The relevance of det...As many chemicals with genotoxic potential are emitted to surface water, genotoxicity tests are gaining importance which led to the development of several techniques to detect directly DNA damage. The relevance of detecting the genotoxic risks associated with water pollution was firstly perceived in the late 1970s. Since that time several tests have been developed for evaluating DNA alterations in aquatic animals. These tests rely on the premise that any changes to DNA may have long-lasting and profound consequences. Sister chromatid test, chromosome aberrations, comet assay, and micronucleus test are currently the most widely employed methods to detect DNA lesions in ecotoxicology. Chromosomal aberration and sister chromatid exchanges are time consuming, resource intensive and require proliferating cell population. Hence, Comet assay and Micronucleus test as cost effective and more sensitive test systems have now been introduced for assessing the genotoxicity of chemicals. This review presents a synthesis of the state of the art in the methodologies of comet assay and micronucleus test and their contributions in aquatic environmental research. The text explores the latest knowledge and thinking on these very important approaches for the assessment of environmental health, management, and conservation. The primary concern of the present review is the measurement of genotoxic potential in aquatic organisms under field and laboratory conditions, where effects of chemicals at different levels of biological organization can be examined.展开更多

Natural gas hydrate (NGH)is considered as one of the new clean energy sources of the 21st century with the highest potential.The environmental issues of NGH production have attracted the close attention of scientists ...Natural gas hydrate (NGH)is considered as one of the new clean energy sources of the 21st century with the highest potential.The environmental issues of NGH production have attracted the close attention of scientists in various countries.From May 10 to July 9,2017,the first offshore NGH production test in the South China Sea (SCS)was conducted by the China Geological Survey.In addition,environmental security has also been effectively guaranteed via a comprehensive environmental monitoring system built during the NGH production test.The monitoring system considered sea-surface atmosphere methane and carbon dioxide concentrations,dissolved methane in the sea water column,and the seafloor physical oceanography and marine chemistry environment.The whole process was monitored via multiple means, in multiple layers,in all domains,and in real time.After the production test,an environmental investigation was promptly conducted to evaluate the environmental impact of the NGH production test. The monitoring results showed that the dissolved methane concentration in seawater and the near-seabed environment characteristics after the test were consistent with the background values,indicating that the NGH production test did not cause environmental problems such as methane leakage.展开更多

Soil P was analyzed using Bray-1 (BP), Olsen (OP), and Mehlich-3 (MP) methods as agronomic tests, and using Fe-oxide impregnated filter paper (FeP), anion-exchange resin membrane (RP), and water (WP) as environmental tests. There were linear relationships between soil P extractable with all the tests evaluated. The regression coefficients, R^2, ranged from 0.8164 to 0.9409 between each two of the agronomic soil test P, and ranged from 0.4702 to 0.8990 between each two of the environmental soil test P, when the three soils were considered separately. When soil test P was analyzed across all the three soils, the highest regression R^2 was found between OP and MP (0.7940) amongst agronomic soil test P, and between FeP and RP amongst environmental soil test P (0.8842). While all of the three agronomic soil test P was linearly related to each of the environmental soil test P across the three soils, strongest relationships were found between OP and environmental soil test P. Agronomic OP may be adopted as an analytical tool for environmental prediction of soil P.展开更多

Having observed increasing dangers to the environment po...The European Union(EU) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD) aim to develop long-term policies for their respective member countries. Having observed increasing dangers to the environment posed by rising economic growth, they are seeking pathways to enable policy action on economic growth and environmental sustainability. Given the facts in theoretical and empirical studies, this study assessed the validity of the decoupling hypothesis by investigating asymmetricity in the relationship between environmental sustainability and economic growth in nine Eastern European countries from 1998 to 2017 using the cross-section augmented Dickey-Fuller(CADF) unit root, panel corrected standard error(PCSE), common correlated effect mean group(CCEMG), and Dumitrescu Hurlin causality approaches. Both population growth and drinking water are used as controlled variables. The outcomes establish strong cointegration among all the variables of interest. According to the results of CCEMG test, economic growth exerts short-term environmental degradation but has long-term environmental benefits in Eastern Europe;and population growth and drinking water exert a positive effect on environmental sustainability in both the short-and long-run. The results of Dumitrescu Hurlin causality test indicate that environmental sustainability is unidirectionally affected by economic growth. Based on these outcomes, we suggest the following policies:(1) the EU and OECD should implement member-targeted policies on economic growth and fossil-fuel use towards regulating industrial pollution, water use, and population control;and(2) the EU and OECD member countries should invest in environmental technologies through green research and development(R&D) to transform their dirty industrial processes and ensure productive energy use.展开更多
Treatment of peat soil foundation in Yunnan surrounding Dianchi and Erhai Lakes poses complex problems for engineering projects.It is insufficient to rely on ordinary cement to reinforce peat soil.In order to make the...Treatment of peat soil foundation in Yunnan surrounding Dianchi and Erhai Lakes poses complex problems for engineering projects.It is insufficient to rely on ordinary cement to reinforce peat soil.In order to make the reinforcement reliable,this experiment mixed(ultrafine cement)UFC into ordinary cement to form a composite solidify agent.This study aimed to analyze the influence of UFC proportion on the strength of cement-soil in the peat soil environment.Unconfined compressive strength(UCS)and scanning electron microscope(SEM)tests were conducted on samples soaked for 28 and 90 days,respectively.The test results show that without considering the effects of Humic Acid(HA)and Fulvic Acid(FA),incorporating UFC can significantly improve the UCS of cement-soil.The rapid hydration of the fine particles generates a large number of cementitious products,improves the cohesion of the soil skeleton,and fills the pores.However,when the proportion of UFC increases,the aggregate structure formed by a larger quantity of fine particles reduces the hydration rate and degree of cement hydration,making the UCS growth rate of cement-soil insignificant.In the peat soil environment,HA significantly weakened the UCS of cement-soil in both physical and chemical aspects.However,UFC can mitigate the adverse effect of HA on cement-soil by its small particle size,high surface energy,and solid binding ability.In addition,FA has a positive effect on the UCS of cement-soil soaked for 28 days and 90 days.The UFC addition could promote the enhancement effect of FA on cement-soil UCS.SEM test results showed that cement hydration products increased significantly with the increase of UFC proportion,and cementation between hydration products and soil particles was enhanced.The size and connectivity of cement-soil pores were significantly reduced,thereby improving cement-soil structural integrity.展开更多
The integration of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)technology into railway train control systems is a crucial step toward achieving the vision of a digital railway.Traditional train control systems undergo ext...The integration of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)technology into railway train control systems is a crucial step toward achieving the vision of a digital railway.Traditional train control systems undergo extensive in-house tests and prolonged field tests for certification and approval before operational deployment,leading to high costs,delays,and operational disruptions.This paper introduces a GNSS-based train control localization framework which eliminates the need for on-site testing by leveraging train movement dynamics and 3D environment modeling to create a zero on-site testing platform.The proposed framework simulates train movement and the surrounding 3D environment using collected railway line location data and environmental attributes to generate realistic multipath signals and obscuration effects.This approach enables comprehensive laboratory-based case studies for train localization,reducing the huge amount test of needed for physical field trials.The framework is established in house,using the data collected at the Test Base of China Academy of Railway Sciences(Circular Railway).Results from the open area and cutting environment tests demonstrate high localization accuracy repeatability within the simulated environment,validating the feasibility and effectiveness of zero on-site testing for GNSS-based train control systems.This research highlights the potential of GNSS simulation platforms in enhancing cost efficiency,operational safety,and accuracy for future digital railways.展开更多
To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current status of water environment quality in Yilong Lake,a systematic study was undertaken to characterize the evolution of water quality.This study utilized monthly data o...To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current status of water environment quality in Yilong Lake,a systematic study was undertaken to characterize the evolution of water quality.This study utilized monthly data on water quality indicators collected from three monitoring sections of Yilong Lake between 2016 and 2023,employing the Mann-Kendall trend test and ArcGIS spatial interpolation technique.The results indicated that the five-day biochemical oxygen demand(BOD5),total nitrogen(TN),and chlorophyll a(Chla)exhibited an overall increasing trend,whereas other indicators demonstrated a decreasing trend.The permanganate index(PI),chemical oxygen demand(COD),TN,and Chla were observed in the following order:east of the lake>middle of the lake>west of the lake.In contrast,the BOD5 and total phosphorus(TP)were ranked as west of the lake>east of the lake>middle of the lake.Additionally,ammonia nitrogen(NH3-N)was found to be in the order of east of the lake>west of the lake>middle of the lake,while transparency was ranked as west of the lake>middle of the lake>east of the lake.Urban domestic sewage,effluent from industrial parks,domestic waste generated by rural residents’production and daily activities,agricultural waste,wastewater from decentralized farming,domestic sewage,and point source discharges from the soybean processing industry are the primary contributors to the exceedance of water quality standards.The enhancement of a precise pollution control system,along with the regulation of pollution sources and the interception of pollutants,can significantly diminish the pollution load entering the lake.This approach is essential for the protection and restoration of river and lake ecosystems,thereby facilitating the gradual recovery of their ecological functions.Additionally,the implementation of ecological water replenishment and the recycling of water resources can improve the capacity of the water environment.Furthermore,bolstering scientific and technological support,as well as comprehensive supervision and assurance measures,is crucial to ensuring that water quality remains stable and adheres to established standards.展开更多

文摘The integration of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)technology into railway train control systems is a crucial step toward achieving the vision of a digital railway.Traditional train control systems undergo extensive in-house tests and prolonged field tests for certification and approval before operational deployment,leading to high costs,delays,and operational disruptions.This paper introduces a GNSS-based train control localization framework which eliminates the need for on-site testing by leveraging train movement dynamics and 3D environment modeling to create a zero on-site testing platform.The proposed framework simulates train movement and the surrounding 3D environment using collected railway line location data and environmental attributes to generate realistic multipath signals and obscuration effects.This approach enables comprehensive laboratory-based case studies for train localization,reducing the huge amount test of needed for physical field trials.The framework is established in house,using the data collected at the Test Base of China Academy of Railway Sciences(Circular Railway).Results from the open area and cutting environment tests demonstrate high localization accuracy repeatability within the simulated environment,validating the feasibility and effectiveness of zero on-site testing for GNSS-based train control systems.This research highlights the potential of GNSS simulation platforms in enhancing cost efficiency,operational safety,and accuracy for future digital railways.
文摘To conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current status of water environment quality in Yilong Lake,a systematic study was undertaken to characterize the evolution of water quality.This study utilized monthly data on water quality indicators collected from three monitoring sections of Yilong Lake between 2016 and 2023,employing the Mann-Kendall trend test and ArcGIS spatial interpolation technique.The results indicated that the five-day biochemical oxygen demand(BOD5),total nitrogen(TN),and chlorophyll a(Chla)exhibited an overall increasing trend,whereas other indicators demonstrated a decreasing trend.The permanganate index(PI),chemical oxygen demand(COD),TN,and Chla were observed in the following order:east of the lake>middle of the lake>west of the lake.In contrast,the BOD5 and total phosphorus(TP)were ranked as west of the lake>east of the lake>middle of the lake.Additionally,ammonia nitrogen(NH3-N)was found to be in the order of east of the lake>west of the lake>middle of the lake,while transparency was ranked as west of the lake>middle of the lake>east of the lake.Urban domestic sewage,effluent from industrial parks,domestic waste generated by rural residents’production and daily activities,agricultural waste,wastewater from decentralized farming,domestic sewage,and point source discharges from the soybean processing industry are the primary contributors to the exceedance of water quality standards.The enhancement of a precise pollution control system,along with the regulation of pollution sources and the interception of pollutants,can significantly diminish the pollution load entering the lake.This approach is essential for the protection and restoration of river and lake ecosystems,thereby facilitating the gradual recovery of their ecological functions.Additionally,the implementation of ecological water replenishment and the recycling of water resources can improve the capacity of the water environment.Furthermore,bolstering scientific and technological support,as well as comprehensive supervision and assurance measures,is crucial to ensuring that water quality remains stable and adheres to established standards.
