Vitex negundo(V.negundo),an Indian herb with a rich historical background for the handling of various complaints,is a member of the Verbenaceae family and is characterized by small trees with pale gray bark.This herb is widely used and has been recognized in traditional medicine for its pharmacological effects on a wide range of diseases.All sections of the plant,but particularly the leaves,contain a variety of secondary metabolites,including alkaloids,phenols,flavonoids,glycoside iridoids,tannins,and terpenes.The system is included in a number of store-bought herbal preparations and has the potential to function as an efficient bio-committee.Cancer continues to be a major cause of death and morbidity in spite of the intervention.One of the leading causes of death is cancer,and current therapies can have unpleasant side effects.Unhindered reactions,resistance to traditional cancer medications,radiation therapy,chemotherapy,and restricted access to tumor tissue are some of the reasons why treatment frequently fails.To reduce side effects,increase chemotherapy sensitivity,and slow the spread of cancer,new approaches are required.Small food molecules have been suggested in numerous research as supplemental therapies for cancer patients.The effectiveness of the flavonoid-rich V.negundo extract in treating cancer was assessed mechanically in this investigation.Total flavonoids have been isolated for qualitative phytochemical investigation using V.negundo ethanolic extract.This article highlights significant developments in this field and explores how flavonoids contribute to the targeted suppression of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase-protein kinase B-mammalian target of rapamycin pathway in different cancer types. 展开更多

The volatile compounds from ash-leaf maple (Acer negundo L.) were examined by adsorption-thermodesorption and GC-MS. Thirty-two compounds, including alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, esters, terpenoids, carboxylic acids, etc. were identified. The analysis revealed that the diurnal rhythm of release of volatile compounds from maple differed in July and in August. In July, the releasing of most volatile compounds reached the peak at 14 o'clock, when in August, the emission of volatile compounds reached the peak at 10 o'clock. Besides diurnal rhythm, there also existed other differences in the releasing of volatiles and their relative contents in July and in August. A possible explanation for this phenomenon is the maturation of leaves, since the sampling conditions were the same both in July and August. At the same time, the response of Anoplophora glabrpennis Motschulsky to volatiles was examined with field bioassay with traps. cis-3-hexen-1-ol was found to be more effective to attract A. glabrpennis than other volatiles released by ash-leaf maple tree in field trapping test. A mixture of 1-butanol, 1-pentanol and 2-pentanol was tested to be the most attractive to A. glabripennis among all tested volatiles. More field trapping tests should be conducted. 展开更多

Objective:To investigate in vitro and in vivo antibacterial potentials of Vitex negundo(V. negundo) leaf extracts against diverse enteric pathogens.Methods:Water and methanol extracts of V.negundo leaves were evaluated against enteric bacterial pathogens by using standard disc diffusion,viable bacterial cell count methods,determination of minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentrations(MBC).Results:Methanol extract of V.negundo leaves showed potent antibacterial activity(inhibition zone:9.9-22.6 mm,MIC: 200-3 200μg/mL.MBC:200-6 400μg/mL) against all the pathogenic enteric bacteria(Vibrio cholerae.Vibrio parahemolyticus.Vibrio mimicus.Echerichia coli,Shigella spps.,and Aeromonas spps) tested.Methanol extract of V.negundo leaves showed potent bactericidal activity both in vitro laboratory conditions(MBC,200-400μg/mL) and in the intestinal environment(Dose,1-2 mg/mL) of infant mice against pathogenic Vibrio cholerae,the major causative agent of cholera. Furthermore,assays using the mice cholera model showed that V.negundo methanol extract can protect mice from Vibrio cholerae infection and significandy decrease the mortality rate(P【0.0001). Conclusions:For the first time we showed thal medianol extract of V.negundo leaves exhibited strong vihriocidal activity both in vitro and in vivo conditions.Therefore,it will he useful to identify and isolate the active compounds of this extract that could be a good alternative of antibiotics to treat cholera. 展开更多

Each animal received session of 15... In the present study we investigated the anti-amnesic activity of Vitex negundo in scopolamine induced amnesia in rats. Wistar rats (180-200 g) were trained on active avoidance task. Each animal received session of 15 trials with inter trial duration of 15 s for 5 days. Scopolamine (3 mg/kg, i.p) was administered at different time periods on the basis of stages of memory i.e acquisition, consolidation and retention in different groups (n = 6). Effect of Vitex negundo extract was evaluated and compared to a standard drug, Donepezil. Significant (p 【0.05) increase in the avoidance response on the 5th session has been observed as compared to 1st session in control group. Scopolamine treatment significantly (p 【0.05) reduced the avoidance response compared to control. Extract treated groups shown significant (p 【0.05) increase in number of avoidance responses as compared to scopolamine treated groups. Increased oxidative stress in brain after scopolamine treatment, as observed by increase in MDA &amp;decrease in GSH &amp;SOD, was lowered in the groups treated with extracts. AChE activity was also improved after V. negundo treatment. Results of the study have shown that V. negundo treated groups decrease the phenomenon of amnesia by increasing learning of memory through antioxidant effect and decreasing AChE activity. 展开更多

Cerium oxide nanoparticles(CeO_(2) NPs)are likely to have dramatic impacts on plant performances,yet the effects of CeO_(2) NPs on seed germination and seedling growth have not been fully explored.In this study,the seed germination and seedling growth of subshrub species Vitex negundo under different concentrations of CeO_(2) NPs(low-1 mg/L,medium-100 mg/L,high-500 mg/L)have been discussed.Results showed that:(1)The seed germination rate reduces by 11.25%and 2.5%under the low and medium concentrations of CeO_(2) NPs,respectively,but increased by 7.08%under the high concentration;(2)CeO_(2) NPs had significant effects on the growth traits(root length,shoot height and biomass)of seedlings,being the highest under the medium concentration and the lowest under the highest concentration;(3)The superoxide dismutase activity was the maximum(355.91 U/g),but the protein concentration was the minimum(3.85 ug/mL)under the high concentration of CeO_(2) NPs.Our results indicated that the effects of CeO_(2) NPs on seed germination and seedling growth are concentration-dependency,i.e.,low and medium concentrations inhibited while high concentration promoted seed germination,however,seedling growth showed opposite responses.Therefore,appropriate CeO_(2) NPs concentrations are beneficial to the seed germination and seedling growth of Vitex negundo and improve the physiological performance of seedlings and enhance their adaptability to environmental adversity. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the possible antifilarial effect of ethyl acetate extract of Vitex negundo(Verhenaceae)leaves against Selaria cervi filarial parasite in vitro.Methods:In vitro screening was done by the method of motility inhibition and NTT reduction assay with concentralions of0.03 to 1.00 mg/mL for 2 to 24 h incubation periods respectively,for possible antifilarial effect by comparing with control.Results:In motility assay,complete inhibition of motility was observed and in MTT reduction assay which gave>50%reduction for concentrations 0.20,0.50and 1.00 mg/mL at 10,6 and 2 h incubation periods respectively in a dose dependent manner(P<0.05).An antifilarial effect imparted by plant extract was found to be a function of their relative concentrations.Inhibitory concentration(IC_(50))for the plant extract was found to be 0.16mg/mL.Conclusions:The present study recorded significant antifilarial effect of Vitex negundo plant extract and contributed toward the development of database for novel drug candidates for lymphatic fllariasis. 展开更多

Field pull-out and laboratory tests were applied to investigate the effect of metal bolts and wire netting on plant root distribution and anchorage characteristics of 9-year-old Vitex negundo L. growing on a weakly weathered rocky slope (38°). Root number, length and diameter were recorded and single root specimens were classified and tested for tensile strength. The results show that root anchorage is different between the two constructions by bolts and wire. Under limited soil condition, root anchorage ability is 80% lower than when there is sufficient soil due to the reduction of the diameter and number of all second-order lateral roots, as well as the reduction of the tensile strength of the embedded second-order and first-order lateral roots on limited soil. We conclude that the distribution and anchorage of Vitex negundo L. is affected by limited soil availability on rocky slopes. 展开更多

Objective To map the potent antifungal properties of the medicinal plant Vitex negundo,in vitro and in silico studies were performed to decipher the pharmacokinetics and ADMET(Absorption,Distribution,Metabolism,Excretion,and Toxicity)properties of their phytoconstituents.Methods With the PASS(Prediction of Activity Spectra for Substances)prediction tool,many parameters of V.negundo phenolics were examined,including drug-likeness,bioavailability,antifungal activity,and anti-biofilm activity.Moreover,ADMET parameters were also determined.Results Eighteen phenolic compounds from V.negundo with significant antifungal activity against Candida species(human fungal pathogens)were detected.The antioxidant activity,inhibition percentage,and minimum inhibitory concentration value of V.negundo phenolic extracts indicate it as an effective antifungal agent for the treatment of candidiasis caused by the fungal pathogen Candida albicans.Many phenolic compounds showed a significantly high efficiency against Candida’s planktonic cells and biofilm condition.Conclusions The phenolics fraction of V.negundo has potent antifungal activities,however,some more pre-clinical studies are a matter of future research to further investigate V.negundo phenolic compound as a potential new antifungal arsenal. 展开更多

试验旨在探究荆条嫩枝叶对小尾寒羊生长性能、养分表观消化率、屠宰性能、肉品质及肌肉氨基酸含量的影响。选取120只4月龄左右、机体健康、平均体重为(33.49±1.74)kg的小尾寒羊公羊,随机分为4组,每组3个重复,每个重复10只羊。对照... 试验旨在探究荆条嫩枝叶对小尾寒羊生长性能、养分表观消化率、屠宰性能、肉品质及肌肉氨基酸含量的影响。选取120只4月龄左右、机体健康、平均体重为(33.49±1.74)kg的小尾寒羊公羊,随机分为4组,每组3个重复,每个重复10只羊。对照组饲喂基础饲粮(无荆条嫩枝叶),试验1组、试验2组、试验3组分别用10%、15%和25%的荆条嫩枝叶替代基础饲粮中部分粗饲料。预试期15d,正式试验期60d。结果显示,与对照组相比,各试验组小尾寒羊的末重和平均日增重显著升高(P<0.05),料重比显著降低(P<0.05)。与对照组相比,试验2组和试验3组的粗蛋白、粗纤维、中性洗涤纤维和酸性洗涤纤维表观消化率显著提高(P<0.05)。试验1组和试验2组的屠宰率显著高于对照组和试验3组(P<0.05),试验2组的胴体净肉率显著高于其他组(P<0.05)。试验3组肌肉中苯丙氨酸、缬氨酸、苏氨酸、亮氨酸、异亮氨酸、酪氨酸和组氨酸含量显著高于其他组(P<0.05),色氨酸、丙氨酸、丝氨酸含量极显著高于其他组(P<0.01)。试验组肌肉中半胱氨酸、天门冬氨酸和谷氨酸含量均显著高于对照组(P<0.05)。试验3组总氨基酸、必需氨基酸和鲜味氨基酸含量均显著高于其他组(P<0.05)。研究表明,荆条嫩枝叶可作为粗饲料改善小尾寒羊的生长性能和屠宰性能,增加肌肉氨基酸含量,添加量在15%时综合效果最佳。 展开更多

Hand.-Mazz.extract,VNE)对产气荚膜梭菌(Clostridium perfringens,CP)诱导坏死性肠炎(necrotic enteritis,NE)肉鸡生长性能、血清免疫球蛋白含量、免疫器官... 【目的】评价牡荆提取物(Vitex negundo L.var.cannabifolia(Sieb.et Zucc.) Hand.-Mazz.extract,VNE)对产气荚膜梭菌(Clostridium perfringens,CP)诱导坏死性肠炎(necrotic enteritis,NE)肉鸡生长性能、血清免疫球蛋白含量、免疫器官指数、肠道组织结构及炎性因子的影响。【方法】选取150只7日龄雄性岭南黄羽肉鸡,随机分为5组:空白对照组(CON)、感染组(INF)及低(L-VNE)、中(M-VNE)、高(H-VNE)剂量牡荆提取物组,每组3个重复,每个重复10只鸡。CON组肉鸡饲喂基础饲粮,INF、L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡饲喂高鱼粉饲粮。7―13日龄,L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡连续7 d分别灌胃4、8、12 g/(kg·d)牡荆提取物;10―13日龄,INF、L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡连续4 d灌胃5×10~9 CFU/d产气荚膜梭菌。分别于14、21日龄对试验肉鸡称重,计算平均日采食量(ADFI)、平均日增重(ADG)和料重比(F/G);称重后,每个重复随机取3只肉鸡采血,检测血清中免疫球蛋白(IgA、IgG)含量;采血后处死,取脾脏、胸腺和法氏囊称重,并计算免疫器官指数;利用肠道切片检查十二指肠、空肠和回肠的病理及形态变化,取小肠黏膜,分析肉鸡肠道中肿瘤坏死因子-α(TNF-α)、白细胞介素-8(IL-8)、IL-17A、IL-1β的表达量。【结果】(1)14日龄时,与INF组相比,L-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡的ADFI和ADG极显著或显著升高(P<0.01;P<0.05);H-VNE组肉鸡血清中IgG含量极显著升高(P<0.01)。(2)21日龄时,M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡脾脏指数极显著高于INF组(P<0.01)。(3)14日龄时,与INF组相比,M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡十二指肠绒毛高度(VH)极显著升高(P<0.01);L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡空肠和回肠VH、十二指肠绒毛高度与隐窝深度比(VH/CD)极显著或显著升高(P<0.01;P<0.05),十二指肠隐窝深度极显著降低(P<0.01);M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡空肠VH/CD显著或极显著升高(P<0.05;P<0.01);L-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡回肠VH/CD极显著升高(P<0.01)。21日龄时,与INF组相比,L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡十二指肠、空肠和回肠VH极显著或显著升高(P<0.01;P<0.05)。(4)14日龄时,与CON组相比,L-VNE、M-VNE、H-VNE组肉鸡肠道中IL-8基因表达水平极显著降低(P<0.01),M-VNE组肉鸡肠道中IL-1β基因表达水平显著降低(P<0.05)。【结论】岭南黄羽肉鸡感染产气荚膜梭菌后,在饲粮中添加牡荆提取物,可以提高其生长性能,提高血清中免疫球蛋白浓度,促进脾脏发育,减轻肠道病变和炎症反应,说明牡荆提取物对产气荚膜梭菌诱导的肉鸡坏死性肠炎具有预防作用。本试验条件下,连续7 d灌胃肉鸡8 g/(kg·d)牡荆提取物可以得到较好的预防效果。 展开更多

两种乡土植物用于重庆市采石场废弃地修复的适应性研究

以重庆市采石场废弃地自然修复为目标,选取乡土植物黄荆和马桑作为研究对象,通过盆栽控制试验,探究其在不同土层厚度及干旱胁迫下的适应性。结果表明,两种植物的发芽指标受干旱及土层厚度影响不显著;在短期干旱胁迫下,黄荆幼苗地上部分... 以重庆市采石场废弃地自然修复为目标,选取乡土植物黄荆和马桑作为研究对象,通过盆栽控制试验,探究其在不同土层厚度及干旱胁迫下的适应性。结果表明,两种植物的发芽指标受干旱及土层厚度影响不显著;在短期干旱胁迫下,黄荆幼苗地上部分生长未受抑制,但长期干旱胁迫会显著降低其伸长量,并促进地下生物量积累;马桑幼苗生长量随干旱加剧持续下降,但根冠比显著提高;两种植物的光合效率均随胁迫时间延长而降低,但深土层组降幅较小。总体来讲,黄荆与马桑均具备较强的抗旱性与瘠薄土壤适应能力,适用于重庆市采石场废弃地生态修复,但需要结合具体生境条件,优化种植策略。 展开更多

基于网络药理学和分子对接探究黄荆叶抗流感活性成分及作用机制

目的探究黄荆叶抗流感的活性成分及作用机制。方法先以细胞实验证明黄荆叶提取物抑制流感病毒在MDCK细胞中的复制作用,进一步通过网络药理学和分子对接分析其活性成分和作用机制。结果细胞实验显示,黄荆叶水提液和醇提液均能抑制流感病... 目的探究黄荆叶抗流感的活性成分及作用机制。方法先以细胞实验证明黄荆叶提取物抑制流感病毒在MDCK细胞中的复制作用,进一步通过网络药理学和分子对接分析其活性成分和作用机制。结果细胞实验显示,黄荆叶水提液和醇提液均能抑制流感病毒在MDCK细胞复制;网络药理学筛选得到44种黄荆叶活性成分,对应54个潜在靶点;蛋白质-蛋白质相互作用网络图显示蛋白激酶B、信号转导及转录激活蛋白3、表皮生长因子细胞增殖和信号转导的受体、雌激素受体1、前列腺素内过氧化物合酶、基质金属蛋白酶9为其核心靶点;GO分析得到分子功能15条、生物过程20条、细胞组成11条;KEGG富集分析得到NF-κB、细胞凋亡、血小板活化等抗病毒相关通路;分子对接显示艾黄素、木犀草素、Vitedoin B与MMP9结合稳定,山奈酚和Negundin A与PTGS2结合稳定。结论体外细胞实验表明,黄荆叶提取物对甲型H1N1病毒具有显著抑制作用,且醇提物效果优于水提物。黄荆叶通过多成分、多靶点、多通路的方式发挥其抗流感作用,本研究为黄荆叶抗流感作用机制的深入研究提供一定的基础和依据。 展开更多
