Results:The correlation analysis indicated significant associations among positive solitude, authenticity, loneliness, and psychological adaptation(r=−0.544~0.511).Positive solitude was directly and positively related to psychological adaptation(β=0.132,t=3.609,p<0.001)and indirectly related to psychological adaptation through two pathways:a single mediation via authenticity(indirect effect=0.089)and a serial mediation through authenticity and loneliness(indirect effect=0.062).Loneliness did not serve as a significant mediator(indirect effect=–0.015,95%CI[–0.049,0.019]).The total indirect effect was 0.136.Conclusions:Interventions targeting international students’capacity for experiencing positive solitude and authenticity can help to reduce loneliness and increase psychological adaptation. The findings derived from this study are conducive to understanding the relationship between positive solitude and psychological adaptation,as well as its underlying mechanisms. In addition, the study offers a new perspective for educational management and psychological counseling services for international students. 展开更多

Background:Amid the global rise in adolescent sedentary behavior and psychological distress, extant research has largely focused on variable-level associations, neglecting symptom-level interactions. This study applies network analysis, aims to delineate the interconnections among sedentary time, social support, social exclusion, and psychological distress in Chinese students, and to identify core and bridge symptoms to inform targeted interventions. Methods:This study employed a cross-sectional design to investigate the complex relationships among sedentary behavior, social support, social exclusion, and psychological distress among Chinese students. The research involved 459 high school and university students, using network analysis and mediation models to examine these relationships. Results:Network analysis revealed that the network had a density of 58.33%and an average edge weight of 0.11.In terms of centrality, stress had the highest expected influence(EI=1.135),acting as the core amplifier in the network.Sedentary behavior demonstrated the highest bridging expected influence, functioning as a critical bridge for cross-community transmission.Conversely, friend support showed the lowest bridging EI with a negative value, indicating its effectiveness in blocking cross-community diffusion and alleviating symptoms. Conclusion:With stress acting as the most influential“core engine”within the symptom network and sedentary behavior serving as the key“bridge”for cross-community transmission, interventions should first target stress to weaken the overall symptom cascade, followed by reducing sedentary behavior or enhancing friend support to disrupt cross-community pathways, thereby achieving a core-bridge dual blockade. 展开更多

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)patients face significant psychological challenges alongside physical symptoms, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of how psychological vulnerability and adaptation patterns evolve throughout the disease course. This review examined 95 studies(2000-2025)from PubMed,Web of Science, and CNKI databases including longitudinal cohorts, randomized controlled trials, and mixed-methods research,to characterize the complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors affecting RA patients’mental health.Findings revealed three distinct vulnerability trajectories(45%persistently low,30%fluctuating improvement,25%persistently high)and four adaptation stages, with critical intervention periods occurring 3-6 months postdiagnosis and during disease flares.Multiple factors significantly influence psychological outcomes, including gender(females showing 1.8-fold increased risk),age(younger patients experiencing 42%higher vulnerability),pain intensity, inflammatory markers, and neuroendocrine dysregulation(48%showing cortisol rhythm disruption).Early psychological intervention(within 3 months of diagnosis)demonstrated robust benefits, reducing depression incidence by 42%with effects persisting 24-36 months, while different modalities showed complementary advantages:Cognitive behavioral therapy for depression(Cohen’s d=0.68),mindfulness for pain acceptance(38%improvement),and peer support for meaning reconstruction(25.6%increase).These findings underscore the importance of integrating routine psychological assessment into standard RA care, developing stage-appropriate interventions, and advancing research toward personalized biopsychosocial approaches that address the dynamic psychological dimensions of the disease. 展开更多

Objectives:Psychological resilience is a critical resource for vocational high school students navigating social biases and fostering mental well-being.This six-month longitudinal study investigated the developmental trajectories of discrimination perception, vocational identity, and psychological resilience in this population. It further examined the longitudinal mediating role of vocational identity in the relationship between discrimination perception and psychological resilience. Methods:A total of 526 students from five vocational high schools in Guangdong,China, were assessed via convenience sampling at two time points:baseline(T1,September 2023)and six-month follow-up(T2,March 2024).Measures of discrimination perception, psychological resilience, and vocational identity were administered.Data were analyzed using a cross-lagged panel model to test for bidirectional relationships. Results:Over the six-month period, students showed significant decreases in discrimination perception and vocational identity, but a significant increase in psychological resilience. The cross-lagged model revealed significant bidirectional relationships:discrimination perception and psychological resilience negatively predicted each other over time(β=−0.124,p<0.01;β=−0.200,p<0.001),while psychological resilience and vocational identity positively predicted each other(β=0.084,p<0.05;β=0.076,p<0.05).The mediation analysis revealed a dual-pathway mechanism.T1 discrimination perception exerted both a significant direct negative effect on T2 psychological resilience(β=−0.332,p<0.001)and a significant indirect positive effect via T1 vocational identity(indirect effect=0.020,95%CI[0.001,0.046]).This confirms a partial mediating role, indicating that vocational identity functions as a compensatory mechanism, transforming the experience of discrimination perception into a potential source of psychological resilience. Conclusions:For vocational high school students, perception of discrimination directly undermines psychological resilience, but also indirectly fosters it through the positive development of vocational identity. These findings highlight vocational identity as a pivotal mechanism in the complex relationship between social adversity and mental resilience. 展开更多

This review explored the application and effectiveness of and research gaps in integrative psychological support in patients undergoing cardiac surgery during the perioperative period. These patients often encounter psychological issues such as anxiety and depression, which affect their postoperative recovery and quality of life.Previous research indicated that preoperative psychological assessments and interventions significantly enhance patients’psychological states and posto-perative outcomes.Interventions, including preoperative education,mindfulness-based stress reduction, and cognitive training, have proven effective in reducing the incidence of postoperative delirium and anxiety.Intraoperative environment optimization(e.g.,music therapy)and postoperative psychological support(e.g.,family visits and psychological interventions in intensive care unit psychological interventions)positively influence patient recovery.Furthermore,theory-based nursing interventions and digital health tools(e.g.,remote monitoring applica-tions)offer new directions for psychological support.However,challenges,inclu-ding fragmented psychological support, insufficient cross-stage integration, and inadequate training, remain in current nursing practices.Future research should focus on developing standardized psychological support pathways, enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration, and verifying the long-term effects of digital the-rapeutics. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The intensive care unit(ICU)is a core hospital unit for critically ill patients.A high-intensity treatment environment, frequent invasive procedures, and isolation from family members often lead to severe psychological stress reactions in patients, including anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder.Studies have reported that up to 50%of patients in the ICU experience varying degrees of psychological disorders, leading to reduced treatment compliance and exacerbated metabolic disorders through neuroendocrine pathways, thereby negatively affecting prognosis.AIM To investigate the influence of psychological nursing interventions on psychological status and all-cause mortality among patients admitted to the ICU.METHODS Data were obtained from 100 patients with nutritional risk in the ICU of the Central Hospital of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, admitted from June 2021 to June 2023.They were randomly divided into two groups(n=50 each)based on nursing intervention:Control and study groups. At follow-up,the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and the Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)were used.All-cause mortality and time to death were compared between the two groups. The relationship between psychological status and all-cause mortality was assessed using the Cox proportional hazards regression model.RESULTS There were no statistically significant differences in SAS and SDS scores between the two groups before the nursing intervention(P>0.05).However,after the psychological intervention, the SAS and SDS scores of the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The all-cause mortality rates in the study and control groups were 20%and 40%,respectively(P<0.05),indicating that psychological nursing interventions can significantly reduce all-cause mortality and improve clinical outcomes.Cox proportional hazards regression analysis revealed that a good psychological state reduced all-cause mortality(P<0.05).Nursing satisfaction in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),indicating a high level of recognition of the psychological intervention.CONCLUSION Psychological nursing interventions can effectively reduce the incidence of anxiety and depression in ICU patients with nutritional risk, improve their psychological state, reduce all-cause mortality, and improve their prognoses. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Empathetic psychological care improves mood and enhances the quality of life in critically ill patients.AIM To study the impact of combining 222-nm ultraviolet(UV)disinfection with empathetic psychological care on emotional states, nosocomial infection rates, and quality of life in critically ill patients.METHODS A total of 202 critically ill patients admitted to Beijing Ditan Hospital(December 2023 to May 2024)were randomly assigned to control(Ctrl,n=101)or observation groups(Obs,n=101).The Ctrl group received 222-nm UV disinfection and routine care, while the Obs group received 222-nm UV disinfection with empathetic psychological care.Emotional states[Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)],hospital infection rates, quality of life(36-Item Short Form Health Survey),and patient satisfaction were evaluated.RESULTS At baseline, there were no significant differences in SAS and SDS scores between the groups(P>0.05).Following care, both groups demonstrated reductions in SAS and SDS scores, with the Obs group exhibiting a significantly greater reduction(P<0.05).The Obs group also experienced a significantly lower overall hospital infection rate(P<0.05).Similarly,while baseline 36-Item Short Form Health Survey scores did not differ significantly between the groups(P>0.05),post-care scores improved in both groups, with a greater improvement observed in the Obs group(P<0.05).Additionally,the Obs group reported higher patient satisfaction ratings(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The combination of 222-nm UV disinfection and empathetic psychological care improves emotional states, reduces hospital infection rates, enhances the quality of life, and increases patient satisfaction among critically ill patients. 展开更多
