To control the tri-modal microstructure and performance,a prediction model of tri-modal microstructure in the isothermal local loading forming of titanium alloy was developed. The staged isothermal local loading experiment on TA15alloy indicates that there exist four important microstructure evolution phenomena in the development of tri-modal microstructure,i.e.,the generation of lamellarα,content variation of equiaxedα,spatial orientation change of lamellarαand globularization of lamellarα.Considering the laws of these microstructure phenomena, the microstructure model was established to correlate the parameters of tri-modal microstructure and processing conditions. Then, the developed microstructure model was integrated with finite element(FE)model to predict the tri-modal microstructure in the isothermal local loading forming. Its reliability and accuracy were verified by the microstructure observation at different locations of sample.Good agreements between the predicted and experimental results suggest that the developed microstructure model and its combination with FE model are effective in the prediction of tri-modal microstructure in the isothermal local loading forming of TA15alloy. 展开更多

In this study, the effects of Al addition on the corrosion behavior of pure Mg with controlled impurity contents were systematically analyzed according to the processing history. The results revealed that the corrosion behavior of high-purity Mg-Al alloys is strongly related to changes in the microstructure, including theβphase and Al-Mn or Al-Fe phases, and the protectiveness of the surface film according to the Al content and processing history. In the as-cast alloys, the corrosion rate increased due to the increase ofβphase as the Al content increased, but in the as-extruded alloys, the corrosion rate, which was high due to intermetallic compounds caused by impurities in the low Al alloy, decreased as the Al content increased, and then increased again. This is due to the combined effect of the increase of theβphase and decrease of the impurity effect, and the increase of the dissolved Al content. The results suggest that it is necessary to analyze the effect of alloying elements on the corrosion behavior of pure Mg with information concerning the impurity content and processing history. 展开更多

The theory of“Salt-processing enhancing drug into kidney meridian”was firstly put forward by Chen Jiamu,a medical doctor of Xin’an,in“Enlightening Primer of Materia Medica”.This theory integrates the theory of the five elements of Chinese medicine that the five flavors enter into the five viscera, and forms the theory of the role of the auxiliary materials of Chinese medicine concoctions. This theory is an important guiding significance for the clinical use of raw and cooked Chinese medicine tablets. At present, there are more studies on the theory of“Salt-processing enhancing drug into kidney meridian”in the literature, mainly focusing on the chemical composition, efficacy changes and the concoction mechanism of salt products of traditional Chinese medicines before and after salt preparation. There are relatively few review papers on the theory of“Salt-processing enhancing drug into kidney meridian”from the perspectives of auxiliary salt and attribution of meridians. In this paper, through reviewing relevant ancient books and literature, and on the basis of the previous review articles, this paper centers on the auxiliary salt, and conducts in-depth excavation and elaboration in terms of its sources, types, and the historical evolution of the salt production method. From the perspective of categorization, focusing on the core theory of“Kidney stores essence, governing reproduction, bone and generating marrow, water and brain”,we summarize the changes in efficacy before and after the salt preparation of kidney tonic traditional Chinese medicines, the changes in external and internal constituents as well as the scientific connotation of the concocting mechanism behind the effect-constituent changes. The scientific connotation of the concoction theory of“Salt-processing enhancing drug into kidney meridian”was initially elucidated, providing a new reference model for the study of the theory of Chinese medicine concoction attribution. 展开更多

The northern Guangxi region is an important rare metal, rare earth metal and polymetallic metallogenic province. In the region there exist five metallogenic series and two metallogenic subseries, whose metallogenesis shows features of polycyclic spiral evolution throughout the geological history. As far as various cycles are concerned, mantle-derived ore substances were reduced while crust-derived ore substances increased from early to late timesfin the whole geological evolutionary history, mantle-derived substances decreased gradually while crust-derived ones increased. Meanwhile ore element associations became more and more varied. In terms of space, mineralization migrated from the old basement outwards, i.e. from west to east during the Precambrian, and from north to south during the Phanerozoic, and again from east to west during the Yanshanian. 展开更多

Three recent breakthroughs due to AI in arts and science serve as motivation:An award winning digital image, protein folding, fast matrix multiplication. Many recent developments in artificial neural networks, particularly deep learning(DL),applied and relevant to computational mechanics(solid,fluids,finite-element technology)are reviewed in detail. Both hybrid and pure machine learning(ML)methods are discussed.Hybrid methods combine traditional PDE discretizations with ML methods either(1)to help model complex nonlinear constitutive relations,(2)to nonlinearly reduce the model order for efficient simulation(turbulence),or(3)to accelerate the simulation by predicting certain components in the traditional integration methods.Here,methods(1)and(2)relied on Long-Short-Term Memory(LSTM)architecture, with method(3)relying on convolutional neural networks.Pure ML methods to solve(nonlinear)PDEs are represented by Physics-Informed Neural network(PINN)methods, which could be combined with attention mechanism to address discontinuous solutions. Both LSTM and attention architectures, together with modern and generalized classic optimizers to include stochasticity for DL networks, are extensively reviewed.Kernel machines, including Gaussian processes, are provided to sufficient depth for more advanced works such as shallow networks with infinite width. Not only addressing experts, readers are assumed familiar with computational mechanics, but not with DL,whose concepts and applications are built up from the basics, aiming at bringing first-time learners quickly to the forefront of research.History and limitations of AI are recounted and discussed, with particular attention at pointing out misstatements or misconceptions of the classics, even in well-known references.Positioning and pointing control of a large-deformable beam is given as an example. 展开更多

The more than thirty legal disputes and cases mentioned in The Plum in the Golden Vase (Jinpingmei) make this late Ming novel an invaluable source for the study of law and legal culture in premodern China. This lecture illustrates that the cases in the novel describe in considerable detail each of the formal steps in the Ming process of legal adjudication. But the work also conveys the message that despite the formal process, the legal system does not deliver justice. However, an alternative system of justice that is mostly implicit in the text, the justice of a disinterested and moral Heaven, ultimately prevails. Finally, the contemporary implications of this traditional understanding of law and justice are explored. 展开更多
