Micro-scale built environment and pedestrian behavior: A focus on sidewalks in commercial districts in Tokyo

Sidewalks play an indispensable role in creating walkable environments.In commercial districts,sidewalks increase connectivity and can enhance pedestrian volume,which promotes commerce.While past research has explored commercial factors affecting pedestrian behavior on sidewalks,few studies have explored the effects of architectural factors.This study centers on two sidewalks in commercial districts in Tokyo as a case study,seeking to elucidate the relationship between micro-scale built environment factors and pedestrian behavior.Nineteen factors are analyzed in relation to pedestrian volume and staying.Correlation analysis reveals that pedestrian volume and staying are significantly correlated with seven and six built environment factors,respectively.Stepwise multiple linear regression further reveals that pedestrian volume is positively correlated with passable width,W/D,and movable greening,while being negatively correlated with flagship.Staying,conversely,is positively correlated with passable width,sky rate,and D/H.Based on these identified relationships,a predictive model is established for pedestrian volumes in sidewalks in commercial districts.The findings of this study may provide workable insights for decision-makers aiming to establish walkable environments and encouraging pedestrian activity and may aid in developing detailed plans based on specific factors influencing pedestrian behavior. 展开更多

This research provides a mixed method of investigating and analyzing pedestrian behavior in pedestrianized areas,which is one of the human-based urban development practices.The relationship between pedestrian behavior and perception of the city is discussed through a combination of architect and urban planner Gordon Cullen’s theory and Space Syntax methodology.This study examines the development and implementation of the methodology to understand the relationship between pedestrian behavior and space in Besiktas Koyici settlement,Istanbul.The methodology,integrated with on-site observations(observing 10 min at five different observation points in the settlement at predetermined times on weekdays and weekends),surveys(determining pedestrian movement and perception in terms of Cullen’s theory)and spatial configuration(Space Syntax analysis(connectivity,integrity)done with DepthMapX software),aims to analyze pedestrian behavior patterns.The concepts of sense of place and content,as well as the effects of their sub-concepts on their behaviors,were revealed because of a survey conducted with students and architects of variety of educational levels who are daily users of the field.Pedestrian counting and observations were used to create density,activity,and mobility maps of the area.It has been found that pedestrianized areas have a significant impact on pedestrian behavior through influencing vitality and appeal and that Cullen’s theory may be used to analyze pedestrian behavior and perceptions of the city.The study showed that spatial configuration and Cullen’s theory effect pedestrian movement by complementing each other. 展开更多

Pedestrian evacuation is actually a process of behavioral evolution. Interaction behaviors between pedestrians affect not only the evolution of their cooperation strategy, but also their evacuation paths-scheduling and dynamics features. The existence of interaction behaviors and cooperation evolution is therefore critical for pedestrian evacuation. To address this issue, an extended cellular automaton(CA) evacuation model considering the effects of interaction behaviors and cooperation evolution is proposed here. The influence mechanism of the environment factor and interaction behaviors between neighbors on the decision-making of one pedestrian to path scheduling is focused. Average payoffs interacting with neighbors are used to represent the competitive ability of one pedestrian, aiming to solve the conflicts when more than one pedestrian competes for the same position based on a new method. Influences of interaction behaviors, the panic degree and the conflict cost on the evacuation dynamics and cooperation evolution of pedestrians are discussed. Simulation results of the room evacuation show that the interaction behaviors between pedestrians to a certain extent are beneficial to the evacuation efficiency and the formation of cooperation behaviors as well. The increase of conflict cost prolongs the evacuation time. Panic emotions of pedestrians are bad for cooperation behaviors of the crowd and have complex effects on evacuation time. This model is verified with the pedestrian flow data of Changchun light-rail transfer station and Beijing Xizhimen transfer station. Adding the pedestrian choice model of vertical walking facilities into the pedestrian simulation model which is based on cellular automata, the pedestrian choice behavior is simulated. In the simulation, the effects of the dynamic influence factors are analyzed. To reduce the conflicts between pedestrians in opposite directions, the layout of vertical walking facilities is improved. The simulations indicate that the improved layout of vertical walking facilities can improve the efficiency of pedestrians passing. 展开更多

Simulation of pedestrians’behavior in the hub can help decision-makers to formulate better evacuation strategies.With this aim,this study develops an improved cellular automata model considering pedestrian’s mass-following psychology and competitive awareness,and based on this model,pedestrian’s evacuation process from the channel of the hub with two exits is simulated.Moreover,dynamic guidance information,e.g.,the realtime congestion situation of the evacuation routes,plays an important role during pedestrian evacuation processes in a hub,as the evaluation routes can be adjusted based on this information.That is,the congestion situation during the evaluation can be improved.Thus,dynamic signs are incorporated into the proposed model to study the influence of dynamic guidance information on pedestrian evacuation behavior.In simulation experiments,the influence of two parameters,namely the proportion of pedestrians unfamiliar with the hub and update interval of dynamic signs,on pedestrian evacuation behavior is studied.Results show that dynamic guidance information can improve the efficiency of pedestrian evacuation.In particular,the higher the proportion of pedestrians unfamiliar with the hub is,the more obvious the effect of dynamic guidance information is.Besides,different proportions of pedestrians unfamiliar with the hub lead to different update intervals of dynamic signs.Finally,the results of this study can provide some implications to the practical hub operation and evacuation,e.g.,to standardize the order of evacuation routes and improve the information service level in the hub. 展开更多

Due to the fact that there is no protected signal phase for right turns at most signalized intersections, the conflict between pedestrians and right-turning vehicles is one of the most common conflict types for pedestrians. A pedestrian safety analysis of the common right-turn mode at four-phase signalized intersections is presented. Relative risk is used as a measure of the effect of behaviors. The analysis mainly includes five pedestrian factors that affect the conflict process between pedestrians and right-turning vehicles. Pedestrians tend to have a higher risk of being involved in conflicts in the following six situations: crossing with others, running over the crossing, entering the intersection, being near the exit lane, crossing in the middle or at the end of a green light when the right-turn lane is shared, crossing at the beginning of a green light or red period when the right-turn lane is exclusive. It is easier for pedestrians to get priority when crossing the street in the following situations: running over a crossing, entering the intersection, being near the entrance lane, and not using the crosswalk. However, pedestrians are more inclined to yield to right-turning vehicles when pedestrians are crossing in the middle of the green light time. Some measures to alleviate the conflict are put forward according to the conclusion. Video observations also indicate that a clear pedestrian waiting area must be marked for both pedestrian safety and right-turning vehicle efficiency at major flat intersections, particularly when the arms cover the lateral dividing strips. 展开更多

基于多源特征融合的行人穿越行为预测

目的在智能驾驶领域,准确预测行人穿越行为对于确保车辆和行人安全至关重要。方法设计了一种结合多种计算机视觉技术的行人穿越行为预测模型,该模型通过分析行人的位置、姿态、动作及环境特征来准确判断行人意图。为了增强模型对不同距... 目的在智能驾驶领域,准确预测行人穿越行为对于确保车辆和行人安全至关重要。方法设计了一种结合多种计算机视觉技术的行人穿越行为预测模型,该模型通过分析行人的位置、姿态、动作及环境特征来准确判断行人意图。为了增强模型对不同距离行人的感知能力,采用了不同尺度放大的预处理和数据滤波平滑的后处理技术。提出了先条件后预测(Predict after Condition,PAC)两阶段方法,以实现更为有效的行人穿越预测。结果基于JAAD数据集的测试结果表明:所提模型平均精度达89.31%,相较于传统单阶段方法提升了8.76%。结论特征重要度分析进一步表明:加入路面面积特征后,预测准确率从68.43%显著提升至85.06%,强调了行人位置与路面轮廓关系在行人穿越行为研究中的重要性。对降低人车碰撞事故,提高智能驾驶车辆的安全性具有重要意义。 展开更多

基于多尺度增强生成对抗网络的行人异常行为检测

针对行人异常行为检测中存在样本不均衡、目标尺度变化较大和背景干扰的问题,提出了一种基于多尺度增强生成对抗网络的行人异常行为检测方法。利用改进的U-Net作为生成器的主干网络,将卷积块注意力模块嵌入生成器的解码过程,降低背景的... 针对行人异常行为检测中存在样本不均衡、目标尺度变化较大和背景干扰的问题,提出了一种基于多尺度增强生成对抗网络的行人异常行为检测方法。利用改进的U-Net作为生成器的主干网络,将卷积块注意力模块嵌入生成器的解码过程,降低背景的干扰,实现对检测目标的特征提取和重构。在生成器的跳跃跨接中引入多尺度特征融合增强模块细化对不同目标的表达能力,并结合记忆模块设计多尺度记忆特征增强模块提高对正常行为的重构表现。进一步对损失函数进行改进,结合异常得分,完成对行人异常行为的检测。在UCSD Ped2、CUHK Avenue、Shanghai Tech三个数据集上测得该算法的AUC分别为98.6%、88.7%和77.3%,实验结果表明了该算法在不同场景中针对行人异常行为检测具有良好的检测效果。 展开更多

为解决城市轨道交通换乘时间计算不准的问题,本文提出一种考虑乘客行为和动态拥堵的多智能体仿真方法。该方法构建了融合路径选择与双向拥堵效应的微观仿真模型,通过赋予每个乘客独立的决策能力与速度属性,一体化模拟其下车、走行、等... 为解决城市轨道交通换乘时间计算不准的问题,本文提出一种考虑乘客行为和动态拥堵的多智能体仿真方法。该方法构建了融合路径选择与双向拥堵效应的微观仿真模型,通过赋予每个乘客独立的决策能力与速度属性,一体化模拟其下车、走行、等待至上车的完整换乘过程。以北京朝阳门站为实例的仿真结果表明,该模型能有效复现高峰期客流的动态拥堵现象,与实际走行时间的偏差为4.28%,并揭示了双向客流对冲是导致走行速度下降与换乘时间增加的关键因素,当双向拥堵系数从低水平增加到高水平时,总走行时间激增了72.1%。本研究通过精细刻画微观行为,提升了换乘时间预测的准确性,可为客流组织优化与列车时刻表协同调整提供决策支持。 展开更多

智能汽车在与行人频繁交互的混合交通流中,其运行的安全性和效率面临严峻挑战。为应对此挑战,对人车交互行为的精准建模已成为关键。该技术不仅是提升车辆决策智能水平的核心途径,也是构建高保真虚拟测试场景的基石,两者共同为实现更安... 智能汽车在与行人频繁交互的混合交通流中,其运行的安全性和效率面临严峻挑战。为应对此挑战,对人车交互行为的精准建模已成为关键。该技术不仅是提升车辆决策智能水平的核心途径,也是构建高保真虚拟测试场景的基石,两者共同为实现更安全的行驶、更优的交互体验与更高的通行效率提供了核心支撑。然而,当前该领域的研究呈现高度碎片化的特征,且缺乏系统性的梳理与归纳。为此,对人车交互建模技术的前沿进展与核心挑战进行全面综述。首先从交通安全、效用最大化、社会规范与信息交换4个维度,深度剖析了人车交互的关键特性,并在此基础上构建了其形式化定义;其次,系统回顾了行为建模的主流技术路线与交互效应的量化方法,并探讨了智能汽车作为交互主体的独有特性及其建模范式;最后,对该技术的未来发展趋势进行了总结与展望。揭示了当前研究存在的若干核心局限:理论层面,对行人的行为认知机制理解尚浅,且对交互中信息沟通作用的认知缺乏系统性;模型层面,现有模型的物理或效用假设存在局限,不同类型模型的融合研究不足;情境层面,普遍忽视了交互场景、车辆特性及参与者异质性等关键要素;方法层面,数据驱动模型仍面临可解释性不强的瓶颈。针对上述挑战,未来研究应聚焦于深化认知机理的理解,探索物理与效用耦合、专家知识与数据共驱的路径,并系统性地将场景、车辆及个体异质性等因素纳入考量。值得注意的是,多模态大语言模型、具身认知等前沿理论与技术正为此领域带来新的研究范式。推动该领域的实质性突破,亟需多学科的深度交叉融合与新兴技术的创新性应用,以最终促成一个更为安全、高效和人性化的新一代智能交通系统。 展开更多

In the model part, a mixed survey including the questionnaire investigation and tracking investigation is conducted to gain the basic data about walking tendentiousness of a pedestrian crossing. Then, the forward, right-hand, outstripping, and influential coefficients are outlined to quantize walking tendentiousness of pedestrian crossing and estimate transition probabilities of pedestrians. At last, an improved cellular automation model is proposed to describe walking tendentious- ness and crossing behaviors of pedestrians. In the application part, channelization research of bidirectional pedestrian flows is presented for real signalized crosswalk. In this process, the effects of right-side-walking and conformity behaviors on the efficiency of pedestrian crossing are thoroughly analyzed based on simulations and experiments to obtain a final channelization method to raise the efficiency of a pedestrian crossing at the crosswalk. 展开更多

为探究手机分心行为对行人运动轨迹、步态特征和步行速度的影响,本文通过设计可控实验方案,开展了正常与3种分心(阅读、发消息和看视频)状态下的步行运动实验。基于图像处理技术获得高精度行人运动轨迹,量化分析不同的分心行为对运动轨... 为探究手机分心行为对行人运动轨迹、步态特征和步行速度的影响,本文通过设计可控实验方案,开展了正常与3种分心(阅读、发消息和看视频)状态下的步行运动实验。基于图像处理技术获得高精度行人运动轨迹,量化分析不同的分心行为对运动轨迹、步长、步宽、步进时间和步行速度的影响。结果表明:分心行为使运动轨迹更加无序,其中视频组的偏移距离最大,较正常组增加33.98%。分心行为使行人加速能力变差,行人的步行速度降低,视频组的加速度下降26.78%,弛豫时间增加了44.88%,步行速度下降幅度达28.24%。从步态特征来看,整体步长随着分心程度的加重而缩短,步宽和步进时间则呈现相反趋势。其中消息组步长最短,步宽最大,步进时间最长。通过线性拟合步行速度与步态参数之间的关系发现,步长随步行速度的增大而增加,步宽和步进时间与速度成反比。 展开更多

无信号灯控制路段人行横道作为交通事故高发区域,其车辆让行行为是平衡行人安全与交通效率的核心问题。本文针对无信号灯控制路段人行横道车辆让行率低与违法判定标准单一化问题,提出异质性车辆让行行为模型与决策空间分区框架。基于西... 无信号灯控制路段人行横道作为交通事故高发区域,其车辆让行行为是平衡行人安全与交通效率的核心问题。本文针对无信号灯控制路段人行横道车辆让行率低与违法判定标准单一化问题,提出异质性车辆让行行为模型与决策空间分区框架。基于西安市雁塔路中段人行横道1511起人车交互事件数据,结合动力学模型与Logistic回归分析,得出以下结论:车辆让行行为群体异质性显著,公交车让行率最高,出租车因经济激励驱动接近速度最高,私家车让行率最低。速度-距离为核心动力学变量,车速每增1 m·s^(-1),让行概率降18.6%;纵向距离每扩1 m,让行概率升13.7%;行人速度每升1 m·s^(-1)显著提升让行概率317%。社会环境驱动行为合规性,并行车辆触发“规范性效应”,使让行概率提升146%;低流量时段违法风险显著上升,需通过警示设施弥补监管缺口。本文可为差异化执法、车辆群体管控及设施优化提供理论支撑。 展开更多

行人在交通环境中的转弯行为是行人交通流研究的重要组成部分。本文以L型单向通道中的行人流为研究对象,基于实地实验和模拟仿真研究转弯行人运动机理。首先,依据行人转弯时在不同区域的运动特征,将L型通道划分为4个区域,并考虑不同宽... 行人在交通环境中的转弯行为是行人交通流研究的重要组成部分。本文以L型单向通道中的行人流为研究对象,基于实地实验和模拟仿真研究转弯行人运动机理。首先,依据行人转弯时在不同区域的运动特征,将L型通道划分为4个区域,并考虑不同宽度和不同服务水平下的行人运动特征,改进现有模型的自驱动力方向和通行规则,建立改进的L型通道直角转弯模型。然后,在地铁站直角转弯区及模拟场地采集行人转弯轨迹,分析路径选择、变道位置和转弯位置,并据此标定改进的直角转弯模型参数,搭建行人直角转弯仿真平台。最后,对比分析100条L型直角转弯通道的右转行人轨迹的仿真与实验数据,得到实验轨迹空间和仿真轨迹空间相似度为89.4%,验证了改进模型的准确性和有效性。 展开更多

目的儿童是交通环境中易受伤害的群体之一。探讨儿童过街的方式和规律。预测儿童的过街风格,以预防儿童交通伤害。方法随机抽取沈阳市某小学一年级、三年级和六年级的儿童共60名,使用中国版《行人行为量表》获得儿童对自身过街行为表现... 目的儿童是交通环境中易受伤害的群体之一。探讨儿童过街的方式和规律。预测儿童的过街风格,以预防儿童交通伤害。方法随机抽取沈阳市某小学一年级、三年级和六年级的儿童共60名,使用中国版《行人行为量表》获得儿童对自身过街行为表现的主观认识并设计了包含投影和斑马线的模拟交通场景,通过视频记录儿童实际的过街行为表现,如儿童的过街时间。结果过街风格与年龄、性别、车速、车距、来车到达时间以及行人行为量表总分均存在显著相关(P<0.05);通过二元逻辑回归分析发现,性别、车速、车距可以显著预测儿童的过街风格。在车距为远时,不论是低分组还是高分组的儿童在车速慢情境下的来车到达时间均显著高于车速快情境下的来车到达时间。结论(1)临近车辆的速度和其与行人的相对距离影响儿童的过街行为;(2)来车到达时间影响儿童的过街风格;(3)车速、车距、行人行为量表得分显著预测儿童的过街风格。根据儿童行人的过街风格,可以有针对性地对小学生进行安全教育。 展开更多
