Furthermore, it can damage the safe and reliable run of the network. We first introduce a three-phase five-column arc suppression coil (TPFCASC) and discuss its autotracking compensation theory. Then we compare the single phase to ground fault of the coal mine distribution network with an open phase fault at the TPFCASC using the Thévenin theory, the symmetrical-component method and the complex sequence network respectively. The results show that, in both types of faults, zero-sequence voltage of the network will appear and the maximum magnitude of this zero-sequence voltage is different in both faults. Based on this situation, a protection for the open phase fault at the TPFCASC should be estab-lished.展开更多

This paper presents the results of investigation by computer software of the overvoltages resulting from a ferroresonance conditions in MV networks at open phase operating condition with and without connection to earth on source and load sides of distribution transformer. This overvoltage may reach 4.2 pu on one of the HV side of transformer unswitched phases. The results of the study show that ferroresonance overvoltage may be controlled by replacing fuses with circuit breakers on HV side to ensure switching-off all phases. Insertion of resistor or reactor in the neutral of source and loadsides of the transformer with 5% active load will help in suppressing overvoltages.展开更多

No matter whether an incoherent pump is present or absent, transient and stationary gains without inversion (GWI) always can be obtained by choosing an appropriate value of the relative phase. When the incoherent pump is absent, the values of transient and stationary GWIs are much larger and the time interval required to reach the stationary value is longer than those when the incoherent pump is present. Varying the exit rate and the ratio between injection rates can obviously change the phase-dependent GWI. In addition, in the transient evolution process, the phenomenon of high dispersion (refractive index) without absorption occurs at some values of relative phase. In the corresponding closed system, the stationary GWI can be obtained by choosing an appropriate value of relative phase only when incoherent pump exists, moreover the gain is smaller than that in the open system.展开更多

An analytical solution is presented with nonzero asymmetry and phase noise. The effects of asymmetry and phase noise play a contrasting role in the dynamics. The asymmetry makes the oscillation fast, while phase noise enlarges the period. The conditions for the cases of fast decay and oscillation are presented. As a possible application, the dynamical evolution of the population for cold atomic gases with synthetic gauge interaction, which can be understood as two-mode dynamics in momentum space, is predicted.展开更多

The system is called tube radical distribution chromatography (TRDC). Separation performance of the TRDC system using a fused-silica capillary tube was examined through the phase diagram for the ternary water-acetonitrile-ethyl acetate solvent mixture. The TRDC system required homogeneous carrier solutions with solvent component ratios around the boundary curve between homogeneous and heterogeneous solution in the phase diagram. The data obtained using the fused-silica capillary tube were compared with those obtained using a polytetrafluoroethylene capillary tube in our previous study.展开更多

The transport of the molten slag to the receiving pots is carried out through open channels. The transient and steady-state flow of a molten slag in a rectangular open channel is numerically analyzed here. For the transient flow, the Saint-Venant equations were numerically solved. For the steady-state flow, the derivatives in time and space in the Saint-Venant equations were set equal to zero and a polynomial of degree 3 is obtained whose roots are the slag height values. It was assumed that the viscosity of the slag has an Arrhenius-type behavior with temperature. Four values of temperature values, namely 1723.15, 1773.15, 1823.15, 18873.15 ˚K, and five values of the angle of inclination of the channel, namely 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 degrees, are considered. Numerical results show that the steady-state values of the height and velocity of the molten slag depend strongly on the temperature of the slag and the angle of inclination of the channel. As the slag temperature and channel angle increase, the value of the steady-state slag height decreases. The value of the steady-state slag velocity increases as the slag temperature and channel inclination angle increase.展开更多

GWI first increases and then decreases with R0 increasing; in a certain value range of S, GWI increases monotonically with S increasing; by adjusting the values of R0 and S, in an open system a much larger GWI can be obtained than in the corresponding closed system [2011 Phys. Rev. A 83 043805]. The modulation effects of R0 and S on the phase-dependent GWI in the case with the counter-propagating probe and driving fields are stronger than those in the co-propagating case, GWI in the co-propagating case is much larger than that in the counter-propagating case.展开更多
