Here we investigated the potential oxidation and adsorption pathways of Sb(Ⅲ and V) species in the presence of Mn(Ⅱ) and Mn-oxidizing bacteria, with or without Fe(Ⅱ). Batch experiments were conducted to determine the oxidation and adsorption characteristics of Sb species in the presence of biogenic Mn oxides(BMOs), which were formed in-situ via the oxidation of Mn(Ⅱ) by a Mn-oxidizing bacterium(Pseudomonas sp. QJX-1). Results indicated that Sb(Ⅲ) ions could be oxidized to Sb(V) ions by BMO, but only Sb(V) originating from Sb(Ⅲ) oxidation was adsorbed effectively by BMO. Introduced Fe(Ⅱ) was chemically oxidized to Fe OOH, the precipitates of which mixed with BMO to form a new compound, biogenic Fe–Mn oxides(BFMO). The BMO part of the BFMO mainly oxidized and the Fe OOH of the BFMO mainly adsorbed the Sb species. In aquatic solutions containing both As(Ⅲ) and Sb(Ⅲ), the BFMO that formed in-situ preferentially oxidized Sb over As but adsorbed As more efficiently. Chemical analysis and reverse transcription real-time polymerase chain reaction revealed that the presence of Fe(Ⅱ), As(Ⅲ) and Sb(Ⅲ) accelerated the oxidation of Mn(Ⅱ) but inhibited the activity of Mn-oxidizing bacteria. These results provide significant insights into the biogeochemical pathways of Sb, Mn(Ⅱ) in aquatic ecosystems, with or without Fe(Ⅱ).展开更多

We observed a change in the efficiency of the oxidation process as we replaced the conventionally used sodium nitrate with that of nickel nitrate Ni(NO_3)_2, cadmium nitrate Cd(NO_3)_2,and zinc nitrate Zn(NO_3)_2. The structural properties were investigated by x-ray diffraction and observed the successful formation of composite of MO–GO and MO–RGO(M = Zn, Cd, Ni). We sought to study the effect on the oxidation process through optical characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy. Moreover, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis(TGA) was carried out to confirm 〉 90% weight loss in each process thus proving the reliability of the oxidation cycles. We have found that the nature of the oxidation process of graphite powder and its optical and electrochemical characteristics can be tuned by replacing the sodium nitrate(NaNO_3) by other metallic nitrates as Cd(NO_3)_2, Ni(NO_3)_2, and Zn(NO_3)_2. The unique storage properties of ceria (CeO2) makes it one of the most efficient catalysts available to date. Here, we proposed that ceria-based catalysts can lower the temperature at which soot combustion occurs; more specifically, from 610℃ to values included in the diesel exhausts operation range (300-450℃). The sol-gel method was used to synthesize mixed oxide-based catalysts (CeO2:ZnO); the resulting catalysts were deposited onto cordierite substrates. In addition, the morphological and structural properties of the material were evaluated by XRD, BET, TPR-H2, and SEM. Thermogravimetric (TG/DTA) analysis revealed that the presence of the catalyst decreased the soot combustion temperature by 200℃ on average, indicating that the oxygen species arise at low temperatures in this situation, promoting highly reactive oxidation reactions. Comparative analysis of soot emission by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) showed that catalyst-impregnated cordierite samples efficiently oxidized soot in a diesel/biodiesel stationary motor: soot emission decreased by more than 70%.展开更多

XRD and TEM results showed that cubic CeO_2 and amorphous MnO_x existed in MnO_x-CeO_2 catalysts. High temperature calcination caused the sintering of amorphous MnO_x and transforming to bulk crystalline Mn_2O_3, H_2-TPR and XPS results suggested the valence of Mn in MnO_x-CeO_2 was higher than pure MnO_x, and decreased with the increasing calcination temperature, The turnover frequency(TOF) was calculated based on the initial reducibility according to H_2-TPR quantitation and kinetic study. The TOF results indicated that the initial reducibility of amorphous MnO_x with high valence manganese ions was equivalent to the active sites for NO oxidation. It can be inferred that the amorphous MnO_x plays a key role in low-temperature NO oxidation.展开更多

METHODS: Forty-two primary hyperlipidemia patients were randomly divided into two groups of 21 and treated with moxibustion at different temperatures. Moxibustion was performed with the moxa roll 2.5-3.0 cm from the skin in the treatment group and 4 cm in the control group, 10 min per point, once every other day. Skin temperature was precisely measured with a thermometer during moxibustion. After a 12-week treatment, seven measurements of blood lipids, ET-1, and NO were recorded. RESULTS: Total cholesterol and triglyceride, were lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05). Serum ET-1 and ET-1/NO was obvi-ously lowered in the treatment group(P0.001). Moxibustion regulated NO and ET-1/NO in the treatment group much better than in the control group. CONCLUSION: Moxibustion can regulate blood lipids and clear blood vessels. Moxibustion at 45℃has a better effect than moxibustion at 38℃ on regulating blood lipids and protecting vascular endothelial function, indicating that suitable temperature influences the curative effect of moxibustion.展开更多

Compared with the control treatment(without fertilization, designated as CK), remarkable pulse emissions of N_2O, NO and NH_3 were observed from the normal fertilization treatment(designated as NP) just after fertilization, whereas only N_2O and NH_3 pulse emissions were evident from the nitrification inhibitor treatment(designated as ND). The reduction proportions of N_2O and NO emissions from the ND treatment compared to those from the NP treatment during the whole maize growing period were 31% and 100%, respectively. A measurable increase of NH_3 emission from the ND treatment was found with a cumulative NH_3 emission of 3.8 ± 1.2 kg N/ha,which was 1.4 times greater than that from the NP treatment(2.7 ± 0.7 kg N/ha).展开更多

The selective chemical extraction followed by the adsorption of Pb and Cd experiments and statistical analysis, were used to investigate the adsorption property of each component. Hydroxylamine hydrochloride was used to remove manganese oxides selectively, and sodium dithionite was used to extract iron oxides and manganese oxides. The result indicated that iron oxides and manganese oxides played an important role in the adsorption of Pb and Cd on NSCsNS, and the relative contribution was about two-thirds. The contribution of manganese oxides was the greatest, with a lesser role indicated for other components. The adsorption ability of manganese oxides for Pb and Cd was greater than that of iron oxides or other components for Pb and Cd. The Pb adsorption observed in each component was greater than Cd adsorption.展开更多

A new technology for photocatalytic oxidation of NO using ultraviolet(UV)/TiO2/H2O2 process is studied in an efficient laboratory-scale reactor. Effects of several key operational parameters on NO removal efficiency are studied, including TiO2 content, H2O2 initial concentration, UV lamp power, NO initial content, oxygen volume fraction and TiO2/H2O2 solution volume. The results illustrate that the NO removal efficiency increases with the increasing of H2O2 initial concentration or UV lamp power. Meanwhile, a lower NO initial content or a higher TiO2/H2O2 solution volume will result in higher NO removal efficiency. In addition, oxygen volume fraction has a little effect. The highest NO removal efficiency is achieved at the TiO2 content of 0.75 g/L, H2O2 initial concentration of 2.5 mol/L, UV lamp power of 36 W, NO initial content of 206×10-6 and TiO2/H2O2 solution volume of 600 m L. It is beneficial for the development and application of NO removal from coal-fired flue gas with UV/TiO2/H2O2 process.展开更多

However, its thermal conductivity, one of the most important and fundamental physical properties, is still less known. Herein, we havesystematically investigated the thermal conductivity of bulk GOs and find that it can be tailored by tuningtheir oxidation degree during preparation process. Notably, the cross-plane thermal conductivity of bulkGO, in comparison with its precursor graphite, exhibits more than 100 times decrease at roomtemperature. The dependence of thermal conductivity of GO on oxidation degree is attributed to thechemical and structural changes by introducing oxygen atoms and oxygen-containing functional groups, which can lead to a significant enhancement in atomic- and nano-scale phonon scattering. Furthermore,we reveal that the thermal conductivity of bulk GOs exhibits evident anisotropic behavior. These resultsprovide fundamental understanding and valuable information on thermal transport properties of bulkGOs for various practical applications.展开更多

Comparative analysis of soot emission by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) showed that catalyst-impregnated cordierite samples efficiently oxidized soot in a diesel/biodiesel stationary motor: soot emission decreased by more than 70%.

文摘MnO_x-CeO_2 catalysts were synthesized to investigate the active sites for NO oxidation by varying the calcination temperature. It can be inferred that the amorphous MnO_x plays a key role in low-temperature NO oxidation.
文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the influence of moxibustion temperature on blood lipids, endothelin-1(ET-1), nitric oxide(NO), and ET-1/NO in hyperlipidemia patients. Moxibustion at 45℃has a better effect than moxibustion at 38℃ on regulating blood lipids and protecting vascular endothelial function, indicating that suitable temperature influences the curative effect of moxibustion.

文摘Nitrous oxide(N_2O), nitric oxide(NO) and ammonia(NH_3) emissions from an agricultural field in the North China Plain were compared for three treatments during a whole maize growing period from 26 June to 11 October, 2012. A measurable increase of NH_3 emission from the ND treatment was found with a cumulative NH_3 emission of 3.8 ± 1.2 kg N/ha,which was 1.4 times greater than that from the NP treatment(2.7 ± 0.7 kg N/ha).

文摘Natural surface coatings collected from natural substances (NSCsNS) were employed to study the roles of the main chemical components (iron oxides, manganese oxides, and other components) in controlling the adsorption of lead(Pb) and cadmium(Cd) in aquatic environments. The Pb adsorption observed in each component was greater than Cd adsorption.

文摘Nitric oxide(NO) from flue gas is hard to remove because of low solubility and reactivity. It is beneficial for the development and application of NO removal from coal-fired flue gas with UV/TiO2/H2O2 process.

文摘Iron oxide nanoparticles(FeOx NPs, 5–30 nm size) prepared via laser ablation in liquid were supported onto Indium Tin Oxide conductive glass slides by magnetophoretic deposition(MD) technique. The resulting Fe O x@ITO electrodes are characterized by a low amount of iron coverage of 16–50 nmol/cm^2,and show electrocatalytic activity towards water oxidation in neutral phosphate buffer pH 7 with 0.58 V overpotential and quantitative Faradaic efficiency towards oxygen production. XPS analysis on the oxygen region of the FeOx films reveals a substantial hydration of the surface after catalysis, recognized as a crucial step to access reactivity.

文摘The oxidation kinetics and composition of oxide scales on low carbon steel (SPHC) were studied during i- sothermal oxidation. Thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) was used to simulate isothermal oxidation process of SPHC for 240 min under air condition, and the temperature range was from 500 to 900 ℃. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to observe cross-sectional scale morphology and analyze composition distribution of oxide scales. The morphology of oxide scale was classical three-layer structure. Fe2 03 developed as whiskers at the outermost lay- er, and interlayer was perforated-plate Fe3 04 while innermost layer was pyramidal FeO. From the oxidation curves, the oxidation mass gain per unit area with time was of parabolic relation and oxidation rate slowed down. On the ba- sis of experimental data, the isothermal oxidation kinetics model was derived and oxidation activation energy of SPHC steel was 127. 416 kJ/mol calculated from kinetics data.

文摘The synthesis, crystal structure and electrical conductivity properties of Fe-doped ZnO powders(in the range of 0.25-15 mol%) were reported in this paper.I-phase samples, which were indexed as single phase with a hexagonal(wurtzite) structure in the Fe-doped ZnO binary system, were determined by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The solubility limit of Fe in the ZnO lattice is 3 mol% at 950℃.The above mixed phase was observed. And the impurity phase was determined as the cubic-ZnFe 2 O 4 phase when compared with standard XRD data using the PDF program. This study focused on single I-phase ZnO samples which were synthesized at 950℃ because the limit of the solubility range is the widest at this temperature. The lattice parameters a and c of the I-phase decreased with Fe-doping concentration. The morphology of the I-phase samples was analyzed with a scanning electron microscope. The grain size of the I-phase samples increased with heat treatment and doping concentration. The electrical conductivity of the pure ZnO and single I-phase samples was investigated using the four-probe dc method at 100-950℃ in air atmosphere. The electrical conductivity values of pure ZnO,0.25 and 3 mol% Fe-doped ZnO samples at 100℃ were 2×10-6,1.7×10-3 and 6.3×10-4 S.cm-1,and at 950℃ they were 3.4,8.5 and 4 S.cm-1,respectively.

文摘We have studied the genotoxic and apoptotic potential of ferric oxide nanoparticles(Fe_2O_3-NPs) in Raphanus sativus(radish).Fe_2O_3-NPs retarded the root length and seed germination in radish.Ultrathin sections of treated roots showed subcellular localization of Fe_2O_3-NPs,along with the appearance of damaged mitochondria and excessive vacuolization.Flow cytometric analysis of Fe_2O_3-NPs(1.0 mg/m L) treated groups exhibited 219.5%,161%,120.4% and 161.4% increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS),mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm),nitric oxide(NO) and Ca2+influx in radish protoplasts.A concentration dependent increase in the antioxidative enzymes glutathione(GSH),catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD) and lipid peroxidation(LPO) has been recorded.Comet assay showed a concentration dependent increase in deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) strand breaks in Fe_2O_3-NPs treated groups.Cell cycle analysis revealed 88.4% of cells in sub-G1 apoptotic phase, suggesting cell death in Fe_2O_3-NPs(2.0 mg/m L) treated group.Taking together, the genotoxicity induced by Fe_2O_3-NPs highlights the importance of environmental risk associated with improper disposal of nanoparticles(NPs) and radish can serve as a good indicator for measuring the phytotoxicity of NPs grown in NP-polluted environment.

文摘The effect of nitric oxide(NO) annealing on charge traps in the oxide insulator and transition layer in n-type4H–Si C metal–oxide–semiconductor(MOS) devices has been investigated using the time-dependent bias stress(TDBS),capacitance–voltage(C–V),and secondary ion mass spectroscopy(SIMS).It is revealed that two main categories of charge traps, near interface oxide traps(Nniot) and oxide traps(Not),have different responses to the TDBS and C–V characteristics in NO-annealed and Ar-annealed samples. The Nniotare mainly responsible for the hysteresis occurring in the bidirectional C–V characteristics, which are very close to the semiconductor interface and can readily exchange charges with the inner semiconductor. However,Not is mainly responsible for the TDBS induced C–V shifts.Electrons tunneling into the Not are hardly released quickly when suffering TDBS,resulting in the problem of the threshold voltage stability.Compared with the Ar-annealed sample,Nniotcan be significantly suppressed by the NO annealing, but there is little improvement of Not.SIMS results demonstrate that the Nniotare distributed within the transition layer, which correlated with the existence of the excess silicon.During the NO annealing process, the excess Si atoms incorporate into nitrogen in the transition layer, allowing better relaxation of the interface strain and effectively reducing the width of the transition layer and the density of Nniot.

文摘Oxide nanotubes with different diameters and lengths were fabricated on the biomedical Ti2448 alloy by anodic oxidation in neutral electrolyte. Similar to oxide nanotubes fabricated on pure titanium and its alloys, the as-grown nanotubes on Ti2448 also exhibit gradually changing chemical distribution along the direction of tube growth. Furthermore, several kinds of oxides with different valence states (MxOy) are formed simultaneously for each alloying element M, while their volume fractions vary gradually along the tube-growth direction. The findings of this study would provide insight into the effect of valence states on the desired nanotube properties and help develop ways to enhance the properties of the preferred oxide.

文摘Bulk graphene oxide (GO) shows great potential in a variety of applications, such as sensors, photodetectors, supercapacitors, lithium ion batteries and catalysts. These resultsprovide fundamental understanding and valuable information on thermal transport properties of bulkGOs for various practical applications.
