Aiming at the problems of complex process and high cost in the production of potassium bromide at present,the solubility data and the phase diagram of the quaternary system KBr-MgBr_(2)-K_(2)SO_(4)-MgSO_(4)-H_(2)O at ...Aiming at the problems of complex process and high cost in the production of potassium bromide at present,the solubility data and the phase diagram of the quaternary system KBr-MgBr_(2)-K_(2)SO_(4)-MgSO_(4)-H_(2)O at 298.15 K were studied using the isothermal dissolution equilibrium method.The results showed that there are eight invariant points,sixteen univariant curves,and nine crystallization regions in the phase diagram which is complex and contains two double salts(K_(2)SO_(4)·MgSO_(4)·6H_(2)O and KBr·MgBr_(2)·6H_(2)O)and a metastable phase(MgSO_(4)·5H_(2)O).On the basis of the Pitzer model and HW model,the solubilities of the quaternary system were calculated,with which the corresponding phase diagram was plotted.By comparison,the evaluated phase diagram is in accordance with the measured one.Through analysis,the phase diagrams of the quaternary system at(298.15 and 323.15)K were combined to put forward a process to separate KBr from the system by evaporation and crystallization,which realized the full circulation of the mother solution.展开更多
The hepatotoxic effect of potassium bromide(KBr)on rat liver tissues were determined,as well as the potential protective effect of Tegillaraca granosa(T.granosa)flesh body extract.Twenty adult male albino rats were eq...The hepatotoxic effect of potassium bromide(KBr)on rat liver tissues were determined,as well as the potential protective effect of Tegillaraca granosa(T.granosa)flesh body extract.Twenty adult male albino rats were equally distributed into four groups;Group(I)treated with physiological saline(control group),Group(II)was orally gavaged by 200 mg/kg of T.granosa body extract day after day,Group(III)was intoxicated by KBr(150 mg/kg bwt day after day orally)and finally,Group(IV)was given a combination of T.granosa flesh body extract plus KBr with similar doses in the second and third groups.At the end of one month,blood,liver tissue and bone marrow samples were collected to be used for the required laboratory examinations.In response to KBr toxicity,there was a significant increase in serum antioxidant biomarkers,which was accompanied by a significant change in hepatocyte ultrastructure and a significant change in carbohydrate and protein levels within the liver organ.In addition,KBr intoxication resulted in a substantial increase in the incidence of chromosomal aberrations such as holes,splits,deletions,fragments,ploidy,and ring chromosomes,as well as significant upregulation of TGF-1,VEGF,and COX-2 gene expression.The hepatotoxic effect of KBr was counteracted by treatment with T.granosa flesh body extract.T.granosa flesh body extract has a curative antioxidant and numerous protective effects against KBr hepatotoxicity.展开更多

Ammonium persulphate oxidizes I(Br to the corresponding tribromide which is entrapped by polyethylene glycol leading to stable PEG KBr3. The reagent is proved to be highly efficient for the acylation of variety of alcohols and bromination of activated aromatic substrates. The method is a mild, one pot reaction and involves no use of toxic reagents.展开更多

Several factors including the kind, concentration, and volume of acid, the dosa...A new method for the determination of aniline in environmental water based on oscillopolarographic titration was presented in this paper. Several factors including the kind, concentration, and volume of acid, the dosage of potassium bromide, the temperature and concentration of concomitant substances were investigated in detail. The experimental results indicated that this method was simple, rapid, and sensitive. The linear range was 8.367 × 10(?4) to 2.789 × 10(?2) mol L(?1), the relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) was lower than 0.96%, and the spiked recoveries of aniline in environmental water samples were in the range of 99.4–106.9% under the optimal conditions. The results indicated that the present method could be used as an alternative method for aniline determination in realworld water samples.展开更多
