Without changing the structure of the system, an Hoo states observer is designed for NCS with short time-delay. Based on the designed states observer, a robust fault detection approach is proposed for NCS. In addition, an optimization method for the selection of the detection threshold is introduced for better tradeoff between the robustness and the sensitivity. Finally, some simulation results demonstrate that the presented states observer is robust and the fault detection for NCS is effective.展开更多

Using fuzzy neural networks to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions, a fuzzy- neural adaptive observer is introduced for state estimation as well as system identification. Under the framework of the backstepping design, fuzzy-neural adaptive output feedback control is constructed recursively. It is proven that the proposed fuzzy adaptive control approach guarantees the global boundedness property for all the signals, driving the tracking error to a small neighbordhood of the origin. For networked systems, event-based transmission scheme is capable of improving the efficiency in resource utilization and prolonging the lifetime of the network components compared with the widely adopted periodic transmission scheme. As such, it would be interesting to 1) examining how the event-triggering mechanisms affect the control or filtering performance for networked systems, and 2) developing some suitable approaches for the controller and filter design problems. In this paper, a bibliographical review is presented on event-based control and filtering problems for various networked systems. First, the event-driven communication scheme is introduced in detail according to its engineering background, characteristic, and representative research frameworks. Then, different event-based control and filtering(or state estimation) problems are categorized and then discussed. Finally, we conclude the paper by outlining future research challenges for event-based networked systems.展开更多

The network-induced time delay is described as bounded and arbitrary process. For the usual state feedback controller, by considering all the possibilities of delays, an augmented state space model of the closed-loop system, which characterizes all the delay cases, is obtained. The stability conditions are given according to the Lyapunov method based on this augmented model. The stability property is inherited in MPC which explicitly considers the physical constraints. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed MPC.展开更多

In this work, the initial states are not required to be identical further but can be varying from iteration to iteration. In addition, the desired terminal point is not fixed any more but is allowed to change run-to-run. Consequently, a new adaptive TILC is proposed with a neural network initial state learning mechanism to achieve the learning objective over iterations. The neural network is used to approximate the effect of iteration-varying initial states on the terminal output and the neural network weights are identified iteratively along the iteration axis.A dead-zone scheme is developed such that both learning and adaptation are performed only if the terminal tracking error is outside a designated error bound. It is shown that the proposed approach is able to track run-varying terminal desired points fast with a specified tracking accuracy beyond the initial state variance.展开更多

The expectation maximization (EM) algorithm is introduced to derive the maximumlikelihood estimation (MLE) of the parameters of the DTHMM. Based on the derived DTHMM, the Viterbi algorithm is introduced to predict the controller-to-actuator (C-A) delay during the current sampling period. The simulation experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the modelling and predicting methods proposed.展开更多

Based on the flee-weighing matrix method, a dehy-dependent stability criterion satisfying a prescribed H-infinity norm bound is presented for an NCS with unknown, time-varying and bounded delays. And then, the criterion is transformed into sufficient conditions based on linear matrix inequalities for H-infinity control. The conditions thus obtained are also used to design an H-infinity state feedback controller. This design method is further extended to solve the design problem of robust H-infinity state feedback control. A numerical example demonstrates the validity of the method.展开更多

However, because of the network-enhanced complexity caused by the limited network resources, it poses new challenges to the design of suitable encoding-decoding procedures to meet certain control or filtering performance for the NSs. In this survey paper, our aim is to present a comprehensive review of the encoding-decodingbased control and filtering problems for different types of NSs.First, some basic introduction with respect to the coding-decoding mechanism is presented in terms of its engineering insights, specific properties and theoretical formulations. Then, the recent representative research progress in the design of the encodingdecoding protocols for various control and filtering problems is discussed. Some possible further research topics are finally outlined for the encoding-decoding-based NSs.展开更多

Now, there are many positive results in FDD for linear networked control systems (LNCSs), but nonlinear networked control systems (NNCSs) are less involved. Based on the T-S fuzzy-modeling theory, NNCSs are modeled and network random time-delays are changed into the unknown bounded uncertain part without changing its structure. Then a fuzzy state observer is designed and an observer-based fault detection approach for an NNCS is presented. The main results are given and the relative theories are proved in detail.
