In applying the strategy, the MDO process is divided into two levels, i.e. system level optimization and subsystem level optimization. The system level optimization is to achieve optimized system objective (or multi-objective) through the adjustment of global external configuration design variables. The subsystem level optimization consists of the aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design and the structural optimization. The aerodynamic/stealthy integrated design aims at achieving the minimum aerodynamic drag coefficient under the constraint of stealthy requirement through the adjustment of local external configuration design variables. The structural optimization is to minimize the structural weight by adjusting the dimefisions of structural components. A flowchart to implement this strategy is presented. The MDO for a flying-wing configuration of UCAV is employed to illustrate the detailed process of the optimization. The results indicate that the overall process of the surrogate-based two-level optimization strategy can be implemented automatically, and quite reasonable results are obtained.展开更多

Firstly, the supporting function of a complex structural part is built to map the force transmission, where the force exerted areas and constraints are considered as connecting structure and the structural configuration, to determine the part performance as well as the force routines. Then the connecting structure design model, aiming to optimize the static and dynamic performances on connection configuration, is developed, and the optimum design of the characteristic parameters is carried out by means of the collaborative optimization method, namely, the integrated structural topology optimization and size optimization. In this design model, the objective is to maximize the connecting stiffness. Based on the relationship between the force and the structural configuration of a part, the optimal force transmission routine that can meet the performance requirements is obtained using the structural topology optimization technology. Accordingly, the light?weight design of conceptual configuration for complex parts under multi?objective and multi?condition can be realized. Finally, based on the proposed collaborative optimization design method, the optimal performance and optimal structure of the complex parts with light weight are realized, and the reasonable structural unit configuration and size charac?teristic parameters are obtained. A bed structure of gantry?type machining center is designed by using the proposed light?weight structure design method in this paper, as an illustrative example. The bed after the design optimization is lighter 8% than original one, and the rail deformation is reduced by 5%. Moreover, the lightweight design of the bed is achieved with enhanced performance to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

SVM, which is rooted in statistical learning theory and an approximate implementation of the method of structural risk minimization, can provide a good generalization performance in metamodeling the input-output relationship of real problems and consequently cuts down on high time cost in the analysis of real problems, such as FEM analysis. The GA, as a powerful optimization technique, possesses remarkable advantages for the problems that can hardly be optimized with common gradient-based optimization methods, which makes it suitable for optimizing models built by SVM. Based on the SVM-GA strategy, optimization of structural scantlings in the midship of a very large crude carrier (VLCC) ship was carried out according to the direct strength assessment method in common structural rules (CSR), which eventually demonstrates the high efficiency of SVM-GA in optimizing the ship structural scantlings under heavy computational complexity. The time cost of this optimization with SVM-GA has been sharply reduced, many more loops have been processed within a small amount of time and the design has been improved remarkably.展开更多

文摘Double-shaft-driven needle punching machine is a specialized equipment designed for processing C/C crucible preforms. Its main needle punching module is operated by two sets of reciprocating crank-slider mechanisms. The intense vibration during needle punching not only generates huge noise, but also substantially reduces the quality of the preform. It is imperative to perform a dynamic analysis and optimization of the entire needle punching machine. In this paper, the three-dimensional(3D)model of the entire double-shaft-driven needle punching machine for C/C crucible preforms is established.Based on the modal analysis theory, the modal characteristics of the needle punching machine under various operating conditions are analyzed and its natural frequencies and vibration modes are determined. The harmonic response analysis is then employed to obtain the amplitude of the needle plate at different frequencies, and the structural weak points of the needle punching machine are identified and improved. The feasibility of the optimized scheme is subsequently reevaluated and verified. The results indicate that the first six natural frequencies of the machine increase, and the maximum amplitude of the needle plate decreases by 70.3%.The enhanced dynamic characteristics of the machine significantly improve its performance, enabling more efficient needle punching of C/C crucible preforms.

文摘The flow ripple caused by an axial piston pump may lead to pipe vibrations and lower hydraulic component reliability, which are of particular concern in hydraulic systems. The valve plate of the pump is considered the part most related to flow ripple, and its structural design is an important topic. In this study,an analytical model for the axial piston pump flow ripple was established and verified using a numerical analysis with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)calculations. Moreover,a parametric analysis of the valve plate was performed to investigate the critical parameters and their ranges.A fast optimization method, the rotation vector optimization method(RVOM),was proposed for the valve plate design and compared with the currently used optimization methods to prove its efficiency. As a constant-pressure pump works in different states of swashplate angle, outlet pressure, and pump speed,an optimization principle for the entire working status was proposed to achieve the overall reduction performance.A test rig for an aircraft hydraulic pump was established, and validation experiments were conducted. It was determined that the optimized pump could achieve reduction at multiple working statuses, and the largest pressure pulsation reduction ratios for the typical speed and speed sweep tests reached 64.7%and 71.7%,respectively.The model and method proposed in this study are proven to be effective and accurate.

文摘Biological load-bearing materials, like the nacre in shells, have a unique staggered structure that supports their superior mechanical properties.Engineers have been encouraged to imitate it to create load-bearing bio-inspired materials which have excellent properties not present in conventional composites. To create such materials with desirable mechanical properties, the optimum structural parameters combination must be selected. Moreover, the optimal design of bio-inspired composites needs to take into account the trade-offs between various mechanical properties. In this paper,multi-objective optimization models were developed using structural parameters as design variables and mechanical properties as optimization objectives, including stiffness, strength, toughness, and dynamic damping.Using the NSGA-II optimization algorithm,a set of optimal solutions were solved.Additionally, three different structures in natural nacre were introduced in order to utilize the better structure when design bio-inspired materials. The range of optimal solutions that obtained using results from previous research were examined and explained why this collection of optimal solution ranges is better. Also, optimal solutions were compared with the structural features and mechanical properties of real nacre and artificial biomimetic composites to validate our models. Finally, the optimum design strategies can be obtained for nacre-like composites. Our research methodically proposes an optimization method for achieving load-bearing bio-inspired materials with excellent properties and creates a set of optimal solutions from which designers can select the one that best suits their preferences, allowing the fabricated materials to demonstrate preferred performance.

文摘The optimization of turbine blades is crucial in improving the efficiency of wind energy systems and developing clean energy production models. This paper presented a novel approach to the structural design of smallscale turbine blades using the Artificial Bee Colony(ABC)Algorithm based on the stochastic method to optimize both mass and cost(objective functions). The study used computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and structural analysis to consider the fluid-structure interaction. The optimization algorithm defined several variables:structural constraints, the type of composite material, and the number of composite layers to form a mathematical model. The numerical modeling was performed using the Ansys Fluent software and its Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI)module. The ANSYS Composite PrePost(ACP)advanced composite modeling method was utilized in the structural design of composite materials. This study showed that the structurally optimized small-scale turbine blades provided a sustainable solution with improved efficiency compared to traditional designs.Furthermore, using CFD,structural analysis, and material characterization techniques first considered in this study highlights the importance of considering structural behavior when optimizing turbine blade designs.

文摘Conventional optimal sensor placement(OSP)methods employ the premise that all sensors work perfectly during long-term structural monitoring. However, this premise is often difficult to fulfill in real applications due to poor manufacturing and material aging of sensors, human damage, and electromagnetic interference. This paper presents a robustness-oriented OSP method that considers sensor failures. The OSP problem is designed with consideration of sensor failures to ensure that both complete vibration data collected by all sensors and incomplete vibration data caused by individual sensor failures can accurately identify structural modal parameters.A dispersion-aggregation firefly algorithm(DAFA),which is derived from the basic firefly algorithm, has been proposed to solve this complicated optimization problem. The dispersion and aggregation operators are designed to prevent falling into local optima and to rapidly converge to the global optima. The proposed methodology is confirmed by extracting the robust sensor configuration for a long-span cable-stayed bridge. The robustness of the optimal sensor configurations against sensor failure is thoroughly explored, and the performance of the proposed DAFA is extensively examined.
文摘An optimization strategy is proposed to deal with the aerodynamic/stealthy/structural multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) issue of unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV). The results indicate that the overall process of the surrogate-based two-level optimization strategy can be implemented automatically, and quite reasonable results are obtained.

文摘A light?weight design method of integrated structural topology and size co?optimization for the force?performance?structure of complex structural parts is presented in this paper. Moreover, the lightweight design of the bed is achieved with enhanced performance to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

文摘In this paper a hybrid process of modeling and optimization, which integrates a support vector machine (SVM) and genetic algorithm (GA), was introduced to reduce the high time cost in structural optimization of ships. The time cost of this optimization with SVM-GA has been sharply reduced, many more loops have been processed within a small amount of time and the design has been improved remarkably.

文摘An effective method to design structural Left-handed material(LHM) was proposed. A commercial finite element software HFSS and S-parameter retrieval method were used to determine the effective constitutive parameters of the metamaterials, and topology optimization technique was introduced to design the microstructure configurations of the materials with desired electromagnetic characteristics. The material considered was a periodic array of dielectric substrates attached with metal film pieces. By controlling the arrangements of the metal film pieces in the design domain, the potential microstructure with desired electromagnetic characteristics can be obtained finally. Two different LHMs were obtained with maximum bandwidth of negative refraction, and the experimental results show that negative refractive indices appear while the metamaterials have simultaneously negative permittivity and negative permeability. Topology optimization technique is found to be an effective tool for configuration design of LHMs.
文摘Uncertainty design can take account of aleatory and epistemic uncertainty in optimal processes.Aleatory uncertainty and epistemic uncertainty can be expressed as evidence theory uniformly, and evidence theory is used to describe the uncertainty. Transferring and response with evidence theory for structural optimal design are introduced. The principle of response evaluation is also set up. Finally, the cantilever beam in a test system is optimized in the introduced optimization process, and the results are estimated by the evaluation principle.
