“Professional Guiding Standards for Advanced Education Architecture in University Undergraduate Students”(2013 edition)indicates that the education system of architecture should include a section on“environment and...“Professional Guiding Standards for Advanced Education Architecture in University Undergraduate Students”(2013 edition)indicates that the education system of architecture should include a section on“environment and site.”It should involve six learning components which are concepts of site and environment,site terrain classifications,environment of two tendencies,elements involved in the sites,elements of environmental impact,and site design.[1]As site design(drawing)has become a significant topic in the examination of registered architects,many domestic architecture colleges have set up site design courses as independent ones.After more than ten years of exploration and research in developing the education system of site design courses,teaching experiences and achievements have been acquired.Site design courses have been gradually integrated with general plan design,registered architect examination,and architectural programming.Teachers have specified relevant learning goals in the regular daily curriculum in addition to the basic and vocational education of architecture.In this way,the site design course would be more in line with the educational goals of architecture.This paper aims to analyze the education of site design courses in hope of developing the future architectural education.展开更多
Architectural programming is of significant importance in improving urban planning efficiency,enhancing the sustainability of the construction industry,and supporting the development of social infrastructure.However,d...Architectural programming is of significant importance in improving urban planning efficiency,enhancing the sustainability of the construction industry,and supporting the development of social infrastructure.However,due to its broad scope and complex content,research in this area exhibits diverse and scattered characteristics.To comprehensively understand the current status,progress,and future directions of architectural programming research,and to provide recommendations for both China and other countries,this study conducted a comparative review of relevant literature using a mixed method approach of bibliometrics,latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA)topic modeling,and systematic review.The study summarized the differences between China and other countries in six topics within the field of architectural programming:(1)intelligent and digital methods,(2)sustainability and practices,(3)project management and decision support,(4)urban planning and existing development,(5)social infrastructure and public services,and(6)architectural education and talent cultivation.This study provides an overview and comparative analysis on architectural programming,offering important reference for future research and practice,and promoting the overall development of the construction industry.展开更多
China's large public buildings (LPBs) often become problematic after on|y a few years' operation, leading to shortened building lifespans. Lacking architectural programming was identified by the industry regulato...China's large public buildings (LPBs) often become problematic after on|y a few years' operation, leading to shortened building lifespans. Lacking architectural programming was identified by the industry regulators as a contributing factor to this. Despite a policy shift on the government side since 2007, little evaluation of the actual situation has been made. To raise awareness and attention to this pressing issue from the building industry, its regulators and the general public, a questionnaire survey focusing on the top-tier sector of professional practice in programming LPBs was carried out in Shanghai, China in 2009. The objectives were to evaluate current trends and pressing issues, identify major challenges and opportunities, and make recommendations for improvement. This paper presents a six-part analysis of the survey's findings from 57 professionals and clients who shared their hands-on experience on various programming issues and provided first-hand data of 90 LPBs developed in the 2000s. This pioneering study revealed significant gaps between the real and best practices as well as the mentat reluctance and skill mismatch in delivering quality programming services. Given the persisting nature of identified problems, more research work should be done to catatyze a paradigmatic shift amon industry players.展开更多
