Objective: to analyze the role of orthokeratology lens (OK lens) in the prevention and control of myopia in adolescents. Methods: a total of 50 adolescent myopic patients who came to our hospital for myopic consultati...Objective: to analyze the role of orthokeratology lens (OK lens) in the prevention and control of myopia in adolescents. Methods: a total of 50 adolescent myopic patients who came to our hospital for myopic consultation and treatment from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected, and they were divided into two groups with 25 cases in each group according to their treatment intention and glasses wearing mode. The myopia patients in the frame group were treated with ordinary frame glasses, and the OK lens group was monitored by AL measurement. The visual acuity, intraocular pressure, AL monitoring and HHK were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: there were no significant changes in visual acuity, intraocular pressure, AL monitoring and HHK between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05), but there were no significant changes in visual acuity, intraocular pressure, AL monitoring and HHK between the two groups after treatment (P > 0.05). However, the visual acuity, intraocular pressure and HHK of OK mirror group were higher than those before treatment, P < 0.05. AL had no significant change, P > 0.05. Conclusion: AL measuring and monitoring OK lens has better effect on prevention and treatment of myopia than conventional glasses, which is worthy of recommendation for adolescent myopia patients who come to our hospital for consultation and treatment of myopia.展开更多
Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has emerged as a promising neuromodulatory therapy for ischemic stroke that uses multifaceted mechanisms to address acute injury and chronic recovery. This review synthesizes evidence fro...Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) has emerged as a promising neuromodulatory therapy for ischemic stroke that uses multifaceted mechanisms to address acute injury and chronic recovery. This review synthesizes evidence from preclinical and clinical studies, highlighting three neuroprotective mechanisms of VNS: (1) hemodynamic optimization through cholinergic-mediated vasodilation and neurovascular coupling enhancement, (2) suppression of proinflammatory cascades via the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (e.g., >60% TNF-α reduction in animal models), and (3) facilitation of neuroplasticity via brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) upregulation and reorganization of neural networks. Preclinical studies have demonstrated robust efficacy, including 38% infarct reduction in rodent models, whereas clinical trials have found heterogeneous outcomes, with 65%–82% of patients achieving functional improvement, underscoring the need for personalized protocols. Technological advancements are pivotal: noninvasive transcutaneous VNS (tVNS) offers safer alternatives to comparable acute-phase efficacy, and closed-loop systems integrating electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and biomarker feedback reduce adverse effects by 37% through adaptive parameter optimization. However, translational challenges persist, including interspecies pathophysiological disparities, trial design heterogeneity, and long-term safety concerns (e.g., 28%–33% incidence of neural adaptation in chronic invasive VNS). Future directions emphasize humanized stroke models, multimodal data integration, and cost-effective tVNS deployment to improve accessibility. This review delineates a roadmap for VNS clinical translation by bridging mechanistic insights with engineering innovations, positioning VHS as a transformative adjunct therapy in precision stroke rehabilitation.展开更多

Recently there have been two causal modelling approaches to indicative conditionals,i.e.extrapolationist(Deng&Lee,2021)and filterist(Liang&Wang,2022),although they all take an interventionist position on subju...Recently there have been two causal modelling approaches to indicative conditionals,i.e.extrapolationist(Deng&Lee,2021)and filterist(Liang&Wang,2022),although they all take an interventionist position on subjunctive conditionals.Motivated by the so-called OK pairs,they try to provide a convincing explanation of the intuition underlying the OK pairs.As far as we know,what they have done is to provide not only an explanation of the OK pairs,but also a way of distinguishing between indicative and subjunctive conditionals.Although we agree with their success in explaining the OK pairs within a causal modelling framework,we argue that their ways of distinguishing between indicative and subjunctive conditionals fail.Instead,we argue that their approaches can be used to distinguish between two readings of conditionals,the epistemic reading and the ontic reading.which can be applied to both indicative and subjunctive conditionals.We conclude by arguing that these two readings are related to two approaches to asking and answering causal questions:the“auses-of-effects"approach and the"effects-of-causes"approach.展开更多
