In this work, we successfully fabricated three-dimensional (3D) porous β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)/calcium silicate (CS) composite scaffolds with different ratios by 3D printing technique and further investigated the physiochemical properties, in vitro apatite mineralization properties and degradability of porous β-TCP/CS scaffolds. Moreover, a series of in vitro cell experiments including the attachment, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of mouse bone marrow stromal cells were conducted to testify their biological performances. The results showed that 3D printed β-TCP/CS scaffolds possessed of controllable internal porous structures and external shape. Furthermore, the introduction of CS decreased the shrinkage of scaffolds and improved the in vitro apatite formation activity and degradation rate. Meanwhile, compared with pure β- TCP scaffold, the β-TCP/CS composite scaffolds were more conducive to promote cell adhesion, spread and osteogenesis differentiation. However, when the content of CS was increased to 45%, the ions dissolution rate of the composite scaffolds was so high that leaded to the increase in pH value, which inhibited the proliferation of cells. Our results suggested that the introduction of appropriate CS into β-TCP bioceramic is an effective strategy to prepare bioactive 3D printed bioceramic scaffolds for hard tissue regeneration.展开更多

The chemical compositions, morphologies and corrosion resistance of coatings were investigated through energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) together with hydrogen volumetric and electrochemical tests. The results indicate that both coatings predominately contain crystalline hopeite (Zn3(PO4)2·4H2O), Mg3(PO4)2 and Ca3(PO4)2, and traces of non-crystalline MgF2 and CaF2. The Zn-Ca-Ce-P coating is more compact than the Zn-Ca-P coating due to the formation of CePO4, and displays better corrosion resistance than the Zn-Ca-P coating. Both coatings protect the AZ31 Mg substrate only during an initial immersion period. The micro-galvanic corrosion between the coatings and their substrates leads to an increase of hydrogen evolution rate (HER) with extending the immersion time. The addition of Ce promotes the homogenous distribution of Ca and formation of hopeite. The Zn-Ca-Ce-P coating has the potential for the primer coating on magnesium alloys.展开更多

[Method] Adsorption tower filled with calcium superphosphate was adopted as experimental apparatus, which was constructed by poly vinyl chloride (PVC) circular tubes. With hartshorn as the source of ammonia volatilization, the effect of different ratios of height to diameter of the tower filled with equal amount of calcium super-phosphate on ammonia adsorption was investigated. In addition, adsorption tower with height-diameter ratio of 9.9 was selected to adsorb the ammonia emitted from the composting systems of pig manure and chicken manure with optimized and reg- ulated carbon-nitrogen ratio. [Result] Under certain volatilization rate, calcium super- phosphate particles in the adsorption tower could effectively adsorb the ammonia, and the adsorption efficiency was enhanced with the increase of height-diameter ra-tio, which could reach above 90% with height-diameter ratio of more than 1.1; the ammonia emitted from composting systems of pig manure and chicken manure with optimized and regulated carbon-nitrogen ratio could be completely absorbed using adsorption tower with height-diameter ratio of 9.9 filled with calcium superphosphate accounting for about 8% of the weight of composting materials. [Conclusion] Experi- mental results of this study provided reference for the application of adsorption tower filled with calcium superphosphate in the treatment of waste gas emitted from com- posting materials.展开更多

The ...A facile one-step co-precipitation method was demonstrated to fabricate amorphous sulfurcontaining calcium phosphate (SCP) nanoparticles, in which the sulfur group was in-situ introduced into calcium phosphate. The resulting SCP exhibited a noticeable enhanced performance for Pb(II) removal in comparison with hydroxyapatite (HAP), being capable of easily reducing 20 ppm of Pb(II) to below the acceptable standard for drinking water within less than 10 min. Remarkably, the saturated removal capacities of Pb(II) on SCP were as high as 1720.57 mg/g calculated by the Langmuir isotherm model, exceeding largely that of the previously reported absorbents. Significantly, SCP displayed highly selective removal ability toward Pb(II) ions in the presence of the competing metal ions (Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II)). Further investigations indicated that such ultra-high removal efficiency and preferable affinity of Pb(II) ions on SCP may be reasonably ascribed to the formation of rodlike hydroxypyromorphite crystals on the surface of SCP via dissolution-precipitation and ion exchange reactions, accompanied by the presence of lead sulfide precipitates. High removal efficiency, fast removal kinetics and excellent selectivity toward Pb(II) made the obtained SCP material an ideal candidate for Pb(II) ions decontamination in practical application.展开更多

Batch experiments of calcium phosphate precipitation were undertaken with synthetic water that contained 20 mg/L phosphate (as P) and 20 mg/L HS (as dissolved organic carbon, DOC) at a constant pH value in the range of 8.0-10.0. The concentration variations of phosphate, calcium (Ca) and HS were measured in the precipitation process; the crystalline state and compositions of the precipitates were analysed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical methods, respectively. It showed that at solution pH 8.0, the precipitation rate and removal efficiency of phosphate were greatly reduced by HS, but at solution pH ≥9.0, the effect of HS was very small. The Ca consumption for the precipitation of phosphate increased when HS was added; HS was also removed from solution with the precipitation of calcium phosphate. At solution pH 8.0 and HS concentrations ≤3.5 mg/L, and at pH ≥ 9.0 and HS concentrations ≤ 10 mg/L, the final precipitates were proved to be hydroxyapatite (HAP) by XRD. The increases of solution pH value and initial Ca/P ratio helped reduce the influence of HS on the precipitation of phosphate.展开更多

A recent study synthesized quaternary ammonium methacrylates (QAMs) with chain lengths (CLs) of 3-18 and determined their effects on a bonding agent. This study aimed to incorporate these QAMs into NACP nanocomposites for the first time to simultaneously endow the material with antibacterial and remineralizing capabilities and to investigate the effects of the CL on the mechanical and biofilm properties. Five QAMs were synthesized: DMAPM (CL3), DMAHM (CL6), DMADDM (CL12), DMAHDM (CL16), and DMAODM (CL18). Each QAM was incorporated into a composite containing 20% NACP and 50% glass fillers. A dental plaque microcosm biofilm model was used to evaluate the antibacterial activity. The flexural strength and elastic modulus of nanocomposites with QAMs matched those of a commercial control composite (n = 6; P 〉 0.1). Increasing the CL from 3 to 16 greatly enhanced the antibacterial activity of the NACP nanocomposite (P 〈 0.05); further increasing the CL to 18 decreased the antibacterial potency. The NACP nanocomposite with a CL of 16 exhibited biofilm metabolic activity and acid production that were 10-fold lesser than those of the control composite. The NACP nanocomposite with a CL of 16 produced 2-log decreases in the colony-forming units (CFU) of total microorganisms, total streptococci, and mutans streptococci. In conclusion, QAMs with CLs of 3-18 were synthesized and incorporated into an NACP nanocomposite for the first time to simultaneously endow the material with antibacterial and remineralization capabilities. Increasing the C/reduced the metabolic activity and acid production of biofilms and caused a 2-log decrease in CFU without compromising the mechanical properties. Nanocomposites exhibiting strong anti-biofilm activity, remineralization effects, and mechanical properties are promising materials for tooth restorations that inhibit caries.展开更多

Three experimental groups were prepared, comprised of TCP scaffolds(1) seeded with BMSCs;(2) wrapped with osteogenic matrix cell sheets; or(3) both. Constructs were implanted into a femoral defect model in rats and bone growth was evaluated by radiography, histology, biochemistry, and mechanical testing after 8 wk. RESULTS: In bone defects, constructs implanted with cell sheets showed callus formation with segmentalor continuous bone formation at 8 wk, in contrast to TCP seeded with BMSCs, which resulted in bone nonunion. Wrapping TCP constructs with osteogenic matrix cell sheets increased their osteogenic potential and resulting bone formation, compared with conventional bone tissue engineering TCP scaffolds seeded with BMSCs. The compressive stiffness(mean ± SD) values were 225.0 ± 95.7, 30.0 ± 11.5, and 26.3 ± 10.6 MPa for BMSC/TCP/Sheet constructs with continuous bone formation, BMSC/TCP/Sheet constructs with segmental bone formation, and BMSC/TCP constructs, respectively. The compressive stiffness of BMSC/TCP/Sheet constructs with continuous bone formation was significantly higher than those with segmental bone formation and BMSC/TCP constructs.CONCLUSION: This technique is an improvement over current methods, such as TCP substitution, and is useful for hard tissue reconstruction and inducing earlier bone union in defects.展开更多

The objectives of this study were (1) to develop a composite containing quaternary ammonium dimethacrylate (QADM), nanoparticles of silver (NAg), and nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP), and (2) to conduct the first investigation of the mechanical properties, biofilm response and acid production vs water-ageing time from 1 day to 12 months. A 4 x 5 design was utilized, with four composites (NACP-QADM composite, NACP-NAg composite, NACP-QADM-NAg composite, and a commercial control composite), and five water-ageing time periods (1 day, and 3, 6, 9, and 12 months). After each water- ageing period, the mechanical properties of the resins were measured in a three-point flexure, and antibacterial properties were tested via a dental plaque biofilm model using human saliva as an inoculum. After 12 months of water-ageing, NACP-QADM- NAg had a flexural strength and elastic modulus matching those of the commercial control (P〉 0.1). Incorporation of QADM or NAg into the NACP composite greatly reduced biofilm viability, metabolic activity and acid production. A composite containing both QADM and NAg possessed a stronger antibacterial capability than one with QADM or NAg alone (P〈0.05). The anti-biofilm activity was maintained after 12 months of water-ageing and showed no significant decrease with increasing time (P〉0.1). In conclusion, the NACP-QADM-NAg composite decreased biofilm viability and lactic acid production, while matching the load- bearing capability of a commercial composite. There was no decrease in its antibacterial properties after 1 year of water-ageing. The durable antibacterial and mechanical properties indicate that NACP-QADM-NAg composites may be useful in dental restorations to combat caries.展开更多

In this work, stable colloidal ACPs were prepared by using an organic bisphosphonate (BP) as a sterically hindered agent in aqueous solution. The harvested calcium phosphate nanoparticles were characterized by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). ICP-AES, FTIR and XRD results suggested the particles were ACP. DLS and TEM results indicated that the size of the ACP nanoparticles were in the range of 60 nm with a spherical morphology. The resulting calcium phosphate nanoparticles retained its amorphous nature in aqueous solution for at least 6 months at room temperature due to the stabilizing effect of the organic bisphosphonate. Moreover, the surface of the ACP nanoparticles adsorbed with the organic bisphosphate used showed good redispersibility and high colloid stability both in organic and aqueous solutions.展开更多

We recently developed a novel rechargeable dental composite containing nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) with long-term calcium (Ca) and phosphate (P) ion release and caries-inhibiting capability. The objectives of this study were to develop the first NACP- rechargeable orthodontic cement and investigate the effects of recharge duration and frequency on the efficacy of ion re-release. The rechargeable cement consisted of pyromellitic glycerol dimethacrylate (PMGDM) and ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate (EBPADMA). NACP was mixed into the resin at 40% by mass. Specimens were tested for orthodontic bracket shear bond strength (SBS) to enamel, Ca and P ion initial release, recharge and re-release. The new orthodontic cement exhibited an SBS similar to commercial orthodontic cement without CaP release (P〉 0.1). Specimens after one recharge treatment (e.g., 1 min immersion in recharge solution repeating three times in one day, referred to as "1 min 3 times") exhibited a substantial and continuous re-release of Ca and P ions for 14 days without further recharge. The ion re-release did not decrease with increasing the number of recharge/re-release cycles (P〉 0.1). The ion re-release concentrations at 14 days versus various recharge treatments were as follows: 1 min 3 times〉3 min 2 times〉 1 min 2 times〉6 min 1 time〉3 min 1 time〉 1 min 1 time. In conclusion, although previous studies have shown that NACP nanocomposite remineralized tooth lesions and inhibited caries, the present study developed the first orthodontic cement with Ca and P ion recharge and long-term release capability. This NACP-rechargeable orthodontic cement is a promising therapy to inhibit enamel demineralization and WSLs around orthodontic brackets.展开更多

Three different cell types , a human osteoblastic cell line ( HOS ) , primary human osteoblasts (HOB) and human mesenehymal stem cells (MSCs), were used to examine biocompatibility and osteoinductive capacity. The experimental results showed both materials were highly biocompatible and proliferation was significantly greater on pure HA ( P 〈 0.01 ), with a peak in proliferation at day 7. Protein levels were significantly higher ( P 〈 0.05) than the control Thermanox( TMX ( tm) ) for both test materials. Osteoinduction of MSCs was observed on both test materials, with cells seeded on HA/ β-TCP showing greater alkaline phosphatase activity compared to HA alone, indicating an enhancement in osteoinductive property. Both materials show good potential for use as tissue engineered scaffolds.展开更多

The synthesized powders were pressed under a pressure of 90 MPa, and then were sintered at 1000-1200℃ for 1 h. The mechanical properties of the samples were investigated. The formed phases and microstructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the synthesis time was shorter, along with a more homogeneous microstructure, when the microwave irradiation assisted method was applied. The compression strength and the Young's modulus of the samples synthesized with microwave irradiation were about 60 MPa and 3 GPa, but those of the samples synthesized without microwave irradiation were about 30 MPa and 2 GPa, respectively. XRD patterns of the microwave irradiation assisted and non-microwave irradiation assisted nanopowders showed the coexistence of hydroxyapatite (HA) and lricalcium phosphate (TCP) phases in the system.展开更多
文摘Bioactive scaffolds with interconnected porous structures are essential for guiding cell growth and new bone formation. Our results suggested that the introduction of appropriate CS into β-TCP bioceramic is an effective strategy to prepare bioactive 3D printed bioceramic scaffolds for hard tissue regeneration.

文摘Guided bone regeneration in the alveolar bone relies on the colonization and differentiation of immune cells within the defect area. The absence of osteoinductive and osteoimmune properties of currently available scaffolds hinders to achieve optimal repair outcomes in clinical settings. Thus,we aimed to enhance the bone repair ability of polycaprolactone(PCL)scaffolds by incorporating osteoinductive amorphous calcium phosphate(ACP)with immune-regulating zinc ions(ACP(Zn),ACZP),to create a favorable immunomodulatory microenvironment. After one day of co-culture with PCL-ACZP,the spreading area of macrophage cells was significantly higher than that from the original PCL scaffold.Additionally, over 32.1%of macrophages exhibited M2 polarization within three days of co-culture.The PCLACZP/macrophage-conditioned medium significantly boosted osteogenic gene expression in MC3T3-E1 cells. After eight weeks of implantation in a rat femoral condyle defect, the BV/TV from the PCL-ACZP group reached 32.9%,1.4 times of that from the PCL group.Furthermore, the PCL-ACZP-GelMA biphasic module as prepared successfully achieved complete regeneration of three-walled alveolar bone defects in rabbits, resulting in arch-shaped alveolar bone repair and providing greater convenience in the clinical settings. This study showcased the effectiveness of PCL-ACZP-GelMA biphasic module as bioactive scaffolds in the morphological restoration of alveolar bone.

文摘A novel macroparticle magnesium-modified biochar/yttrium alginate(Mg-BC/SA-Y)hybrid biogel composite was successfully developed through a facile solution reaction of magnesium-modified BC and yttrium alginate polymer, and its properties were characterized. The obtained Mg-BC/SA-Y biogel beads have a particle size of approximately 1.5 mm,featuring abundant network pores and an uneven, distinctive surface. The performance and mechanisms of Mg-BC/SA-Y for phosphate adsorption were thoroughly investigated. The findings indicate that Mg-BC/SA-Y removes up to 95.7%of phosphate at pH4.0 and 298 K,and also achieves a phosphate removal efficiency of over 80%within a pH range of3.0-11.0.The adsorption capacity of Mg-BC/SA-Y for phosphate is nearly four times that of BC.The spontaneous adsorption processes and endothermic adsorption behavior can be elucidated by the pseudo-second-order rate and Langmuir equations, respectively.Phosphate adsorption is almost unaffected by water ionic strength and common coexisting ions, except for the influence of highconcentration F-ions.The recyclable biogel beads can be reused after adsorbing phosphate, and represent excellent stability and practicability in real water. The mechanisms of ligand exchange, innersphere complexation and electrostatic attraction are involved in phosphate removal.Mg-BC/SA-Y biogel polymer is a desirable and sustainable biosorbent for treating water with excessive phosphate levels and reducing pollution and carbon emissions.

文摘Excessive phosphorus and arsenic in water bodies not only destroy ecosystems but also pose a serious threat to human health. In this study,a series of Al-doped modified metal-organic frameworks(Zr-Al-MOF)were prepared by solvothermal method, which achieved efficient removal of phosphate and arsenate in water.Due to the use of inexpensive Al salts, the material has a lower cost and is more economical. The molar ratio of metal salts, adsorption time, solution pH,initial concentration, temperature and coexisting anions were studied, and it was found that when the molar ratio of Zr:Al was 2,Zr-Al-MOF had the best adsorption performance for phosphate and arsenate, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 93.04 mg P/g and 173.83 mg As/g,respectively.It traps phosphate and arsenate at a fast reaction rate and can be recycled repeatedly. In addition,0.15 g/L of 2Zr-Al-MOF can effectively reduce the phosphate and arsenate content in the contaminated spring water samples of Yangzonghai Lake to the standard range of drinking water, which further confirms the application potential of 2Zr-Al-MOF.By FT-IR and XPS analysis,it was found that the adsorption mechanism was ligand exchange, electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bond formation. The theoretical calculation shows that the adsorption energy is negative, which indicates that 2Zr-Al-MOF is attractive to phosphate and arsenate, and the adsorption state is stable. The results show that 2Zr-Al-MOF is an effective phosphate and arsenate adsorbent and has broad application prospects in eutrophication water treatment.

文摘While nuclear energy represents a low-carbon and high-efficiency energy source that plays a vital role in the global energy mix,the limitations of spent fuel reprocessing technology pose a major challenge to its sustainable development. The PUREX(plutonium uranium redox extraction)process is currently the dominant nuclear fuel reprocessing technology in the world. However, the key extractant in this process is tributyl phosphate(TBP),which degrades under intense radiation, high temperatures, and strong acidity. This leads to the production of dibutyl phosphate, monobutyl phosphate, and other degradation byproducts, which may reduce the extraction efficiency and trigger third-phase formation and equipment corrosion. This paper systematically reviews the degradation mechanisms of TBP and its diluents, the analytical technique suitable for characterizing degradation products, and the impact of degradation products on the post-treatment process.Additionally, optimization strategies employed for suppressing third-phase formation are discussed. This study offers a theoretical foundation and technical insights in optimizing the PUREX process and ensuring the safe operation of the post-treatment process.
文摘For India to achieve elimination by 2030,the challenges posed by Plasmodium(P.)vivax cannot be overlooked owing to its burden and unique biology. In 2023,in India, about 224000 malaria cases were reported, and a significant proportion(40%)were P.vivax cases. In P.vivax infection, the persistence of dormant liver stage of parasite,i.e.,hypnozoites,leading to relapses weeks or months later poses challenge in its elimination.

文摘The interaction mechanism between eggshell calcium and endogenous silica in biomass during biochar modification, and its impact on phosphate adsorption performance and slow-release fertilizer characteristics, remains unexplored. This study investigates that high silica content in biomass(>6%)inhibits the decomposition of CaCO_(3)in eggshells during pyrolysis, reducing the formation of active calcium species(CaO and Ca(OH)_(2)),while moderate silica levels(4%-5%)promote the formation of CaSiO_(3),enhancing phosphorus adsorption without hindering Ca^(2+)activation.Adsorption studies reveal that the precipitation of Ca_(5)(PO_(4))_(3)(OH)resulting from the combination of CaO and Ca(OH)_(2)with phosphate is the primary and effective form for phosphorus removal in calcium-modified adsorbents, accompanied by Ca_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)·2H_(2)O precipitation formed by CaSi O_(3).Eggshell calcium-modified corn straw biochar(ECS)exhibited the highest adsorption capacity, reaching 123.3 mg/g,outperforming materials in previous studies.ECS also demonstrated excellent pH adaptability and selective phosphate removal. As a biochar-based phosphorus fertilizer,ECS-P exhibits high phosphorus extractability in formic acid(93.92%)but low water solubility(0.62%),with phosphorus release during the seven-day intermittent leaching experiment remaining between 0.53 to 0.875 mg/L.These results confirm its potential as a phosphorus cycling fertilizer. This study provides fundamental insights into optimizing biomass selection based on silica content for calcium modification, offering an efficient strategy for both phosphate recovery and slow-release fertilizer development.

文摘The possible application of magnesium(Mg)in glaucoma surgical treatment has been investigated in our previous work.In this paper, the degradation behavior and biocompatibility of Mg coated with hydroxyapatite(HA)and dicalcium phosphate dihydrate(DCPD)in eye environment were evaluated, and uncoated Mg was used for comparison. It was found that uniform corrosion occurred macroscopically to the coated Mg samples in sodium lactate ringer’s injection(SLRI)as well as in the rabbit eyes.In micro-scale,the corrosion was characterized by local cracking and pitting primarily.Mg and calcium(Ca)were incorporated into the surface corrosion products and a multi-layer structure was formed.Compared to other samples,HA-coated Mg slowed down dramatically the alkalinity of the solution and the ion release of the sample, and exhibited the lowest corrosion rate in SLRI,which was about 0.22 mm/a.In terms of biocompatibility, fibroblasts demonstrated high viability in the HA-coated and DCPD-coated Mg groups(p<0.05)in vitro. In vivo,HA-coated Mg was found to show lower inflammatory response and fibrosis than the other groups did,as indicated by hematoxylin-eosin and immunofluorescence staining.During the degrading process of HA-coated Mg in the rabbits’eyes,no inflammation was found in the anterior chamber, lens, and vitreous body.HA-coated Mg was fully biodegraded fifteen weeks post-operation,and the scleral drainage channel(SDC)was formed without obvious scarring. It is concluded that HA-coated Mg implantation is a promising adjunctive procedure to improve the success rate of trabeculectomy.Statement of significance:Magnesium(Mg)has shown to be a potential biomaterial for ophthalmic implants in our previous work. However, inflammatory response resulted from the low corrosion resistance of Mg is a major concern. It is shown here that Mg coated with different calcium phosphates can improve these properties in varying degrees and keep the scleral drainage channel unobstructed and unscarred.Based on our in vitro and in vivo studies,HA-coated Mg exhibited a better degradation behavior and excellent biocompatibility. The scleral drainage channel still exists and aqueous humor flows out smoothly after the full degradation of the implant. It is concluded that HA-coated Mg is a promising biomaterial to increase the therapeutic efficiency of trabeculectomy for glaucoma.

文摘Bio-mediated soil improvement methods keep on gaining the attention of geotechnical engineers and researchers globally due to their nature-based elegance and eco-friendliness.Most prevalent bio-mediated soil improvement methods include microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP)and enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation(EICP).During their processes, the bacteria/free urease hydrolyzes the urea into ammonium and carbonic acid, which is accompanied by a considerable increase of alkalinity(about pH 9.0).The major problem associated with the above techniques is the release of gaseous ammonia that is extremely detrimental. Therefore, this study aims to propose a new sustainable approach involving lactic acid bacteria to facilitate the calcium phosphate mineralization for the strengthening of sand matrix. The major objectives of this investigation are:(i)to evaluate the urease activity of the lactic acid bacteria under different temperatures,pH conditions and additions of metal ions,(ii)to assess the treated sand matrix,(iii)to perform cost analysis. The outcomes indicated that Limosilactobacillus sp.could effectively facilitate the urea hydrolysis, hence increasing the pH from acidic to neutral and providing a desirable environment for the calcium phosphate to mineralize within the voids of the sand. The addition of 0.01%Ni^(2+)in culture media was found to enhance the urease activity by 38.8%and compressive strength over 40%.A combined formation of amorphous-and whisker-like precipitates could bridge a larger area at particle-particle contact points, thereby faciliating a strong force-network in sand matrix. The mineralized calcium phosphate compound was found to be brushite. The cost herein for producing 1 L treatment solution was estimated to be about 2.5-folds and 11.8-folds lower compared to that of MICP and EICP treatment solutions, respectively. Moreover, since the treatment pH could potentially be regulated between acidic-neural range,it would greatly control the release of gaseous ammonia. With several environmental and economical benefits, the study has disclosed a new sustainable direction for sand improvement via the use of lactic acid bacteria.

文摘Zinc calcium phosphate (Zn-Ca-P) coating and cerium-doped zinc calcium phosphate (Zn-Ca-Ce-P) coating were prepared on AZ31 magnesium alloy. The Zn-Ca-Ce-P coating has the potential for the primer coating on magnesium alloys.
文摘[Objective] This study aimed to investigate the adsorption properties of the adsorption tower filled with calcium superphosphate on ammonia volatilized with aer- ation. [Conclusion] Experi- mental results of this study provided reference for the application of adsorption tower filled with calcium superphosphate in the treatment of waste gas emitted from com- posting materials.
文摘A facile one-step co-precipitation method was demonstrated to fabricate amorphous sulfurcontaining calcium phosphate (SCP) nanoparticles, in which the sulfur group was in-situ introduced into calcium phosphate. High removal efficiency, fast removal kinetics and excellent selectivity toward Pb(II) made the obtained SCP material an ideal candidate for Pb(II) ions decontamination in practical application.

文摘For phosphorus (P) recovery from wastewater, the effect of humic substances (HS) on the precipitation of calcium phosphate was studied. The increases of solution pH value and initial Ca/P ratio helped reduce the influence of HS on the precipitation of phosphate.

文摘Composites containing nanoparticles of amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) remineralize tooth lesions and inhibit caries. Nanocomposites exhibiting strong anti-biofilm activity, remineralization effects, and mechanical properties are promising materials for tooth restorations that inhibit caries.

文摘AIM: To determine the effects of transplanting osteogenic matrix cell sheets and beta-tricalcium phosphate(TCP) constructs on bone formation in bone defects.METHODS: Osteogenic matrix cell sheets were prepared from bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs), and a porous TCP ceramic was used as a scaffold. The compressive stiffness of BMSC/TCP/Sheet constructs with continuous bone formation was significantly higher than those with segmental bone formation and BMSC/TCP constructs.CONCLUSION: This technique is an improvement over current methods, such as TCP substitution, and is useful for hard tissue reconstruction and inducing earlier bone union in defects.

文摘Dental composites are commonly used restorative materials; however, secondary caries due to biofilm acids remains a major problem. The durable antibacterial and mechanical properties indicate that NACP-QADM-NAg composites may be useful in dental restorations to combat caries.

文摘Although much effort has been focused on the preparation of stable amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) nanoparticles in aqueous solution, the redispersibility and long-term stability of ACP nanoparticles in aqueous solution remains an unresolved problem. Moreover, the surface of the ACP nanoparticles adsorbed with the organic bisphosphate used showed good redispersibility and high colloid stability both in organic and aqueous solutions.

文摘White spot lesions (WSLs), due to enamel demineralization, occur frequently in orthodontic treatment. This NACP-rechargeable orthodontic cement is a promising therapy to inhibit enamel demineralization and WSLs around orthodontic brackets.
文摘This study examined the biological response of two porous calcium phosphate ceramics, hydroxyapntite ( HA ) and hydroxyapaptite/β-tricalcium phosphate ( HA/β- TCP ) scaffolds. Both materials show good potential for use as tissue engineered scaffolds.
文摘Biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) nanopowders were synthesized by using microwave and non-microwave irradiation assisted processes. XRD patterns of the microwave irradiation assisted and non-microwave irradiation assisted nanopowders showed the coexistence of hydroxyapatite (HA) and lricalcium phosphate (TCP) phases in the system.
