Based on the multilayer structure, we find that due to the existence of inherent losses, the decoupling of hyperbolic modes(HMs) after changing the filling ratio leads to suppression of heat flow near the surface mode resonance frequency. It complements the physical landscape of enhancement of near-field radiative heat transfer by HMs and more surface states supported by multiple surfaces. More importantly, considering the difficulty of accurate preparation at the nanoscale, we introduce the disorder factor to describe the magnitude of the random variation of the layer thickness of the multilayer structure and then explore the effect on heat transfer when the layer thickness is slightly different from the exact value expected. We find that the near-field radiative heat flux decreases gradually as the disorder increases because of interlayer energy localization. However, the reduction in heat transfer does not exceed an order of magnitude, although the disorder is already very large. At the same time, the regulation effect of the disorder on NFRHT is close to that of the same degree of filling ratio, which highlights the importance of disordered systems. This work qualitatively describes the effect of disorder on heat transfer and provides instructive data for the fabrication of NFRHT devices.展开更多

According to current landfill design procedures, conducting stability analysis along the same interface at both the back slope and base may result in a non-conservative result. The critical interfaces with the minimum factor of safety are generally found at different locations along the back slope and base. The critical interface for a multilayer liner system cannot simply be assumed during stability analysis. It can shift from one interface to another with changes in the leachate level and with different leachate buildup cases. The factor of safety for an interface with a high friction angle and low apparent cohesion generally drops much more quickly than it does under inverse conditions when the leachate level increases. The failure interface in a liner system under residual conditions is usually different from the failure interface under peak conditions.展开更多

In this paper a scalable class of interconnection network of Hex-Cell for massively parallel systems is introduced. It is called Multilayer Hex-Cell (MLH). A node addressing scheme and routing algorithm are also presented and discussed. An interesting feature of the proposed MLH is that it maintains a constant network degree regardless of the increase in the network size degree which facilitates modularity in building blocks of scalable systems. The new addressing node scheme makes the proposed routing algorithm simple and efficient in terms of that it needs a minimum number of calculations to reach the destination node. Moreover, the diameter of the proposed MLH is less than Hex-Cell network.展开更多

We fashioned a multilayer cylindrical implant termed STID100 that released doxorubicin for 3 weeks in an orthotopic 4T1 breast cancer model in Balb/C mice. This implant starts as a thin doxorubicin-embedded PLGA membrane, and is then rolled into a cylinder containing an air gap between the membrane layers. Its controlled sustained release delivered 2× the amount of the intravenous (IV) equivalent of doxorubicin, inhibited the primary tumor, and prevented lung metastasis. Importantly it did not cause weight loss, splenomegaly, or cardiac toxicity vs systemically administrated doxorubicin. This favorable safety profile is further substantiated by the finding of no detectable plasma doxorubicin in multiple time points during the 3-week period, and low tumor doxorubicin concentration. The implant system delivered to the specification of an ideal pharmacological paradigm might offer a better coverage of the local tumor, significantly preventing metastatic spread with less drug toxicity to many vital organs, compared to the traditional pharmacology of IV route. The profile of STID made it an attractive therapeutic alternative in metastatic tumor prevention, pain management and many other diverse clinical scenarios.展开更多

It is an intermediate system between the single-layer barotropic model and the continuously stratified baroclinic model. Since this system can simulate the baroclinic effect simply, it is widely used to study the large-scale dynamic process in atmosphere and ocean. The present paper is concerned with the linear stability of the multilayer quasi-geostrophic flow, and the associated linear stability criteria are established. Firstly, the nonlinear model is turned into the form of a Hamiltonian system, and a basic flow is defined. But it cannot be an extreme point of the Hamiltonian function since the system is an infinite-dimensional one. Therefore, it is necessary to reconstruct a new Hamiltonian function so that the basic flow becomes an extreme point of it. Secondly, the linearized equations of disturbances in the multilayer quasi-geostrophic flow are derived by introducing infinitesimal disturbances superposed on the basic flows. Finally, the properties of the linearized system are discussed, and the linear stability criteria in the sense of Liapunov are derived under two different conditions with respect to certain norms.展开更多

文摘An efficient and accurate method for computing the equilibriurn reduced density matrix is presented for treating open quantum systems characterized by the systern-bath model. The method employs the rnultilayer nmlticonfiguration tirne-dependent Hartree theory for imag- inary time propagation and an importance sampling procedure for calculating the quantum mechanical trace. The method is applied to the spin-boson Harniltonian, which leads to ac- curate results in agreement with those produced by the rnulti-electronic-state path integral molecular dynamics method.

文摘Multicomponent superconductors exhibit nontrivial vortex behaviors due to the various vortex–vortex interactions, including the competing one in the recently proposed type-1.5 superconductor. However, potential candidate that can be used to study the multicomponent superconductivity is rare. Here,we prepared an artificial superconducting multilayer to act as an alternative approach to study multicomponent superconductivity. The additional repulsive length and the coupling strength among superconducting films were regulated by changing the thickness of the insulting layer. The magnetization measurements were performed to clarify the effect of the competition between the repulsive vortex interactions on the macroscopic superconductivity. The vortex phase diagram and the optimum critical current density have been determined.Furthermore,a second magnetization effect is observed, and is attributed to the upper layer, which provides the weak pinning sites to localize the flux lines. The pinning behaviors switches to the mixed type with the increase of the insulting layer thicknesses. Our results open a new perspective to the study and related applications of the multilayer superconducting systems.
文摘Scalability is an important issue in the design of interconnection networks for massively parallel systems. Moreover, the diameter of the proposed MLH is less than Hex-Cell network.

文摘Valley Nernst effect is a newly proposed and experimentally confirmed effect, which could be used to design novel thermoelectric devices. We study the valley Nernst effect in(M+N)-layer twisted multilayer graphene systems by a simple low-energy effective model. It is found that the total valley Nernst coefficient(VNC)is three orders of magnitude larger than that in monolayer group-Ⅵdichalcogenides.The total VNC increases with the increase of layer numbers. It is shown that the total VNC exhibits a structure with three peaks as a function of the Fermi energy. We identify that the central peak is always negative stemming from the flat band. Two shoulder peaks are positively induced by the conduction and valence bands, respectively. These predicted features can be tested experimentally. The present work would shed more light on valley caloritronics.
文摘We hypothesize that a cylinder implant made of multilayer Poly-lactic-co-glycolic-acid (PLGA) membrane can be a method for controlled and extended drug release. The profile of STID made it an attractive therapeutic alternative in metastatic tumor prevention, pain management and many other diverse clinical scenarios.

文摘A multilayer flow is a stratified fluid composed of a finite number of layers with densities homogeneous within one layer but different from each other. Finally, the properties of the linearized system are discussed, and the linear stability criteria in the sense of Liapunov are derived under two different conditions with respect to certain norms.

文摘This work focus on the stress distribution of the casing-cement-formation(CCF)multilayer composite system, which is a borehole system with multiple casings and cement sheathes.Mostof the previous relevant studies are based on the traditional CCF system with the single casing and cement sheath, but these results are not adaptive to the CCF system multiple composite system. In this paper, the FEM numerical model of CCF multilayer composite system was constructed.Numerical simulations were calculated and compared with the system which consists of the single casing and cement sheath. Results show that the multilayer composite system possesses better performance. On this basis, the sensitivity analysis of main influence mechanical parameters such as in-situ stress, the elastic of cement sheathes and the elastic of formation are conducted. The cement sheath on the inside, namely cement sheath-1,is sensitive to its elastic modulus;meanwhile, the cement sheath on the outside, namely cement sheath-2,is not so sensitive to the elastic modulus of cement sheath-1.Cement sheath-1 and cement sheath-2 are all sensitive to the elastic modulus of cement sheath-2,and the mises stress of them has opposite trend to the elastic modulus of cement sheath-2.The proper values of elastic modulus of cement sheath-1 and cement sheath-2 are 5GPa and 5GPa to 30GPa,respectively.Under the in-situ stress ratio σh/σH=0.7,the maximum mises stress of cementsheath-1 and cement sheath-2 increase as the increase of σh,and they are nearly equal when σh=15GPa.This research can be helpful for the design and analysis of CCF multilayer composite system.

文摘Lightweight,high-strength,and heat-resistant protective structures have consistently been crucial for applications in extreme environments, such as aerospace, semiconductors, and nuclear power industries.Multilayered TC4/TB8 titanium(Ti)laminates, inspired by theheterostructures of natural biological shells, were fabricated using a hybrid diffusion bonding-hot rolling process followed by an aging treatment, resulting in an architected micro structure. The laminate achieves an ultra-high yield stress of 1020 MPa and proper uniform elongation of 4.2%at 500℃.The TB8 layers with high-density nano-precipitates and dislocations act as hard zone, contributing to high strength. The TC4 layers, with their bimodal structure consisting of coarse and fine grains characterized by equiaxed and lamellar structures, experience more plastic strain than the TB8 layers. The hetero deformation associated with the detwinning ofαgrains in the TC4 layer induces toughening at high temperatures.

文摘To overcome the shortage of complex equipment, large volume, and high energy consumption in space capsule manufacturing,a novel sliding pressure Joule heat fuse additive manufacturing technique with reduced volume and low energy consumption was proposed. But the unreasonable process parameters may lead to the inferior consistency of the forming quality of single-channel multilayer in Joule heat additive manufacturing process, and it is difficult to reach the condition for forming thinwalled parts.Orthogonal experiments were designed to fabricate single-channel multilayer samples with varying numbers of layers, and their forming quality was evaluated. The influence of printing current, forming speed, and contact pressure on the forming quality of the single-channel multilayer was analyzed. The optimal process parameters were obtained and the quality characterization of the experiment results was conducted. Results show that the printing current has the most significant influence on the forming quality of the single-channel multilayer.Under the optimal process parameters, the forming section is well fused and the surface is continuously smooth. The surface roughness of a single-channel 3-layer sample is 0.16μm,and the average Vickers hardness of cross section fusion zone is 317 HV,which lays a foundation for the subsequent use of Joule heat additive manufacturing technique to form thinwall parts.
