Numerous arthropods evolve and optimize sensory systems, enabling them to effectively adapt complex and competitive habitats. Typically, scorpions can precisely perceive the prey location with the lowest metabolic rate among invertebrates. This biological phenomenon contrasts sharply with engineered systems, which generally associates high accuracy with substantial energy consumption. Inspired by the Scorpion Compound Slit Sensilla (SCSS) with a stress field modulation strategy, a bionic positioning sensor with superior precision and minimal power consumption is developed for the first time, which utilizes the particular Minimum Positioning Units (MPUs) to efficiently locate vibration signals. The single MPU of the SCSS can recognize the direction of collinear loads by regulating the stress field distribution and further, the coupling action of three MPUs can realize all-angle vibration monitoring in plane. Experiments demonstrate that the bionic positioning sensor achieves 1.43 degrees of angle-error-free accuracy without additional energy supply. As a proof of concept, two bionic positioning sensors and machine learning algorithm are integrated to provide centimeter (cm)-accuracy target localization, ideally suited for the man-machine interaction. The novel design offers a new mechanism for the design of traditional positioning devices, improving precision and efficiency in both the meta-universe and real-world Internet-connected systems. 展开更多

United block sequence mapping-based visible light positioning for dense small cell deployment

However, intercell interference causcd by light intensity superposition linfits the application of VLP. In this Letter, we propose a united block sequence mapping (UBSM)-based VLP that utilizes superposition to integrate the multidimensional information from dense small cells into 2D information. The experimental result shows that UBSM-based VLP can achieve an accuracy of 1.5 cm with a 0.4 m row spacing and 0.35 m column spacing of LED lights. 展开更多

The negative secondary ion mass spectrometry,in combination with the stereoselective derivatizations with substituted boronic acid RB(OH)_2,was used in the analysis of fourteen oligosac- charides.The mass spectra of the derivatives provide information on their linkage Positions and iso- merism of the individual monoscaccharide units.The results indicated that among the derivatives of the oligosaccharides analyzed,those with 1—4 and 1—6 linkages all presented the ion peaks at m/z 287,sometimes one more peak at m/z 449.Furthermore,a relationship was found between the linkage positions and the intensity orders of the derivative ions.Finally,the derivatives of the disaccharides with a galactose presented an intense ion peak at m/z 347,and those of oligosaccharides with 1—6 linkage to a galactose at terminal presented the ion at m/z 317.In the case of oligosaccharides with a fructose residue,characteristic ion of m/z 155 was produced.The conditions of stereoselective derivatizations and mass spectrometry were studied,in order to obtain a better reproducibility of the mass spectra. 展开更多

De novo acute hypoxemic respiratory failure(AHRF)remains one of the leading causes of intensive care unit(ICU)admission and is still associated with high rates of intubation and mortality.Developing effective strategies to prevent intubation and its associated complications remains a critical objective in this population.Noninvasive ventilation(NIV)has been proposed as a potential alternative to invasive ventilation in AHRF.However,no clear clinical benefit has been consistently demonstrated to date.The lack of definitive evidence has left experts unable to provide recommendations for the use of NIV in AHRF.Several factors may account for the inconsistencies in the literature and merit further investigation.Identifying early predictive criteria for NIV failure could be essential in determining which patients are most likely to benefit from this intervention.In addition,the approach to NIV settings may require reconsideration,particularly regarding the level of assistance.Efforts to reduce tidal volume,while aiming to minimize ventilator-induced lung injury,may have inadvertently resulted in insufficient support,amplifying the harmful effects of excessive inspiratory effort.The choice of interface may also significantly influence the physiological effects and outcomes and warrants further exploration.Finally,the frugal nature of noninvasive techniques makes them well-suited for the universal management of AHRF,regardless of constraints.This highlights the need for future developments aimed at optimizing oxygen and energy efficiency,enhancing the ease of use and robustness of NIV devices,and evaluating the effectiveness of NIV under high-constraint conditions,such as in low-and middle-income countries.This review addresses these critical questions. 展开更多
