Software-Defined Networking(SDN)improves network management by separating its control logic from the underlying hardware and integrating it into a logically centralized control unit,termed the SDN controller.SDN adaptation is essential for wireless networks because it offers enhanced and data-intensive services.The initial intent of the SDN design was to have a physically centralized controller.However,network experts have suggested logically centralized and physically distributed designs for SDN controllers,owing to issues such as a single point of failure and scalability.This study addressed the security,scalability,reliability,and consistency issues associated with the design of distributed SDN controllers.Moreover,the security issues of an enterprise related to multiple physically distributed controllers in a software-defined wireless local area network(SD-WLAN)were emphasized,and optimal solutions were suggested. 展开更多

Adversaries have plenty of time to... Controller vulnerabilities allow malicious actors to disrupt or hijack the Software-Defined Networking. Traditionally, it is static mappings between the control plane and data plane. Adversaries have plenty of time to exploit the controller's vulnerabilities and launch attacks wisely. We tend to believe that dynamically altering such static mappings is a promising approach to alleviate this issue, since a moving target is difficult to be compromised even by skilled adversaries. It is critical to determine the right time to conduct scheduling and to balance the overhead afforded and the security levels guaranteed. Little previous work has been done to investigate the economical time in dynamic-scheduling controllers. In this paper, we take the first step to both theoretically and experimentally study the scheduling-timing problem in dynamic control plane. We model this problem as a renewal reward process and propose an optimal algorithm in deciding the right time to schedule with the objective of minimizing the long-term loss rate. In our experiments, simulations based on real network attack datasets are conducted and we demonstrate that our proposed algorithm outperforms given scheduling schemes. 展开更多

Disability is defined as a condition that makes it difficult for a person to perform certain vital activities.In recent years,the integration of the concepts of intelligence in solving various problems for disabled persons has become more frequent.However,controlling an exoskeleton for rehabilitation presents challenges due to their nonlinear characteristics and external disturbances caused by the structure itself or the patient wearing the exoskeleton.To remedy these problems,this paper presents a novel adaptive control strategy for upper-limb rehabilitation exoskeletons,addressing the challenges of nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances.The proposed controller integrated a Radial Basis Function Neural Network(RBFNN)with a disturbance observer and employed a high-dimensional integral Lyapunov function to guarantee system stability and trajectory tracking performance.In the control system,the role of the RBFNN was to estimate uncertain signals in the dynamic model,while the disturbance observer tackled external disturbances during trajectory tracking.Artificially created scenarios for Human-Robot interactive experiments and periodically repeated reference trajectory experiments validated the controller’s performance,demonstrating efficient tracking.The proposed controller is found to achieve superior tracking accuracy with Root-Mean-Squared(RMS)errors of 0.022-0.026 rad for all joints,outperforming conventional Proportional-Integral-Derivative(PID)by 73%and Neural-Fuzzy Adaptive Control(NFAC)by 389.47%lower error.These results suggested that the RBFNN adaptive controller,coupled with disturbance compensation,could serve as an effective rehabilitation tool for upper-limb exoskeletons.These results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method in enhancing rehabilitation accuracy and robustness,offering a promising solution for the control of upper-limb assistive devices.Based on the obtained results and due to their high robustness,the proposed control schemes can be extended to other motor disabilities,including lower limb exoskeletons. 展开更多

To handle input and output time delays that commonly exist in many networked control systems(NCSs), a new robust continuous sliding mode control(CSMC) scheme is proposed for the output tracking in uncertain single input-single-output(SISO) networked control systems. This scheme consists of three consecutive steps. First, although the network-induced delay in those systems can be effectively handled by using Pade approximation(PA), the unmatched disturbance cames out as another difficulty in the control design. Second, to actively estimate this unmatched disturbance, a generalized proportional integral observer(GPIO) technique is utilized based on only one measured state. Third, by constructing a new sliding manifold with the aid of the estimated unmatched disturbance and states, a GPIO-based CSMC is synthesized, which is employed to cope with not only matched and unmatched disturbances, but also networkinduced delays. The stability of the entire closed-loop system under the proposed GPIO-based CSMC is detailedly analyzed.The promising tracking efficiency and feasibility of the proposed control methodology are verified through simulations and experiments on Quanser's servo module for motion control under various test conditions. 展开更多

Tracking control of tendon-driven manipulators has become a prevalent research area.However,the existence of flexible elastic tendons generates substantial residual vibrations,resulting in difficulties for trajectory tracking control of the manipulator.This paper proposes the radial basis function neural network adaptive hierarchical sliding mode control(RBFNNA-HSMC)method,which combines the dynamic model of the elastic tendon-driven manipulator(ETDM)with radial basis neural network adaptive control and hierarchical sliding mode control technology.The aim is to achieve trajectory tracking control of ETDM even under conditions of model inaccuracy and disturbance.The Lyapunov stability theory demonstrates the stability of the proposed RBFNNA-HSM controller.In order to assess the effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed control method,simulations and experiments were performed on a two-DOF ETDM.The RBFNNA-HSM method shows superior tracking accuracy compared to traditional modelbased HSM control.The experiment shows that the maximum tracking error for ETDM double-joint trajectory tracking is below 2.593×10-3rad and 1.624×10-3rad,respectively. 展开更多

Consequently, networked control is the current trend for industrial automation and has ever-increasing applications in a wide range of areas, such as smart grids, manufacturing systems,process control, automobiles, automated highway systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The modelling, analysis, and control of networked control systems have received considerable attention in the last two decades. The ‘control over networks’ is one of the key research directions for networked control systems. This paper aims at presenting a survey of trends and techniques in networked control systems from the perspective of ‘control over networks’, providing a snapshot of five control issues: sampled-data control, quantization control, networked control, event-triggered control, and security control. In this paper, adjustable deadbands are explored as a solution to reduce network traffic in NCS. A method of fault-tolerant control of networked control system is presented, which takes into account system response as well as network traffic. The integrity design for a kind of NCS with sensor failures and actuator failures is analyzed based on robust fault-tolerant control theory and information scheduling. The H_∞ performance analysis and controller design for linear networked control systems(NCSs) are presented.The NCSs are considered a linear continuous system with time-varying interval input delay by assuming that the sensor is time-driven and the logic Zero-order-holder(ZOH) and controller are event-driven.Based on this model,the delay interval is divided into two equal subintervals for H_∞ performance analysis.An improved H_∞ stabilization condition is obtained in linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) framework by adequately considering the information about the bounds of the input delay to construct novel Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals(LKFs).For the purpose of reducing the conservatism of the proposed results,the bounds of the LKFs differential cross terms are properly estimated without introducing any slack matrix variables.Moreover,the H_∞ controller is reasonably designed to guarantee the robust asymptotic stability for the linear NCSs with an H_∞ performance level γ.Numerical simulation examples are included to validate the reduced conservatism and effectiveness of our proposed method. 展开更多

Using the Lyapunov theory and the linear matrix inequality approach, the criteria for delay-independent stability and delay-dependent stability of singular networked control systems are derived and transformed to a feasibility problem of linear matrix inequality formulation, which can be solved by the Matlab LMI toolbox, and the feasible solutions provide the maximum allowable delay bound that makes the system stable. A numerical example is provided, which shows that the analysis method is valid and the stability criteria are feasible. 展开更多
