Transition metals in water treatment:from fundamental mechanisms to practical applications

Transition metals have garnered significant attention for their roles in addressing energy shortages and environmental water pollution.Their multivalent states and unique electron transfer properties facilitate charge transfer in the conversion reaction,expedite energy conversion,and achieve low-energy water treatment.This review comprehensively explores the fundamental mechanisms and practical applications of transition metals in water treatment,including adsorption,photocatalysis,electrocatalysis,photoelectrocatalysis,and other technologies.The feasibility of water treatment using transition metal-based materials is demonstrated through theoretical studies on typical transition metals employed in these water treatment technologies while emphasizing the potential for optimizing material performance through strategies like structural design,defect engineering,crystal engineering,composite materials,surface modification,and atomic catalysts.In addition,the utilization of transition metal-based materials in practical wastewater treatment is comprehensively reviewed.Finally,the challenges and perspectives of transition metal-based materials in practical wastewater treatment are outlined,providing a theoretical foundation and guidance for future research and engineering advancements. 展开更多

It has been over a decade since the first coded aperture video compressive sensing(CS)system was reported.The underlying principle of this technology is to employ a high-frequency modulator in the optical path to modulate a recorded high-speed scene within one integration time.The superimposed image captured in this manner is modulated and compressed,since multiple modulation patterns are imposed.Following this,reconstruction algorithms are utilized to recover the desired high-speed scene.One leading advantage of video CS is that a single captured measurement can be used to reconstruct a multi-frame video,thereby enabling a low-speed camera to capture high-speed scenes.Inspired by this,a number of variants of video CS systems have been built,mainly using different modulation devices.Meanwhile,in order to obtain high-quality reconstruction videos,many algorithms have been developed,from optimization-based iterative algorithms to deep-learning-based ones.Recently,emerging deep learning methods have been dominant due to their high-speed inference and high-quality reconstruction,highlighting the possibility of deploying video CS in practical applications.Toward this end,this paper reviews the progress that has been achieved in video CS during the past decade.We further analyze the efforts that need to be made—in terms of both hardware and algorithms—to enable real applications.Research gaps are put forward and future directions are summarized to help researchers and engineers working on this topic. 展开更多

This paper systematically studies the current practical application status,existing problems and optimization suggestions of 3D printing technology in spacecraft manufacturing.Research shows that this technology has been successfully applied to the manufacturing of key components such as rocket engines and satellite structures,demonstrating advantages like lightweight and rapid prototyping.However,it still faces core challenges such as material performance,process stability,adaptability to space environments,and industrialization costs.In response to these issues,this paper proposes three optimization suggestions:enhancing manufacturing reliability by developing aerospace-specific materials,optimizing process parameters,and establishing a quality traceability system.Surface modification technology and topological optimization design are adopted to enhance the adaptability to the spatial environment,and a space-ground integrated verification method is constructed.Reduce industrialization costs through the localization of materials,modular production,and the construction of a standardized system.Research has confirmed that implementing these measures can reduce the performance dispersion of 3D-printed aerospace components by more than 50%,increase their in-orbit lifespan by three times,and lower production costs by 30-40%.The research results of this paper provide a systematic technical route and industrialization solution for the large-scale application of 3D printing technology in the aerospace field,which has significant reference value for promoting the innovation of aerospace manufacturing models. 展开更多

With the increasing market demand for high-performance lithium-ion batteries with high-capacity electrode materials,reducing the irreversible capacity loss in the initial cycle and compensating for the active lithium loss during the cycling process are critical challenges.In recent years,various prelithiation strategies have been developed to overcome these issues.Since these approaches are carried out under a wide range of conditions,it is essential to evaluate their suitability for large-scale commercial applications.In this review,these strategies are categorized based on different battery assembling stages that they are implemented in,including active material synthesis,the slurry mixing process,electrode pretreatment,and battery fabrication.Furthermore,their advantages and disadvantages in commercial production are discussed from the perspective of thermodynamics and kinetics.This review aims to provide guidance for the future development of prelithiation strategies toward commercialization,which will potentially promote the practical application of next-generation high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. 展开更多

Polymer solid-state lithium batteries(SSLB)are regarded as a promising energy storage technology to meet growing demand due to their high energy density and safety.Ion conductivity,interface stability and battery assembly process are still the main challenges to hurdle the commercialization of SSLB.As the main component of SSLB,poly(1,3-dioxolane)(PDOL)-based solid polymer electrolytes polymerized in-situ are becoming a promising candidate solid elec-trolyte,for their high ion conductivity at room temperature,good battery elec-trochemical performances,and simple assembly process.This review analyzes opportunities and challenges of PDOL electrolytes toward practical application for polymer SSLB.The focuses include exploring the polymerization mechanism of DOL,the performance of PDOL composite electrolytes,and the application of PDOL.Furthermore,we provide a perspective on future research directions that need to be emphasized for commercialization of PDOL-based electrolytes in SSLB.The exploration of these schemes facilitates a comprehensive and profound understanding of PDOL-based polymer electrolyte and provides new research ideas to boost them toward practical application in solid-state batteries. 展开更多

Rechargeable lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,featuring high energy density,low cost,and environmental friendliness,have been dubbed as one of the most promising candidates to replace current commercial rechargeable Li-ion batteries.However,their practical deployment has long been plagued by the infamous“shuttle effect”of soluble Li polysulfides(LiPSs)and the rampant growth of Li dendrites.Therefore,it is important to specifically elucidate the solvation structure in the Li-S system and systematically summarize the feasibility strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect and the growth of Li dendrites for practical applications.This review attempts to achieve this goal.In this review,we first introduce the importance of developing Li-S batteries and highlight the key challenges.Then,we revisit the working principles of Li-S batteries and underscore the fundamental understanding of LiPSs.Next,we summarize some representative characterization techniques and theoretical calculations applied to characterize the solvation structure of LiPSs.Afterward,we overview feasible designing strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect of soluble LiPSs and the growth of Li dendrites.Finally,we conclude and propose personal insights and perspectives on the future development of Li-S batteries.We envisage that this timely review can provide some inspiration to build better Li-S batteries for promoting practical applications. 展开更多

Analysis of Practical Application of Clinical Pathway Teaching Method in Clinical Teaching of Endocrinology Department

Objective: to explore the specific application effect of clinical pathway teaching method in clinical teaching of endocrinology department, improve the clinical teaching mode of endocrinology department, improve the clinical teaching effect, cultivate a large number of high-quality clinical medical talents of endocrinology department, and make contributions to the development of endocrinology nursing industry in China. Methods: from June 2018 to June 2021, a total of 86 interns who practiced in the department of endocrinology in our hospital were taken as observation objects, and 86 interns were divided into two groups with the same number. The interns who received routine clinical teaching methods were divided into the control group, and the interns who received clinical pathway teaching methods were divided into the observation group. During clinical teaching in the department of endocrinology, the theoretical knowledge and professional skills of interns were regularly examined. The clinical level of the two groups of interns was compared, and the satisfaction of the two groups of interns to the teaching teachers was investigated by questionnaire. Then, the clinical teaching mode and method of endocrinology department were innovated and optimized to improve the professional level of clinical interns and the clinical teaching level of medical teachers. Results: by comparing the theoretical knowledge, case handling ability and basic operation of the two groups of interns at different stages, it can be seen that the clinical interns in endocrinology department who received clinical pathway teaching method have more solid theoretical knowledge, and their case handling ability and basic operation skills have been obviously improved, which is higher than that of the control group interns who received routine teaching. From the results of the questionnaire survey, it can be seen that the scores of the interns in the observation group to the teachers in the control group are much higher, and the satisfaction of the teachers in the observation group to the interns in the observation group is higher than that in the control group. The satisfaction score of interns in the observation group was higher than that in the control group. Conclusion: there is a huge talent gap in endocrinology department. In order to improve the medical and nursing quality of endocrinology department, it is necessary to speed up the training of interns. The clinical teaching method can effectively improve the professional level of medical interns in endocrinology department, and the clinical pathway teaching method can promote the balanced improvement of theoretical knowledge and professional skills of interns, strengthen the interns' case handling ability and basic operation skills, and effectively meet the demand of medical talents in endocrinology department of hospitals. It is suggested that clinical pathway teaching method should be used reasonably in future clinical teaching. 展开更多

Proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEMWE)is a favorable technology for producing highpurity hydrogen under high current density using intermittent renewable energy.The performance of PEMWE is largely determined by the oxygen evolution reaction(OER),a sluggish four-electron reaction with a high reaction barrier.Nowadays,iridium(Ir)-based catalysts are the catalysts of choice for OER due to their excellent activity and durability in acidic solution.However,its high price and unsatisfactory electrochemical performance severely restrict the PEMWE’s practical application.In this review,we initiate by introducing the current OER reaction mechanisms,namely adsorbate evolution mechanism and lattice oxygen mechanism,with degradation mechanisms discussed.Optimized strategies in the preparation of advanced Ir-based catalysts are further introduced,with merits and potential problems also discussed.The parameters that determine the performance of PEMWE are then introduced,with unsolved issues and related outlooks summarized in the end. 展开更多

As globalization accelerates,microbial contamination in the built environment poses a major public health challenge.Especially since Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19),microbial sterilization technology has become a crucial research area for indoor air pollution control in order to create a hygienic and safe built environment.Based on this,the study reviews sterilization technologies in the built environment,focusing on the principles,efficiency and applicability,revealing advantages and limitations,and summarizing current research advances.Despite the efficacy of single sterilization technologies in specific environments,the corresponding side effects still exist.Thus,this review highlights the efficiency of hybrid sterilization technologies,providing an in-depth understanding of the practical application in the built environment.Also,it presents an outlook on the future direction of sterilization technology,including the development of new methods that are more efficient,energy-saving,and targeted to better address microbial contamination in the complex and changing built environment.Overall,this study provides a clear guide for selecting technologies to handle microbial contamination in different building environments in the future,as well as a scientific basis for developing more effective air quality control strategies. 展开更多

High-energy-density lithium metal batteries hold great promise for advancing low-altitude economic development.However,the practical application of ultrathin lithium anodes remains challenging due to significant interfacial side reactions,dendrite formation,and substantial volume fluctuations.In this study,lithium metal electrodes were fabricated using a spin-coating process,enabling an in situ reaction between lithium and phenyl disulfide(PDS).The resulting robust organic sulfurization interface,composed of lithium thiophenoxide,facilitates rapid lithium-ion transport and effectively suppresses dendrite formation.Symmetric cells with a 50μm Li@PDS anode exhibited an impressive lifespan exceeding3000 h at 1 mA cm^(-2)and 1 mAh cm^(-2).The Li@PDS anode demonstrated excellent structural stability in a practical LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811)lILi@PDS pouch cell,maintaining 94.8%of its initial capacity(1.45 Ah)over 260 cycles at a 0.4C rate and 87.30%of its initial capacity(1.1 Ah)over 360 cycles at a 2C rate(1C=200 mA g^(-1)).This work provides a promising pathway for developing durable lithium metal anodes suitable for scalable practical applications. 展开更多
