A numerical model was established to investigate the effect of inlet cooling rate on fluid flow and temperature distribution in tundish based on a FTSC (Flexible Thin Slab Casting) tundish. The inlet cooling rate varies from 0. 5 to 0. 25 ~C/rain. Under the present calculation conditions, the following conclusions were made. When the stream temperature from teeming ladle drops seriously (for inlet cooling rate of 0.5℃/min), there is a "backward flow" at the coming end of casting. The horizontal flow along the free surface turns to flow along the bottom of tundish. The bottom flow shortens the fluid flow route in tundish and deteriorates the removal effect of nonmetallic inclusions from molten steel. Nevertheless, when the inlet cooling rate decreases to 0.25℃/min, the horizontal flow is sustained during the whole casting period. The present research provides theoretical directions for temperature control in teeming ladle and continuous casting tundish during production of advanced steels.展开更多

The numerical results show that as the drive current rise-time is shortened, x-ray radiation peak power, energy, peak plasma density and peak ion temperature increase approximately linearly, but among them the x-ray radiation peak power increases more quickly. As the initial plasma density distribution in the radial direction becomes gradually flattened, the peak radiation power and the peak ion-temperature almost exponentially increase, while the radiation energy and the peak plasma density change only a little. The main effect of shortening drive current rise-time is to enhance compression of plasma, and the effect of flattening initial load density distribution in the radial direction is to raise the plasma temperature. Both of the approaches elevate the x-ray peak radiation power展开更多

We used CTD to record the temperature and salinity of different depth day and night, and the plankton samples at different layers were hauled up for comparison. We applied the numerical method introduced by R. Kind to calculate reflected plane wave spectrum, measured temperature and salinity in vertical direction of non-uniform layer distribution and obtained the numerical simulation signals of backward scattering sound waves from thermocline layers. We then compared them with the experimental data. Through the experiments of the same periords of three years we have confimed that the measured time that layer-scattering-waves to reach our recorders agreed well with that obtained by temperature sectional simulated data. On the other hand, there is no apparent effects of plankton distribution. This indicates that acoustic scattering mainly depends on physical non-uniformity property of the media (sea water).展开更多
