Influence of pre-stretching and annealing on microstructure and mechanical properties evolution of twin-roll cast Mg-2Al-1Zn-1Ca(wt.%)plates

Pre-stretching and annealing treatments were conducted on twin roll cast Mg-2Al-1Zn-1Ca(AZX211,in wt.%)plates with a rare earth-like texture.Varying amounts of deformation were applied along the rolling direction(RD)and transverse direction(TD)of AZX211 alloy in order to modify its mechanical proper-ties at room temperature.The results demonstrate that pre-stretching treatment effectively enhances the yield strength(YS),especially along the RD.The strengthening mechanism is attributed to the production of a large number of dislocations and sub-grain boundaries,but the work-hardening ability of the plate will be greatly weakened.Additionally,annealing treatment substantially improves the plasticity and in-plane anisotropy and restores the work-hardening ability.The notable distinction in the pre-stretching process between different directions lies in the underlying deformation mechanism.In case of RD,de-formation is predominantly governed by the slip mechanism of{0002}{11−20}basal slip and{10−10}{11−20}prismatic slip,while along the TD,deformation is primarily controlled by{0002}{11−20}basal slip without significant twinning deformation.When a 6%pre-stretching is conducted,the initial rare earth-like texture of the sample transforms into a symmetrically distributed double-peak basal texture,accompanied by grain refinement.This texture transformation is chiefly due to the dominance of{0002}{11−20}basal slip-driven deformation.Moreover,the annealed sample maintains a strong basal texture,owing to strain-induced recrystallization. 展开更多

Semicrystalline polymers usually undergo multilevel microstructural evolutions with annealing and stretching processes,which is es-sential to tailor the physical properties of the polymer.Here,poly(butylene carbonate)(PBC)sheets were prepared via isothermal annealing and unidirectional pre-stretching processes,then the changes of PBC in crystallinity,mechanical properties,thermal properties and microscopic changes before and after annealing and stretching were measured,as well as the relationship between microstructure and macroscopic proper-ties before and after stretching.The strengthening mechanism of PBC was also described.It was demonstrated that shish-kabab structure emerged under the pre-stretching process.With the increase of the tensile ratio,the crystallinity,structure and mechanical properties are in-creased differently.Among them,the crystallinity and tensile strength after annealing-stretching treatment increased to 24.45%and 104.5 MPa,respectively,which were about 1.55 times and 3.4 times of those-without any treatment. 展开更多

The effects of pre-stretching following solution treatment on the hardness and microstructures of aged 2524 aluminium alloy at 170 ℃ were studied.Ageing hardness values under different pre-stretching conditions were measured,and the corresponding microstructures were characterized by transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results show that compared with unstretched samples,the peak hardness is increased and the time to reach the peak hardness is reduced with the increase of pre-strain;the number density of S(Al2CuMg) phases is increased and the length is shortened in pre-stretched alloy.Additionally,the number density of GPB zones is decreased with the increase of pre-strain in peak-aged samples.When the pre-strain is up to 5%,S phases play the predominant contribution to the peak hardness.Fine and uniformly distributed S phases lead to a higher hardness than GPB zones together with S phases existing in conventionally aged 2524 alloy. 展开更多

The influence of pre-stretching on quench sensitive effect of high strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr alloy AA 7085 sheet was investigated by tensile testing at room temperature,transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC).The water-cooled and aged alloy exhibits higher strength than the air-cooled and aged alloy;2.5%pre-stretching of tensile deformation exerts little effect on strength of water-cooled and aged alloy but increases that of air-cooled and aged one,and therefore the yield strength reduction rate due to slow quenching decreases from about 3.8%to about 1.0%,reducing quench sensitive effect.For the air-cooled alloy,pre-stretching increases the sizes ofη'strengthening precipitates but also increases their quantity and the ratio of diameter to thickness,resulting in enhanced strengthening and higher strength after aging.The reason has been discussed based on microstructure examination by TEM and DSC. 展开更多

The ageing behavior of a pre-stretched thick plate of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy was systemically studied including one-step ageing, two-step ageing, and retrogression and reageing treatment (RRA). One-step ageing of the alloy resulted in peak ultimate tensile strengths of 595 and 575 MPa after 22 and 6 h at 120 and 135°C, respectively. The strengthening phase in peak aged (T6 temper) alloy contained GP zones and the η′ phase predominantly. After two-step ageing, the electrical conductivity was increased markedly, but the pre-stretched thick plate sacrificed a great loss of strength. RRA treatment provided a method for maintaining the strength close to that obtained by T6 temper and for obtaining the high electrical conductivity close to that obtained by T7 temper; the ultimate tensile strength and electrical conductivity were 583 MPa and 21.0 MS/m, respectively. TEM analysis of T7 and RRA specimens revealed two types of precipitates that contributed to age strengthening i.e. the η′ and η phases. 展开更多

The distortion caused by residual stresses in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates during machining integrated parts is a common and serious problem. To predict and control the machining distortion, the residual stress distribution in the thick plate must be measured firstly. The modified removal method for measuring residual stress in thick pre-stretched aluminum plates is proposed and the stress-strain relation matrix is deduced by elasticity theory. The residual stress distribution in specimen of 7050T7451 plate is measured by using the method, and measurement results are analyzed and compared with data obtained by other methods. Soft cable-driven systems have been employed in many assembled mechanisms, such as industrial robots, parallel kinematic mechanism machines, medical devices, and humaniform hands. A pre-stretching process is necessary to guarantee the quality of cable-driven systems during the assembly process. However, the stress relaxation of cables becomes a critical concern during long-term operation. This study investigates the effects of non-uniform deformation and long-term stress relaxation of the driven cables owing to moving parts in the system. A simple closed-loop cable-driven system is built and an alternating load is applied to it to replicate the operation of transmission cables. Under different experimental conditions, the cable tension is recorded and the boundary data are selected to be curve-fitted. Based on the fitted results, a formula is presented to estimate the stress relaxation of cables to evaluate the assembly performance. Further experimental results show that the stress relaxation is mainly caused by cable creep and the assembly procedure. To remove the influence of the assembly procedure, a modified pre-stretching assembly method based on the stress relaxation theory is proposed and verification experiments are performed. Finally, the assembly performance is optimized using a cable-driven surgical robot as an example. This paper proposes a dual stretching method instead of the pre-stretching method to assemble the cable-driven system to improve its performance and prolong its service life. 展开更多

This paper studies wave propagation in a soft electroactive cylinder with an under- lying finite deformation in the presence of an electric biasing field. Based on a recently proposed nonlinear framework for electroelastieity and the associated linear incremental theory, the basic equations governing the axisymmetric wave motion in the cylinder, which is subjected to homo- geneous pre-stretches and pre-existing axial electric displacement, are presented when the elec- troactive material is isotropic and incompressible. Exact wave solution is then derived in terms of (modified) Bessel functions. For a prototype model of nonlinear electroactive material, illus- trative numerical results are given. It is shown that the effect of pre-stretch and electric biasing field could be significant on the wave propagation characteristics. 展开更多

Residual stress is one of the factors affecting the machining deformation of monolithic structure parts in the aviation industry. Thus, the studies on machining deformation rules induced by residual stresses largely depend on correctly and efficiently measuring the residual stresses of workpieccs. A modified layer-removal method is proposed to measure residual stress by analysing the characteristics of a traditional, layer-removal method. The coefficients of strain release are then deduced according to the simulation results using the finite element method (FEM). Moreover, the residual stress in a 7075T651 aluminium alloy plate is measured using the proposed method, and the results are then analyzed and compared with the data obtained by the traditional methods. The analysis indicates that the modified layer-removal method is effective and practical for measuring the residual stress distribution in pre-stretched aluminium alloy plates. 展开更多

在飞机结构件加工过程中,铝合金厚板内的残余应力会使其产生变形,导致飞机结构件无法满足加工精度要求。为此,通过研究淬火-拉伸有限元仿真关键技术,建立了淬火仿真与预拉伸仿真方法。结果表明,淬火应力在分布趋势和幅值大小方面,仿真... 在飞机结构件加工过程中,铝合金厚板内的残余应力会使其产生变形,导致飞机结构件无法满足加工精度要求。为此,通过研究淬火-拉伸有限元仿真关键技术,建立了淬火仿真与预拉伸仿真方法。结果表明,淬火应力在分布趋势和幅值大小方面,仿真值均与实验值都非常吻合,最大相对误差只有10%左右。然后将板材离散为若干层,依据淬火残余应力及拉伸所产生的尺寸变化率,推导出各层屈服极限及弹性模量的变化,分析材料非均匀性对残余应力的影响规律。对50mm厚的淬火铝合金板材进行预拉伸仿真分析时发现,残余应力的仿真结果与实验测量数据呈现相同的分布特征。最后,通过对不同厚度的铝厚板进行淬火-拉伸仿真,揭示不同铝厚板内残余应力的变化规律。 展开更多

基于帽型梁冲击零件加工对材料性能影响分析

汽车零件的冲压过程,对金属薄板材料的力学性能产生较大的影响,这将影响碰撞分析的可靠性,采用预拉伸进行研究。选取车身吸能盒常用材料低合金高强钢340LA进行研究,基于静态拉伸测试,获取0、5、10、15%预应变后,材料力学性能和加工硬化... 汽车零件的冲压过程,对金属薄板材料的力学性能产生较大的影响,这将影响碰撞分析的可靠性,采用预拉伸进行研究。选取车身吸能盒常用材料低合金高强钢340LA进行研究,基于静态拉伸测试,获取0、5、10、15%预应变后,材料力学性能和加工硬化的变化,获取变化规律;根据Hollomon和Swift方程,提取材料加工硬化影响的关键参数,并将此因素拟合加入材料碰撞力学性能的Cowper-Symonds模型;基于帽型梁冲击试验测试,采用实测和仿真分析的方法,对比考虑加工硬化与否的材料模型仿真分析结果与试验结果的误差,验证前述模型的准确性。结果可知:加工硬化对材料强度、延伸率影响较大,碰撞分析时,不能忽略;强塑积则随着预应变率的增大而增大,整体强塑性性能增大;在不同预应变的影响下瞬时加工硬化n值有着明显的变化;未考虑加工硬化时,平均力误差超过了8%;考虑加工硬化的分析结果,各个关键参数的误差小于2.5%,表明此种模型更符合实际情况;考虑加工硬化的载荷比为0.58,与实际结果基本一致,很好的体现了材料在整个承载过程中的波动情况,分析结果更接近于实际情况。分析模型和结果为此类研究提供参考。 展开更多

To investigate the residual stress distribution and its influence on machining deformation in 6061-T651 aluminum alloy plates,this paper uses the crack compliance method to study the residual stress characteristics of 6061-T651 aluminum alloy plates with a thickness of 75 mm produced by two domestic manufacturers in China.The results indicate that both types of plates exhibit highly consistent and symmetrical M-shaped residual stress profile along the thickness direction,manifested as surface layer compression and core tension.The strain energy density across all specimens ranges from 1.27 kJ/m^(3)to 1.43 kJ/m^(3).Machining deformation simulations of an aerospace component incorporating these measured stresses showed minimal final deformation difference between the material sources,with a maximum deviation of only 0.009 mm across specimens.These findings provide critical data for material selection and deformation control in aerospace manufacturing. 展开更多

为研究预变形对相变诱发(transformation induced plasticity,TRIP)钢马氏体转变和微观组织演变的影响规律,探究变形TRIP钢成形性,选用TRIP590钢板为试验材料,采用2种尺寸拉伸试样(标准试样和宽试样)在0~0.12范围下进行预应变拉伸加载,... 为研究预变形对相变诱发(transformation induced plasticity,TRIP)钢马氏体转变和微观组织演变的影响规律,探究变形TRIP钢成形性,选用TRIP590钢板为试验材料,采用2种尺寸拉伸试样(标准试样和宽试样)在0~0.12范围下进行预应变拉伸加载,对预应变试样进行拉伸试验和微观组织观察,并分析预应变对宽试样各向异性和杯突性能的影响。结果表明:预应变使TRIP钢发生了一定的马氏体转变,且较大预应变下产生较多位错,在提升材料强度的同时降低塑性,在0.02预应变下得到最高的强塑积;较大的预应变会影响材料的各向异性,90°取向试样延伸率相对较大;杯突峰值载荷和杯突值均随预应变增加而逐渐下降。适量预应变可提高TRIP钢的综合性能,但过大的预应变会降低其成形能力,这为其组织设计和成形工艺提供了参考。 展开更多

ZL205A铝合金具有良好的力学性能和加工性能,在大型受力结构件以及重要军工产品中有广阔的应用前景。在其产品生产、服役过程中,较大的残余应力会影响产品的服役状态及使用寿命。为探究预拉伸工艺对ZL205A铝合金棒料的淬火残余应力消除效果,通过ABAQUS软件建立有限元模型,分析固溶态ZL205A铝合金棒料在25℃淬火后的温度场及残余应力场分布。在此基础上分析预拉伸工艺中拉伸率对淬火残余应力的影响。结果表明,ZL205A铝合金棒料淬火残余应力呈内拉外压状态;淬火残余应力随拉伸率增大而减小,拉伸率大于2.0%时,淬火残余应力的减小效果不再明显;当拉伸率达到2.0%时,淬火残余应力分布均匀并且消除率范围为62.5%~85.7%。 展开更多
