Security and safety remain paramount concerns for both governments and individuals worldwide.In today’s context,the frequency of crimes and terrorist attacks is alarmingly increasing,becoming increasingly intolerable to society.Consequently,there is a pressing need for swift identification of potential threats to preemptively alert law enforcement and security forces,thereby preventing potential attacks or violent incidents.Recent advancements in big data analytics and deep learning have significantly enhanced the capabilities of computer vision in object detection,particularly in identifying firearms.This paper introduces a novel automatic firearm detection surveillance system,utilizing a one-stage detection approach named MARIE(Mechanism for Realtime Identification of Firearms).MARIE incorporates the Single Shot Multibox Detector(SSD)model,which has been specifically optimized to balance the speed-accuracy trade-off critical in firearm detection applications.The SSD model was further refined by integrating MobileNetV2 and InceptionV2 architectures for superior feature extraction capabilities.The experimental results demonstrate that this modified SSD configuration provides highly satisfactory performance,surpassing existing methods trained on the same dataset in terms of the critical speedaccuracy trade-off.Through these innovations,MARIE sets a new standard in surveillance technology,offering a robust solution to enhance public safety effectively. 展开更多

To handle input and output time delays that commonly exist in many networked control systems(NCSs), a new robust continuous sliding mode control(CSMC) scheme is proposed for the output tracking in uncertain single input-single-output(SISO) networked control systems. This scheme consists of three consecutive steps. First, although the network-induced delay in those systems can be effectively handled by using Pade approximation(PA), the unmatched disturbance cames out as another difficulty in the control design. Second, to actively estimate this unmatched disturbance, a generalized proportional integral observer(GPIO) technique is utilized based on only one measured state. Third, by constructing a new sliding manifold with the aid of the estimated unmatched disturbance and states, a GPIO-based CSMC is synthesized, which is employed to cope with not only matched and unmatched disturbances, but also networkinduced delays. The stability of the entire closed-loop system under the proposed GPIO-based CSMC is detailedly analyzed.The promising tracking efficiency and feasibility of the proposed control methodology are verified through simulations and experiments on Quanser's servo module for motion control under various test conditions. 展开更多

YOLO-SIFD:YOLO with Sliced Inference and Fractal Dimension Analysis for Improved Fire and Smoke Detection

Fire detection has held stringent importance in computer vision for over half a century.The development of early fire detection strategies is pivotal to the realization of safe and smart cities,inhabitable in the future.However,the development of optimal fire and smoke detection models is hindered by limitations like publicly available datasets,lack of diversity,and class imbalance.In this work,we explore the possible ways forward to overcome these challenges posed by available datasets.We study the impact of a class-balanced dataset to improve the fire detection capability of state-of-the-art(SOTA)vision-based models and propose the use of generative models for data augmentation,as a future work direction.First,a comparative analysis of two prominent object detection architectures,You Only Look Once version 7(YOLOv7)and YOLOv8 has been carried out using a balanced dataset,where both models have been evaluated across various evaluation metrics including precision,recall,and mean Average Precision(mAP).The results are compared to other recent fire detection models,highlighting the superior performance and efficiency of the proposed YOLOv8 architecture as trained on our balanced dataset.Next,a fractal dimension analysis gives a deeper insight into the repetition of patterns in fire,and the effectiveness of the results has been demonstrated by a windowing-based inference approach.The proposed Slicing-Aided Hyper Inference(SAHI)improves the fire and smoke detection capability of YOLOv8 for real-life applications with a significantly improved mAP performance over a strict confidence threshold.YOLOv8 with SAHI inference gives a mAP:50-95 improvement of more than 25%compared to the base YOLOv8 model.The study also provides insights into future work direction by exploring the potential of generative models like deep convolutional generative adversarial network(DCGAN)and diffusion models like stable diffusion,for data augmentation. 展开更多

Cognitive radar is a concept proposed by Simon Haykin in 2006 as a new generation of radar system that imitates human cognitive features.Different from the adaptive signal processing at the receiver in adaptive radar,the cognitive radar realizes closedloop adaptive policy adjustment of both transmitter and receiver in the continuous interaction with the environment.As a networked radar may significantly enhance the flexibility and robustness than its monostatic counterpart,the wireless networked cognitive radar(WNCR)attracts increasing research.This article firstly reviews the concept and development of cognitive radar,especially the related researches of networked cognitive radar.Then,the co-design of cognitive radar and communication is investigated.Although the communication quality between radar sensing nodes is the premise of detection,tracking,imaging and anti-jamming performance of the WNCR,the latest researches seldom consider the communication architecture design for WNCR.Therefore,this article mainly focuses on the proposal of WNCR concept based on the researches of cognitive radar and analyzes research challenges of WNCR system in practical application,and the corresponding guidelines are proposed to inspire future research. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel event-driven encrypted control framework for linear networked control systems(NCSs),which relies on two modified uniform quantization policies,the Paillier cryptosystem,and an event-triggered strategy.Due to the fact that only integers can work in the Pailler cryptosystem,both the real-valued control gain and system state need to be first quantized before encryption.This is dramatically different from the existing quantized control methods,where only the quantization of a single value,e.g.,the control input or the system state,is considered.To handle this issue,static and dynamic quantization policies are presented,which achieve the desired integer conversions and guarantee asymptotic convergence of the quantized system state to the equilibrium.Then,the quantized system state is encrypted and sent to the controller when the triggering condition,specified by a state-based event-triggered strategy,is satisfied.By doing so,not only the security and confidentiality of data transmitted over the communication network are protected,but also the ciphertext expansion phenomenon can be relieved.Additionally,by tactfully designing the quantization sensitivities and triggering error,the proposed event-driven encrypted control framework ensures the asymptotic stability of the overall closedloop system.Finally,a simulation example of the secure motion control for an inverted pendulum cart system is presented to evaluate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. 展开更多

This paper concerns ultimately bounded output-feedback control problems for networked systems with unknown nonlinear dynamics. Sensor-to-observer signal transmission is facilitated over networks that has communication constraints.These transmissions are carried out over an unreliable communication channel. In order to enhance the utilization rate of measurement data, a buffer-aided strategy is novelly employed to store historical measurements when communication networks are inaccessible. Using the neural network technique, a novel observer-based controller is introduced to address effects of signal transmission behaviors and unknown nonlinear dynamics.Through the application of stochastic analysis and Lyapunov stability, a joint framework is constructed for analyzing resultant system performance under the introduced controller. Subsequently, existence conditions for the desired output-feedback controller are delineated. The required parameters for the observerbased controller are then determined by resolving some specific matrix inequalities. Finally, a simulation example is showcased to confirm method efficacy. 展开更多

Prediction of the Pore-Pressure Built-Up and Temperature of Fire-Loaded Concrete with Pix2Pix

Concrete subjected to fire loads is susceptible to explosive spalling, which can lead to the exposure of reinforcingsteel bars to the fire, substantially jeopardizing the structural safety and stability. The spalling of fire-loaded concreteis closely related to the evolution of pore pressure and temperature. Conventional analytical methods involve theresolution of complex, strongly coupled multifield equations, necessitating significant computational efforts. Torapidly and accurately obtain the distributions of pore-pressure and temperature, the Pix2Pix model is adoptedin this work, which is celebrated for its capabilities in image generation. The open-source dataset used hereinfeatures RGB images we generated using a sophisticated coupled model, while the grayscale images encapsulate the15 principal variables influencing spalling. After conducting a series of tests with different layers configurations,activation functions and loss functions, the Pix2Pix model suitable for assessing the spalling risk of fire-loadedconcrete has been meticulously designed and trained. The applicability and reliability of the Pix2Pix model inconcrete parameter prediction are verified by comparing its outcomes with those derived fromthe strong couplingTHC model. Notably, for the practical engineering applications, our findings indicate that utilizing monochromeimages as the initial target for analysis yields more dependable results. This work not only offers valuable insightsfor civil engineers specializing in concrete structures but also establishes a robust methodological approach forresearchers seeking to create similar predictive models. 展开更多

Forest fire accidents caused by distribution line faults occur frequently,resulting in heavy impacts on people’s safety and social and economic development.Currently,there are few risk assessments for forest fires induced by over-head distribution lines,and existing assessment methods may have difficulties in data acquisition.On this basis,a novel as-sessment framework based on an analytic hierarchy process,a Bayesian network and a Fussel-Vesely importance metric is proposed in this paper.The framework combines field research and historical operation and maintenance data to assess the regional-scale risk of forest fires induced by overhead distribution lines to derive the probability of forest fires and to identify high-risk lines and key hazard events in the assessment region.Finally,taking the southern Anhui region as an ex-ample,the annual fire probability of forest fires induced by overhead distribution lines in the southern Anhui region is 5.88%,and rectification measures are proposed.This study provides management with a complete assessment framework that optimizes the difficulty of data collection and allows for additional targeted corrective measures to be proposed for the entire region and route on the basis of the assessment results. 展开更多

The conception of epoxy thermosets with both reprocessability and flame retardancy delineates a new horizon in polymer science,offering a material solution that is not only superior in fire safety but is also environment friendly.Herein,a flame-retardant epoxy vitrimer(EV)was prepared using partially bio-based IADPPO(diphenylphosphine oxide itaconic anhydride)and citric acid as curing reagents via a solvent-free process.Their incorporation created covalent adaptable networks(CANs)in the matrix which promote reprocessability and recyclability.The EV exhibits excellent thermal stability with high initial decomposition temperature(T_(- 5wt%)∼308℃)and high glass transition temperature(T_(g)∼107℃),similar to the blank EV(115℃).The flame retardancy,mechanical properties,transesterification-based reprocessability,and flame-retardant mechanism were investigated.The EV containing 3 wt%phosphorus(EV IADPPO 3P)achieved UL-94 V0 classification with a limiting oxygen index(LOI)of 27%,while the virgin sample Blank EV(without phosphorus)burned completely.Additionally,increased flexural strength of 79%was observed for EV IADPPO 3P compared to Blank EV.Furthermore,the flame-retardant EV showed high malleability and reparability that could be thermomechanically reprocessed without sacrificing the thermal,mechanical,and flame-retardant properties.Thus,the newly developed epoxy vitrimer is not only fire-safe but fulfills the sustainability goals of today’s society. 展开更多

水电机组长期运行在恶劣环境下,异常振动更加频繁,逐渐出现疲劳、磨损,导致机组性能劣化。为保障机组的安全稳定运行,需要准确直观地反映水电机组运行并预测机组未来劣化状况,为机组状态检修提供重要依据。提出了一种基于融合劣化指标和... 水电机组长期运行在恶劣环境下,异常振动更加频繁,逐渐出现疲劳、磨损,导致机组性能劣化。为保障机组的安全稳定运行,需要准确直观地反映水电机组运行并预测机组未来劣化状况,为机组状态检修提供重要依据。提出了一种基于融合劣化指标和VMD-Informer的机组劣化趋势预测方法。首先构建KAN健康模型拟合工况参数与振摆值之间的映射关系,然后通过对比模型输出值与实测振摆值在不同指标下的差异得到多个劣化序列,运用遗传算法对多个劣化序列进行寻优获取融合劣化指标,兼顾多个指标的优势,更为准确地反映机组劣化趋势。之后用变分模态分解(VMD)将融合劣化序列分解为多个分量,最后利用Informer预测模型对分解后的各个分量进行多步预测并重构得到最终的预测结果,从而实现对机组运行状况的准确评估和预测。实例分析表明,所提方法能够生成可靠的劣化趋势,同时在预测上能学习劣化趋势序列的长期趋势和局部特征,预测精度更高。 展开更多

现有的基于卷积神经网络(convolutional neural network,CNN)的环路滤波器倾向于将多个网络应用于不同的量化参数(quantization parameter,QP),消耗训练模型中的大量资源,并增加内存负担。针对这一问题,提出一种基于CNN的QP自适应环路... 现有的基于卷积神经网络(convolutional neural network,CNN)的环路滤波器倾向于将多个网络应用于不同的量化参数(quantization parameter,QP),消耗训练模型中的大量资源,并增加内存负担。针对这一问题,提出一种基于CNN的QP自适应环路滤波器。首先,设计一个轻量级分类网络,按照滤波难易程度将编码树单元(coding tree unit,CTU)划分为难、中、易3类;然后,构建3个融合了特征信息增强融合模块的基于CNN的滤波网络,以满足不同QP下的3类CTU滤波需求。将所提出的环路滤波器集成到多功能视频编码(versatile video coding,VVC)标准H.266/VVC的测试软件VTM 6.0中,替换原有的去块效应滤波器(deblocking filter,DBF)、样本自适应偏移(sample adaptive offset,SAO)滤波器和自适应环路滤波器。实验结果表明,该方法平均降低了3.14%的比特率差值(Bjøntegaard delta bit rate,BD-BR),与其他基于CNN的环路滤波器相比,显著提高了压缩效率,并减少了压缩伪影。 展开更多

不同地质条件下盾构机掘进速度预测方法 被引量:1

盾构机掘进性能受不同地质条件影响明显。该研究以电驱土压平衡盾构机为对象,统计了961环3761006条掘进数据,包括砂质黏性土层等6种地质组合以及对应的盾构机掘进参数。通过相关性分析,确定与掘进速度紧密相关的特征变量,包括总推力、... 盾构机掘进性能受不同地质条件影响明显。该研究以电驱土压平衡盾构机为对象,统计了961环3761006条掘进数据,包括砂质黏性土层等6种地质组合以及对应的盾构机掘进参数。通过相关性分析,确定与掘进速度紧密相关的特征变量,包括总推力、同步注浆量和泡沫压力等。然后,针对实际盾构工程存在数据分布不均衡问题,对原始数据高斯重采样,生成包含19950个有效样本的数据集。随后,提出了一种基于Kolmogorov-Arnold Network(KAN)的盾构机掘进速度预测方法,KAN模型通过多层次复合函数的组合逼近非线性关系,将多因素耦合的非线性关系又近似分解为一系列单变量函数组合,在确保模型预测精度的同时,极大提高计算效率。以深圳至大亚湾地铁盾构工程为例,开展实验论证,结果表明:与卷积神经网络(CNN)、长短时记忆网络(LSTM)等模型相比,KAN在处理高维数据和非线性耦合关系方面表现出优越性能,其预测结果能够精确拟合实测数据。在地质条件较为单一(如全风化混合花岗岩、土状强风化混合花岗岩)的预测误差较低,平均误差控制在5.12%~7.02%,而在混合地层中预测误差有所增大,但总体平均误差仍控制在15%以内。该方法为复杂地质条件下盾构机施工优化提供了有力的决策支持。未来将地质空间分布信息以序列形式引入模型,并增加刀盘磨损的输出预测,为盾构施工的智能化管理提供更加全面的解决方案。 展开更多

Medical procedures are inherently invasive and carry the risk of inducing pain to the mind and body.Recently,efforts have been made to alleviate the discomfort associated with invasive medical procedures through the use of virtual reality(VR)technology.VR has been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for pain associated with medical procedures,as well as for chronic pain conditions for which no effective treatment has been established.The precise mechanism by which the diversion from reality facilitated by VR contributes to the diminution of pain and anxiety has yet to be elucidated.However,the provision of positive images through VR-based visual stimulation may enhance the functionality of brain networks.The salience network is diminished,while the default mode network is enhanced.Additionally,the medial prefrontal cortex may establish a stronger connection with the default mode network,which could result in a reduction of pain and anxiety.Further research into the potential of VR technology to alleviate pain could lead to a reduction in the number of individuals who overdose on painkillers and contribute to positive change in the medical field. 展开更多
