Flexible resource allocation for power systems to maximize diversified values in resilience,carbon reduction and renewable energy consumption

The energy transition inspired by carbon neutrality targets and the increasing threat of extreme events raise multi-objective development requirements for power systems.This paper proposes a multi-objective resource allocation model to determine the type,number and location of flexible resources to increase the values of resilience,carbon reduction and renewable energy consumption.To evaluate the values of resilience,a restoration model for transmission systems is established that considers the coordination of fossil-fuel generators,energy storage systems(ESSs)and renewable energy generators in building restoration paths.The collaborative power-carbon-tradable green certificate(TGC)market model is then applied to evaluate the resource values in terms of carbon reduction and renewable energy consumption.Finally,the model is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming(MILP)with a nonconvex feasible domain,and the normalized normal constraint(NNC)method is applied to obtain approximate Pareto frontiers for decision makers.Case studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in improving multi-factor values and analyze the impact of resource regulation capacity on values of restoration and carbon reduction. 展开更多

An information system for ocean wave resources and its application to wave power utilization are introduced. It can manage, analyze and process the data in the monthly report of ocean wave observation records of the State Ocean Administration, and can provide various kinds of curves and numerical characters of statistics. This system has been put into utility in Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1996. An application example is given of the investigation and analysis on ocean wave resource of the Nan Ao Island, Guangdong Province, where a 100 kW onshore OWC (oscillating water column) wave power station will be built. The wave power distribution is obtained in different wave directions for different wave periods. It is found that 70 percent of the wave power comes from the direction of ENE, and more than 95 percent of the wave power is related with direction E. The average wave power density is about 3 kW/m, and more than 80 percent of the wave power is distributed in the wave periods of 4 second to 5 second. Based on the analysis of wave resources, a site on the east coast of the island and a design width of 20 m for the 100 kW station are suggested. 展开更多

The intelligent operation management of distribution services is crucial for the stability of power systems.Integrating the large language model(LLM)with 6G edge intelligence provides customized management solutions.However,the adverse effects of false data injection(FDI)attacks on the performance of LLMs cannot be overlooked.Therefore,we propose an FDI attack detection and LLM-assisted resource allocation algorithm for 6G edge intelligenceempowered distribution power grids.First,we formulate a resource allocation optimization problem.The objective is to minimize the weighted sum of the global loss function and total LLM fine-tuning delay under constraints of long-term privacy entropy and energy consumption.Then,we decouple it based on virtual queues.We utilize an LLM-assisted deep Q network(DQN)to learn the resource allocation strategy and design an FDI attack detection mechanism to ensure that fine-tuning remains on the correct path.Simulations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has excellent performance in convergence,delay,and security. 展开更多

Valuable mineral resources are widely distributed throughout the seabed. autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are preferable to remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs) when probing for such mineral resources as the extensive exploration area makes it difficult to maintain contact with operators. AUVs depend on batteries, so their power consumption should be reduced to extend exploration time. Power for conventional marine instrument systems is incorporated in their waterproof sealing. External intermittent control of this power source until termination of exploration is challenging due to limitations imposed by the underwater environment. Thus, the AUV must have a power control system that can improve performance and maximize use of battery capacity. The authors developed such a power control system with a three-step algorithm. It automatically detects underwater operational states and can limit power, effectively decreasing power consumption by about 15%. 展开更多

Aiming at the problems of increasing uncertainty of low-carbon generation energy in active distribution network(ADN)and the difficulty of security assessment of distribution network,this paper proposes a two-phase scheduling model for flexible resources in ADN based on probabilistic risk perception.First,a full-cycle probabilistic trend sequence is constructed based on the source-load historical data,and in the day-ahead scheduling phase,the response interval of the flexibility resources on the load and storage side is optimized based on the probabilistic trend,with the probability of the security boundary as the security constraint,and with the economy as the objective.Then in the intraday phase,the core security and economic operation boundary of theADNis screened in real time.Fromthere,it quantitatively senses the degree of threat to the core security and economic operation boundary under the current source-load prediction information,and identifies the strictly secure and low/high-risk time periods.Flexibility resources within the response interval are dynamically adjusted in real-time by focusing on high-risk periods to cope with future core risks of the distribution grid.Finally,the improved IEEE 33-node distribution system is simulated to obtain the flexibility resource scheduling scheme on the load and storage side.Thescheduling results are evaluated from the perspectives of risk probability and flexible resource utilization efficiency,and the analysis shows that the scheduling model in this paper can promote the consumption of low-carbon energy from wind and photovoltaic sourceswhile reducing the operational risk of the distribution network. 展开更多

In this paper,we propose a joint power and frequency allocation algorithm considering interference protection in the integrated satellite and terrestrial network(ISTN).We efficiently utilize spectrum resources by allowing user equipment(UE)of terrestrial networks to share frequencies with satellite networks.In order to protect the satellite terminal(ST),the base station(BS)needs to control the transmit power and frequency resources of the UE.The optimization problem involves maximizing the achievable throughput while satisfying the interference protection constraints of the ST and the quality of service(QoS)of the UE.However,this problem is highly nonconvex,and we decompose it into power allocation and frequency resource scheduling subproblems.In the power allocation subproblem,we propose a power allocation algorithm based on interference probability(PAIP)to address channel uncertainty.We obtain the suboptimal power allocation solution through iterative optimization.In the frequency resource scheduling subproblem,we develop a heuristic algorithm to handle the non-convexity of the problem.The simulation results show that the combination of power allocation and frequency resource scheduling algorithms can improve spectrum utilization. 展开更多

The paradigm shift from a coal-based power system to a renewable-energy-based power system brings more challenges to the supply-demand balance of the grid.Distributed energy resources(DERs),which can provide operating reserve to the grid,are regarded as a promising solution to compensate for the power fluctuation of the renewable energy resources.Small-scale DERs can be aggregated as a virtual power plant(VPP),which is eligible to bid in the operating reserve market.Since the DERs usually belong to different entities,it is important to investigate the VPP operation framework that coordinates the DERs in a trusted man-ner.In this paper,we propose a blockchain-assisted operating reserve framework for VPPs that aggregates various DERs.Considering the heterogeneity of various DERs,we propose a unified reserve capacity evaluation method to facilitate the aggregation of DERs.By considering the mismatch between actual available reserve capacity and the estimated value,the performance of VPP in the operating reserve market is improved.A hardware-based experimental system is developed,and numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. 展开更多

Power conditioner, that is responsible for electric power conversion, is a critical component used in many renewable energy power generation systems. Most of the electric power produced by distributed energy resources cannot directly import to utility network without power conversion. Meanwhile, power conversion may includes several different types, for example AC/DC, and DC/AC, which is realized by a variety types of power conditioners in the electric power system. Currently, many concerns are focused on the operation of these power conditioners used in distributed energy resources due to the worse designing may cause the terrible influence on safety and performance characteristic of distributed energy resources. The power quality and reliability of interconnected electric power network may be affected as well. In the view of this, IEEE standards board provides a uniform standard for interconnection of distributed resources with electric power systems. It provides requirements relevant to the performance, operation, testing, safety considerations, and maintenance of the interconnection. Based on the IEEE 1547 standard, this paper presents a test system for power conditioners that are used in distributed energy resources or other renewable energy applications. Some of the test items that described in IEEE 1547.1 relevant to interconnection issues can be realized by proposed test system. 展开更多

Through analysis on loads characteristic of industry, public facility and resident, this paper gets comprehensive response of load side resources. [Objective] The aim was to analyze characters of solar energy in photo- voltaic power stations in Shandong Province. [Method] The models of total solar radiation and scattered radiation were determined, and solar energy resources in pho-tovoltaic power stations were evaluated based on illumination in horizontal plane and cloud data in 123 counties or cities and observed information in Jinan, Fushan and Juxian in 1988-2008. [Result] Solar energy in northern regions in Shandong proved most abundant, which is suitable for photovoltaic power generation; the optimal angle of tilt of photovoltaic array was at 35°, decreasing by 2°-3° compared with local latitude. Total solar radiation received by the slope with optimal angle of tilt exceeded 1 600 kw.h/(m2.a), increasing by 16% compared with horizontal planes. The maximal irradiance concluded by WRF in different regions tended to be volatile in 1 020-1 060 W/m2. [Conclusion] The research provides references for construction of photovoltaic power stations in Shandong Province. 展开更多
