A retarding field energy analyzer(RFEA) is used to measure the time-averaged ion energy distributions(IEDs) on the substrate in both continuous wave(CW) and synchronous pulse modulated radio-frequency(RF) indu...A retarding field energy analyzer(RFEA) is used to measure the time-averaged ion energy distributions(IEDs) on the substrate in both continuous wave(CW) and synchronous pulse modulated radio-frequency(RF) inductively coupled Ar plasmas(ICPs).The effects of the phase shift θ between the RF bias voltage and the RF source on the IED is investigated under various discharge conditions.It is found that as θ increases from 0 to π,the IED moves towards the low-energy side,and its energy width becomes narrower.In order to figure out the physical mechanism,the voltage waveforms on the substrate are also measured.The results show that as θ increases from 0 to π,the amplitude of the voltage waveform decreases and,meanwhile,the average sheath potential decreases as well.Specifically,the potential drop in the sheath on the substrate exhibits a maximum value at the same phase(i.e.,θ = 0) and a minimum value at the opposite phase(i.e.,θ = π).Therefore,when ions traverse across the sheath region above the substrate,they obtain less energies at lower sheath potential drop,leading to lower ion energy.Besides,as θ increases from π to 2π,the IEDs and their energy widths change reversely.展开更多
We develop a hybrid scheme of cross phase modulation based on electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)and active Raman gain(ARG)in a multi-level atomic medium.The cross phase modulation,with low loss and without ...We develop a hybrid scheme of cross phase modulation based on electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)and active Raman gain(ARG)in a multi-level atomic medium.The cross phase modulation,with low loss and without noise,is demonstrated in a room-temperature ^(85)Rb vapor.We show that a p radian nonlinear Kerr phase shift of the signal light relative to a reference light is observed when the signal light is modulated by the phase control field with the low light intensity.We also show that the linear and the third-order absorption can be eliminated via the Raman gain,and the phase noise of the signal light can be ignored when the phase control light is applied in this hybrid scheme.展开更多

In this approach, two new phase-shifting signals are constructed by the difference interferograms normalization and noise suppressing, then the unknown phase shift between the two difference phase-shifting signals is estimated quickly through searching the minimum coefficient of variation of the modulation amplitude, a limited number of pixels are selected to participate in the search process to further save time, and finally the phase is reconstructed through the searched phase shift. Through the reconstruction of phase map by the simulation and experiment, and the comparison with several mature algorithms, the good performance of the proposed algorithm is proved, and it eliminates the limitation of requiring more than three phase-shifting interferograms for high-precision SGPSI. We expect this method to be widely used in the future.展开更多

A numerical model for steady state analysis and analytical expressions for the AM and FM modulation responses of DFB lasers are presented.The small signal modulation responses of 3 phase shift(PS) DFB is investigate...A numerical model for steady state analysis and analytical expressions for the AM and FM modulation responses of DFB lasers are presented.The small signal modulation responses of 3 phase shift(PS) DFB is investigated for the first time.A new method(Vector Newton method) to obtain multiple longitudinal mode of DFB lasers is used.It is demonstrated that this method is suitable for obtaining multiple solution of high nonlinear equations.Longitudinal photon density distribution and multiple longitudinal mode of 3PS DFB and simple DFB lasers are analyzed.The results show that modulation response characteristics of 3PS DFB laser is as good as that of DFB,and PS can weaken the longitudinal spatial hole burning (LHSB) effect and is in favor of single longitudinal mode operating of lasers.展开更多

The MPSK signals with unknown signal noise ratios (SNRs) are modeled as a Gaussian mixture model with unknown m...A nonparametric Bayesian method is presented to classify the MPSK (M-ary phase shift keying) signals. The MPSK signals with unknown signal noise ratios (SNRs) are modeled as a Gaussian mixture model with unknown means and covariances in the constellation plane, and a clustering method is proposed to estimate the probability density of the MPSK signals. The method is based on the nonparametric Bayesian inference, which introduces the Dirichlet process as the prior probability of the mixture coefficient, and applies a normal inverse Wishart (NIW) distribution as the prior probability of the unknown mean and covariance. Then, according to the received signals, the parameters are adjusted by the Monte Carlo Markov chain (MCMC) random sampling algorithm. By iterations, the density estimation of the MPSK signals can be estimated. Simulation results show that the correct recognition ratio of 2/4/8PSK is greater than 95% under the condition that SNR 〉5 dB and 1 600 symbols are used in this method.展开更多

However, for the existing liquid crystal optical device, aiming at the poor anti-vibration ...The technology for phase detection of liquid crystal optical device is a difficult research in current domestic and overseas. However, for the existing liquid crystal optical device, aiming at the poor anti-vibration capability and poor versatile of phase detection, the complexity of phase retrieval algorithm, we propose a new phase measurement principle and experimental methods of liquid crystal optical device. It is a phase measurement method based on the combination of phase- shifting interferometer and phase conjugation technology. The deflection characteristics of the liquid crystal device means the device can implement phase modulation to only one direction of polarized light while is completely transparent to orthogonal polarized light. We put forward the phase shift of the orthogonal polarization phase shift interferometer method, using phase shifting interference as well as the combination of phase conjugate means to achieve its phase measurement. So we can retrieves devices modulation phase simply and efficiently combines with phase- shifting interferometer technology.展开更多
