The tool rotational speed was varied from 800 to 1200 r/min in step of 200 r/min. The traverse speed, axial force, groove width and tool pin profile were kept constant. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to study the microstructure of the fabricated surface composites. The sliding wear behavior was evaluated using a pin-on-disc apparatus. The results indicate that the tool rotational speed significantly influences the area of the surface composite and the distribution of B4C particles. Higher rotational speed exhibits homogenous distribution of B4C particles, while lower rotational speed causes poor distribution of B4C particles in the surface composite. The effects of tool rotational speed on the grain size, microhardness, wear rate, worn surface and wear debris were reported.展开更多

文摘Electrocatalytic oxidation is a promising technology for wastewater treatment, but poor mass transfer and low current efficiency impaded its engineering applications. To address these issues, researchers have developed flow-through electrochemical reactors(FERs)primarily based on porous electrodes, where the pore structure significantly impacts the electrochemical reaction. Therefore, this study systematically investigated the impact of different pore sizes on the fluid dynamics, current potential distribution, mass transfer processes, and degradation performance of FERs.Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)results indicated that smaller pore sizes(10μm,30μm,and 60μm)significantly enhanced convective effects within the fluid, reduced short fluid paths and dead volume regions within the microchannels, and facilitated mass transfer processes.Additionally, smaller pore sizes were conducive to a uniform distribution of current density.Furthermore,Fe(CN)_(6)^(4−)oxidation experiments revealed that the current density at a pore size of 160μm was notably lower than that at 10μm,indicating slower mass transfer of Fe(CN)_(6)^(4−)within larger channels.Calculations based on experimental results demonstrated that the mass transfer rate at a pore size of 10μm was six times than that at 160μm,further confirming the enhancing effect of smaller pore sizes on the mass transfer process.Lastly, experiments on tetracycline degradation showed that at a residence time of 90 s,the removal efficiencies of tetracycline were 80%and 39.1%for porous electrodes with pore sizes of 10μm and 160μm,respectively,demonstrating the superior removal efficiency of smaller pore sizes for tetracycline degradation.

文摘An attempt was made to synthesize Cu/B4C surface composite using friction stir processing(FSP) and to analyze the influence of tool rotational speed on microstructure and sliding wear behavior of the composite. The effects of tool rotational speed on the grain size, microhardness, wear rate, worn surface and wear debris were reported.

文摘Real-time detection of low-speed motion and precise monitoring of low-intensity exercise are crucial for smart fitness systems. These capabilities enable continuous data acquisition, capture subtle motion variations for personalized guidance, and enhance training effectiveness while reducing the risk of injury. However, conventional rotational speed sensors often exhibit signal loss and limited responsiveness at low speeds, leading to inaccurate feedback and constraining the development of intelligent fitness devices. Therefore, this paper proposes a triboelectric rotational speed sensor(TRSS),which employs a coaxial reverse magnetic modulation transmission mechanism to enhance low-speed monitoring, thereby overcoming low-speed signal loss. The sensor enables real-time detection of rotational speed in fitness equipment, and features a compact structure, doubled resolution, and high detection accuracy of 0.21 rad s−1.Performance test indicates a sensitivity of 3.15 Hz(rad s−1)−1,a linear correlation coefficient of 0.99892,and an average error of 1.19%in simulated tests, which demonstrates the capability of the sensor for accurate motion monitoring at low speeds.Furthermore,a triboelectric magnetic-modulated rotational monitoring system(TMRMS)is developed and validated through cycling experiments, demonstrating excellent performance across a wide speed range. These findings highlight the strong potential of the system for advancing next-generation smart fitness applications.
文摘Management of patients with acute hemorrhage requires addressing the source of bleeding, replenishing blood volume, and addressing any coagulopathy that may be present.Assessing coagulopathy and predicting blood requirements in real-time in patients experiencing ongoing bleeding can pose substantial challenges. In these patients, transfusion concepts based on ratios do not effectively address coagulopathy or reduce mortality.Moreover,ratio-based concepts do not stop bleeding;instead, they just give physicians more time to identify the bleeding source and plan management strategies. In clinical practice, standard laboratory coagulation tests(SLCT)are frequently used to assess various aspects of blood clotting. However, these tests may not always offer a comprehensive under-standing of clinically significant coagulopathy and the severity of blood loss.Furthermore, the SLCT have a considerable turnaround time, which may not be ideal for making prompt clinical decisions. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in point-of-care viscoelastic assays like rotational thromboelast-ometry,which provide real-time,dynamic information about clot formation and dissolution.
文摘The effect of hot band annealing processes—batch annealing and continuous annealing—on the texture evolution and ridging performance of ferritic stainless steel was investigated. The surface and central layers of the hot band exhibited strong shear and plane deformation textures, respectively. After batch annealing, the texture intensity of the hot-rolled sheet texture significantly decreased, and a weak recrystallization texture appeared, while fully recrystallized grains occurred after continuous annealing.A complete recrystallized{111}texture was obtained after recrystallization annealing. The sheet subjected to continuous annealing exhibited the highest intensity of{111}texture,which was accompanied by a dispersed grain orientation distribution, resulting in the lowest ridging height.

文摘Magnesium and magnesium alloys, serving as crucial lightweight structural materials and hydrogen storage elements, find extensive applications in space technology, aviation, automotive, and magnesium-based hydrogen industries. The global production of primary magnesium has reached approximately 1.2 million tons per year, with anticipated diversification in future applications and significant market demand.Nevertheless, approximately 80%of the world’s primary magnesium is still manufactured through the Pidgeon process, grappling with formidable issues including high energy consumption, massive carbon emission, significant resource depletion, and environmental pollution. The implementation of the relative vacuum method shows potential in breaking through technological challenges in the Pidgeon process, facilitating clean,low-carbon continuous magnesium smelting. This paper begins by introducing the principles of the relative vacuum method.Subsequently,it elucidates various innovative process routes, including relative vacuum ferrosilicon reduction, aluminum thermal reduction co-production of spinel, and aluminum thermal reduction co-production of calcium aluminate. Finally, and thermodynamic foundations of the relative vacuum,a quantitative analysis of the material, energy flows, carbon emission, and production cost for several new processes is conducted, comparing and analyzing them against the Pidgeon process. The study findings reveal that, with identical raw materials, the relative vacuum silicon thermal reduction process significantly decreases raw material consumption, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions by 15.86%,30.89%,and 26.27%,respectively,compared to the Pidgeon process. The relative vacuum process, using magnesite as the raw material and aluminum as the reducing agent, has the lowest magnesium-to-feed ratio,at only 3.385.Additionally,its energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are the lowest,at 1.817 tce/t Mg and 7.782 t CO_(2)/t Mg,respectively. The energy consumption and carbon emissions of the relative vacuum magnesium smelting process co-producing calcium aluminate(12CaO·7Al_(2)O_(3),3CaO·Al_(2)O_(3),and CaO·Al_(2)O_(3))are highly correlated with the consumption of dolomite in the raw materials. When the reduction temperature is around 1473.15 K,the critical volume fraction of magnesium vapor for different processes varies within the range of 5%–40%.Production cost analysis shows that the relative vacuum primary magnesium smelting process has significant economic benefits. This paper offers essential data support and theoretical guidance for achieving energy efficiency, carbon reduction in magnesium smelting, and the industrial adoption of innovative processes.

文摘Current research on heterogeneous advanced oxidation processes(HAOPs)predominantly emphasizes catalyst iteration and innovation.Significant efforts have been made to regulate the electron structure and optimize the electron distribution, thereby increasing the catalytic activity. However, this focus often overshadows an equally essential aspect of HAOPs:the adsorption effect.Adsorption is a critical initiator for triggering the interaction of oxidants and contaminants with heterogeneous catalysts. The efficacy of these interactions is influenced by a variety of physicochemical properties, including surface chemistry and pore sizes, which determine the affinities between contaminants and material surfaces. This dispar ity in affinity is pivotal because it underpins the selective removal of contaminants, especially in complex waste streams containing diverse contaminants and competing matrices.Consequently, understanding and mastering these interfacial interactions is fundamentally indispensable not only for improving pro cess efficiency but also for enhancing the selectivity of contaminant removal.Herein,we highlight the importance of adsorption-driven interfacial interactions for fundamentally elucidating the catalytic mechanisms of HAOPs.Such interactions dictate the overall performance of the treatment processes by balancing the adsorption, reaction, and desorption rates on the catalyst surfaces.Elucidating the adsorption effect not only shifts the paradigm in understanding HAOPs but also improves their practical ity in water treatment and wastewater decontamination.Overall,we propose that revisiting adsorption driven interfacial interactions holds great promise for optimizing catalytic processes to develop effective HAOP strategies.

文摘In oil and gas well cementing processes, accurately predicting the bottom hole circulating temperature(BHCT)is critical to ensuring effective zonal isolation.Overestimating the temperature can lead to excessive retardation issues, while underestimation can cause cementing accidents.Current methods for calculating the BHCT of cement slurry typically simplify the cementing processes to a single-fluid circulation and ignore the impact of pre-cementing processes on temperature, leading to significant discrepancies between calculated and actual results. In this study, the wellbore and formation are simplified into a two-dimensional axisymmetric structure, and a mathematical model of the temperature field under multi-fluid and multi-step conditions is established based on the law of energy conservation. The finite volume method was used to discretize the model, and a transient temperature field solver for the entire cementing process was developed, which can numerically calculate the temperature of any fluid at any time, any location. For an actual well example, the temperature distribution of the wellbore and formation after casing running is taken as the initial condition.Numerical calculations were performed sequentially to calculate the temperature fields of circulation flushing, wellbore preparation, and cementing,as well as the BHCT of the cement slurry. The study reveals that during the circulation flushing stage, the maximum temperature point in the wellbore is located at a distance of about 366 m above the bottom of the well.In the wellbore preparation stage, due to static heat exchange, the maximum temperature point gradually shifts to the bottom of the well. The BHCT of cement slurry changes continuously under cementing processes with multi-fluid and multi-step,making it a transient value. The BHCT of the lead slurry and tail slurry are not equal, with the maximum BHCT of the tail slurry being 2.46°C higher than that of the lead slurry. If circulation flushing and wellbore preparation are not considered, the calculated BHCT of the cement slurry will have errors of+6.8%and-1.9%.The study highlighted that considering thermal effects of all cementing stages, such as circulation flushing and wellbore preparation,in BHCT calculations can help improve prediction accuracy.

文摘Wheat-maize(WM)and wheat-soybean(WS)double-cropping rotation systems are predominant in the North China Plain, with implications for national agricultural output and sustainability. As rotation systems exert legacy effects on soil health and crop productivity, the role of crop rotation in shaping the root-associated microbiome of the succeeding crops has emerged as a pivotal aspect of crop management research. Here, the effects of the preceding two cycles of WM and WS rotations on the recruitment and filtering of wheat root-associated bacterial communities across wheat developmental stages were investigated. Our results revealed that bacterial community diversity and composition were primarily influenced by compartment and developmental stage, while the preceding rotation systems had a slight but significant effect on wheat root-associated bacterial communities. The co-occurrence networks under WM were more complex in the wheat rhizosphere and rhizoplane, with the operational taxonomic units(OTUs)related to cellulolysis showing greater connectivity. The co-occurrence networks under WS were simple but stable in the rhizosphere and complex in the rhizoplane and endosphere, with the OTUs related to ureolysis and nitrogen fixation showing greater connectivity. While both stochastic and deterministic processes contributed to the assembly of wheat root-associated bacterial communities, the contributions of deterministic processes under WS were 19.4-38.5%higher than those under the WM rotation across the root-associated compartments, indicating the substantial impact of a soybean legacy effect on wheat root selection of microbes.Plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria with the potential to fix nitrogen, produce indole-3-acetic acid, and inhibit diseases such as Betaproteobacteriales,Azospirillales and Dyella sp.,were identified within the OTUs that were consistently enriched across all the wheat root-associated compartments and developmental stages, which were also important predictors of wheat yield. This study elucidates the role of crop rotation in modulating the dynamics of crop root-associated bacterial communities, and underscores the potential of targeted microbiome manipulation for optimizing wheat production and enhancing soil health.

文摘Electrical energy can be harvested from the rotational kinetic energy of moving bodies, consisting of both mechanical and kinetic energy as a potential power source through electromagnetic induction, similar to wind energy applications. In industries, rotational bodies are commonly present in operations, yet this kinetic energy remains untapped. This research explores the energy generation characteristics of two rotational body types,disk-shaped and cylinder-shaped under specific experimental setups. The hardware setup included a direct current(DC)motor driver, power supply,DC generator, mechanical support, and load resistance, while the software setup involved automation testing tools and data logging.Electromagnetic induction was used to harvest energy, and experiments were conducted at room temperature(25℃)with controlled variables like speed and friction. Results showed the disk-shaped body exhibited higher energy efficiency than the cylinder-shaped body, largely due to lower mechanical losses. The disk required only two bearings, while the cylinder required four, resulting in lower bearing losses for the disk.Additionally, the disk experienced only air friction, whereas the cylinder encountered friction from a soft, uneven rubber material, increasing surface contact losses.Under a 40 W resistive load, the disk demonstrated a 17.1%energy loss due to mechanical friction, achieving up to 15.55 J of recycled energy.Conversely, the cylinder body experienced a 48.05%energy loss, delivering only 51.95%of energy to the load. These insights suggest significant potential for designing efficient energy recycling systems in industrial settings, particularly in manufacturing and processing industries where rotational machinery is prevalent.Despite its lower energy density, this system could be beneficially integrated with energy storage solutions, enhancing sustainability in industrial practices.

文摘Convectively unstable processes caused by dense water subsidence are common occurrences in high-latitude oceanic regions, and significantly modulate mass and heat transport and mixing processes in the ocean. An idealized numerical experiment using the large eddy simulation method was conducted to analyze the three-dimensional flow field structure and the mechanism for dense water subsidence.Specifically,a negative salt flux is set at the sea surface,in which salt flux enters the sea surface to simulate the icing and salting-out phenomena that occur at high latitudes. Results show that the mean-state 3D flow field of dense water subsidence exhibits a hollow conical distribution. The horizontal flow field is characterized by a cyclonic vortex that driven primarily by the pressure gradient and influenced by the Coriolis effect. Moreover, the inverse vertical pressure gradient generated by this vortex inhibits the sinking of the plume, leading to its off-axis deflection and the development of an anticyclonic precession. In addition, the impact of rotation on the structure of a sinking plume within a stratified environment is discussed. Both horizontal vortex intensity and cone angle of the hollow cone flow field are increased with increasing rotation rate, resulting in a decrease in the plume’s maximum sinking depth.Variances in rotation direction cause the horizontal vortex and sinking plumes of dense water in the northern and southern hemispheres to rotate in opposite directions.
文摘Nano-sized reinforcements improved the mechanical characteristics efficiently by promoting more implicit particle hardening mechanisms compared to micron-sized reinforcements.Nano-sized particles lessen the critical particle solidification velocity for swamp and thus offers better dispersal. In the present investigation, the friction stir processing(FSP)is utilized to produce AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposites at various tool rotation speeds(i.e.,900,1200,and 1500 rpm)with an optimized 1.5%volume alumina(Al_(2)O_(3))reinforcement ratio. The mechanical and corrosion behavior of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)-developed nanocomposites was investigated and compared with that of the AZ31 base alloy. The AZ31 alloy experienced a comprehensive dynamic recrystallization during FSP,causing substantial grain refinement.Grain-size strengthening is the primary factor contributed to the enhancement in the strength of the fabricated nanocomposite.Tensile strength and yield strength values were lower than those for the base metal matrix, although an upward trend in both values has been observed with an increase in tool rotation speed. An 19.72%increase in hardness along with superior corrosion resistance was achieved compared to the base alloy at a tool rotational speed of 1500 rpm.The corrosion currents(Jcorr)of all samples dropped with increase in the rotational speed,in contrast to the corrosion potentials(Ecorr),which increased. The values of Jcorr of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)were 42.3%,56.8%,and 65.5%lower than those of AZ31 alloy at the chosen rotating speeds of 900,1200,and 1500 rpm, respectively. The corrosion behavior of friction stir processed nanocomposites have been addressed in this manuscript which has not been given sufficient attention in the existing literature.Further, this work offers an effective choice for the quality assurance of the FSP process of AZ31/Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposites.The obtained results are relevant to the development of lightweight automobile and aerospace structures and components.
