The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel(hereinafter referred to as"HKRITA")and Seiko Epson Corporation(hereinafter referred to as"Epson")have succeeded in developing new regenerated cellulose fiber with a silk-like sheen from waste cotton fabric through a new production process.A movement toward using fibers recycled from discarded clothing has been gaining momentum,driven by a growing recognition of waste clothing as a global environmental issue.In Europe in particular,a move is under way to use more regenerated fiber and reduce textile waste. 展开更多

The design and preparation of outstanding catalysts are significant for the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER),which performs a crucial function in electrochemical water splitting.Herein,we have prepared metal–organic framework(MOF)nanosheets on a nickel foam(NF)substrate via a two-step procedure including a hydrothermal reaction and an in situ transformation process.As for the anodic OER process,the obtained NiFe-MOF@NF demonstrates excellent catalytic performance with a small overpotential of 265 mV to reach a current density of 10 mA cm^(−2),and impressive long-term catalytic durability and stability without obvious deactivation.The superior electrocatalytic performance of the obtained NiFe-MOF@NF material is mainly due to the substantial active metal centres,enhanced electrical conductivity and favorable kinetics.We believe that the strategy will be of great benefit to the development of highly efficient metal electrocatalysts,and will pave the way for the application of metal catalysts in the OER. 展开更多

Hollow nanoparticle-assembled hierarchical NiCo_(2)O_(4)nanofibers with enhanced electro-chemical performance for lithium-ion batteries

Significant capacity degradation and a dramatic volume change call for effective strategies to address the intrinsic issues of transition metal oxide anodes of lithium-ion batteries.Rational nanostructural design has shown great promise in improving structural stability and electrochemical performance.We here report the fabrication of hollow nanoparticle-assembled hierarchical NiCo_(2)O_(4)nanofibers via a facile elec-trospining technique and annealing process.A set of control experiments and systematic characterization demonstrate that the presence of polymers and an appropriate annealing procedure are key to form a novel nanostructured anode.The hollow nanostructure and abundant mesopores centered at about 20 nm in the nanofibers could effectively suppress severe volume variations in the lithiation/delithiation process.Furthermore,the novel nanoparticle-nanofiber hierarchical architecture could shorten the lithium diffusion length,increase the contact areas between the electrode and electrolyte,and accord-ingly promote fast electron/charge transfer.As expected,the optimized hierarchical NiCo_(2)O_(4)nanofibers exhibit excellent performance for Li-ion batteries,delivering a capacity of 926.2 mA h g^(−1)at 0.1 A g^(−1)and 687 mA h g^(−1)at a high current density of 2 A g^(−1).This work may provide an attractive and promising strat-egy for advancing transition metal oxide anodes. 展开更多

Quickly and accurately obtaining the internal temperature distribution of a transformer plays a key role in predicting its operating conditions and simplifying the maintenance process.A reasonable equivalent thermal circuit model is a relatively reliable method of obtaining the internal temperature distribution.However,thermal circuit models without targeted consideration of operating conditions and parameter corrections usually limit the accuracy of the results.This paper proposed a five-node transient thermal circuit model with the introduction of nonlinear thermal resistance,which considered the internal structure and winding layout of the core-type high-frequency transformer.The Nusselt number,a crucial variable in heat convection calculations and directly related to the accuracy of thermal resistance parameters,was calibrated on the basis of the distribution of external cooling air.After parameter calibration,the maximum computational error of the hotspot temperature is reduced by 5.48%compared with that of the uncalibrated model.Finally,an experimental platform for temperature monitoring was established to validate the five-node model and its ability to track the temperature change at each reference point after calibrating the Nusselt number. 展开更多
