Detection of target analytes at low concentrations is significant in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and environmental protection.Theophylline(TP),a natural alkaloid used as a bronchodilator to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema, has a narrow therapeutic window with a safe plasma concentration ranging from 55.5-111.0μmol·L^(-1)in adults.Accurate monitoring of TP levels is essential because too low or too high can cause se-rious side effects. In this regard,non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors offer a practical solution with rapidity, portability, and high sensitivity. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of the recent developments of non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors for TP detection, highlighting the basic principles,electro-oxidation mechanisms, catalytic effects, and the role of modifying materials on electrode performance.Carbon-based electrodes such as glassy carbon electrodes(GCEs),carbon paste electrodes(CPEs),and carbon screen-printed electrodes(SPCEs)have become the primary choices for non-enzymatic sensors due to their chemical stability, low cost, and flexibility in modification. This article identifies the sig-nificant contribution of various modifying materials, including nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes(CNTs),graphene, metal oxides, and multi-element nanocomposites. These modifications enhance sensors’electron transfer, sensitivity, and selectivity in detecting TP at low concentrations in complex media such as blood plasma and pharmaceutical samples. The electro-oxidation mechanism of TP is also discussed in depth, emphasizing the hydroxyl and carbonyl reaction pathways strongly influenced by pH and electrode materials. These mechanisms guide the selection of the appropriate electrode ma-terial for a particular application. The main contribution of this article is to identify superior modifying materials that can improve the performance of non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors. In a recent study, the combination of multi-element nanocomposites based on titanium dioxide(TiO_(2)),CNTs,and gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)resulted in the lowest detection limit of 3×10^(-5)μmol·L^(-1),reflecting the great potential of these materials for developing high-performance electrochemical sensors. The main conclusion of this article is the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in electrode material design to support the sensitivity and selectivity of TP detection. In addition, there is still a research gap in understanding TP’s more detailed oxidation mechanism, especially under pH variations and complex environments. Therefore, further research on electrode modification and analysis of the TP oxidation mechanism are urgently needed to improve the accuracy and sta-bility of the sensor while expanding its applications in pharmaceutical monitoring and medical diagnostics.By integrating various innovative materials and technical approaches, this review is expected to be an essential reference for developing efficient and affordable non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors. 展开更多

Extensive research focuses on developing costeffective,high-performance electrochemical non-enzyme glucose sensors, particularly using nanocomposites of metal oxides and multi-component alloys. In this paper,a batch of nano-flaky Cu_(x)O decorated CuCoNiFeSi(Cu_(x)O@Cu/Fe)and CuCoNiSi(Cu_(x)O@Cu)electrode was developed by melt-spinning following by anodization.According to the results, the sensitivity of Cu_(x)O@Cu/Fe-25/35 for glucose detection in the lower(0–1 mM)and higher region(1–15 and 15–21 mM)is 2.544,1.51 and0.64 mA mM^(-1)cm^(-2),respectively.The limit of detection(LOD)was estimated to be 0.88μM(signal noise ratio(S/N)=3).Furthermore,the Cu_(x)O@Cu/Fe-25/35 possessed various merits, such as excellent selectivity, good reusability, acceptable reproducibility, satisfying long-term stability, and high tolerance to chloride ions. The enhanced performances of the Cu_(x)O@Cu/Fe-25/35 electrodes are attributable to the feather-like Cu_(x)O and synergistic effect between Cu_(x)O and Ni(Fe,Co)_(3)Si_(2).The work provides a new pathway for detecting all glucose density by electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor. 展开更多

Developing effective, versatile, and high-precision sensing interfaces remains a crucial challenge in human-machine-environment interaction applications.Despite progress in interaction-oriented sensing skins, limitations remain in unit-level reconfiguration, multiaxial force and motion sensing, and robust operation across dynamically changing or irregular surfaces.Herein,we develop a reconfigurable omnidirectional triboelectric whisker sensor array(RO-TWSA)comprising multiple sensing units that integrate a triboelectric whisker structure(TWS)with an untethered hydro-sealing vacuum sucker(UHSVS),enabling reversibly portable deployment and omnidirectional perception across diverse surfaces.Using a simple dual-triangular electrode layout paired with MXene/silicone nanocomposite dielectric layer, the sensor unit achieves precise omnidirectional force and motion sensing with a detection threshold as low as 0.024 N and an angular resolution of 5°,while the UHSVS provides reliable and reversible multi-surface anchoring for the sensor units by involving a newly designed hydrogel combining high mechanical robustness and superior water absorption.Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of RO-TWSA across various interactive scenarios, including teleoperation, tactile diagnostics, and robotic autonomous exploration.Overall,RO-TWSA presents a versatile and high-resolution tactile interface, offering new avenues for intelligent perception and interaction in complex real-world environments. 展开更多

Wearable sensors integrated with deep learning techniques have the potential to revolutionize seamless human-machine interfaces for real-time health monitoring, clinical diagnosis, and robotic applications.Nevertheless,it remains a critical challenge to simultaneously achieve desirable mechanical and electrical performance along with biocompatibility,adhesion,self-healing,and environmental robustness with excellent sensing metrics.Herein,we report a multifunctional,anti-freezing,selfadhesive,and self-healable organogel pressure sensor composed of cobalt nanoparticle encapsulated nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes(CoN CNT)embedded in a polyvinyl alcohol-gelatin(PVA/GLE)matrix.Fabricated using a binary solvent system of water and ethylene glycol(EG),the CoN CNT/PVA/GLE organogel exhibits excellent flexibility, biocompatibility, and temperature tolerance with remarkable environmental stability.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy confirms near-stable performance across a broad humidity range(40%-95%RH).Freeze-tolerant conductivity under sub-zero conditions(-20℃)is attributed to the synergistic role of CoN CNT and EG,preserving mobility and network integrity. The Co N CNT/PVA/GLE organogel sensor exhibits high sensitivity of 5.75 k Pa^(-1)in the detection range from 0 to 20 k Pa,ideal for subtle biomechanical motion detection.A smart human-machine interface for English letter recognition using deep learning achieved 98%accuracy.The organogel sensor utility was extended to detect human gestures like finger bending, wrist motion, and throat vibration during speech. 展开更多

Human action recognition(HAR)is crucial for the development of efficient computer vision, where bioinspired neuromorphic perception visual systems have emerged as a vital solution to address transmission bottlenecks across sensor-processor interfaces. However, the absence of interactions among versatile biomimicking functionalities within a single device, which was developed for specific vision tasks, restricts the computational capacity, practicality, and scalability of in-sensor vision computing. Here,we propose a bioinspired vision sensor composed of a Ga N/Al N-based ultrathin quantum-disks-in-nanowires(QD-NWs)array to mimic not only Parvo cells for high-contrast vision and Magno cells for dynamic vision in the human retina but also the synergistic activity between the two cells for in-sensor vision computing.By simply tuning the applied bias voltage on each QD-NW-array-based pixel,we achieve two biosimilar photoresponse characteristics with slow and fast reactions to light stimuli that enhance the in-sensor image quality and HAR efficiency, respectively.Strikingly, the interplay and synergistic interaction of the two photoresponse modes within a single device markedly increased the HAR recognition accuracy from 51.4%to 81.4%owing to the integrated artificial vision system. The demonstration of an intelligent vision sensor offers a promising device platform for the development of highly efficient HAR systems and future smart optoelectronics. 展开更多

The growing prevalence of exercise-induced tibial stress fractures demands wearable sensors capable of monitoring dynamic musculoskeletal loads with medical-grade precision. While flexible pressure-sensing insoles show clinical potential, their development has been hindered by the intrinsic trade-off between high sensitivity and full-range linearity(R^(2)>0.99 up to 1 MPa)in conventional designs.Inspired by the tactile sensing mechanism of human skin, where dermal stratification enables wide-range pressure adaptation and ion-channelregulated signaling maintains linear electrical responses,we developed a dual-mechanism flexible iontronic pressure sensor(FIPS).This innovative design synergistically combines two bioinspired components:interdigitated fabric microstructures enabling pressure-proportional contact area expansion(αP1/3)and iontronic film facilitating self-adaptive ion concentration modulation(αP^(2/3)),which together generate a linear capacitance-pressure response(CαP).The FIPS achieves breakthrough performance:242 kPa^(-1)sensitivity with 0.997linearity across 0-1 MPa,yielding a record linear sensing factor(LSF=242,000).The design is validated across various substrates and ionic materials, demonstrating its versatility. Finally, the FIPS-driven design enables a smart insole demonstrating 1.8%error in tibial load assessment during gait analysis, outperforming nonlinear counterparts(6.5%error)in early fracture-risk prediction. The biomimetic design framework establishes a universal approach for developing high-performance linear sensors, establishing generalized principles for medical-grade wearable devices. 展开更多

Bimetal catalysts are good alternatives for nonenzymatic glucose sensors owing to their low cost, high activity, good conductivity, and ease of fabrication. In the present study, a self-supported CuNi/C electrode prepared by electrodepositing Cu nanoparticles on a Ni-based metal–organic framework(MOF) derivate was used as a non-enzymatic glucose sensor. The porous construction and carbon scaffold inherited from the Ni-MOF guarantee good kinetics of the electrode process in electrochemical glucose detection. Furthermore, Cu nanoparticles disturb the array structure of MOF derived films and evidently enhance their electrochemical performances in glucose detection. Electrochemical measurements indicate that the CuNi/C electrode possesses a high sensitivity of17.12 mA mM^(-1) cm^(-2), a low detection limit of 66.67 nM,and a wider linearity range from 0.20 to 2.72 mM. Additionally, the electrode exhibits good reusability, reproducibility, and stability, thereby catering to the practical use of glucose sensors. Similar values of glucose concentrations in human blood serum samples are detected with our electrode and with the method involving glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase; the results further demonstrate the practical feasibility of our electrode. 展开更多

In the field of glucose sensors, the development of inexpensive and high-efficiency electrochemical glucose sensors is the current research hotspot. In this paper,CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite with a prickly-sphere-like morphology is prepared by the facile hydrothermal method for the non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose detection.X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spec-troscopy,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are used to analyze the structure, composition, and morphology of the material. In addition, the electrochemical catalytic perfor-mance of CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)to glucose is obtained by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The excellent elec-trochemical sensing performance may be attributed to the large number of catalytic sites in the prickly-sphere-like composite and the synergistic effect of Cu and Co.Under an applied voltage of 0.55 V,CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite shows sensitivity to glucose(1503.45μA·(mmol·L^(-1))^(-1)-cm^(-2)),a low detection limit(21.95μmol·L^(-1)),excellent selectivity,a high level of reproducibility, and good sta-bility.This indicates that the CuO-Co_(3)O_(4)composite has a broad prospect of non-enzymatic glucose sensing application. 展开更多

A novel electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on three-dimensional Au/MXene nanocomposites was developed.MXenes were prepared using the mild etched method, and the porous foam of Au nanoparticles was combined with the MXene by means of in situ synthesis.By controlling the mass of MXene in the synthesis process, porous foam with Au nanoparticles was obtained. The three-dimensional foam structure of nanoparticles was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy.Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to study the electrochemical performance of the Au/MXene nanocomposites. The Au/MXene nanocomposites acted as a fast redox probe for nonenzymatic glucose oxidation and showed good performance, including a high sensitivity of 22.45μA·(mmol/L)^(-1)·cm^(-1)and a wide linear range of 1-12 mmol/L.Studies have shown that MXene as a catalyst-supported material is beneficial to enhance the conductivity of electrons and increase the loading rate of the catalyst materials. The foam structure with Au nanoparticles can provide a larger surface area, increase the contact area with the molecule in the catalytic reaction, and enhance the electrochemical reaction signal. In summary, this study shows that Au/MXene nanoparticles have the potential to be used in non-enzymatic glucose sensors. 展开更多

The preparation of highly sensitive and stable non-enzymatic glucose sensors is critical to the prevention and treatment of diabetes.Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co Fe-LDH is prepared through a spontaneous galvanic displacement reaction.A series of structural characterizations testify the successful formation of Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co FeLDH electrocatalyst, with the Au intercalating between Fe_(3)O_(4)and LDH to form the sandwich structure.Cyclic voltammetry tests indicate that Au is responsible for the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose. The characterizations of the electrochemical sensor for glucose detection indicate that Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co FeLDH possesses high sensitivity of 6342μA m M^(-1)cm^(-2),with an extremely low oxidation potential of 0.82 V vs.RHE.Even with the high glucose concentration of 15 m M,the sensitivity remains at 4359μA m M^(-1)cm^(-2).Due to the broad linear detection range(0.0375 to 15.64 m M)and the low limit of detection(12.7μM),Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co Fe-LDH is applicable towards practical application. Thanks to the sandwich structure, which confines the Au in between Fe_(3)O_(4)and Co Fe-LDH,the Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co Fe-LDH glucose sensor shows high long-term stability and satisfactory selectivity. The successful synthesis of the sandwichstructured Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au@Co Fe-LDH provides a new conception for the design of highly sensitive and stable non-enzymatic glucose electrodes. 展开更多

In this paper, the Ag2O nanowires had been prepared and applied for the fabrication of ascorbic acid sensors with high enhanced sensitivity by using self-assembly technology. The structures and morphologies of Ag2O nanowires were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The direct electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid in alkaline medium at Ag2O nanowires modified electrodes had been investigated in detail and the condition for determination of ascorbic acid was optimized, such as support-electrolyte, pH and scan speed. The oxidation peak current changed linearly with the concentration of ascorbic acid over the range from 2.0×10-8 mol/L to 1.0 mmol/L, and the detection limit can reach 1.0×10-8mol/L. Compared to a bare Ag electrode, a substantial decrease in the overvoltage of the ascorbic acid oxidation was observed at the Ag nanowires electrodes with oxidation starting at ca. 0.7V vs. Ag/AgCl (saturated KCl). The Ag2O nanowires modified electrode allows highly sensitive, low working potential, stable, and fast amperometric sensing of ascorbic acid, thus is promising for the future development of non-enzymatic ascorbic acid sensors. 展开更多

The complex wiring, bulky data collection devices, and difficulty in fast and on-site data interpretation significantly limit the practical application of flexible strain sensors as wearable devices. To tackle these challenges, this work develops an artificial intelligenceassisted, wireless, flexible, and wearable mechanoluminescent strain sensor system(AIFWMLS)by integration of deep learning neural network-based color data processing system(CDPS)with a sandwich-structured flexible mechanoluminescent sensor(SFLC)film. The SFLC film shows remarkable and robust mechanoluminescent performance with a simple structure for easy fabrication. The CDPS system can rapidly and accurately extract and interpret the color of the SFLC film to strain values with auto-correction of errors caused by the varying color temperature, which significantly improves the accuracy of the predicted strain.A smart glove mechanoluminescent sensor system demonstrates the great potential of the AIFWMLS system in human gesture recognition. Moreover, the versatile SFLC film can also serve as a encryption device. The integration of deep learning neural network-based artificial intelligence and SFLC film provides a promising strategy to break the“color to strain value”bottleneck that hinders the practical application of flexible colorimetric strain sensors, which could promote the development of wearable and flexible strain sensors from laboratory research to consumer markets. 展开更多

Non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors for the determination of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))have attracted more and more concerns.A series of nickel and cobalt double oxides(Ni_(x)Co_(y)-DO)with the different ratios of Ni/Co have been prepared by a polyol-mediated solvothermal method for H_(2)O_(2)detection.The obtained products exhibit honeycomb-like open porous microtubes constituted with the low-dimensional nanostructured Ni_(x)Co_(y)-DO blocks after the calcination treatment.Compared with nickel oxides, the introduced Co ions in Ni_(x)Co_(y)-DO can induce the production of surficial oxygen vacancies, and further enhance the electrode surface activity. In particular, the NiCo-DO sample(with an atomic ratio of Ni/Co=4:3)shows the richest surficial oxygen vacancies and presents the highest H_(2)O_(2)detection activity among all the as-prepared samples, demonstrating an excellent sensitivity of698.60μAL mmol^(-1)cm^(-2)(0~0.4 mmol/L),low detection limit(0.28μmol/L,S/N=3),as well as long stability, high selectivity and good reproducibility. This work lends a new impetus to the potential application of double metal oxides for the next generation of non-enzymatic sensors. 展开更多
