Hollow cerium nanoparticles synthesized by one-step method for multienzyme activity to reduce colitis in mice

BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a common chronic intestinal inflammatory disease.High oxidative stress is a treatment target for IBD.Cerium oxide(CeO2)nanomaterials as nanozymes with antioxidant activity are potential drugs for the treatment of colitis.AIM To synthesize hollow cerium(H-CeO2)nanoparticles by one-step method and to validate the therapeutic efficacy of H-CeO2 in IBD.METHODS H-CeO2 was synthesized by one-step method and examined its characterization and nanoenzymatic activity.Subsequently,we constructed dextran sulfate so-dium(DSS)-induced colitis in mice to observe the effects of H-CeO2 on colonic inflammation.The effects of H-CeO2 on colon inflammation and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in IBD mice were detected by hematoxylin and eosin staining and dichlorofluorescein diacetate staining,respectively.Finally,the biological sa-fety of H-CeO2 on mice was evaluated by hematoxylin and eosin staining,blood routine,and blood biochemistry.RESULTS H-CeO2 nanoparticles prepared by the one-step method were uniform,monodi-sperse and hollow.H-CeO2 had a good ability to scavenge ROS,∙OH and∙OOH.H-CeO2 reduced DSS-induced decreases in body weight and colon length,colonic epithelial damage,inflammatory infiltration,and ROS accumulation.H-CeO2 administration reduced the disease activity index of DSS-induced animals from about 8 to 5.H-CeO2 had no significant effect on body weight,total platelet count,hemoglobin,white blood cell,and red blood cell counts in healthy mice.No significant damage to major organs was observed in healthy mice following H-CeO2 administration.CONCLUSION The one-step synthesis of H-CeO2 nanomaterials had good antioxidant activity,biosafety,and inhibited deve-lopment of DSS-induced IBD in mice by scavenging ROS. 展开更多

Calcined kaolin/TiO2 composite particle material (CK/TCPM) was prepared with TiO2 coating on the surfaces of calcined kaolin particles by the mechano-chemical method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to investigate the microstructures and morphologies, respectively. The mechanism of the mechano-chemical reaction between calcined kaolin and TiO2 was studied by infrared spectra (IR). The results show that TiO2 coats evenly on the surfaces of calcined kaolin particles by Si-O-Ti and Al-O-Ti bonds on their interfaces. The hiding power and whiteness of CK/TCPM are 17.12 g/m^2 and 95.7%, respectively, presenting its similarity to TiO2 in pigment properties. 展开更多

Gradiently denitrated gun propellant(GDGP)prepared by a“gradient denitration”strategy is obviously superior in progressive burning performance to the traditional deterred gun propellant.Currently,the preparation of GDGP employed a tedious two-step method involving organic solvents,which hinders the large-scale preparation of GDGP.In this paper,GDGP was successfully prepared via a novelty and environmentally friendly one-step method.The obtained samples were characterized by FT-IR,Raman,SEM and XPS.The results showed that the content of nitrate groups gradiently increased from the surface to the core in the surface layer of GDGP and the surface layer of GDGP exhibited a higher compaction than that of raw gun propellant,with a well-preserved nitrocellulose structure.The denitration process enabled the propellant surface with regressive energy density and good progressive burning performance,as confirmed by oxygen bomb and closed bomb test.At the same time,the effects of different solvents on the component loss of propellant were compared.The result showed that water caused the least component loss.Finally,the stability of GDGP was confirmed by methyl-violet test.This work not only provided environmentally friendly,simple and economic preparation of GDGP,but also confirmed the stability of GDGP prepared by this method. 展开更多

CoO/CeOcomposites with high surface areas and ultrafine crystalline sizes for catalytic combustion of methane were firstly prepared by a new sol-gel method which combined ultrasonic impregnation treatment and calcination in Natmosphere. The samples were characterized by various means such as nitrogen adsorption/desorption, X-ray diffraction(XRD), Htemperature-programmed reduction(H-TPR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Results showed that the modified catalyst had the mesoporous structure, comparatively higher amount of surface oxygen and larger oxygen vacancies than others. As a result of the structure and surface composition merits, a high methane combustion conversion(50%) could be obtained at a low temperature of 262 °C for the modified CoO/CeOcomposites catalysts. The experimental results demonstrated that ultrasonic impregnation treatment combined with the Nthermal treatment prior to calcination in air had a promising application for preparation of CoO/CeOcomposites catalysts for low-temperature catalytic combustion of methane. 展开更多

Cd S/Mo S2,an extremely efficient photocatalyst,has been extensively used in hydrogen photoproduction and pollutant degradation.Cd S/Mo S2can be synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal process.However,the effect of the sulfur source on the synthesis of Cd S/Mo S2via one-step hydrothermal methods has seldom been investigated.We report herein a series of one-step hydrothermal preparations of Cd S/Mo S2using three different sulfur sources:thioacetamide,L-cysteine,and thiourea.The results revealed that the sulfur source strongly affected the crystallization,morphology,elemental composition and ultraviolet(UV)–visible-light-absorption ability of the Cd S/Mo S2.Among the investigated sulfur sources,thioacetamide provided the highest visible-light absorption ability for Cd S/Mo S2,with the smallest average particle size and largest surface area,resulting in the highest efficiency in Methylene Blue(MB)degradation.The photocatalytic activity of Cd S/Mo S2synthesized from the three sulfur sources can be arranged in the following order:thioacetamideL-cysteinethiourea.The reaction rate constants(k)for thioacetamide,L-cysteine,and thiourea were estimated to be 0.0197,0.0140,and 0.0084 min^(-1),respectively.However,thioacetamide may be limited in practical application in terms of its price and toxicity,while L-cysteine is relatively economical,less toxic and exhibited good photocatalytic degradation performance toward MB. 展开更多

A series of graphitic-C3N4/ZnS(g-C3N4/ZnS) supercapacitor electrode materials have been prepared via a one-step calcination process of zinc acetate/thiourea with different mass ratios under nitrogen atmosphere. The optimized g-C3N4/ZnS composite shows a highest specific capacitance of 497.7 F/g at 1 A/g and good cycling stability with capacitance retention of 80.4% at 5 A/g after 1000 cycles. Moreover, gC3N4/ZnS composites display an improved supercapacitor performance in terms of specific capacitance compared to the pure g-C3N4 and ZnS. In addition, our designed symmetric supercapacitor device based on g-C3N4/ZnS composite electrodes can exhibit an energy density of 10.4 Wh/kg at a power density of 187.3 W/kg. As a result, g-C3N4/ZnS composites are expected to be a prospective material for supercapacitors and other energy storage applications. 展开更多

The influence of replacement level of calcined coal-series kaolin(CCK) on hydration of ordinary Portland cement(OPC) was studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD)/Rietveld method. X-ray diffraction/Rietveld method was used to quantify the crystalline phase composition of the hydrated samples. Additionally, the morphology of hydrated samples was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The results showed that, calcium hydroxide(CH), ettringite(AFt) and amorphous phase content in hydrated samples decreased as the replacement level of CCK increased, while AFm and str?tlingite increased, which was caused by the combination of dilute, physical and pozzolanic effects. The hydration of anhydrous cement phases was accelerated by physical effect but hindered by the retardation effect of CCK. The role of each effects was discussed in detail to analyze the mechanism of OPC hydration with CCK addition. The SEM images showed that the shortening of AFt at 1 day and the denser texture at 28 days was observed with CCK addition, which was caused by the physical and pozzolanic effects, respectively. 展开更多

This study explores the controllable synthesis of CuAlO_(2) using copper hydroxide and pseudo-boehmite powders as raw materials via a simple solid-phase ball milling method,along with its catalytic performance investigation in methanol steam reforming(MSR).Various catalysts were prepared under different conditions,such as calcination temperature,calcination atmosphere,and heating rate.Characterization techniques including BET,XRD,XPS,SEM and H2-TPR were employed to analyze the samples.The results revealed significant effects of calcination temperature on the phase compositions,specific surface area,reduction performance,and surface properties of the CA-T catalysts.Based on the findings,a synthesis route of CuAlO_(2) via the solid-phase method was proposed,highlighting the importance of high calcination temperature,nitrogen atmosphere,and low heating rate for CuAlO_(2) formation.Catalytic evaluation data demonstrated that CuAlO_(2) could catalyze MSR without pre-reduction,with the catalytic performance of CA-T catalysts being notably influenced by calcination temperature.Among the prepared catalysts,the CA-1100 catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic activity and stability.The findings of this study might be useful for the further study of the catalytic material for sustained release catalysis,including the synthesis of catalytic materials and the regulation of sustained release catalytic performance. 展开更多

The total length of the synthesized gene is 571 bp; 18 oligonucleotides, DNA fragments were designed and synthesized by the phosphoramidite four-step chemical method. The whole DNA sequence was synthesized by a one-step total gene synthesis method, and then inserted in pUC18 vector. Five positive clones identified by blue-white colony screening were sent to Shanghai Sangon Biological Engineering Technology and Service Co., Ltd. for sequencing. The sequencing result shows that one clone contained the complete correct gene in all the five positive clones. 展开更多

Grain Growth Kinetics of SnO_2 Nanocrystals Synthesized by Precipitation Method

Monodispersed spheroidal SnO2 nanocrystals with the grain size of 8-30 nm were synthesized by the precipitation method using SnCl4·5H2O (stannic chloride hydrate) as raw materials.Differential scanning calorimetry/thermogravimetry (DSC/TG),X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used to characterize the structure of SnO2 nanocrystals.The influences of the calcination temperature and time on the lattice constant,the lattice distortion and the grain size of SnO2 nanocrystals were discussed based on the XRD results.The grain growth kinetics of SnO2 nanocrystals during calcination process was simulated with a conventional grain growth model which only took into account of diffusion and with a new isothermal model proposed by our group,which took into account of both diffusion and surface reactions.Using conventional model,the grain growth rate constant of SnO2 crystals is 1.55×104nm5/min with a pre-exponential factor of 5 and an activation energy of 108.62 kJ/mol.Compared with the convention model,the new isothermal model is more realistic in reflecting the grain growth behavior of SnO2 nanocrystals during the calcination process.This indicates that the grain growth of SnO2 nanocrystals is controlled by both diffusion and reaction factors,and the effect of surface reactivity on the grain growth of SnO2 nanocrystals could not be ignored.A combined activation energy estimated with the new isothermal model is 53.46 kJ/mol. 展开更多

They were highly efficient but not suitable either for the forming processes with non-flat initial configurations or for one-step forward and multistep analyses. Thus, a one-step formulation based on the rotation-free BST (Basic Shell Triangle) element was presented. The work is dedicated to develop a one-step eco-friendly method to prepare antibacterial polyethylene terephthalate(PET).We report a one-step eco-friendly method to manufacture antibacterial PET via on-line amination reaction by melt coextrusion.Beside evenly mixing of poly(hexamethylene guanidine)(PHMG)and PET in the melt coextrusion procedure,the amination reaction also occurred between PHMG and PET under high temperature(230-270℃).The antibacterial ability of composite PET showed obvious PHMG concentration dependence,and antibacterial activity reached more than 99%when PHMG content was 2.5 wt%.Moreover,LIVE/DEAD fluorescence test further confirmed that the composite PET could kill bacteria quickly and efiectively(within 30 min);while negligible cytotoxicity was observed to HSF and HUVEC cells.Onestep eco-friendly fabrication of composite antibacterial PET was accomplished by on-line melt coextrusion.The composite antibacterial PET has potential use in multiple fields to combat with pathogenic including textiles,packaging materials,decoration materials and biomedical devices,etc. 展开更多

The influences of TiO2/K2CO3 molar ratio(RT/K), calcination temperature(TC) and cooling process on phase composition and morphology of the whiskers were investigated by TG-DSC(thermo gravimetric-differential scanning calorimeter), XRD(X-ray diffraction), and SEM(scanning electron microscope). The single-phase BiFeO3 powders were prepared by sol-gel method with the starting materials of bismuth nitrate and ferric nitrate, and the effect of the calcined temperature on the phases of BiFeO3 samples was studied. The x-ray diffraction (XRD)showed that the single-phase BiFeO3 powders were obtained with a calcined temperature of 700 ℃. The scanning electron microscope(SEM)analysis indicated that the grain size was around 500 nm in single-phase BiFeO3 powders, and uniform particle size distribution. The FT-IR spectra showed that the BiFeO3 powders began to crystallize at 500℃. 展开更多

煤矸石中富含高岭土资源,为解决目前煤矸石中高岭土资源纳米级制备工艺存在的工艺烦琐、成本过高、产出率低等问题,采用超重力法制备纳米级煤矸石煅烧高岭土,通过单因素实验探究了旋转床转速(A)、反应时间(B)、物料流量(C)对煅烧高岭土... 煤矸石中富含高岭土资源,为解决目前煤矸石中高岭土资源纳米级制备工艺存在的工艺烦琐、成本过高、产出率低等问题,采用超重力法制备纳米级煤矸石煅烧高岭土,通过单因素实验探究了旋转床转速(A)、反应时间(B)、物料流量(C)对煅烧高岭土粒径分布的影响,在此基础上以煅烧高岭土的D_(90)为指标,采用响应面法进一步优化了制备参数。结果表明:超重力法制备纳米级煅烧高岭土的的回归方程为:Y=90.60-48.50A+17.62B+3.87C-11.50AB-3.50AC+25.25BC+25.33A^(2)+29.58B^(2)+28.58C^(2)。方差分析结果表明二次项A^(2),B^(2),C^(2)的P值均小于0.0001,说明其对高岭土平均粒径影响极显著。影响煅烧高岭土D_(90)的三个因素按影响程度由高到低排序为A,B,C;影响煅烧高岭土D_(90)的各个交互项按影响程度由高到低排序为BC,AB,AC。最佳工艺参数为:旋转床转速为1900 r/min,反应时间为16 min,物料流量为1600 mL/min,在此条件下得到的煅烧高岭土(N-K)的D_(90)为78 nm;由扫描电子显微镜、透射电子显微镜分析可知最优条件下制得的煅烧高岭土呈现分散状态且片层厚度范围为2 nm~8 nm,符合二维纳米材料所具有的特征。 展开更多
