Non-rigid point matching has received more and more attention.Recently,many works have been developed to discover global relationships in the point set which is treated as an instance of a joint distribution.However,t...Non-rigid point matching has received more and more attention.Recently,many works have been developed to discover global relationships in the point set which is treated as an instance of a joint distribution.However,the local relationship among neighboring points is more effective under non-rigid transformations.Thus,a new algorithm taking advantage of shape context and relaxation labeling technique,called SC-RL,is proposed for non-rigid point matching.It is a strategy that joints estimation for correspondences as well as the transformation.In this work,correspondence assignment is treated as a soft-assign process in which the matching probability is updated by relaxation labeling technique with a newly defined compatibility coefficient.The compatibility coefficient is one or zero depending on whether neighboring points preserving their relative position in a local coordinate system.The comparative analysis has been performed against four state-of-the-art algorithms including SC,ICP,TPS-RPM and RPM-LNS,and the results denote that SC-RL performs better in the presence of deformations,outliers and noise.展开更多

A new patch-based texture synthesis method is presented in this paper. By the method, a set of patches that can be matched with a sampled patch for growing textures effectively, called the matching compatibility betwe...A new patch-based texture synthesis method is presented in this paper. By the method, a set of patches that can be matched with a sampled patch for growing textures effectively, called the matching compatibility between patches, is generated first for each patch, and the set is further optimized by culling the patches that may cause synthesis conflicts. In this way, similarity measurement calculation for selecting suitable patches in texture synthesis can be greatly saved, and synthesis conflicts between neighbouring patches are substantially reduced. Furthermore, retrace computation is integrated in the synthesis process to improve the texture quality. As a result, the new method can produce high quality textures as texture optimization, the best method to date for producing good textures, and run in a time complexity linear to the size of the output texture. Experimental results show that the new method can interactively generate a large texture in 1024 × 1024 pixels, which is very difficult to achieve by existing methods.展开更多
Animal species exhibit a wide range of coloration and patterns,which are under strong selection and often linked to individual quality,influencing mate choice,recognition,signaling,and interspecific interactions such ...Animal species exhibit a wide range of coloration and patterns,which are under strong selection and often linked to individual quality,influencing mate choice,recognition,signaling,and interspecific interactions such as predator avoidance.In amphibians,coloration can vary based on individual traits as well as environmental conditions,including the coloration of their environment.In this study,we described the dorsal coloration(body coloration reticulated by dark patches)in 676 Western spadefoot toads(Pelobates cultripes)from the French Atlantic coast,comparing color variations across different substrates.In addition,we assessed color change in 18 toads transferred between bright and dark substrates.We demonstrated that the dorsal coloration varies based on capture locations(beach vs.inland)and associated substrate types(bright vs.dark),suggesting background color matching.We showed more pronounced effects in females,which might reflect varying predation risks.Experimentally,we showed that individuals can rapidly adjust their coloration to match the substrate within 24 h.Rapid color changes in response to substrate type indicate significant pigmentation plasticity.Bright individuals from sandy substrates showed less dorsal background(body)color change than dark inland individuals,while patch coloration responded differently depending on the substrate of origin.These findings highlight the complex interactions between substrate type,sex,and pigmentation plasticity.These interactions have potential costs and benefits,which might be linked to melanin production,which warrant further investigation.展开更多
After myocardial infarction(MI),ventricular dilation and the microscopic passive stretching of the infarcted border zone is the meaning contributor to the continuous expansion of myocardial fibrosis.Epicardial hydroge...After myocardial infarction(MI),ventricular dilation and the microscopic passive stretching of the infarcted border zone is the meaning contributor to the continuous expansion of myocardial fibrosis.Epicardial hydrogel patches have been demonstrated to alleviate this sequela of MI in small-animal models.However,these have not been successfully translated to humans or even large animals,in part because of challenges in attaining both the greater stiffness and slower viscoelastic relaxation that mathematical models predict to be optimal for application to larger,slower-beating hearts.Here,using borate-based dynamic covalent chemistry,we develop an injectable“heart rate matched”viscoelastic gelatin(VGtn)hydrogel with a gel point tunable across the stiffnesses and frequencies that are predicted to transspecies and cross-scale cardiac repair after MI.Small-animal experiments demonstrated that,compared to heart rate mismatched patches,the heart rate matched VGtn patches inhibited ventricular bulging and attenuated stress concentrations in the myocardium after MI.In particular,the viscoelastic patch can coordinate the microscopic strain at the infarction boundary.VGtn loaded with anti-fibrotic agents further reduced myocardial damage and promoted angiogenesis in the myocardium.The tuned heart rate matched patches demonstrated similar benefits in a larger-scale and lower heart rate porcine MI model.Results suggest that heart rate matched VGtn patches may hold potential for clinical translation.展开更多
