Near-infrared (NIR) and mid-infrared (MIR) technology combined with supervised pattern recognition based on partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLSDA) was attempted to classify and recognize six different concocted processing pieces of 600 Areca catechu L. samples and the influence of fingerprint information preprocessing methods on recognition performance was also investigated in this work. Recognition rates of 99.24%, 100% and 99.49% for original fingerprint, multiple scatter correct (MSC) fingerprint and second derivative (2nd derivative) fingerprint of NIR spectra were achieved by PLSDA models, respectively. Meanwhile, a perfect recognition rate of 100% was obtained for the above three fingerprint models of MIR spectra. In conclusion, PLSDA can rapidly and effectively extract otherness of fingerprint information from NIR and MIR spectra to identify different concocted herbal pieces ofA. catechu.展开更多

Based on the different ionizing radiation damage in SiGe HBTs fabricated by Huajie and an IBM SiGe process, quantitatively numerical simulation of ionizing radiation damage was carried out to explicate the distribution of radiation-induced charges buildup in KT9041 and IBM SiGe HBTs. The sensitive areas of the EB-spacer and isolation oxide of KT9041 are much larger than those of the IBM SiGe HBT, and the distribution of charge buildup in KT9041 is several orders of magnitude greater than that of the IBM SiGe HBT. The result suggests that the simulations are consistent with the experiment, and indicates that the geometry of the EB-spacer, the area of the Si/SiO2 interface and the isolation structure could be contributing to the different ionizing radiation damage.展开更多

In this paper, we have selected staphylococcal protein A (SPA) and swine immunoglobulin G (IgG), and monitor the bindings between SPA and swine IgG with different concentrations, as well as the dissociations of SPA-swine IgG complex in different pH values of phosphate buffer by oblique-incidence reflectivity difference (OIRD) in a label-free and real-time fashion. We obtain the ON and OFF reaction dynamic curves corresponding to the bindings and dissociations of SPA and swine IgG. Through our analysis of the experimental results, we have been able to obtain the damping coefficients and the dissociation time of SPA and swine IgG for different pH values of the phosphate buffer. The results prove that the OIRD technique is a competing method for monitoring the dynamic processes of biomolecule interaction and achieving the quantitative information of reaction kinetics.展开更多

Black rice bran is a great source of dietary fiber,including soluble dietary fiber(SDF)and insoluble dietary fiber(IDF).The fermentation characteristics of dietary fiber,which significantly influence its health benefi...Black rice bran is a great source of dietary fiber,including soluble dietary fiber(SDF)and insoluble dietary fiber(IDF).The fermentation characteristics of dietary fiber,which significantly influence its health benefits,vary depending on the fiber source and processing methods.This study investigated the impact of steam explosion(SE),extrusion,and high-pressure steaming on the fermentation characteristics of IDF and SDF derived from black rice bran.The results demonstrated that all processed dietary fibers enhanced the production of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)after 24 h of in vitro fermentation compared to the blank control.However,when compared to untreated dietary fiber,processing resulted in a reduction in SCFA production at 24 h.Notably,SDFs consistently promoted significantly greater SCFA production than IDFs.Furthermore,both IDFs and SDFs modulated the gut microbiota composition by promoting beneficial genera such as Phascolarctobacterium,Faecalibacterium,Blautia,Bacteroides,and Butyricicoccus.IDF from extruded black rice bran notably promoted Flavonifractor,while SDF from SE treated black rice bran demonstrated superior enrichment for Faecalibacterium and Blautia.In conclusion,SE and extrusion treatments are effective methods for modifying the fermentation characteristics of black rice bran dietary fiber.This study provides a theoretical foundation for processing and utilizing black rice bran to enhance gut health.展开更多

Digital image stabilization technique plays important roles in video surveillance and object acquisition.Many useful electronic image stabilization algorithms have been studied.A real-time algorithm is proposed based ...Digital image stabilization technique plays important roles in video surveillance and object acquisition.Many useful electronic image stabilization algorithms have been studied.A real-time algorithm is proposed based on field image gray projection which enables the regional odd and even field image to be projected into x and y directions and thus to get the regional gray projection curves in x and y directions,respectively.For the odd field image channel,motion parameters can be estimated via iterative minimum absolute difference based on two successive field image regional gray projection curves.Then motion compensations can be obtained after using the Kalman filter method.Finally,the odd field image is adjusted according to the compensations.In the mean time,motion compensation is applied to the even field image channel with the odd field image gray projection curves of the current frame.By minimizing absolute difference between odd and even field image gray projection curves of the current frame,the inter-field motion parameters can be estimated.Therefore,the even field image can be adjusted by combining the inter-field motion parameters and the odd field compensations.Finally,the stabilized image sequence can be obtained by synthesizing the adjusted odd and even field images.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can run in real-time and have a good stabilization performance.In addition,image blurring can be improved.展开更多

Graded hypoxia is a common microenvironment in malignant solid tumors.As a central regulator in the hypoxic response,hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1)can induce multiple cellular processes including glycolysis,angioge...Graded hypoxia is a common microenvironment in malignant solid tumors.As a central regulator in the hypoxic response,hypoxia-inducible factor-1(HIF-1)can induce multiple cellular processes including glycolysis,angiogenesis,and necroptosis.How cells exploit the HIF-1 pathway to coordinate different processes to survive hypoxia remains unclear.We developed an integrated model of the HIF-1αnetwork to elucidate the mechanism of cellular adaptation to hypoxia.By numerical simulations and bifurcation analysis,we found that HIF-1αis progressively activated with worsening hypoxia due to the sequential deactivation of the hydroxylases prolyl hydroxylase domain enzymes and factor inhibiting HIF(FIH).Bistable switches control the activation and deactivation processes.As a result,glycolysis,immunosuppression,angiogenesis,and necroptosis are orderly elicited in aggravating hypoxia.To avoid the excessive accumulation of lactic acid during glycolysis,HIF-1αinduces monocarboxylate transporter and carbonic anhydrase 9 sequentially to export intracellular hydrogen ions,facilitating tumor cell survival.HIF-1α-induced miR-182 facilitates vascular endothelial growth factor production to promote angiogenesis under moderate hypoxia.The imbalance between accumulation and removal of lactic acid in severe hypoxia may result in acidosis and induce cell necroptosis.In addition,the deactivation of FIH results in the destabilization of HIF-1αin anoxia.Collectively,HIF-1αorchestrates the adaptation of tumor cells to hypoxia by selectively inducing its targets according to the severity of hypoxia.Our work may provide clues for tumor therapy by targeting the HIF-1 pathway.展开更多
Black rice bran is a good source of dietary fiber,which has many health benefits.Physicochemical properties of dietary fiber vary widely depending on their source and processing,which are crucial determinants of their...Black rice bran is a good source of dietary fiber,which has many health benefits.Physicochemical properties of dietary fiber vary widely depending on their source and processing,which are crucial determinants of their functional characteristics and potential therapeutic opportunities.In this study,black rice bran was processed by steam explosion(SE),extrusion,and high-pressure steaming to investigate the effect of different processing methods on the structural,physicochemical,and functional properties of dietary fiber from black rice bran.The results indicated that all three processing treatments could facilitate the conversion of insoluble dietary fiber(IDF)to soluble dietary fiber(SDF),significantly reduce the molecular weight of SDF,and change the monosaccharide composition of SDF,with the lowest molecular weight observed for the SDF of extruded black rice bran.Structural analyses indicated that processing led to dietary fiber samples with a looser and more porous structure.The IDF from processed black rice bran exhibited better water-holding capacity,oil-holding capacity,water swelling capacity,sodium cholate adsorption capacity,cholesterol adsorption capacity,and glucose adsorption capacity,among which IDF from black rice bran treated by extrusion and SE showed better physicochemical and functional properties.In conclusion,SE and extrusion treatment might be effective methods for dietary fiber modification in black rice bran.This study provided a theoretical basis for the deep processing and utilization of black rice bran.展开更多
