Physical-layer security in MU-MISO downlink networks against potential eavesdroppers

Recently,wireless security has been highlighted as one of the most important techniques for 6G mobile communication systems.Many researchers have tried to improve the Physical-Layer Security(PLS)performance such as Secrecy Outage Probability(SOP)and Secrecy Energy-Efficiency(SEE).The SOP indicates the outage probability that the data transmission between legitimate devices does not guarantee a certain reliability level,and the SEE is defined as the ratio between the achievable secrecy-rate and the consumed transmit power.In this paper,we consider a Multi-User Multi-Input Single-Output(MU-MISO)downlink cellular network where a legitimate Base Station(BS)equipped with multiple transmit antennas sends secure information to multiple legitimate Mobile Stations(MSs),and multiple potential eavesdroppers(EVEs)equipped with a single receive antenna try to eavesdrop on this information.Each potential EVE tries to intercept the secure information,i.e.,the private message,from the legitimate BS to legitimate MSs with a certain eavesdropping probability.To securely receive the private information,each legitimate MS feeds back its effective channel gain to the legitimate BS only when the effective channel gain is higher than a certain threshold,i.e.,the legitimate MSs adopt an Opportunistic Feedback(OF)strategy.In such eavesdropping channels,both SOP and SEE are analyzed as performance measures of PLS and their closed-form expressions are derived mathematically.Based on the analytical results,it is shown that the SOP of the OF strategy approaches that of a Full Feedback(FF)strategy as the number of legitimate MSs or the number of antennas at the BS increases.Furthermore,the trade-off between SOP and SEE as a function of the channel feedback threshold in the OF strategy is investigated.The analytical results and related observations are verified by numerical simulations. 展开更多

In order to improve the performance of the security-reliability tradeoff (SRT), a joint jammer and user scheduling (JJUS) scheme is proposed. First, a user with the maximal instantaneous channel capacity is selected to transmit its signal to the base station ( BS) in the transmission time slot. Then, when the user transmits its signal to BS, the jammer is invoked for transmitting artificial noise in order to perturb the eavesdropper’s reception. Simulation results show that increasing the number of users can enhance the SRT performance of the proposed JJUS scheme. In addition, the SRT performance of the proposed JJUS scheme is better than that of the traditional round-robin scheduling and pure user scheduling schemes. The proposed JJUS scheme can guarantee the secure transmission even in low main-to-eavesdropper ratio( MER) regions. 展开更多

In order to enhance the physical-layer security of wireless transmission in a wireless heterogeneous network (HetNet), a two-stage-based cooperative framework is advocated. To be specific, a source-destination (SD) pair is opportunistically chosen at the beginning of the transmission slot, which can be used to assist the transmissions of other SD pairs. Under this framework, a transmit antenna selection assisted opportunistic SD pair scheduling (TAS-OSDS) scheme is proposed, and the intercept probability (IP) of the proposed TAS-OSDS, the conventional round-robin source-destination pair scheduling (RSDS) and the conventional non-cooperation (non-coop) schemes is also analyzed, where the RSDS and non-coop schemes are used for comparison with the proposed TAS-OSDS. Numerical results show that increasing the number of the SD pairs can effectively reduce the IP of the TAS-OSDS scheme, whereas the IP of the RSDS and the non-coop remain unchanged with an increasing number of the SD pairs. Furthermore, the TAS-OSDS scheme achieves a lower IP than that of the RSDS and the non-coop schemes, showing the superiority of the proposed TAS-OSDS. 展开更多

This study proposes a tractable approach to analyze the physical-layer security in the downlink of a multi-tier heterogeneous cellular network. This method is based on stochastic geometry, has low computational complexity, and uses the two-dimensional Poisson point process to model the locations of K-tier base stations and receivers, including those of legitimate users and eavesdroppers. Then, the achievable secrecy rates for an arbitrary user are determined and the upper and lower bounds of secrecy coverage probability derived on the condition that cross-tier interference is the main contributor to aggregate interference. Finally, our analysis results reveal the innate connections between information-theoretic security and the spatial densities of legitimate and malicious nodes. 展开更多

In this paper, a resource allocation scheme based on physical layer security under non-ideal condition for OFDMA system is introduced. Firstly, the program uses the information security constructing an OFDMA system Wiretap Channel Model under non-ideal condition. Based on this model, arti?cial noise is generated for secure communications combatting passive multiple eavesdroppers. In order to maximize the average secrecy outage capacity without channel state information of eavesdroppers, we use dual decomposition method to implement subcarriers and power allocation in joint optimization. Simulation results show that the average secrecy outage capacity can achieve 7.81 bit/s/Hz while secrecy outage probability is 0.05 with 50 dB mtransmitpower and 64 sub-carrier for 8 authorized users. 展开更多

Purpose-Amidst an increasingly severe cybersecurity landscape,the widespread adoption of Xinchuang endpoints has become a strategic imperative.Governments and enterprises have established terminal localization as a critical objective,aiming for comprehensive indigenous replacement through rapid technological iteration.Consequently,Xinchuang systems and Windows platforms are expected to coexist over an extended period.This study seeks to establish an automated verification framework for multi-version operating systems and validate the efficacy of baseline hardening in mitigating security risks.Design/methodology/approach-Based on the Classified Protection 2.0 framework and relevant national standards for endpoint security,this study proposes an endpoint security baseline verification scheme applicable to multiple operating systems.The scheme addresses divergent security policies and implementation methodologies across heterogeneous environments.It automates the inspection of core baselines,including account password complexity,default shared service status and patch installation status.Furthermore,a comprehensive scoring model is established by incorporating differentiated weights for account security,patch management and log auditing,ultimately generating visualized risk reports to facilitate remediation prioritization.Findings-This study reveals that baseline configuration serves as the fundamental prerequisite in endpoint security practices.Through a scalable detection engine and quantitative scoring model,the system can promptly identify and remediate potential risks,thereby reducing the attack surface and mitigating intrusion risks.However,on certain domestic chip architectures,compatibility issues persist in detecting specific configuration items.Further improvement in hardware-software co-adaptation for domestic platforms is required to advance the development of localized security protection systems.Originality/value-Through in-depth research on security baseline configurations across multiple operating systems,this study implements an automated and visualized baseline verification methodology.This approach significantly strengthens the security posture of domestic operating systems and supports the establishment of a more robust,national-level cybersecurity defense framework. 展开更多

Pathways to improved food and nutrition security:The role of farm production diversity in household dietary outcomes in rural areas of Pakistan

Malnutrition remains a significant global challenge,particularly in developing countries.Policymakers have increasingly focused on improving household food security and nutrition through farm production diversity(FPD).While research indicates that FPD correlates positively with reduced malnutrition,other studies emphasize the importance of market access for improved nutritional outcomes.However,this evidence varies by region and remains inconsistent.To address this knowledge gap,this study analyzed survey data from 450 smallholder farmers in Punjab,Pakistan,using regression models to examine the relationship between FPD and dietary diversity,as well as the underlying impact pathways.The findings demonstrate that FPD significantly correlates with increased household dietary diversity score(HDDS).FPD influences dietary diversification through both own-farm production and market food consumption pathways,with the ownfarm production pathway showing greater impact.The increase in food expenditure through own-farm production yielded a marginal return of 8% in household dietary diversity compared to 5.3% through marketing.Gender differences emerged as significant,with male-headed households showing relatively lower dietary diversity.These findings have substantial implications for countries with smallholder farming systems,providing valuable insights for the formation of agricultural policies,resource optimization,and rural development initiatives. 展开更多

The advent of quantum computing poses a significant challenge to traditional cryptographic protocols,particularly those used in SecureMultiparty Computation(MPC),a fundamental cryptographic primitive for privacypreserving computation.Classical MPC relies on cryptographic techniques such as homomorphic encryption,secret sharing,and oblivious transfer,which may become vulnerable in the post-quantum era due to the computational power of quantum adversaries.This study presents a review of 140 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025 that used different databases like MDPI,IEEE Explore,Springer,and Elsevier,examining the applications,types,and security issues with the solution of Quantum computing in different fields.This review explores the impact of quantum computing on MPC security,assesses emerging quantum-resistant MPC protocols,and examines hybrid classicalquantum approaches aimed at mitigating quantum threats.We analyze the role of Quantum Key Distribution(QKD),post-quantum cryptography(PQC),and quantum homomorphic encryption in securing multiparty computations.Additionally,we discuss the challenges of scalability,computational efficiency,and practical deployment of quantumsecure MPC frameworks in real-world applications such as privacy-preserving AI,secure blockchain transactions,and confidential data analysis.This review provides insights into the future research directions and open challenges in ensuring secure,scalable,and quantum-resistant multiparty computation. 展开更多

This paper presents an intelligent patrol and security robot integrating 2D LiDAR and RGB-D vision sensors to achieve semantic simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM),real-time object recognition,and dynamic obstacle avoidance.The system employs the YOLOv7 deep-learning framework for semantic detection and SLAM for localization and mapping,fusing geometric and visual data to build a high-fidelity 2D semantic map.This map enables the robot to identify and project object information for improved situational awareness.Experimental results show that object recognition reached 95.4%mAP@0.5.Semantic completeness increased from 68.7%(single view)to 94.1%(multi-view)with an average position error of 3.1 cm.During navigation,the robot achieved 98.0%reliability,avoided moving obstacles in 90.0%of encounters,and replanned paths in 0.42 s on average.The integration of LiDAR-based SLAMwith deep-learning–driven semantic perception establishes a robust foundation for intelligent,adaptive,and safe robotic navigation in dynamic environments. 展开更多

International food trade increased the food security gap between high and low economic development groups

International trade serves as a crucial pathway for enhancing global food security and equality amid severe food crises worldwide.Under globalization,economic development has profoundly influenced food trade,while disparities in food purchasing power among different economic development groups have led to uneven food security outcomes.However,the varying contributions of international trade to food security across these groups remain to be quantitatively elucidated.This study categorized countries into four economic development groups—high,high-medium,medium-low,and low—and examined changes in their food security scores from 2010 to 2019.The cross-group contributions of international trade to food security across these groups were compared.The results revealed that the food security score of the high economic development group was 9.22 times higher than that of the low economic development group.From 2010 to 2019,the high economic development group exhibited a significant upward trend in food security scores,whereas the low economic development group showed a significant decline.Moreover,international trade contributed significantly to both cross-group and within-group food security in the high economic development group,while its contribution to the low economic development group remained negligible.These findings demonstrated that international trade has further widened the food security gap between the high and low economic development groups,and its limited contribution to the low economic development group has failed to reverse the declining trend in their food security scores.This study quantified the divergent impacts of international trade on food security across economic development groups,providing valuable insights for optimizing global food trade policies—particularly in addressing the food security challenges faced by low econominc development group. 展开更多

Intrusion Detection and Security Attacks Mitigation in Smart Cities with Integration of Human-Computer Interaction

The rapid digitalization of urban infrastructure has made smart cities increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated cyber threats.In the evolving landscape of cybersecurity,the efficacy of Intrusion Detection Systems(IDS)is increasingly measured by technical performance,operational usability,and adaptability.This study introduces and rigorously evaluates a Human-Computer Interaction(HCI)-Integrated IDS with the utilization of Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),CNN-Long Short Term Memory(LSTM),and Random Forest(RF)against both a Baseline Machine Learning(ML)and a Traditional IDS model,through an extensive experimental framework encompassing many performance metrics,including detection latency,accuracy,alert prioritization,classification errors,system throughput,usability,ROC-AUC,precision-recall,confusion matrix analysis,and statistical accuracy measures.Our findings consistently demonstrate the superiority of the HCI-Integrated approach utilizing three major datasets(CICIDS 2017,KDD Cup 1999,and UNSW-NB15).Experimental results indicate that the HCI-Integrated model outperforms its counterparts,achieving an AUC-ROC of 0.99,a precision of 0.93,and a recall of 0.96,while maintaining the lowest false positive rate(0.03)and the fastest detection time(~1.5 s).These findings validate the efficacy of incorporating HCI to enhance anomaly detection capabilities,improve responsiveness,and reduce alert fatigue in critical smart city applications.It achieves markedly lower detection times,higher accuracy across all threat categories,reduced false positive and false negative rates,and enhanced system throughput under concurrent load conditions.The HCIIntegrated IDS excels in alert contextualization and prioritization,offering more actionable insights while minimizing analyst fatigue.Usability feedback underscores increased analyst confidence and operational clarity,reinforcing the importance of user-centered design.These results collectively position the HCI-Integrated IDS as a highly effective,scalable,and human-aligned solution for modern threat detection environments. 展开更多

Fog computing has emerged as an important technology which can improve the performance of computation-intensive and latency-critical communication networks.Nevertheless,the fog computing Internet-of-Things(IoT)systems are susceptible to malicious eavesdropping attacks during the information transmission,and this issue has not been adequately addressed.In this paper,we propose a physical-layer secure fog computing IoT system model,which is able to improve the physical layer security of fog computing IoT networks against the malicious eavesdropping of multiple eavesdroppers.The secrecy rate of the proposed model is analyzed,and the quantum galaxy–based search algorithm(QGSA)is proposed to solve the hybrid task scheduling and resource management problem of the network.The computational complexity and convergence of the proposed algorithm are analyzed.Simulation results validate the efficiency of the proposed model and reveal the influence of various environmental parameters on fog computing IoT networks.Moreover,the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid task scheduling and resource management scheme can effectively enhance secrecy performance across different communication scenarios. 展开更多

In this paper,we aim to design a practical low complexity low-density parity-check(LDPC)coded scheme to build a secure open channel and protect information from eavesdropping.To this end,we first propose a punctured LDPC coded scheme,where the information bits in a codeword are punctured and only the parity check bits are transmitted to the receiver.We further propose a notion of check node type distribution and derive multi-edge type extrinsic information transfer functions to estimate the security performance,instead of the well-known weak metric bit error rate.We optimize the check node type distribution in terms of the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)gap and modify the progressive edge growth algorithm to design finite-length codes.Numerical results show that our proposed scheme can achieve a lower computational complexity and a smaller security gap,compared to the existing scrambling and puncturing schemes. 展开更多

We investigate the problem of resource allocation in a downlink orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) broadband network with an eavesdropper under the condition that both legitimate users and the eavesdropper are with imperfect channel state information (CSI). We consider three kinds of imperfect CSI: (1) noise and channel estimation errors, (2) feedback delay and channel prediction, and (3) limited feedback channel capacity, where quantized CSI is studied using rate-distortion theory because it can be used to establish an information-theoretic lower bound on the capacity of the feedback channel. The problem is formulated as joint power and subcarrier allocation to optimize the maximum-minimum (max-min) fairness criterion over the users' secrecy rate. The problem considered is a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem. To reduce the complexity, we propose a two-step suboptimal algorithm that separately performs power and subcarrier allocation. For a given subcarrier assignment, optimal power allocation is achieved by developing an algorithm of polynomial computational complexity. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm can approximate the optimal solution. 展开更多

The explosive growth in data trac presents new challenges to the new generation of wireless communication systems,such as computing capabilities,spectrum eciency and security.In this paper,we use the network structure,which is adaptable for the big data trac,to improve the security of wireless networks.Speci cally,a big-data aided hybrid relay selection scheme is designed and analyzed to enhance physical layer security.First,considering the ideal situation that an eavesdropper's CSI(Channel State Information)is known to the legal nodes,we propose an optimal hybrid relay selection scheme consisting of the optimal mode selection scheme and the optimal relay selection scheme.In this case,we analyze the upper bound of an eavesdropper's capacity in FD(Full-Duplex)mode and the secrecy outage probabilities of the optimal HD(Half-Duplex),FD,and hybrid relay selection schemes.Through the analysis of data,it is clear that the mode selection is decided by the self-interference of the FD technique.However,the instantaneous CSI of an eavesdropper is dicult to obtain due to the passive characteristic of eavesdroppers in practice.Therefore,a more practical hybrid relay selection scheme with only the channel distribution information of an eavesdropper is further studied,where a weighting factor is employed to guarantee that the hybrid mode is no worse than either the FD mode or HD mode when the self-interference grows.Finally,the simulation results show the improved security of our proposed scheme. 展开更多

Mobile edge computing can provide powerful computation services around the end-users.However,given the broadcast nature of wireless transmissions,offloading the computation tasks via the uplink channels would raise serious security concerns.This paper proposes an online approach to jointly optimize local processing,transmit power,and task offloading decisions without the a-priori knowledge of the dynamic environments.The proposed approach can guarantee the secure offloading and asymptotically minimize the time-average energy consumption of devices while maintaining the stability of the ergodic secrecy queues and task queues.By exploiting the Lyapunov optimization,the local processing,transmit power,and task offloading variables can be decoupled between time slots.The subproblems on local processing and computation offloading can be solved separately.Convex optimization and graph matching can be used to solve the computation offloading subproblem.Simulations show that the performances of the proposed approach are superior to other popular approaches. 展开更多
