文摘The objective of this study was to investigate how kindergarten teachers respond to peer conflicts among 3-year-olds,with the aim of identifying common patterns and distinguishing features in their interventions. The age of three is a unique transitional period when young children begin attending kindergarten as their first social setting. The study was conducted in Hangzhou in China, using a case study methodology and involved 10 teachers from eight different kindergarten settings and 157 three-year-old children in eight classes. The 120 observed record identified 214 peer conflicts,54%of which were caused by object and space disputes;18%by physical collisions;16%by verbal disputes among young children;12%by violations of discipline and rules.Participating kindergarten teachers’approaches for resolving peer conflicts illustrated in the case study included(1)perfunctory response;(2)simple suppression;(3)authoritative determinations;(4)scientific guidance;and(5)objective factors influencing teachers’involvement(e.g.,teacher child ratio;child characteristics;teacher child relationship;parent understanding and support;classroom management;inspection;co-teacher cooperation).Class size,curriculum,teacher-child connections, parental support, and teacher collaboration are some of the objective elements that affect kindergarten teacher participation,as are the professional attributes of teachers and their perspectives on education and children.Practical recommendations for kindergarten teachers’involvement in peer conflict among young children were given based on the research findings.
文摘This study investigated the role of intentional self-regulation and the moderating role of peer relationship in the relationship between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement. The study sample comprised 540 Chinese senior secondary school students between the ages of 15–18(51.67%boys;Mage=16.56 years;SDage=0.90).They completed surveys on the Teacher-Student Relationship Scale, the Selection,Optimization, and Compensation(SOC)Scale, the Peer Relationship Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Learning Engagement Scale. The results following regression analysis showed that teacher-student relationship predicted higher learning engagement among senior secondary school students.Intentional self-regulation partially mediated the link between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement for higher learning engagement.Peer relationship moderated the relationships between teacher-student relationship and learning engagement and moderated the relationship between teacher-student relationship and intentional self-regulation for higher learning engagement.Thesefindings imply learning engagement can be enhanced by optimizing teacher-student relationship and strengthening intentional self-regulation interventions.

文摘The Chinese government promises to reach the carbon emission peak by 2030 and achieve the carbon neutrality by 2060.Renewable energy development is important for achieving this target.Local governments’behaviors and attitudes might be influenced by neighbors. Therefore, this study uses simultaneous autoregressive models(SAR)to examine the peer effects on renewable energy development across China’s provinces and explain the imbalanced renewable energy developments across regions in China. The results exemplified:①The peer effects exist in China and the endogenous interaction is the main cause.②The interaction between geographically adjacent provinces have greatest peer effects.③Both competition mechanism and learning mechanism induce the peer effects and the imbalanced development. This research introduces energy-related peer effects at the provincial level to reflect the preferences of governments and reveal the underlying mechanisms involved. It also provides suggestions to policy makers:①Select developed provinces as the frontrunner to promote the renewable energy development in neighboring areas.②Regional renewable energy development policies need to be considered.③Central government should consider adding“green growth indicators”into evaluation system to avoid the asymmetrical incentives policies between economic growth and environmental protection.
文摘Second language(L2)motivation has been a topic which receives intensive attention. However, the peer effect on L2 motivation is insufficiently researched, although it is considered a crucial factor which may significantly mediate learners’L2 motivation.Hence, the current study adopted Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System(L2MSS)as a theoretical framework and investigated in which specific aspects peers might affect the learners’L2 motivation and whether such effect was long-lasting.The research was designed as a small-scale qualitative study which was located in a language-focused experimental class project in China.Ten participants were recruited and individual interviews were conducted. The results demonstrated that, first, peers could remarkably influence the L2 motivation possessed by the students in the experimental class since they tended to create a clearer ideal L2 self and a more powerful ought-to L2 self.Second, although they had both positive and negative views towards the curriculum,a motivated peer climate could alleviate the pressure caused by the curriculum and reinforce positive attitudes.Third, such peer effect was not long-lasting.Based on the research results, pedagogical implications were proposed in terms of establishing a positive peer group and adjusting the emphasis of the curriculum.
文摘The long-term quality of life of dialysis patients is closely linked to their self-management abilities, such as fluid intake control, medication compliance, and fistula care.Traditional health education models for dialysis patient care, characterized by one-way instruction and a lack of interaction, often result in low patient compliance and inadequate knowledge acquisition.Peer instruction,as a patient-centered educational strategy, leverages the emotional resonance of“shared experiences”and the demonstrative effect of peers, and has been proven effective in improving self-management behaviors among chronic disease patients. This study focuses on the dialysis patient population, integrating clinical practice and technological innovation to deeply analyze the application pathways, effectiveness, and challenges of peer instruction. It aims to provide new ideas and methods for enhancing the quality of nursing education for dialysis patients, thereby improving their knowledge acquisition,self-care abilities, treatment compliance, and overall quality of life.

文摘As the goal of"low carbon"sustainable development becomes more salient, the corporations'environmental, social, and governance(ESG)practices are under higher visibility. How to promote the ESG performance of corporations has become a big challenge that needs to be solved.Spatial econometrics methods based on panel data on listed corporations in the period from 2018 to 2023 are used in the paper to empirically analyze the peer effect of a corporation from the view of strategic interaction. The results found relatively positive industry peer effects as well as regional peer effects. However, the latter is much weaker.Industry-wise results indicate that most sectors demonstrate positive peer competition on ESG issues, with only a few, like the special equipment manufacturing industry, not showing significant peer effects. The empirical results in this paper support the mode of cooperative interaction among firms, help broaden the scope of understanding factors that encourage ESG practices, and suggest relevant policies for boosting corporate social responsibilities and sustainable development through encouraging factors.
文摘Introduction Human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccination is a cornerstone of cervical cancer prevention, particularly in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs),where the burden of disease remains high~1.The World Health Organization(WHO)HPV Vaccine Introduction Clearing House reported that 147 countries(of 194 reporting)had fully introduced the HPV vaccine into their national schedules as of 20242.After COVID-19 pandemic disruptions, global coverage is again increasing.
文摘This study aimed to gather healthcare professionals’expectations and reluctance toward peer support in a cancer center.Semistructured interviews were conducted among 12 professionals, recruited in different professions. The interviews were fully transcribed, and a thematic analysis was then conducted.Of the data analysis, three main themes about professionals’expectations emerged:the need for the strongest support of the patients,to break the isolation in the sickness, and to enhance the care system.Three main themes also emerged from the data analysis about professionals’reluctances:the limitations related to the intervention of the peer-workers,the psychological issues of the relationship, and institutional barriers to the implementation of peer-support interventions. Our study shows that peer support could be a response to the expectations of healthcare professionals’,but its implementation should consider their reluctance.

文摘Corporate ESG performance is an important way for stakeholders to understand the corporate environment, social responsibility, and governance behavior.Under China’s implementation of the“carbon peak and carbon neutrality”dual carbon strategic background,ESG has become an important tool to promote the achievement of the“dual carbon”goals and high-quality development. How enterprises can reasonably and effectively improve their ESG performance and promote their green and sustainable development has become a major practical problem that urgently needs to be solved.Based on social learning and dynamic competition theories, this study takes Shanghai-Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2021 as research samples, empirically tests whether there is a peer effect in the ESG performance of listed companies in China, and examines the generation mechanism and influencing factors of the peer effect in the ESG performance of enterprises. The results show that:(i)There is an industry and regional peer effect on the ESG performance of enterprises, where the average ESG performance of other enterprises in the same industry and region, except for the focus enterprise, significantly affects the ESG performance of the focus enterprise. This core conclusion still holds true after robustness tests such as instrumental variable method, propensity score matching method, and first order difference method to eliminate endogeneity issues, replace key measurement indicators, and control for macro factors.(ii)The mechanism analysis results show that the“information learning”and“competitive pressure”mechanisms promote the peer effect of ESG performance.(iii)Further research has found that institutional investors’attention and government environmental regulations positively and significantly impact the peer effect of corporate ESG performance.(iv)Heterogeneity analysis shows that the ESG performance peer effect is more significant for large-scale,eastern,and state-owned enterprises than for small-scale,central,western,and non-state-owned enterprises. This study expands the boundaries of current ESG theory and empirical research, and the conclusions provide important policy implications for governments and enterprises.

文摘This study explored how mental health professionals collaborate with peer supporters with mental disabilities in a community mental health institution. From January 19 to February 23,2021,three 60 min interviews were conducted with six mental health professionals working at a Korean community center. The results were qualitatively analyzed and divided into four themes and eight categories. The four themes were the perceptions of and challenges in working with peer supporters with mental disabilities, conflict and confusion about working with peer supporters, forming partnerships with peer supporters, and policy support for peer supporters’job security.Participants reported vague anxiety about working with a peer supporter and difficulties with the trial-and-error process of adjusting to the role as challenging.Over time, however, they realized that they needed to make an effort to develop meaningful relationships with peer supporters and mental health professionals. Thus, through this study,we realized that there was a need to improve the system, such as building infrastructure for job stability for peer support workers and capacity building tailored to the mental disorders.Although peer supporters play various roles while working with mental health professionals, this study showed the possibility of mutual growth through communication and cooperation. These findings will help prepare systems necessary for collaboration between the two teams amidst the increasing institutionalization of peer support for mental disorders.
