To meet the requirements of electromagnetic(EM)theory and applied physics,this study presents an overview of the state-of-the-art research on obtaining the EM properties of media and points out potential solutions that can break through the bottlenecks of current methods.Firstly,based on the survey of three mainstream approaches for acquiring EM properties of media,we identify the difficulties when implementing them in realistic environments.With a focus on addressing these problems and challenges,we propose a novel paradigm for obtaining the EM properties of multi-type media in realistic environments.Particularly,within this paradigm,we describe the implementation approach of the key technology,namely“multipath extraction using heterogeneous wave propagation data in multi-spectrum cases”.Finally,the latest measurement and simulation results show that the EM properties of multi-type media in realistic environments can be precisely and efficiently acquired by the methodology proposed in this study. 展开更多

In order to address the challenges encountered in visual navigation for asteroid landing using traditional point features,such as significant recognition and extraction errors,low computational efficiency,and limited navigation accuracy,a novel approach for multi-type fusion visual navigation is proposed.This method aims to overcome the limitations of single-type features and enhance navigation accuracy.Analytical criteria for selecting multi-type features are introduced,which simultaneously improve computational efficiency and system navigation accuracy.Concerning pose estimation,both absolute and relative pose estimation methods based on multi-type feature fusion are proposed,and multi-type feature normalization is established,which significantly improves system navigation accuracy and lays the groundwork for flexible application of joint absolute-relative estimation.The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method are validated through simulation experiments through 4769 Castalia. 展开更多

Early identification of scientific breakthroughs through outlier analysis based on research entities

Purpose:To address the“anomalies”that occur when scientific breakthroughs emerge,this study focuses on identifying early signs and nascent stages of breakthrough innovations from the perspective of outliers,aiming to achieve early identification of scientific breakthroughs in papers.Design/methodology/approach:This study utilizes semantic technology to extract research entities from the titles and abstracts of papers to represent each paper’s research content.Outlier detection methods are then employed to measure and analyze the anomalies in breakthrough papers during their early stages.The development and evolution process are traced using literature time tags.Finally,a case study is conducted using the key publications of the 2021 Nobel Prize laureates in Physiology or Medicine.Findings:Through manual analysis of all identified outlier papers,the effectiveness of the proposed method for early identifying potential scientific breakthroughs is verified.Research limitations:The study’s applicability has only been empirically tested in the biomedical field.More data from various fields are needed to validate the robustness and generalizability of the method.Practical implications:This study provides a valuable supplement to current methods for early identification of scientific breakthroughs,effectively supporting technological intelligence decision-making and services.Originality/value:The study introduces a novel approach to early identification of scientific breakthroughs by leveraging outlier analysis of research entities,offering a more sensitive,precise,and fine-grained alternative method compared to traditional citation-based evaluations,which enhances the ability to identify nascent breakthrough innovations. 展开更多

The task assignment problem of multiple heterogeneous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), concerned with cooperative decision making and control, is studied in this paper. The heterogeneous vehicles have different operational capabilities and kinematic constraints, and carry limited resources (e.g., weapons) onboard. They are designated to perform multiple consecutive tasks cooperatively on multiple ground targets. The problem becomes much more complicated because of these terms of heterogeneity. In order to tackle the challenge, we modify the former genetic algorithm with multi-type genes to stochastically search a best solution. Genes of chromo- somes are different, and they are assorted into several types according to the tasks that must be performed on targets. Different types of genes are processed specifically in the improved genetic operators including initialization, crossover, and mutation. We also present a mirror representation of vehicles to deal with the limited resource constraint. Feasible chromosomes that vehicles could perform tasks using their limited resources under the assignment are created and evolved by genetic operators. The effect of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated in numerical simulations. The results show that it effectively provides good feasible solutions and finds an optimal one. 展开更多

The time dependent vehicle routing problem with time windows(TDVRPTW) is considered. A multi-type ant system(MTAS) algorithm hybridized with the ant colony system(ACS)and the max-min ant system(MMAS) algorithms is proposed. This combination absorbs the merits of the two algorithms in solutions construction and optimization separately. In order to improve the efficiency of the insertion procedure, a nearest neighbor selection(NNS) mechanism, an insertion local search procedure and a local optimization procedure are specified in detail. And in order to find a balance between good scouting performance and fast convergence rate, an adaptive pheromone updating strategy is proposed in the MTAS. Computational results confirm the MTAS algorithm's good performance with all these strategies on classic vehicle routing problem with time windows(VRPTW) benchmark instances and the TDVRPTW instances, and some better results especially for the number of vehicles and travel times of the best solutions are obtained in comparison with the previous research. 展开更多

Nd-F species in NdF3-LiF melts were studied using cryoscopic method.Liquidus temperatures of melts of various compositions were determined by differential thermal analysis(DTA).Based on the different model calculations,NdF4- was identified as the most likely Nd-F entity in the melts in which the mole fraction of NdF3 was lower than 20%,considering only one single Nd species in the melt,and which was formed in accordance with Temkin model or Flood model.Then,activities of different components in the melts were researched.The results show that activity of LiF decreases,and that of NdF3 increases with increasing the mole fraction of NdF3.The value of activity coefficient of NdF3 is higher than 1,and that of LiF is lower than 1. 展开更多

As a representative technique in natural language processing(NLP),named entity recognition is used in many tasks,such as dialogue systems,machine translation and information extraction.In dialogue systems,there is a common case for named entity recognition,where a lot of entities are composed of numbers,and are segmented to be located in different places.For example,in multiple rounds of dialogue systems,a phone number is likely to be divided into several parts,because the phone number is usually long and is emphasized.In this paper,the entity consisting of numbers is named as number entity.The discontinuous positions of number entities result from many reasons.We find two reasons from real-world dialogue systems.The first reason is the repetitive confirmation of different components of a number entity,and the second reason is the interception of mood words.The extraction of number entities is quite useful in many tasks,such as user information completion and service requests correction.However,the existing entity extraction methods cannot extract entities consisting of discontinuous entity blocks.To address these problems,in this paper,we propose a comprehensive method for number entity recognition,which is capable of extracting number entities in multiple rounds of dialogues systems.We conduct extensive experiments on a real-world dataset,and the experimental results demonstrate the high performance of our method. 展开更多

Multi-type sensor placement and response reconstruction for building structures: Experimental investigations 被引量:4

Estimation of lateral displacement and acceleration responses is essential to assess safety and serviceability of high-rise buildings under dynamic loadings including earthquake excitations. However, the measurement information from the limited number of sensors installed in a building structure is often insufficient for the complete structural performance assessment. An integrated multi-type sensor placement and response reconstruction method has thus been proposed by the authors to tackle this problem. To validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, an experimental investigation using a cantilever beam with multi-type sensors is performed and reported in this paper. The experimental setup is first introduced. The finite element modelling and model updating of the cantilever beam are then performed. The optimal sensor placement for the best response reconstruction is determined by the proposed method based on the updated FE model of the beam. After the sensors are installed on the physical cantilever beam, a number of experiments are carried out. The responses at key locations are reconstructed and compared with the measured ones. The reconstructed responses achieve a good match with the measured ones, manifesting the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. Besides, the proposed method is also examined for the cases of different excitations and unknown excitation, and the results prove the proposed method to be robust and effective. The superiority of the optimized sensor placement scheme is finally demonstrated through comparison with two other different sensor placement schemes: the accelerometer-only scheme and non-optimal sensor placement scheme. The proposed method can be applied to high-rise buildings for seismic performance assessment. 展开更多

However, contents of target entities for assessment are various, and it is very difficult to define the whole scope of TQM. On the other hand, it is very important to define the whole target entities of quality management about the TQM because lack of important target entities may cause significant risk of loss in future. Furthermore, target entities of TQM should correspond to needs and priority of an objective requirement and that should be based on the consideration of basic principle of quality management. In the previous study, we have proposed the “framework of new TQM” of assessment for a total quality management of organizations based on the original concept of “TQM matrix”. On the other hand, we have proposed the view point of “Three-Dimensional Unification Value Models” for an evaluation of system product. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the target entities of whole assessment of quality management of organization totally based on the consideration of “New TQM framework” and the view point of “Three-Dimensional Unification Value Models”. Also, this paper proposes the result of verification based on the result of comparison between proposed target entities of assessment and American Malcolm Baldrige Prize for Performance Excellence. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to explore the relevance of adopting International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for small and medium-sized entities (SMEs) in Swaziland. The study further seeks to determine if IFRS for SMEs can be the solution to better reporting by local SMEs. There has been a growing need for different reporting standards for small firms and big firms over the years due to the unique challenges and attributes they face especially in the area of financial reporting. This research is based on a statistical analysis of questionnaires completed by accountants from SMEs in Swaziland as well as other stakeholders who have a direct or an indirect interest in the financial statements of SMEs. These stakeholders included audit firms and the financial institutions. The sampling rate of 10% was applied across each industry to come up with a sample of 60 SMEs. Furthermore, a 100% sampling rate on the other stakeholders was applied. These were nine financial institutions and eight audit finns. The findings from the study revealed that SMEs in Swaziland are having challenges with the current reporting framework but to some extent, the framework is suitable. Most SMEs are not aware of IFRS for SMEs, therefore the accounting profession in Swaziland (SIA) has a huge role to play in training auditors and accountants in the country. Overall, IFRS for SMEs is applicable in Swaziland. 展开更多

Research on Financial Support for the New Types of Agricultural Management Entities from the Perspective of the Rural Revitalization Strategy 被引量:1

Both the escape from the predicament of traditional financial support in rural areas and the cultivation of new types of agricultural management entities underlie,at a micro level,the improvement of a new-type of agricultural management system,and offer an important guarantee for the implementation of a rural revitalization strategy.In reference to the demands of carrying out reform,activating factors,invigorating entities and stimulating markets during the implementation of this rural revitalization strategy,we are applying a financing preference theory that infers and analyzes the excessive preference for new-type agricultural management entities(family farms,specialized farmer cooperatives,specialized large family farms,and modern agricultural enterprises)regarding government subsidies(quasi-equity financing).Our analysis has identified crucial factors in the issue and predicts that government subsidies(quasi-equity financing)will crowd out financial support funding(quasi-debt financing),and we offer empirical proof obtained through statistical modeling.As our results indicate,financing costs,free cash flows,and the perceived income adequacy(PIA)of new-type agricultural management entities all have significant influence upon decision-making for debt financing by such entities.Therefore,with the concrete contents of the formulation of policies concerning the financial support for rural agricultural strategy,one not only needs to consider the further decrease of financing costs,but also should take into account both the designing of cash flow mechanism in the process of paying both principal and interest,and the improvement of bankruptcy rules for agricultural management entities to accelerate the transformation of family farms,specialized farmer cooperatives,and specialized large family farms,towards modern agricultural enterprises.Meanwhile,upgrades to the supply chains of the agriculture industry,improvements to the construction of the rural financial information system,building an accounting system that meets the requirements of the rural revitalization strategy,and giving full play to the policies for financial support,which assume an important role in activating factors and markets during the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy,are also anticipated. 展开更多

These methods and statistical method... One of the most useful Information Extraction (IE) solutions to Web information harnessing is Named Entity Recognition (NER). Hand-coded rule methods are still the best performers. These methods and statistical methods exploit Natural Language Processing (NLP) features and characteristics (e.g. Capitalization) to extract Named Entities (NE) like personal and company names. For entities with multiple sub-entities of higher cardinality (e.g. linux command, citation) and which are non-speech, these systems fail to deliver efficiently. Promising Machine Learning (ML) methods would require large amounts of training examples which are impossible to manually produce. We call these entities Named High Cardinality Entities (NHCEs). We propose a sequence validation based approach for the extraction and validation of NHCEs. In the approach, sub-entities of NHCE candidates are statistically and structurally characterized during top-down annotation process and guided to transformation into either value types (v-type) or user-defined types (u-type) using a ML model. Treated as sequences of sub-entities, NHCE candidates with transformed sub-entities are then validated (and subsequently labeled) using a series of validation operators. We present a case study to demonstrate the approach and show how it helps to bridge the gap between IE and Intelligent Systems (IS) through the use of transformed sub-entities in supervised learning. 展开更多
