A passive optical network (PON) scheme based on optical code division multiplexing (OCDM) for the downstream traffics is proposed and analyzed in detail. In the PON, the downstream traffics are broadcasted by OCDM technology to guarantee the security, while the upstream traffics pass through the same optical fiber by the common time division multiple access (TDMA) technology to decrease the cost. This schemes are denoted as OCDM/TDMA-PON, which can be applied to an optical access network (OAN) with full services on demand, such as Internet protocol, video on demand, tele-presence and high quality audio. The proposed OCDM/TDMA-PON scheme combines advantages of PON, TDMA, and OCDM technology. Simulation results indicate that the designed scheme improves the OAN performance, and enhances flexibility and scalability of the system. 展开更多

Media access control implementation has been considered. For fulfilling the huge need of bandwidth services, technology tends to move to optical networks and three major optical systems come into existence. Code division of the optical network is most used and real concept interacted with users up to this time. Optical code division multiple access provides complete spectrum to each and every user for the time of accessing the channel. In the paper, we have proposed network architecture with optical encoder and decoder along with optical code translator which is supporting multiple user systems. We integrate the code translator with encoding and decoding of optical code to use the optical network at full extent and present the simulation validation results of 6 Gb/s 3-hop transmission by use of proposed architecture. Further, we have implemented experimentation with 6 users 3 Gb/s optical code division multiple access network. Through simulation structure, it is shown that the combination of encoding with EDFA in multiple user environment system provides improvement in bit error rate and also improves the multiple access interference. With increase of users in the network, MAI value increases and our proposed scheme controls interference in the network. 展开更多

The noise tolerance as the performance index in this receiver is derived. The receiver can not only improve the noise tolerance but also change the pump data conveniently for adapting to the length variation of the coding sequence under a complex and fast-changing weather condition. The influence of different factors on the noise tolerance is analyzed, and a significant improvement of about 18.77 d B for the noise tolerance can be achieved when the pump power and the length of coding sequence are 5 W and 256, respectively. 展开更多

Elastic Resource Allocation for Multi-Granularity Multicasting Traffic in OFDM-Based Optical Networks

With the increasing requirements of the multicast services in the whole data traffic service, the optical multicast technology becomes a key technology supporting wide bandwidth and high speed multicasting communication. The transmission efficiency, capacity and robustness of optical multicast network can be further improved by introducing network coding technology into optical multicast networks. Meanwhile, facing to demand of emerging rate-variable multi-granularity multicast service, a multi-path transmission scheme based on network coding for routing and spectrum allocation (RSA) is proposed. It can not only allocate spectrum resources effectively and flexibly for various-rate multicast traffic, but also balance the network load, improve network throughput and reduce transmission blocking rate. In this paper, RSA problem is decomposed into two subproblems, namely routing allocation based on network coding and spectrum allocation based on maximum spectrum first (MSF) strategy, which are solved sequentially. Simulation experiments are carried out to analyze transmission performance with proposed RSA scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed RSA mechanism can allocate spectrum resources efficiently and flexibly for multi-granularity multicast traffic. Compared with RSA schemes based on shortest path tree (SPT) and minimal spanning tree (MST), the proposed RSA scheme is more efficient for spectrum resource utilization and load balancing, and spectrum resource is saved more than 20%. 展开更多

Optical signal passing through a typical OXC is analyzed in this paper, followed by description of the generation and effect of intraband crosstalk.The power penalties induced by intraband crosstalk versus the number of multiplexed wavelengths M and the number of input fibers N have been given by numerical simulations. The results show that the coherent crosstalk is the most critical limitation on OXC and depends more closely on the number of multiplexed wavelengths M than the number of input fibers N . Crosstalk is suppressed by doubly filtering, fixing optimum decision-threshold and appropriately choosing the number of multiplexed wavelengths M . 展开更多

The couple ratio, the self-ring effect, the Multiple-Access Interference (MAI), and the channel noises are the main factors degrading the system performance. We develop a systematic method that employs the smallest p multiplication method to analyze the optimization of the ring network. The results show that choosing an optimal couple ratio and power control will enhance the system performance dramatically. In addition, the “self-ring” interference and MAI can be suppressed by power control to some extent. 展开更多

A direct detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(DDO-OFDM)system using turbo codes is built,and the transmission performance comparison between coded system and uncoded system is analyzed.Three decoding algorithms,which are Log-maximum a posteriori(MAP),Max-Log-MAP and threshold Max-Log-MAP,are used in the turbo coded system.By comparing three decoding algorithms,the system using Max-Log-MAP algorithm has the best bit error rate(BER)performance.At the transmission distance of 240 km,the uncoded system with transmission rate of 30 Gbit/s can get the BER performance at the degree of 8.93×10-3 with optical signal to noise ratio(OSNR)of24 d B,while the turbo coded system with transmission rate of 50 Gbit/s can achieve it within OSNR of 20 d B. 展开更多

One of the main sources of Bit Error Rate (BER) of OCDMA system based on FBGs is the unevenness of signal power spectrum, which leads to the chip powers unequal with each other. Multiple access techniques are required to meet the demand for high-speed and large-capacity commtmications in optical networks, which allow multiple users to share the fiber bandwidth. O-CDMA (optical code-division multiple-access) is receiving increased attention due to its potential apphcations for LAN optical networks. O-CDMA is attractive for next generation broadband access networks due to its features of allowing fully asynchronous transmission with low latency access, soft capacity on demand, protocol transparency, simplified network management as well as increased flexibility of QoS (Quality of Service) control and enhanced confidentiahty in the network. Hence, the authors experimentally investigate an ultra short pulse O-CDMA scheme based on spectral phase encoding and decoding of coherent mode-locked laser pulses, they proposed a technique using spectral phase encoding time domain system for 32 users. This technique is proved to be much effective to handle 32 users at 4 Gb/s bit rate and 60 km SMF (single mode fiber) transmission used for SPE O-CDMA system. Results indicate significant improvement in term low BER (beat error rate) and very high quality factor in the form of QoS. The authors have used PSO (pseudo orthogonal) codes and random phase code. 针对光正交频分复用索引调制(OOFDM-IM)系统在激活子载波较多时存在误码性能不理想的问题,提出了一种基于空时分组编码(STBC)的STBC-OOFDM-IM方案.该方案通过空间分集技术将信息符号在多个发射天线间进行正交编码,结合索引调制的频谱效... 针对光正交频分复用索引调制(OOFDM-IM)系统在激活子载波较多时存在误码性能不理想的问题,提出了一种基于空时分组编码(STBC)的STBC-OOFDM-IM方案.该方案通过空间分集技术将信息符号在多个发射天线间进行正交编码,结合索引调制的频谱效率优势,实现了空频联合分集增益.理论分析表明:编码后系统在保持传输速率不变的同时,可获得显著的误码性能改善.进一步提出了基于开普勒优化的级联型时间卷积网络与长短期记忆网络(KOA-TCN-LSTM)检测算法.该算法将TCN的局部时序特征提取能力与LSTM的长期依赖建模能力相结合,通过端到端学习直接建立接收信号到发射信号的映射关系.此外,引入KOA优化算法对网络超参数进行全局寻优,有效解决了传统梯度下降易陷入局部最优的问题.仿真结果表明:在弱湍流条件下,当误码率为1×10^(-4)时,(2,1,2)系统的信噪比在编码后改善了约3.8 dB.所提检测算法在获得近似最大似然性能的同时,计算复杂度和时间开销有效降低,这为大气激光通信系统的实用化提供了有效的技术途径. 展开更多

A hybrid wavelength division multiple access (WDMA)/optical code division multiplexing (OCDM) system is proposed, where the optical code is not the same as the address of every optical network unit (ONU); rather, the code is a virtual fiber of hybrid passive optical network (PON). To our knowledge, this is the first report analyzing a single encoder/decoder with a single corresponding optical code being exploited to encode/decode multiple wavelength signals simultaneously. This system enables OCDM to become transparent to ONU so that the existing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) PON can be upgraded. Thus, redesigning the optical line terminal and ONU can be easily accomplished, and greatly decreasing the number of encoder/decoder becomes possible. In experiment, we only employ two encoder/decoder pairs to combine two WDM-PONs in one fiber. Simulation results confirm the feasibility of the proposed system. 展开更多

The proposed codes have at most one-pulse per wavelength (AM-OPPW) property. An upper bound of the codeword cardinality of the 2D VWOOCs with AM-OPPW property is derived. It is then shown that the constructed codes have ideal correlation properties and optimal cardinality. We present the performance analysis of ll2Gb/s-4 wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) 100GHz channel spacing polarization division multiplexed-differential quadrature phase shift keying (PDM-DQPSK) optical label switching system with frequency swept coherent detected spectral amplitude code labels. Direct detection is chosen to demodulate the payload by applying a polarization tracker, while 4-bits of 156Mb/s spectral amplitude code label is coherently detected with a scheme of frequently-swept coherent detection. We optimize the payload laser linewidth as well as the frequency spacing between the payload and label. The label and payload signal performances are assessed by the eye-diagram opening factor (EOF) and bit-error rate (BER) at 10 9 as a function of the received optical power (ROP) and the optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR). The payload could well be demodulated after 900 km at a bit error rate of 10-3 using forward error correction (FEC). 展开更多

针对在不同湍流强度下,非对称限幅光正交频分复用调制技术(Asymmetrically Clipped Optical-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing,ACO-OFDM)的误码率影响较为显著的问题,提出了一种基于深度学习的ACO-OFDM空间光通信系统极化码... 针对在不同湍流强度下,非对称限幅光正交频分复用调制技术(Asymmetrically Clipped Optical-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing,ACO-OFDM)的误码率影响较为显著的问题,提出了一种基于深度学习的ACO-OFDM空间光通信系统极化码译码的方法。先建立了大气信道模型,然后将ACO-OFDM技术与极化码编码结合,最后将多层神经网络译码技术应用于系统中。仿真结果表明,四相调幅下,强湍流条件的多层神经网络译码器优于传统译码,字符信噪比20 dB时误码率差达10^(-3).十六相调幅下,三种湍流强度时多层神经网络译码器均优于传统译码,弱湍流字符信噪比20 dB时差达10^(-5).所提出的方法在一定程度上验证了深度学习结合空间光通信系统中的极化码更能提升系统数据传输的准确率。 展开更多
