Whereas previous studies only focus on the balance of number of kinds of items between different zones but not the number of items and the idle time in each zone. In this paper, an idle factor is proposed to measure the idle time exactly. The idle factor is proven to obey the same vary trend with the idle time, so the object of this problem can be simplified from minimizing idle time to minimizing idle factor. Based on this, the model of item assignment problem in synchronized zone automated order picking system is built. The model is a form of relaxation of parallel machine scheduling problem which had been proven to be NP-complete. To solve the model, a taboo search algorithm is proposed. The main idea of the algorithm is minimizing the greatest idle factor of zones with the 2-exchange algorithm. Finally, the simulation which applies the data collected from a tobacco distribution center is conducted to evaluate the performance of the algorithm. The result verifies the model and shows the algorithm can do a steady work to reduce idle time and the idle time can be reduced by 45.63% on average. This research proposed an approach to measure the idle time in synchronized zone automated order picking system. The approach can improve the picking efficiency significantly and can be seen as theoretical basis when optimizing the synchronized automated order picking systems.展开更多

Prepeak is observed in the structure factor S(Q), which is considered as the signature of MRO. Results from MD simulation and experiment agree well with each other, which proves reliability of the simulation. It is found from the calculated Ashcroft-Langreth structure factors that there exists strong interactional force between atom Al and Fe, which results in the great concentration fluctuation, i.e. the chemical order, in the liquid Al 5Fe 2. Both the chemical order parameter, α , and the Bhatis-Thornton(BT)structure factors indicate the preference for unlike-neighbor bonds. It is seen from the low-Q domain of S(Q) and the concentration-concentration structure factor S CC(Q) that the prepeak mainly comes from the first peak of S CC(Q). The structural model, which reflects the characteristic of MRO, is also constructed .展开更多

That is, the second law of thermodynamics formulated for isolated systems continues to govern such systems. We have shown that in order to achieve a stationary state at lower values of temperature and entropy far from thermodynamic equilibrium at a maximum of temperature and entropy, it is necessary to have regular factors of nonrandom nature, one of which in this example is the rotation of the planet around its own axis. This means that the reason for the appearance of ordered structured objects in non-isolated thermodynamic systems is not the random process itself, but the action of dynamic control mechanisms, such as periodic external influences, nonlinear elements with positive feedback, catalysts for chemical reactions, etc. We present the plots with dependences of temperature and entropy versus time in non-isolated systems with purely random processes and in the presence of a control factor of non-random nature-rotation.展开更多

Based on the numerical results, the effect of non-Newtonian coefficient Hc and other parameters on the flow are analysed. It is shown that the annular flow has a shorter characteristic time than the general pipe flow while the correspondent velocity, average velocity have a ... nailer value for a given Hc. Else, when radii ratio keeps unchanged, the shear stress of inner wall of annular flow will change with the inner radius -compared with the general pipe flow and is always smaller than that of the outer wall.展开更多

The location of PSS is determined by identifying the critical modes and their corresponding first and second order eigenvalue sensitivities. In this formulation, sensitivity analysis of a particular mode can be performed with only its eigenvalues and their left and right eigenvectors. The simplicity and efficiency of this approach sharply contrast to the complexity of the traditional approach, where all eigenvalues and eigenvectors are required at the same time. The effectiveness of this method in selecting the optimum location for placement of PSSs is compared with the participation factor method. The proposed sensitivity theory used to identify the best PSS location in a five machine, eight bus El-Metwally and Malik System to increase the damping of both local and inter area modes for various operating conditions.展开更多

The paper has selected several example problems from the fracture mechanics literature(with available analytical solutions) including center slant crack in an infinite and finite body, single and double edge cracks, cracks emanating from a circular hole. The numerical values of Mode Ⅰ and Mode Ⅱ SIFs for these problems using HODDM are in excellent agreement with analytical results(reaching up to 0.001% deviation from their analytical results). The HODDM is also compared with the XFEM and a modified XFEM results. The results show that the HODDM needs a considerably lower computational effort(with less than 400 nodes) than the XFEM and the modified XFEM(which needs more than 10000 nodes) to reach a much higher accuracy. The proposed HODDM offers higher accuracy and lower computation effort for a wide range of problems in LEFM.展开更多
