However, accurately distinguishing the MA contributions of different scale factors and tuning the optimal combined effects remains a formidable challenge. This study employs a synergistic approach combining template protection etching and vacuum annealing to construct a controlled system of micrometer-sized cavities and amorphous carbon matrices in metal-organic framework (MOF) derivatives. The results demonstrate that the spatial effects introduced by the hollow structure enhance dielectric loss but significantly weaken impedance matching. By increasing the proportion of amorphous carbon, the balance between electromagnetic loss and impedance matching can be effectively maintained. Importantly, in a suitable graphitization environment, the presence of oxygen vacancies in amorphous carbon can induce significant polarization to compensate for the reduced conductivity loss due to the absence of sp2 carbon. Through the synergistic effects of morphology and composition, the samples exhibit a broader absorption bandwidth (6.28 GHz) and stronger reflection loss (−61.64 dB) compared to the original MOF. In conclusion, this study aims to elucidate the multiscale impacts of macroscopic micro-nano structure and microscopic defect engineering, providing valuable insights for future research in this field.展开更多

In the composite frame structure, the fiber winding angle at the micro-material scale and the geometrical parameter of components of the frame in the macro-structural scale are introduced as the independent variables on the two geometrical scales. Considering manufacturing requirements, discrete fiber winding angles are specified for the micro design variable. The improved Heaviside penalization discrete material optimization interpolation scheme has been applied to achieve the discrete optimization design of the fiber winding angle. An optimization model based on the minimum structural compliance and the specified fiber material volume constraint has been established. The sensitivity information about the two geometrical scales design variables are also deduced considering the characteristics of discrete fiber winding angles. The optimization results of the fiber winding angle or the macro structural topology on the two single geometrical scales, together with the concurrent two-scale optimization, is separately studied and compared in the paper. Numerical examples in the paper show that the concurrent multi-scale optimization can further explore the coupling effect between the macro-structure and micro-material of the composite to achieve an ultralight design of the composite frame structure. The novel two geometrical scales optimization model provides a new opportunity for the design of composite structure in aerospace and other industries.展开更多

By examining the post-expansion SET, lots of microcracks are found on the inner surface of SET. Their morphology and parameters such as length and depth are investigated by use of metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In addition, the Voronoi cell technique is adopted to characterize the multi-phase material microstructure of the SET. By using the anisotropic elastoplastic material constitutive model and macro/microscopic multi-dimensional cross-scale coupled boundary conditions, a sophisticated and multi-scale finite element model (FEM) of the SET is built successfully to simulate the material microstructure damage for different expansion ratios. The microcrack initiation and growth is simulated, and the structural integrity of the SET is discussed. It is concluded that this multi-scale finite element modeling method could effectively predict the elastoplastic deformation and the microscopic damage initiation and evolution of the SET. It is of great significance as a theoretical analysis tool to optimize the selection of appropriate tubular materials and it could be also used to substantially reduce costly failures of expandable tubulars in the field. This numerical analysis is not only beneficial for understanding the damage process of tubular materials but also effectively guides the engineering application of the SET technology.展开更多

A multi-scale approach that combined the methods of continuum mechanics and dislocationkinetics was used. This model takes account of the different mechanisms of self-locking superdislocations, the dislocationsand the dislocation walls' density storage for each type of layer at the micro-scale. At the meso-scale, the solutions to thedislocation kinetics equations, in the form of stress-strain curves, were used to create the properties of a three-dimensionalrepresentative element. The numerical simulation study of the macroscopic deformation was carried out with the finiteelement method using the dynamic model of continuum mechanics, which included the classical conservation laws, constitutive equations and the equation of state. It was shown that the simulation results generated using this model were ingood agreement with the mechanical tests conducted on the single crystals of the L12 structure. The model provides anexcellent description of the high-temperature plastic strain superlocalization effect of single crystal intermetallics of theLI2 structure. This paper describes the numerical results of the study of the tension and compression tests of metal-intermetallic laminate composites containing phases of the L12 structure. The model allows the description of the dis-tribution of the accumulated plastic strain inhomogeneities and is capable of predicting the strengthening properties andplastic behaviour of the metal-intermetallic laminate composites containing phases of the L12 structure.展开更多

In fact, particles in thi</span>s framework are presenting a large mass composed of huge collection of atoms and are interacting with each other. We can start from cohesive energy of metallic atoms and basic crystalline unit (e.g. face-centered cubic). Then, we can reach to interparticle (macroscopic) potential function which is presented by the analytical equation with terms of exponent of inter-particle distance, like a Lennard-Jones potential usually used in molecular dynamics simulation. Equation of motion for these macroscopic particles has dissipative term and fluctuation term, as well as the conservative term above, in order to express finite temperature condition. First, we determine the parameters needed in macroscopic potential function and check the reproduction of mechanical behavior in elastic regime. By using the present framework, we are able to carry out uniaxial loading simulation of aluminum rod. The method can also reproduce Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio as elastic behavior, though the result shows the dependency on division number of particles. Then, we proceed to try to include plasticity in this multi-scale framework. As a result, a realistic curve of stress-strain relation can be obtained for tensile and compressive loading and this new and simple framework of materials modeling has been confirmed to have certain effectiveness to be used in materials simulations. We also assess the effect of the order of loadings in opposite directions including yield and plastic states and find that an irreversible behavior depends on different response of the particle system between tensile and compressive loadings.展开更多

文摘A nonlinear multi-scale interaction(NMI)model was proposed and developed by the first author for nearly 30 years to represent the evolution of atmospheric blocking. In this review paper,we first review the creation and development of the NMI model and then emphasize that the NMI model represents a new tool for identifying the basic physics of how climate change influences mid-to-high latitude weather extremes. The building of the NMI model took place over three main periods. In the 1990s,a nonlinear Schr?dinger(NLS)equation model was presented to describe atmospheric blocking as a wave packet;however,it could not depict the lifetime(10-20 days)of atmospheric blocking. In the 2000s,we proposed an NMI model of atmospheric blocking in a uniform basic flow by making a scale-separation assumption and deriving an eddyforced NLS equation. This model succeeded in describing the life cycle of atmospheric blocking. In the 2020s,the NMI model was extended to include the impact of a changing climate mainly by altering the basic zonal winds and the magnitude of the meridional background potential vorticity gradient(PVy).Model results show that when PVy is smaller, blocking has a weaker dispersion and a stronger nonlinearity,so blocking can be more persistent and have a larger zonal scale and weaker eastward movement, thus favoring stronger weather extremes. However, when PVy is much smaller and below a critical threshold under much stronger winter Arctic warming of global warming, atmospheric blocking becomes locally less persistent and shows a much stronger westward movement, which acts to inhibit local cold extremes.Such a case does not happen in summer under global warming because PVy fails to fall below the critical threshold. Thus, our theory indicates that global warming can render summer-blocking anticyclones and mid-to-high latitude heatwaves more persistent, intense, and widespread.

文摘Water electrolyzers play a crucial role in green hydrogen production. However, their efficiency and scalability are often compromised by bubble dynamics across various scales, from nanoscale to macroscale components. This review explores multi-scale modeling as a tool to visualize multi-phase flow and improve mass transport in water electrolyzers. At the nanoscale, molecular dynamics(MD)simulations reveal how electrode surface features and wettability influence nanobubble nucleation and stability.Moving to the mesoscale, models such as volume of fluid(VOF)and lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)shed light on bubble transport in porous transport layers(PTLs).These insights inform innovative designs, including gradient porosity and hydrophilic-hydrophobic patterning, aimed at minimizing gas saturation. At the macroscale,VOF simulations elucidate two-phase flow regimes within channels, showing how flow field geometry and wettability affect bubble discharging. Moreover, artificial intelligence(AI)-driven surrogate models expedite the optimization process, allowing for rapid exploration of structural parameters in channel-rib flow fields and porous flow field designs.By integrating these approaches,we can bridge theoretical insights with experimental validation, ultimately enhancing water electrolyzer performance, reducing costs, and advancing affordable,high-efficiency hydrogen production.

文摘To ensure the operational safety of railways in the landslide-prone areas of mountainous regions,a large-scale model test and numerical simulation were conducted to study the bending moment distribution, internal force distribution, deformation development, and crack propagation characteristics of a framed anti-sliding structure(FAS)under landslide thrust up to the point of failure. Results show that the maximum bending moment and its increase rate in the fore pile are greater than those in the rear pile, with the maximum bending moment of the fore pile approximately 1.1 times that of the rear pile. When the FAS fails, the displacement at the top of the fore pile is significantly greater, about 1.27 times that of the rear pile in the experiment.Major cracks develop at locations corresponding to the peak bending moments.Small transverse cracks initially appear on the upper surface at the intersection between the primary beam and rear pile and then spread to the side of the structure. At the failure stage, major cracks are observed at the pil-beam intersections and near the anchor points.Strengthening flexural stiffness at intersections where major cracks occur can improve the overall thrust-deformation coordination of the FAS,thereby maximizing its performance.

文摘The multi-scale modeling combined with the cohesive zone model(CZM)and the molecular dynamics(MD)method were preformed to simulate the crack propagation in NiTi shape memory alloys(SMAs).The metallographic microscope and image processing technology were employed to achieve a quantitative grain size distribution of NiTi alloys so as to provide experimental data for molecular dynamics modeling at the atomic scale.Considering the size effect of molecular dynamics model on material properties,a reasonable modeling size was provided by taking into account three characteristic dimensions from the perspective of macro, meso, and micro scales according to the Buckinghamπtheorem. Then, the corresponding MD simulation on deformation and fracture behavior was investigated to derive a parameterized traction-separation(T-S)law,and then it was embedded into cohesive elements of finite element software. Thus, the crack propagation behavior in NiTi alloys was reproduced by the finite element method(FEM).The experimental results show that the predicted initiation fracture toughness is in good agreement with experimental data.In addition,it is found that the dynamics initiation fracture toughness increases with decreasing grain size and increasing loading velocity.

文摘The acetylpolyamine oxidase(APAO),spermine oxidase(SMO),and spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase(SSAT)are pivotal enzymes in polyamine metabolism, exerting direct influence on polyamine homeostasis regulation.Dysfunctions in these enzymes are intricately linked to inflammatory diseases and cancers.Establishing their three-dimensional structures is essential for exploring enzymatic catalytic mechanisms and designing inhibitors at the atomic level. This article primarily assesses the precision of AlphaFold2 and molecular dynamics simulations in determining the three-dimensional structures of these enzymes, utilizing protein conformation rationality assessment, residue correlation matrix, and other techniques. This provides robust models for subsequent polyamine catabolic metabolism calculations and offers valuable insights for modeling proteins that have yet to acquire crystal structures.
文摘Beach groynes are structures for erosion protection along sandy coasts near inlets and can reduce the coastal erosion substantially, but open groynes cannot stop erosion completely because sand can be removed from the groyne compartments by cross-shore processes.Beach groynes should be designed with sufficient bypassing of sand to minimise erosion.Regular beach maintenance is required to keep a sufficient beach width for recreational purposes. The effectiveness of groyne compartments can be significantly improved by using T-head groynes or by using a submerged sill or breakwater in between the groynes. An economic evaluation shows that the beach maintenance costs over 50 years may be substantially higher than the construction costs of a submerged breakwater. An important parameter to be studied is the longshore transport, which requires detailed information of the wave climate, preferably based on measured data(offshore buoys)in combination with deep water wave modelling.Various models have been used to determine the net longshore sand transport and coastline changes. The design of groynes to reduce coastal erosion is illustrated by three field cases(Atlantic coast near Soulac,France;Lagos coast,Nigeria and Black Sea coast,Romania). These example cases show that beach groynes are effective structures, but sufficient bypassing of longshore sand transport is essential to minimise erosion.Regular beach fills in the groyne compartments may be required at high-energy(exposed)coasts.A submerged or emerged breakwater can be built between the groynes to protect the beach in the groyne compartments against erosion by cross-shore processes.

文摘Accurate prediction of coal reservoir permeability is crucial for engineering applications, including coal mining, coalbed methane(CBM)extraction, and carbon storage in deep unmineable coal seams.Owing to the inherent heterogeneity and complex internal structure of coal,a well-established method for predicting permeability based on microscopic fracture structures remains elusive. This paper presents a novel integrated approach that leverages the intrinsic relationship between microscopic fracture structure and permeability to construct a predictive model for coal permeability. The proposed framework encompasses data generation through the integration of three-dimensional(3D)digital core analysis and numerical simulations, followed by data-driven modeling via machine learning(ML)techniques.Key data-driven strategies, including feature selection and hyperparameter tuning, are employed to improve model performance. We propose and evaluate twelve data-driven models, including multilayer perceptron(MLP),random forest(RF),and hybrid methods. The results demonstrate that the ML model based on the RF algorithm achieves the highest accuracy and best generalization capability in predicting permeability. This method enables rapid estimation of coal permeability by inputting two-dimensional(2D)computed tomography images or parameters of the microscopic fracture structure, thereby providing an accurate and efficient means of permeability prediction.

文摘Existing sandstone rock structure evaluation methods rely on visual inspection, with low efficiency,semi-quantitative analysis of roundness, and inability to perform classified statistics in particle size analysis. This study presents an intelligent evaluation method for sandstone rock structure based on the Segment Anything Model(SAM).By developing a lightweight SAM fine-tuning method with rank-decomposition matrix adapters,a multispectral rock particle segmentation model named CoreSAM is constructed, which achieves rock particle edge extraction and type identification.Building upon this,we propose a comprehensive quantitative evaluation system for rock structure, assessing parameters including particle size, sorting, roundness, particle contact and cementation types. The experimental results demonstrate that CoreSAM outperforms existing methods in rock particle segmentation accuracy while showing excellent generalization across different image types such as CT scans and core photographs. The proposed method enables full-sample,classified particle size analysis and quantitative characterization of parameters like roundness, advancing reservoir evaluation towards more precise, quantitative, intuitive, and comprehensive development.

文摘Structure-type rockbursts frequently occur in deep tunnels, with structural planes and stress conditions being critical factors in their formation. In this study,we utilized specially developed analogous materials that exhibit the high brittleness and strength characteristics of deep hard rock to construct physical models representing different types of structural planes, including composite,exposed,non-exposed,and throughgoing structural planes.Physical simulation experiments were conducted on structuretype rockbursts in deep horseshoe-shaped tunnels, focusing on strain differentiation characteristics, critical triggering conditions, critical crack opening displacement, the incubation process, the reduction effects of structural planes on failure intensity, and formation mechanisms. These experiments were complemented by acoustic and optical monitoring,as well as discrete element numerical simulations,to provide a comprehensive analysis. The results revealed that the most significant strain heterogeneity in the surrounding rock occurs at the tip of the structural plane along the tunnel's minimum principal stress direction, driven by the combined effects of tensile and shear forces. We quantitatively determined the critical stress and strain conditions for structure-type rockbursts and evaluated the intensity of rockbursts induced by different structural planes using critical crack opening displacement(COD)values, the uniformity coefficient, and the curvature coefficient.Analysis of acoustic emission events, including frequency, amplitude, and b-value,indicated that the macro-fracture process is governed by both the principal stress differential and the characteristics of the structural plane.Furthermore, using the bearing capacity reduction coefficient,we found that exposed structural planes have the most significant weakening effect on rock mass strength, followed by non-exposed and throughgoing structural planes. The analysis of average frequency(AF)and rise angle(RA)parameters revealed a close correlation between the failure modes of structure-type rockbursts, the rock mass structure, and the stress levels. These findings provide critical theoretical support for the prediction and prevention of structure-type rockburst disasters.

文摘To mill fine and well-defined micro-dimpled structures,a machining manner of spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion, where the tool repeats the process of‘feed milling–retract–cutting feed–feed milling again’along the spiral trajectory, was proposed. From the kinematics analysis,it is found that the machining quality of micro-dimpled structures is highly dependent on the machining trajectory using spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion. To reveal this causation, simulation modelling and experimental studies were carried out.A simulation model was developed to quantitatively and qualitatively investigate the influence of the trajectory discretization strategies(constant-angle and constant-arc length)and parameters(discrete angle, discrete arc length, and pitch)on surface texture and residual height of micro-dimpled structures.Subsequently,micro-dimpled structures were milled under different trajectory discretization strategies and parameters with spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion.A comprehensive comparison between the milled results and simulation analysis was made based on geometry accuracy, surface morphology and surface roughness of milled dimples.Meanwhile, the errors and factors affecting the above three aspects were analyzed. The results demonstrate both the feasibility of the established simulation model and the machining capability of this machining way in milling high-quality micro-dimpled structures.Spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion provides a new machining way for milling micro-dimpled structures and micro-dimpled functional surfaces. And an appropriate machining trajectory can be generated based on the optimized trajectory parameters, thus contributing to the improvement of machining quality and efficiency.

文摘In this paper,to present a lightweight-developed front underrun protection device(FUPD)for heavy-duty trucks, plain weave carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP)is used instead of the original high-strength steel.First, the mechanical and structural properties of plain carbon fiber composite anti-collision beams are comparatively analyzed from a multi-scale perspective. For studying the design capability of carbon fiber composite materials,we investigate the effects of TC-33 carbon fiber diameter(D),fiber yarn width(W)and height(H),and fiber yarn density(N)on the front underrun protective beam of carbon fiber compositematerials.Based on the investigation,a material-structure matching strategy suitable for the front underrun protective beam of heavy-duty trucks is proposed.Next, the composite material structure is optimized by applying size optimization and stack sequence optimization methods to obtain the higher performance carbon fiber composite front underrun protection beam of commercial vehicles. The results show that the fiber yarn height(H)has the greatest influence on the protective beam, and theH1matching scheme for the front underrun protective beamwith a carbon fiber composite structure exhibits superior performance. The proposed method achieves a weight reduction of 55.21% while still meeting regulatory requirements, which demonstrates its remarkable weight reduction effect.
文摘In order to better understand the fatigue mechanisms of steel structures working under high temperature, a multi-scale fatigue damage model at high temperature is developed. In the developed model, the macroscopic fatigue damage of metallic materials due to the collective behavior of micro-cracks is quantified by using the generalized self-consistent method. The influence of temperature on fatigue damage of steel structures is quantified by using the previous creep damage model. In addition, the fatigue damage at room temperature and creep damage is coupled in the multi-scale fatigue damage model. The validity of the developed multi-scale damage model is verified by comparing the predicted damage evolution curve with the experimental data. It shows that the developed model is effectiveness. Finally, the fatigue analysis on steel crane runway girders (CRGs) of industrial steel melt shop is performed based on the developed model.

文摘This paper deals with the concurrent multi-scale optimization design of frame structure composed of glass or carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminates. The novel two geometrical scales optimization model provides a new opportunity for the design of composite structure in aerospace and other industries.

文摘We present an in-depth study of the failure phenomenon of solid expandable tubular (SET) due to large expansion ratio in open holes of deep and ultra-deep wells. This numerical analysis is not only beneficial for understanding the damage process of tubular materials but also effectively guides the engineering application of the SET technology.

文摘A three-dimensional plasticity model was developed and applied to metal-intermetallic laminate composites containingphases of the L12 structure. The model allows the description of the dis-tribution of the accumulated plastic strain inhomogeneities and is capable of predicting the strengthening properties andplastic behaviour of the metal-intermetallic laminate composites containing phases of the L12 structure.
文摘We formulate a macroscopic particle modeling analysis of metallic materials (aluminum and copper, etc.) based on theoretical energy and atomic geome<span>tries derivable from their interatomic potential. We also assess the effect of the order of loadings in opposite directions including yield and plastic states and find that an irreversible behavior depends on different response of the particle system between tensile and compressive loadings.

文摘Tuojiang River Basin is a first-class tributary of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River—which is the longest river in China. As phytoplankton are sensitive indicators of trophic changes inwater bodies, characterizing phytoplankton communities and their growth influencing factors in polluted urban rivers can provide new ideas for pollution control. Here,we used direct microscopic count and environmental DNA(eDNA)metabarcoding methods to investigate phytoplankton community structure in Tuojiang River Basin(Chengdu,Sichuan Province,China). The association between phytoplankton community structure and water environmental factors was evaluated by Mantel analysis.Additional environmental monitoring data were used to pinpoint major factors that influenced phytoplankton growth based on structural equation modeling. At the phylum level, the dominant phytoplankton taxa identified by the conventional microscopic method mainly belonged to Bacillariophyta,Chlorophyta, and Cyanophyta,in contrast with Chlorophyta,Dinophyceae, and Bacillariophyta identified by eDNA metabarcoding.Inα-diversity analysis,eDNA metabarcoding detected greater species diversity and achieved higher precision than the microscopic method.Phytoplankton growth was largely limited by phosphorus based on the nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratios>16:1 in all water samples.Redundancy analysis and structural equation modeling also confirmed that the nitrogen-to-phosphorus ratio was the principal factor influencing phytoplankton growth. The results could be useful for implementing comprehensive management of the river basin environment. It is recommended to control the discharge of point-and surface-source pollutants and the concentration of dissolved oxygen in areas with excessive nutrients(e.g.,Jianyang-Ziyang).Algae monitoring techniques and removal strategies should be improved in 201 Hospital,Hongrihe Bridge and Colmar Town areas.
