The main interest in the current study focuses on the possibility of overspeeding for the gas-generator cycle air turbo ramjet(GG-ATR)engine.The authors developed the air turbo ramjet engine and investigated its compressor performance.Based on those data,the authors developed the analytical code for the air turbo ramjet engine,which calculates the performances of turbomachinery,gas-generator,and ram combustor.The previous study described that the rotor overspeeding would not occur in the air turbo rocket engine.However,the current results show that degraded ram combustion can decrease the compressor pressure ratio and the compressor power.This reduced compressor power can cause overspeeding for the air turbo ramjet engine.The experimental results of compressor power and turbine inlet pressure support those analytical results. 展开更多

Experimental and numerical investigations were performed to reveal the effect of prestress on the fatigue properties of FGH4097 so as to quantitatively evaluate the overspeed benefit of the disc of aeroengine. A corresponding experiment was performed to examine the effect of prestress on the fatigue life of FGH97. A complete model describing the fatigue properties of the prestressed notch specimen was proposed. After the modification of mean stress, stress gradient and prestressing treatment, the model is finally verified by fatigue test of presstressed notch specimens machined from FGH4097 with satisfactory accuracy and good engineering applicability. The new model highlights that for the variable fatigue loads, the introduction of appropriate prestress is expected to benefit to the notch specimens and certainly to the disc of aeroengine regards of their fatigue properties. Both the calculation method of fatigue life parameters and the prestress correction model are proved to have good prediction accuracy. 展开更多

Hydraulic erecting systems are widely used in missile and rocket launchers because of their high power density.The double-acting telescopic hydraulic cylinder(DATHC)plays a decisive role in the safe and proper operation of such systems.In particular,improper design of effective areas of a DATHC could potentially lead to an overspeed descent with severe damage for the erecting system.Unfortunately,there is no design constraint for DATHC to prevent this.Therefore,in this paper,a simplified and practical design constraint is proposed.Based on a developed mathematical model of a typical erecting system,we simulated and analyzed not only six cases meeting and not meeting the design constraint,but also the effectiveness of the design constraint under different loads.Experiments were then carried out under four cases.Simulation and experimental results validate the simplified design constraint,a constraint inequation guiding the design of diameters of effective areas for a DATHC. 展开更多

In this study, we develop a new meta-heuristic-based approach to solve a multi-objective optimization problem, namely the reliability-redundancy allocation problem (RRAP). Further, we develop a new simulation process to generate practical tools for designing reliable series-parallel systems. Because the?RRAP is an NP-hard problem, conventional techniques or heuristics cannot be used to find the optimal solution. We propose a genetic algorithm (GA)-based hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm, namely the hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA), to find the optimal solution. A simulation process based on the HGA is developed to obtain different alternative solutions that are required to generate application tools for optimal design of reliable series-parallel systems. Finally, a practical case study regarding security control of a gas turbine in the overspeed state is presented to validate the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

Load disturbance may cause overspeed of the units and trigger the overspeed protection controller (OPC). Repeat- ing actions of valves have a strong impact on the security of the equipment and may result in a collapse of the power system. Based on the analysis of frequency regulation, mathematic models for nuclear units in the grid are established in this paper to simulate the dynamic process when load disturbance occurs. The critical action of the OPC is proposed as the constraint of safe operation for the units. The relationship between different styles of frequency regulation and the allowable capacity of the nuclear units in the grid is discussed. This research can help to estimate the capacity limitation of nuclear units in the grid. 展开更多
