GNSS time series analysis of the crustal movement network of China:Detecting the optimal order of the polynomial term and its effect on the deterministic model

GNSS time series analysis provides an effective method for research on the earth's surface deformation,and it can be divided into two parts,deterministic models and stochastic models.The former part can be achieved by several parameters,such as polynomial terms,periodic terms,offsets,and post-seismic models.The latter contains some stochastic noises,which can be affected by detecting the former parameters.If there are not enough parameters assumed,modeling errors will occur and adversely affect the analysis results.In this study,we propose a processing strategy in which the commonly-used 1-order of the polynomial term can be replaced with different orders for better fitting GNSS time series of the Crustal Movement Network of China(CMONOC)stations.Initially,we use the Bayesian Information Criterion(BIC)to identify the best order within the range of 1-4 during the fitting process using the white noise plus power-law noise(WN+PL)model.Then,we compare the 1-order and the optimal order on the effect of deterministic models in GNSS time series,including the velocity and its uncertainty,amplitudes,and initial phases of the annual signals.The results indicate that the first-order polynomial in the GNSS time series is not the primary factor.The root mean square(RMS)reduction rates of almost all station components are positive,which means the new fitting of optimal-order polynomial helps to reduce the RMS of residual series.Most stations maintain the velocity difference(VD)within ±1 mm/yr,with percentages of 85.6%,81.9%and 63.4%in the North,East,and Up components,respectively.As for annual signals,the numbers of amplitude difference(AD)remained at ±0.2 mm are 242,239,and 200 in three components,accounting for 99.6%,98.4%,and 82.3%,respectively.This finding reminds us that the detection of the optimal-order polynomial is necessary when we aim to acquire an accurate understanding of the crustal movement features. 展开更多

Combining the finite element model and optimization technology, the dimension optimization aiming at obtaining the minimum loading force and the optimum sealing performance was designed by the zero order optimization method. Experiments of the optimized connector were carried out. The results indicate that the optimum structural design significantly improved the indicators of the minimum loading force and sealing performance of the connector. 展开更多

This paper aims to study the optimal control and algorithm implementation of a generalized epidemic model governed by reaction-diffusion equations.Considering individual mobility,this paper first proposes a reaction-diffusion epidemic model with two strains.Furthermore,applying vaccines as a control strategy in the model,an optimal control problem is proposed to increase the number of healthy individuals while reducing control costs.By applying the truncation function technique and the operator semigroup methods,we prove the existence and uniqueness of a globally positive strong solution for the control model.The existence of the optimal control strategy is proven by using functional analysis theory and minimum sequence methods.The first-order necessary condition satisfied by the optimal control is established by employing the dual techniques.Finally,a specific example and its algorithm are provided. 展开更多

Based on the newly-developed element energy projection (EEP) method with optimal super-convergence order for computation of super-convergent results, an improved self-adaptive strategy for one-dimensional finite element method (FEM) is proposed. In the strategy, a posteriori errors are estimated by comparing FEM solutions to EEP super-convergent solutions with optimal order of super-convergence, meshes are refined by using the error-averaging method. Quasi-FEM solutions are used to replace the true FEM solutions in the adaptive process. This strategy has been found to be simple, clear, efficient and reliable. For most problems, only one adaptive step is needed to produce the required FEM solutions which pointwise satisfy the user specified error tolerances in the max-norm. Taking the elliptical ordinary differential equation of the second order as the model problem, this paper describes the fundamental idea, implementation strategy and computational algorithm and representative numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Three-phase induction motors are becoming increasingly utilized in industrialfield due to their better efficiency and simple manufacture.The speed control of an induction motor is essential in a variety of applications,but it is dif-ficult to control.This research analyses the three-phase induction motor’s perfor-mance usingfield-oriented control(FOC)and direct torque control(DTC)techniques.The major aim of this work is to provide a critical evaluation of devel-oping a simple speed controller for induction motors with improving the perfor-mance of Induction Motor(IM).For controlling a motor,different optimization approaches are accessible;in this research,a Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC)with Fractional Order Darwinian Particle Swarm Optimization(FODPSO)algorithm is presented to control the induction motor.The FOC and DTC are controlled using FODPSO,and their performance is compared to the traditional FOC and DTC technique.Each scheme had its own simulation model,and the results were com-pared using hardware experimental and MATLAB-Simulink.In terms of time domain specifications and torque improvement,the proposed technique surpasses the existing method. 展开更多

Some techniques, such as the calculus of variations, energy analysis method, commutativity of the products of difference operators, decomposition of high-order difference operators and the theory of a priori estimates are introduced and an optimal order error estimates in l^2 norm is derived. This method has been applied successfully to the numerical simulation of enhanced oil production in actual oilfields, and the simulation results ate quite interesting and satisfactory. 展开更多

In market, excess demands for many products can be met by reorder even during one period, and retailers usually adopt substitution strategy for more benefit. Under the retailer's substitution strategy and permission of reorder, we develop the profits maximization model for the two-substitutable-product inventory problem with stochastic demands and proportional costs and revenues. We show that the objective function is concave and submodular, and therefore the optimal policy exists. We present the optimal conditions for order quantity and provide some properties of the optimal order quantities. Comparing our model with Netessine and Rudi's, we prove that reorder and adoption of the substitution strategy can raise the general profits and adjust down the general stock level. 展开更多

In this paper, we present two semi-implicit-type second-order compact approximate Tay-lor(CAT2) numerical schemes and blend them with a local a posteriori multi-dimensionaloptimal order detection (MOOD) paradigm to solve hyperbolic systems of balance lawswith relaxed source terms. The resulting scheme presents the high accuracy when applied tosmooth solutions, essentially non-oscillatory behavior for irregular ones, and offers a nearlyfail-safe property in terms of ensuring the positivity. The numerical results obtained from avariety of test cases, including smooth and non-smooth well-prepared and unprepared initialconditions, assessing the appropriate behavior of the semi-implicit-type second order CAT-MOODschemes. These results have been compared in the accuracy and the efficiency witha second-order semi-implicit Runge-Kutta (RK) method. 展开更多

In the process of large-scale,grid-connected wind power operations,it is important to establish an accurate probability distribution model for wind farm fluctuations.In this study,a wind power fluctuation modeling method is proposed based on the method of moving average and adaptive nonparametric kernel density estimation(NPKDE)method.Firstly,the method of moving average is used to reduce the fluctuation of the sampling wind power component,and the probability characteristics of the modeling are then determined based on the NPKDE.Secondly,the model is improved adaptively,and is then solved by using constraint-order optimization.The simulation results show that this method has a better accuracy and applicability compared with the modeling method based on traditional parameter estimation,and solves the local adaptation problem of traditional NPKDE. 展开更多

The optimal order error estimates for the approximation of both the velocity and the pressure in L2-norm are established, as well as one in broken H1-norm for the velocity. The partial orders for the objective and the constraints are induced by closed and convex cones with nonempty interior. After presenting some well known existence results for these problems, based on a scalarization approach, we establish necessity of the optimality conditions under a Slater-like constraint qualification, and then sufficiency for the K-convex case. We present two alternative sets of optimality conditions, with the same properties in connection with necessity and sufficiency, but which are different with respect to the dimension of the spaces to which the dual multipliers belong. We introduce a duality scheme, with a point-to-set dual objective, for which strong duality holds. Some examples and open problems for future research are also presented. 展开更多

A novel rule-based model for multi-stage multi-product scheduling problem(MMSP)in batch plants with parallel units is proposed.The scheduling problem is decomposed into two sub-problems of order assignment and order sequencing.Firstly,hierarchical scheduling strategy is presented for solving the former sub-problem,where the multi-stage multi-product batch process is divided into multiple sequentially connected single process stages,and then the production of orders are arranged in each single stage by using forward order assignment strategy and backward order assignment strategy respectively according to the feature of scheduling objective.Line-up competition algorithm(LCA)is presented to find out optimal order sequence and order assignment rule,which can minimize total flow time or maximize total weighted process time.Computational results show that the proposed approach can obtain better solutions than those of the literature for all scheduling problems with more than 10 orders.Moreover,with the problem size increasing,the solutions obtained by the proposed approach are improved remarkably.The proposed approach has the potential to solve large size MMSP. 展开更多

With the help of theoretical techniques including the change of regions, piecewise threefold quadratic interpolation, calculus of variations, multiplicative commutation rule of differ- ence operators, multiplicative commutation rule of difference operators, decomposition of high order difference operators, induction hypothesis, and prior estimates, an optimal order in 12 norm is displayed to complete the convergence analysis of the numerical algo- rithm.
