The pressure exerted by the work environment demands the utilization of defensive and coping strategies to deal with it. Our study aims to explore the relationship between professional stress factors, stress symptoms, and the consumption of psychoactive substances as a defensive and coping strategy deployed to address psychological distress at work. A qualitative and quantitative study was conducted with a sample of 405 employees from a wiring manufacturing. The main professional stress factors identified were concentration, overload, long working hours, and monotony, which showed a significant correlation with PAS consumption. Women were found to be more affected by stress and tended to consume more sedatives. Among the respondents, 21.98% reported PAS consumption, with tobacco being the most commonly used (M = 2.66), followed by alcohol (M = 1.94), cannabis (M = 1.79), and sedatives (M = 1.45). There was a significant positive correlation between PAS consumption and stress symptoms {tobacco (r = 0.232*), alcohol (r = 0.305**), cannabis (r = 0.389**)}.展开更多

文摘As world events have morphed teachers’roles within English medium of instruction(EMI)contexts to incorporate more online teaching practices, teachers’integration of digital tools has faced technological and curricular challenges. While previous research has examined the integration of digital tools in face-to-face and hybrid EMI settings(e.g.,Finardi,2015;O’Dowd,2018),more research is needed to understand the familiarization process teachers engage in as they implement fully-online teaching to support their content and language integrated learning(CLIL)teaching. As part of a larger project, this case study sets out to fill this gap by examining the practices and perspectives of 30 Kazakhstani university teachers who adopted CLIL approaches while needing to adapt to fully-online teaching contexts.Using the concept of technological pedagogical content knowledge(Mishra&Koehler,2006)in tandem with Ball et al.’s(2016)seven CLIL principles as a framework, this study thematically analyzed workshop artifacts, survey responses,semi-structured interview transcripts, and videos from online class lessons to find that teachers were mediators and curators of content, language, pedagogy, and digital tools. The findings offer pedagogical insights for the implementation of professional development(PD)to prepare teachers to meaningfully curate and mediate technology into their CLIL pedagogy to teach content within EMI contexts.
文摘Work-related stress has become an alarming reality that continues to intensify over the past decades. There was a significant positive correlation between PAS consumption and stress symptoms {tobacco (r = 0.232*), alcohol (r = 0.305**), cannabis (r = 0.389**)}.

文摘Higher education is at the top of the educational hierarchy. With the booming development of the economy and society in China, its scale is also expanding greatly.Professional course teaching is a key component of higher education, and it plays a vital role in cultivating professionalism and even the overall level of students.According to several problems existing in the current teaching practice of professional courses at our universities,in order to improve the teaching quality to meet the requirements in the emerging engineering era, related strategies and approaches for teaching reform are proposed as follows.Firstly,we advance the traditional classroom teaching into the modern one with equal double-subjects of teachers and students to cultivate the active and comprehensive learning ability of students.Secondly, the scientific research practice-oriented teaching method is introduced, and it contributes to connecting theory with engineering practice for students.Thirdly, the diversified course assessment system is explored, and a closed-loop quality control strategy is discussed on the basis of a questionnaire survey and face-to-face interview.By questionnaires and final assessments,it is clear that teaching qualities of related professional courses are satisfactory in recent years, and the methods and strategies can be widely applied to the teaching practice of other courses.
文摘This study examined the relationships among workplace spirituality, mindfulness, mental well-being,and organizational commitment in professional female dancers.A total of 424 dancers from the United States participated in the survey.Structural equation modeling indicated that workplace spirituality was positively associated with both mental well-being and organizational commitment, whereas mindfulness was significantly related only to organizational commitment.Mental well-being was a significant predictor of organizational commitment and mediated the relationship between workplace spirituality and organizational commitment, but not between mindfulness and commitment. These results suggest that workplace spirituality functions as a psychological resource that enhances emotional health and strengthens organizational engagement.Thesefindings are consistent with self-determination theory, highlighting the role of value congruence and intrinsic purpose in sustaining motivation in high-performance contexts. Moreover, the studyfindings underscore the importance of fostering spiritually supportive work environments to promote psychological well-being and long-term organizational commitment.

文摘BACKGROUND Global tumor incidence rises and therapies advance, driving oncology nursing specialization.Granting nurses prescriptive authority optimizes care but polarizes nurses'attitudes due to factors like risk and competence, hindering policy implementation.AIM To investigate the current status of the attitudes of oncology specialist nurses toward having prescribing authority, specifically concerning symptom management and supportive care in oncology practice, and we conducted a path analysis of their influencing factors.METHODS As participants in the survey, oncology specialist nurses working in hospitals of different grades in Jiangsu Province were selected from March 2025 to May 2025 using a stratified sampling method. The questionnaires were administered using the general information questionnaire, the beliefs and attitudes about nurses'prescriptive authority scale, the nurses'professional identity scale, and the selfefficacy scale.Pearson’s method was used to analyze the correlation between beliefs and attitudes about the prescriptive authority, professional identity, and self-efficacy of nurses.Multiple linear regression was performed to analyze the factors influencing the beliefs and attitudes of nurses’prescriptive authority. The Amos plug-in was used to construct structural equation models to analyze the influencing pathways.RESULTS A total of 329 questionnaires were distributed, and 328 valid questionnaires were returned(effective recovery rate:99.70%).The total score of the 328 oncology nurses on the beliefs and attitudes about nurses'prescriptive authority scale was 101.88±15.13,indicating a moderately high level.Univariate analysis revealed that gender and hospital grade were associated with this score(P<0.05).The Pearson correlation analysis revealed that self-efficacy was positively correlated with the scores of the beliefs and attitudes about nurses’prescriptive authority scale and the nurses’professional identity scale(r=0.4999,P<0.0001 and r=0.7048,P<0.05,respectively),whereas occupational identity was positively correlated only with the former(r=0.6209,P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis revealed occupational identity and self-efficacy as the factors influencing the scores of the beliefs and attitudes about nurses’prescriptive authority scale(P<0.05).The results of the path analysis revealed that selfefficacy significantly positively affected nurses’occupational identity and their beliefs and attitudes about having prescriptive authority;occupational identity played a mediating role between the two, with a mediating effect accounting for 54.46% of the total effect, and the structural equation model was well-fitted.CONCLUSION Oncology nurses have more positive attitudes toward prescriptive authority. In addition,self-efficacy positively and indirectly affects nurses’attitudes toward prescriptive authority through the mediating effect of occupational identity. This can be used as a basis for clinical practice to take targeted measures to improve nurses’self-efficacy and occupational identity, thus creating favorable conditions for effectively implementing the policy of prescriptive authority.

文摘Cultivation metaphors that compare teachers and students to gardeners and plants, respectively, have a long presence in the field of education. While such metaphors can be used to represent learner-centered pedagogies in which a teacher fosters the growth of their students, there is also a darker side to cultivation metaphors. For instance,Zipory(2020)argues that characteristics of agriculture’s grain economy-like repetitiveness, coercion, and lack of diversity-can be imposed onto education.Following Zipory’s call for the forest to serve as a more apt metaphorical trajectory for education,I propose using the forest garden as a middle ground between the traditional garden and the natural forest. To highlight the potential usefulness of the forest garden metaphor in education,I explore its application as related to teacher professional development(PD),specifically content and language integrated learning(CLIL)PD.By reflecting on the design and outcomes of Project SCILLA,a CLIL PD program for Kazakhstani university instructors,as well as CLIL PD more broadly,I demonstrate how the forest garden metaphor conceptualizes the relationships and power dynamics between and across various stakeholders in education in response to global rhetoric, national and local policies, and interpersonal interactions.By emulating the sustainable forest garden’s principles of planning and intentionality, localization, interconnectedness, diversity, creativity, and growth from decay, stakeholders can(re)shape the policies and practices of multilingual, multicultural education systems. In addition, education researchers can use a metaphorical forest garden lens to better appreciate the complexities at play within dynamic educational landscapes.
