Driven by both the“new engineering”initiative and the energy revolution,the traditional engineering education model can hardly meet the demand of the energy and electric power industry for diversified and interdisci...Driven by both the“new engineering”initiative and the energy revolution,the traditional engineering education model can hardly meet the demand of the energy and electric power industry for diversified and interdisciplinary outstanding engineers.Based on the“industry-university-research-application”four-in-one collaborative education concept,this paper constructs a new training system centered on classified cultivation and classified evaluation.The system aims to solve core problems such as homogeneous training,disconnection between industry and academia,single evaluation method,and insufficient faculty.Through measures including modular courses,the dual-tutor system,and diversified practical platforms,it realizes differentiated and precise talent training,so as to deliver outstanding engineers with the ability to“define problems,break through technologies,and create value”for the energy and electric power industry.展开更多
This study examined the interdisciplinary construction of integrated circuit science and engineering(ICsE)in China through a multi-case study of the 19 universities authorized to offer primary discipline degree progra...This study examined the interdisciplinary construction of integrated circuit science and engineering(ICsE)in China through a multi-case study of the 19 universities authorized to offer primary discipline degree programs.It investigated the overall objectives,teaching frameworks,and institutional mechanisms for independently cultivating outstanding engineers in the field of integrated circuit(IC).The results indicated that three key elements play a pivotal role in talent cultivation:(1)the objective of developing an integrated discipline to support collaborative innovation in the entire industrial chain,(2)the integrated teaching process combining action learning with authentic learning,and(3)the synergistic institutional innovation and innovative science-industry-education integration ecosystem.This study proposed that to improve the quality of independent talent cultivation in key and core technologies,it is urgent to reconstruct an integrated engineering curriculum system,embed authentic engineering learning environments,and build a talent cultivation ecosystem spanning the entire industrial chain.展开更多
Purpose:This study investigates the role of the engineering education environment created by the implementation of the“Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers”(PETOE)on the professional capability deve...Purpose:This study investigates the role of the engineering education environment created by the implementation of the“Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers”(PETOE)on the professional capability development of engineering students from the perspective of students'experience.Design/Approach/Methods:This study uses data from the National Engineering Student Survey and multiple regression analysis to explore the role of institutional resources and support,teaching reforms,and interpersonal interaction on the professional development of engineering students.Findings:The opportunities for on-campus practical activities provided by the institution,content of the teachers'teaching,teaching methods,comprehensive coursework assessment,and interpersonal interactions contributed to the development of students'engineering competencies,with limited contributions from research-based teaching methods.Internship opportunities and international exchange environments were negatively associated with the development of engineering skills in an“unexpected”manner.OriginalityNalue:Focusing on students'experiences of engineering education reform,this study comprehensively evaluates the implementation of the reform measures adopted under PETOE.Furthermore,it assesses how corresponding changes in the general educational environment relate to students’professional capability development.Thus,this study addresses an important research gap in educational reformthe lack of domestic empirical studies in China.展开更多

In the training process, not only it is required to complete the training and improvement of the theoretical knowledge, the practical abilities and the engineering qualities in the colleges, but it also needs the active participation and the close cooperation of the enterprises. Therefore, the students will have the influence of the effects and edification from the university culture, the project culture and the enterprise culture, and will feel the power and benefits a variety of cultures bring about by interleaving. This paper expounds the important position and the function of the university culture, the project culture, and the enterprise culture in the personal training, and elucidates that the complete fusion of the three is the social ideal and support to complete the task of cultivating the outstanding engineers.展开更多
