Response of sea-surface partial pressure of CO_(2)to ENSO events over the Taiwan Strait

El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)affects the changes in ocean physical elements in Taiwan Strait(TWS)primarily by regulating the strength of the East Asian Winter Monsoon(EAWM)and the intrusion of the Kuroshio.A... El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)affects the changes in ocean physical elements in Taiwan Strait(TWS)primarily by regulating the strength of the East Asian Winter Monsoon(EAWM)and the intrusion of the Kuroshio.Additionally,the fluctuating impact between nutrient-poor seawater with high dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC)that infiltrates owing to the Kuroshio during El Niño phases and nutrient-rich seawater with low DIC from the South China Sea(SCS)carried by the EAWM during La Niña phases determines the nutrient content in TWS,thereby sculpting appropriate or unsuitable biochemical environment.In this study,based on high-resolution sea-surface partial pressure of carbon dioxide(pCO_(2))data,we investigate the relationship between pCO_(2)level of TWS and ENSO events in winter.The physical mechanisms affecting the anomalous distribution of pCO_(2)level during ENSO are also explored.Stepwise regression was employed to identify the optimal influencing factors for modeling pCO_(2).Results indicate a significant positive correlation between Niño3.4 index and pCO_(2),which is significantly influenced by factors such as sea-surface temperature(SST),chlorophyll-a(Chl a),and DIC.These are related to the anomalously strong Kuroshio intrusion and weaker EAWM during El Niño years.It brings a large amount of high SST water with low nutrient concentration and high DIC,which is detrimental to CO_(2)dissolution and phytoplankton growth over the TWS,leading to an increase in pCO_(2).Conversely,pCO_(2)level is significantly low under the influence of SCS seawater during La Niña years.Based on the characterization of the pCO_(2)level response to ENSO,the carbon balance at TWS can be explored. 展开更多

Results showed that using low PO(0.1) did not affect the kinetic and final COchemisorption process. Moreover, small additions of oxygen(PO= 0.05) into the mixture flue gas, seemed to increase the COchemisorption. Additionally, the presence of alkaline carbonates modified the COcapture temperature range. COchemisorption kinetic parameters were determined assuming a double exponential model where direct COchemisorption and COchemisorption controlled by diffusion processes are considered.Finally, ionic diffusion was analyzed by ionic conduction analysis, where all the gravimetric and ionic measurements were in good agreement showing different diffusion processes depending on temperature.Finally, the oxygen and alkaline carbonate additions have positive effects during the COchemisorption process in LiAlO, and a possible reaction mechanism is presented. 展开更多

The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of welded X80 pipeline steel in simulated Ku'erle soil solution was studied by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and slow strain rate tests (SSRT). The microstructure of the welded steel was observed by optical microscopy (OM). It is demonstrated that the microstructure of the weld metal consists of acicular ferrite and grain boundary ferrite, while that of heat affected zone (HAZ) is a mixture of acicular ferrite and bainitic ferrite micro- constituents. The microstructure of the base steel is composed of ferrite and pearlite. The anodic dissolution of X80 pipeline steel in simulated Ku'erle soil solution could be enhanced and the SCC sensitivity increased with the increase of CO2 partial pressure. The SCC mechanism of X80 pipeline is a mixing mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement combined with anodic dissolution, and the hydrogen embrittlement plays a leading role. The higher SCC sensitivity of the weld metal was attributed to the metallurgical transformation, local hardening and residual stress. 展开更多

N-doped ZnO films were radio frequency(RF)sputtered on glass substrates and studied as a function of oxygen partial pressure(OPP)ranging from 3.0×10-4 to 9.5×10-3 Pa.X-ray diffraction patters confirmed the polycrystalline nature of the deposited films.The crystalline structure is influenced by the variation of OPP.Atomic force microscopy analysis confirmed the agglomeration of the neighboring spherical grains with a sharp increase of root mean square(RMS)roughness when the OPP is increased above 1.4×10-3 Pa.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that the incorporation of N content into the film is decreased with the increase of OPP,noticeably N 1s XPS peaks are hardly identified at 9.5×10-3 Pa.The average visible transmittance(380-700 nm) is increased with the increase of OPP(from~17%to 70%),and the optical absorption edge shifts towards the shorter wavelength.The films deposited with low OPP(≤3.0×10-4 Pa)show n-type conductivity and those deposited with high OPP(≥9.0×10-4 Pa)are highly resistive(>105Ω·cm) 展开更多

A high temperature equilibration experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of oxygen partial pres- sure on the phase equilibria and liquidus in CaO-Al2O3- FeOx system with the intermediate oxygen partial pressures of 10.13 Pa and 1.01 × 10^-3 Pa. The equilibrated phases and their compositions of the quenched samples were analyzed by using SEM/EPMA (Scanning Electron Microscope/Electron Probe Micro Analysis) and XRD (X Ray Diffraction). The phase equilibrium results include two cases, the two phase coexistence and the three-phase coexistence in the high Al2O3 region with oxygen partial pressure of either 10.13 Pa or 1.01 × 10^-3 Pa. Effects of oxygen partial pressure and temperature on the liquidus along the primary phase fields of CaO · Al2O3 and CaO · 2Al2O3 were nota hle. With the decrease of oxygen partial pressure, the liquid area expands and the liquidus of CaO · Al2O3 and CaO · 2Al2O3 primary fields moves to the Al2O3-FeOx region. On the other hand, the liquid area of CaO Al2O3-FeOx sys tem extends extremely to the high Al2O3 region with the temperature increasing from 1 400 to 1 500℃, especially at lower oxygen partial pressure. The influence of Ce addition on the oxidation behavior of 25Cr20Ni alloy at 950 oC under low oxygen partial pressure was inves-tigated. The oxidized samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and scratch tester to obtain the oxide phases, morphology, thickness, composition and adhesion property of the oxide scales. The experiment results indicated that a small amount of Ce addition (0.02 wt.% or 0.05 wt.%) promoted oxidation resistance and inhibited the growth of the needlelike oxide. The Ce addition also decreased the formation of MnCr2O4 but promoted the SiO2 formation un-derneath the Cr2O3, which largely contributed to the improvement of oxide scale spallation resistance. For the sample with 0.3 wt.% Ce addi-tion, the oxidation rate significantly increased and the spallation resistance of the oxide scale decreased. 展开更多

To obtain carbon dioxide (CO2) flux between water-air interface of Taihu lake, monthly water samplers at 14 sites and the local meteorological data of the lake were collected and analyzed in 1998. Carbon dioxide partial pressures (pCO2) at air-water interface in the lake were calculated using alkalinity, pH, ionic strength, active coefficient, and water temperature. The carbon fluxes at different sublakes and areas were estimated by concentration gradient between water and air in consideration of Schmidt numbers of 600 and daily mean windspeed at 10 m above water surface. The results indicated that the mean values of pCO2 in Wuli Lake,Meiliang Bay, hydrophyte area, west littoral zone, riverine mouths, and the open lake areas were 1 807.8±1 071.4(mean±standard deviation)μatm (latm=1.013 25×10^5pa), 416.3±217.0μatm, 576.5±758.8μatm, 304.2±9.43.5μatm, 1 933.6±1 144.7 μatm, and 448.5±202.6μatm, respectively. Maximum and minimum pCO2 values were found in the hypertrophic (4 053.7μatm) and the eutrophic (3.2 μatm) areas. The riverine mouth areas have the maximum fluxes (82.0±62.8 mmol/m^2a). But there was no significant difference between eutrophic and mesotrophic areas in pCO2 and the flux of CO2. The hydrophyte area, however, has the minimum (--0.58±12.9mmol/m^2a). In respect to CO2 equilibrium, input of the rivers will obviously influence inorganic carbon distribution in the riverine estuary. For example, the annual mean CO2 flux in Zhihugang River estuary was 19 times of that in Meiliang Bay, although the former is only a part of the latter. The sites in the body of the lake show a clear seasonal cycle with pCO2 higher than atmospheric equilibrium in winter, and much lower than atmospheric in summer due to CO2 consumption by photosynthesis. The CO2 amount of the net annual evasion that enters the atmosphere is 28.42×10^4 t/a, of which those from the west littoral zone and the open lake account for 53.8% and 36.7%, respectively. 展开更多

Objective:This study aimed to determine the effect of a culture-specificbehavior modificationprogram on glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)and blood pressure among adults with diabetes and hypertension.Methods:This study was a single-blind randomized controlled trial design.From January to May 2024,a total of 60 patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes and hypertension from the primary care unit of a hospital in northeastern(Isan)Thailand were recruited.The intervention group received the usual care supplemented by a culture-specificbehavior modificationprogramm implemented through interactive classes and online web application consisting of information,motivation,and behavioral skills(diet,exercise,and medication use),the control group received the usual care.HbA1c and blood pressure measurements were collected at both baseline and at 12 weeks.Results:A total of 51 patients completed the study,the intervention group(n=26)and control group(n=25),respectively.After 12 weeks,23.1%of patients in the intervention group could maintain their HbA1c<7.0%;those with poorly controlled HbA1c decreased from 7.7%at baseline to 3.8%at 12 weeks.After 12 weeks,69.2%of intervention group participants could maintain systolic blood pressure<130 mmHg and 53.8%could keep diastolic blood pressure<80 mmHg.Analysis revealed that HbA1c,systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels in the intervention group were lower than the control group after the intervention(P<0.05).There was a statistically significantdifference a linear combination of HbA1c and blood pressure(systolic and diastolic BP levels)between time and group(P<0.05).Conclusion:These results suggest that healthcare providers can incorporate elements of this program to manage blood glucose and blood pressure effectively.Future studies should consider a longitudinal design with a larger sample size and include outcomes of lipid levels to confirmlong-term motivation. 展开更多

Foreign body reactions to the wear debris and corrosion products from the implants,and bacterial infections are the main factors leading to the implant failures.In order to resolve these problems,the antibacterial TiN/Cu nanocomposite coatings with various N_(2) partial pressures were deposited on 304 stainless steels(SS)using an arc ion plating(AIP)system,named TiN/Cu-x(x=0.5,1.0,1.5 Pa).The results of X-ray diffraction analysis,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,and scanning electron microscopy showed that the N_(2) partial pressures determined the Cu contents,surface defects,and crystallite sizes of TiN/Cu nanocomposite coatings,which further influenced the comprehensive abilities.And the hardness and wear resistances of TiN/Cu coatings were enhanced with increase of the crystallite sizes.Under the co-actions of surface defects,crystallite sizes,and Cu content,TiN/Cu-1.0 and TiN/Cu-1.5 coatings possessed excellent corrosion resistance.Besides,the biological tests proved that all the TiN/Cu coatings showed no cytotoxicity with strong antibacterial ability.Among them,TiN/Cu-1.5 coating significantly promoted the cell proliferation,which is expected to be a novel antibacterial,corrosion-resistant,and wear-resistant coating on the surfaces of medical implants. 展开更多

Study practice has proved that the ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks iu Dabieshan must have exPerienced botk the retrograde metumorphism and partial melting under decompression and amphibolite-facies conditions during their exhumation from mantel depth to lower-middle crust.The retrometamorphism and partial melting of the ultrahigh pressure rocks in association with thermal state changing in the middle-lower crust, under amphibolite-facies conditions, are important physical and chemical processes. It would result in a great detrease in the integrated yield strength, and the enhancement of the de formabilitY or the rocks, promoting the transition from contractional (collision) to extensional defoemational regime. The statement of tbe retrometamorphism and partial melting of the ultrahigh pressure rocks has proved the in-site model for the ultrahigh pressure rocks in Dabieshan. It not only clarifies the evolutiou from the UHP eclogite to the surrounding gneissic rock (so called UHP gueiss) and to the garnet-beariug roliated granites (non-UHP country rocks), but also provides scientific arguments for the establiskment of the dynamic model of the exhumation of UHP metamorphic rocks in Dabiesban. In general, Purely conductive heat transfer from the crust itself is probably insurficient to produce temperature conditions for partial melting, and additional heat sources must have been present during partial melting. We infer that the partial melting and extensional flow are probably driveu by delamination and magmatic underplating of thickeued lithospkeric mantle following the continental oblique collision. 展开更多

The effect of oxygen partial pressure (Po2) during the channel layer deposition on bias stability of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide (a-IGZO) thin film transistors (TFTs) is investigated. As Po2 increases from 10% to 30%, it is found that the device shows enhanced bias stress stability with significantly reduced threshold voltage drift under positive gate bias stress. Based on the x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurement, the concentration of oxygen vacancies (Or) within the a-IGZO layer is suppressed by increasing Po2. Meanwhile, the low-frequency noise analysis indicates that the average trap density near the channel/dielectric interface continuously drops with increasing Po2. Therefore, the improved interface quality with increasing Po2 during the channel layer deposition can be attributed to the reduction of interface Ov-related defects, which agrees with the enhanced bias stress stability of the a-IGZO TFTs. 展开更多

The rising flexible and intelligent electronics greatly facilitate the noninvasive and timely tracking of physiological information in telemedicine healthcare.Meticulously building bionic-sensitive moieties is vital for designing efficient electronic skin with advanced cognitive functionalities to pluralistically capture external stimuli.However,realistic mimesis,both in the skin’s three-dimensional interlocked hierarchical structures and synchronous encoding multistimuli information capacities,remains a challenging yet vital need for simplifying the design of flexible logic circuits.Herein,we construct an artificial epidermal device by in situ growing Cu_(3)(HHTP)_(2) particles onto the hollow spherical Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) surface,aiming to concurrently emulate the spinous and granular layers of the skin’s epidermis.The bionic Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@Cu_(3)(HHTP)_(2) exhibits independent NO_(2) and pressure response,as well as novel functionalities such as acoustic signature perception and Morse code-encrypted message communication.Ultimately,a wearable alarming system with a mobile application terminal is self-developed by integrating the bimodular senor into flexible printed circuits.This system can assess risk factors related with asthmatic,such as stimulation of external NO_(2) gas,abnormal expiratory behavior and exertion degrees of fingers,achieving a recognition accuracy of 97.6%as assisted by a machine learning algorithm.Our work provides a feasible routine to develop intelligent multifunctional healthcare equipment for burgeoning transformative telemedicine diagnosis. 展开更多

Ultrahigh-pressure(UHP) metamorphic rocks are distinctive products of crustal deep subduction,and are mainly exposed in continental subduction-collision terranes. UHP slices of continental crust are usually involved in multistage exhumation and partial melting, which has obvious influence on the rheological features of the rocks, and thus significantly affect the dynamic behavior of subducted slices. Moreover,partial melting of UHP rocks have significant influence on element mobility and related isotope behavior within continental subduction zones, which is in turn crucial to chemical differentiation of the continental crust and to crust-mantle interaction.Partial melting can occur before, during or after the peak metamorphism of UHP rocks. Post-peak decompression melting has been better constrained by remelting experiments; however, because of multiple stages of decompression, retrogression and deformation, evidence of former melts in UHP rocks is often erased. Field evidence is among the most reliable criteria to infer partial melting. Glass and nanogranitoid inclusions are generally considered conclusive petrographic evidence. The residual assemblages after melt extraction are also significant to indicate partial melting in some cases. Besides field and petrographic evidence, bulk-rock and zircon trace-element geochemical features are also effective tools for recognizing partial melting of UHP rocks. Phase equilibrium modeling is an important petrological tool that is becoming more and more popular in P-T estimation of the evolution of metamorphic rocks; by taking into account the activity model of silicate melt, it can predict when partial melting occurred if the P-T path of a given rock is provided.UHP silicate melt is commonly leucogranitic and peraluminous in composition with high SiO_2,low MgO, FeO, MnO, TiO_2 and CaO, and variable K_2 O and Na_2 O contents. Mineralogy of nanogranites found in UHP rocks mainly consists of plagioclase + K-feldspar + quartz, plagioclase being commonly albite-rich.Trace element pattern of the melt is characterized by significant enrichment of large ion lithophile elements(LILE), depletion of heavy rare earth elements(HREE) and high field strength elements(HFSE),indicating garnet and rutile stability in the residual assemblage. In eclogites, significant Mg-isotope fractionation occurs between garnet and phengite; therefore, Mg isotopes may become an effective indicator for partial melting of eclogites. 展开更多

The effects of reactive gas partial pressure on droplet formation, deposition rate and change of preferred orientation of CrN and Cr2O3 coatings were studied. For CrN coatings, as nitrogen partial pressure increases, the number and size of droplets increases, the deposition rate initially increases obviously and then slowly, and the preferred orientation of CrN changes from high-index plane to low-index one. For Cr2O3 coatings, with the increase of oxygen partial pressure, the number and size of droplets decreases, the deposition rate decreases and the (300) becomes the preferred orientation. These differences are ascribed to the formation of CrN (with a lower melting point) and Cr2O3 (with a higher melting point) on the surface of Cr target during the deposition of CrN and Cr2O3. Complete coatings CrN or Cr2O3 film can be formed when reactive gas partial pressure gets up to 0.1 Pa. The optimized N2 partial pressure for CrN deposition is about 0.1?0.2 Pa in order to suppress the formation of droplets and the suitable O2 partial pressure for Cr2O3 deposition is approximately 0.1 Pa for the attempt to prevent the peel of the coating. 展开更多

Vibration pore water pressure characteristics of saturated fine sand under partially drained condition were investigated through stress-controlled cyclic triaxial tests employed varied fine content of samples and loading frequency. In order to simulate the partially drained condition, one-way drainage for sample was implemented when cyclic loading was applied. The results show that the vibration pore water pressure's response leads the axial stress and axial strain responses, and is lagged behind or simultaneous with axial strain-rate's response for all samples in this research. In addition, the satisfactory linear relationship between vibration pore water pressure amplitude and axial strain-rate amplitude is also obtained. It means that the direct cause of vibration pore water pressure generation under partially drained conditions is not the axial stress or axial strain but the axial strain-rate. The lag-phase between pore water pressure and axial strain-rate increases with the increase of the fine content or the loading frequency. 展开更多

Copper nitride thin films were deposited on glass substrates by reactive direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering at various N2-gas partial pressures and room temperature. Xray diffraction measurements showed that the films were composed of Cu3N crystallites and exhibited a preferential orientation of the [111] direction at a low nitrogen gas (N2) partial pressure. The film growth preferred the [111] and the [100] direction at a high N2 partial pressure. Such preferential film growth is interpreted as being due to the variation in the Copper (Cu) nitrification rate with the N2 pressure. The N2 partial pressure affects not only the crystal structure of the film but also the deposition rate and the resistivity of the Cu3N film. In our experiment, the deposition rate of Cu3N films was 18 nm/min to 30 nm/min and increased with the N2 partial pressure. The resistivity of the Cu3N films increased sharply with the increasing N2 partial pressure. At a low N2 partial pressure, the Cu3N films showed a metallic conduction mechanism through the Cu path, and at a high N2 partial pressure, the conductivity of the Cu3N films showed a semiconductor conduction mechanism. 展开更多

The structural phase transition of MnO_(2) nanorods was investigated using in situ high pressure synchrotron x-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). At pressures exceeding 10.9 GPa, a second-order structural phase transition from tetragonal to orthogonal, which was accompanied by fine-scale crystal twinning phenomena, was observed in MnO_(2) nanorods. On account of the significant contribution of surface energy, the phase transition pressure exhibited appreciable hysteresis compared with the bulk counterparts, suggesting the enhanced structural stability of nanorod morphology. These findings reveal that the size and morphology exhibit a manifest correlation with the high pressure behavior of MnO_(2) nanomaterials, providing useful insights into the intricate interplay between structure and properties. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Negative pressure wound therapy(NPWT)is a potential treatment for diabetic foot ulcers(DFUs),although the mechanisms underlying its effectiveness remain unclear.This study posits that NPWT may improve wound healing by promoting angiogenesis and activating the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/Kelch-like epichlorohydrin-associated protein 1(Keap1)signaling pathway,which is crucial for the body’s defense against oxidative stress.The hypothesis indicates that enhancing antioxidant defenses through NPWT may positively affect the healing process.There are still limited data on the roles of Nrf2,its downstream signaling molecules,and angiogenesis markers in patients undergoing NPWT.AIM To study the mechanism of NPWT in DFUs.METHODS This study included a total of 40 hospitalized patients with DFUs from Xuzhou Central Hospital,who were divided into Control group(n=21)and NPWT group(n=19).The levels of Nrf2 and Keap1 were analyzed in the granulation tissue 7 days after treatment.The wound condition,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),procalcitonin(PCT),interleukin 6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),basic fibroblast growth factor(b-FGF),cluster of differentiation 31(CD31),and levels of oxidative stress[malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)]were analyzed before and 7 days after treatment by the Mann-Whitney U test.RESULTS The NPWT group demonstrated significant improvements in wound healing compared to the control group after 7 days of treatment.The levels of ESR,PCT,IL-6,and TNF-αwere significantly reduced in the NPWT group compared to the control group(P<0.05),while the levels of CD31,VEGF,and b-FGF showed significant increases(P<0.05).The NPWT group exhibited notable elevations in the levels of Nrf2 and its downstream targets(SOD,CAT,and T-AOC),accompanied by decreases in the levels of Keap1 and MDA(P<0.05).CONCLUSION NPWT may contribute to the healing of DFUs by potentially reducing levels of oxidative stress.Its effects could possibly be enhanced through the action of Nrf2. 展开更多
