The previous study on modeling of the tilt rotor aircraft used to put a premium on the complicated aerodynamic computation, and the research on the motion equations is often constrained to frequently use the oversimplified 6-degree of freedom (DOF) rigid body equations. However, the transfiguration of aircraft during transition stage, is complicated due to the aerodynamic interference and the change of center of gravity (CG). Moreover, the gyroscopic moment caused by tilting the high-speed revolving rotors seriously interferes with the aircraft attitude. The above-cited 6-DOF single rigid body equations do not take the inertia coupling effects into account during transition. For this sake, the article, reckoning the body, the nacelles and the rotors to be independent entities, establishes a realistic model in the form of multi-body motion equations. First, by applying Newton's laws and angular momentum theorem to a mass of elements of the aircraft, the multi-body motion equations in inertial flame as well as in body frame are obtained by integrating over all elements. As the equations are of implicit nonlinear differential type, the consistent initial value problem should be solved. Then, a numerical simulation of the differential equations is conducted by means of the Runge-Kutta-Felhberg integral algorithm. The modeling and the simulation algorithm are verified against the data of XV-15 as an example. The model can be used in the area of flight dynamics, flight control and flight safety of tilt rotor air- craft. 展开更多

A streamwise-body-force-model (SBFM) is developed and applied in the overall flow simulation for the distributed propulsion system, combining internal and external flow fields. In view of axial stage effects, fan or compressor effects could be simplified as body forces along the streamline. These body forces which are functions of local parameters could be added as source terms in Navier-Stokes equations to replace solid boundary conditions of blades and hubs. The val- idation of SBFM with uniform inlet and distortion inlet of compressors shows that pressure performance characteristics agree well with experimental data. A three-dimensional simulation of the integration configuration, via a blended wing body aircraft with a distributed propulsion system using the SBFM, has been completed. Lift coefficient and drag coefficient agree well with wind tunnel test results. Results show that to reach the goal of rapid integrated simulation combining internal and external flow fields, the computational fluid dynamics method based on SBFM is reasonable. 展开更多

It has harmful effect on the products. Mold filling and solidification process of a cylinder body was simulated by using of Z-CAST software. The casting method was improved based on the simulation results. In order to create effective feeding passage, the structure of casting was modified by changing the location of strengthening ribs at the bottom, without causing any adverse effect on the part's performance. Inserting copper billet at suitable location of the die is a valid way to create suitable solidification sequence that is beneficial to the feeding. Using these methods, the shrinkage defect was completely eliminated at the critical location. 展开更多

Numerical simulation on the flow fields near the dimpled and the smooth revolution bodies are performed and compared by using SST k-ω turbulence model, to explain the reasons of friction and base drag reductions on the bionic dimpled surface and the control behaviors of dimpled surface to boundary layer near wall of the revolution body. The simulation results show that the dimpled surface reduces the skin friction drag through reducing the velocity gradient and turbulent intensity, and reduces the base drag through weakening the pumping action on the flow behind the revolution body caused by the external flow; the low speed rotating vortexes in the dimples segregate the external flow and the revolution body; and the low speed rotating vortexes forming in the bottom of dimples can produce negative skin friction. 展开更多

The mold filling and solidification process of a marine propeller hub were simulated using ProCAST. Three casting processes–gravity casting, centrifugal casting and low pressure casting–were compared in order to get the best process. The heat transfer coefficient of the casting/mold interface was determined using a reverse method. The simulated results of velocity, temperature and shrinkage porosity distribution were discussed in detail for the three casting processes. A smooth filling was found in all three casting processes, especially the low pressure casting exhibiting a better filling performance than the other two, but the solidification processes were different. The casting did not experience the sequential solidification, and the feeding paths were blocked, leading to shrinkage porosity defects in the riser and the bottom of the casting in gravity casting and in the upper zone of the casting in low pressure casting. While, the sequential solidification was well controlled in the solidification process of centrifugal casting, and majority of the shrinkage porosity defects can only be observed in the riser. It could be concluded that the centrifugal casting process is the most suitable casting process for the production of propeller hub body. The casting experiments verified the simulation results, and a defect-free propeller hub was obtained by centrifugal casting with a rotational speed of 150 r·min-1. 展开更多

The flight safety is threatened by the special flight conditions and the low speed of carrier-based aircraft ski-jump takeoff. The aircraft carrier motion, aircraft dynamics, landing gears and wind field of sea state are comprehensively considered to dispose this multidiscipline intersection problem. According to the particular naval operating environment of the carrier-based aircraft ski-jump takeoff, the integrated dynamic simulation models of multi-body system are developed, which involves the movement entities of the carrier, the aircraft and the landing gears, and involves takeoff instruction, control system and the deck wind disturbance. Based on Matlab/Simulink environment, the multi-body system simulation is realized. Nonlinear wave loads can induce low-frequency and high-frequency resonance motions of a moored platform in deep water. For the analysis of the nonlinear response of an offshore platform under the action of irregular waves, the most widely used method in practice is the Cummins method, in which the second-order exciting forces in the time domain are computed by a two-term Volterra series model based on incident waves, first-order body motion response, and quadratic transfer functions(QTFs). QTFs are bichromatic waves acting on a body and are computed in the frequency domain in advance. For moving bodies, QTFs are related to the first-order body response, which is to be determined in the simulation process of body motion response but is unknown in the computation procedure of QTFs. In solving this problem, Teng and Cong(2017) proposed a method to divide the QTFs into different components, which are unrelated to the body response. With the application of the new QTF components, a modified Cummins method can be developed for the simulation of the nonlinear response of a moored floating platform. This paper presents a review of the theory. 展开更多

To study the effects of factors such as electromagnetic field and electron temperature on the ion extraction characteristics (extraction time, collision loss ratio) in atomic vapor laser isotope separation (AVLIS), 2 D electron equilibrium model was used to analyze and simulate the ion extraction process. The collisions between particles mainly considered charge exchanges between isotopic ions and atoms, which were treated by using cross section. The results show that the electric field and electron temperature have significant effects on the ion extraction characteristics: the stronger the electric field is, the higher the electron temperature is; the shorter the extraction time is, the less the collision loss ratio is, and moderate constant magnetic field has few effects on them. The galvanic coupling intra-body communication (IBC) was mathematically simulated based on the proposed transfer function. Firstly, a galvanic coupling IBC circuit model was developed and the corresponding parameters were discussed. Secondly, the transfer function of the galvanic coupling IBC was derived and proposed. Finally, the signal attenuation characteristics of the galvanic coupling IBC were measured along different signal transmission paths of actual human bodies, while the corresponding mathematical simulations based on the proposed transfer function were carried out. Our investigation showed that the mathematical simulation results coincided with the measured results over the frequency range of 100kHz to 5MHz, which indicated that the proposed transfer function could be useful for theoretical analysis and application of the galvanic coupling IBC. 展开更多

Fault diagnosis studying on piston engine, crankshaft and gearbox is focused in this paper. The thrust bearing abrasion caused by axial movement of the crankshaft will affect the force of timing gears and oil pump gears, which will result in the fracture of gears, abnormal ignition, connecting rod cracking and collision of cylinder. Simulation based on CREO software is done to build three-dimensional models of crankshaft and gears of a WP10 diesel engine. The models are imported into ADAMS to complete multi-body dynamics simulations. The force analysis of gears in different kinds of axial movements is finished and variations rules of gear dynamic load is obtained. The presented results show that the crankshaft axial movement can cause overload and vibration on gears. Combined with the realistic case data, the fault feature through simulation research is validated and early warming parameters of gear fault are proposed. 展开更多

The coupled motion of two flexible bodies with different lengths immersed in moving fluid is studied numerically. The flapping frequency, flapping amplitude and average drag coefficient of each body are calculated and the influences of the arranging manner and separation distance are analyzed. In our simulation, when placed in the flow individually, the flexible body with a longer length will flap in period and the shorter one will maintain still straightly in the flow direction. The numerical results show that, two different flexible structures near placed in moving flow would strongly interact. When they are placed side by side, the existence of the stable shorter flexible body will restrain the flapping of the longer one while the existence of the longer flexible body may also induce the shorter one to flap synchronously. When placed in tandem with the shorter flexible body in upstream, the flapping of the longer one in downstream will be obviously enhanced. In the situation for the longer flexible body placed in upstream of the shorter one, the coupled flapping amplitude and average drag coefficients increase and decrease periodically with increasing the arranging space, and peak values appear as a result of the mediate of the tail wakes. 展开更多

Accurate prediction of the aerodynamic response of a compressor under inlet distortion is crucial for next-generation civil aircraft, such as Boundary Layer Ingestion(BLI)silent aircraft. Therefore, research on the Body Force(BF)model plays a significant role in achieving this objective. However, distorted inlet airflow can lead to varying operating conditions across different spatial locations of the compressor, which may cause some regions to operate outside the stability boundary.Consequently, the accuracy of BF model simulations might be compromised. To address this issue, this paper proposes a numerical simulation strategy for acquiring the steady axisymmetric three-dimensional flow field of a compressor operating at low mass flow rates, which is known as the Underlying Axisymmetric Pressure Rise Characteristic(UAPRC).The proposed simulation accounts for two different rotor speeds of a transonic compressor and identifies initial positions in the flow field where deterioration occurs based on prior experimental investigations. Moreover, simulation results are incorporated into the BF model to replicate hub instability observed in experiments.Obtained results demonstrate that this strategy provides valid predictions of the UAPRC of the compressor, thereby addressing the limitations associated with the BF model. 展开更多

The continuous approximations play a vital role in N-body simulations. We constructed three different types, namely, one-step (cubic and quintic Hermite), two-step, and three-step Hermite interpolation schemes. The continuous approximations obtained by Hermite interpolation schemes and interpolants for ODEX2 and ERKN integrators are discussed in this paper. The primary focus of this paper is to measure the accuracy and computational cost of different types of interpolation schemes for a variety of gravitational problems. The gravitational problems consist of Kepler’s two-body problem and the more realistic problem involving the Sun and four gas-giants—Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The numerical experiments are performed for the different integrators together with one-step, two-step, and three-step Hermite interpolation schemes, as well as the interpolants. 展开更多

The theoretical foundation of a new N-body simulation method for the dynamics of large numbers (N > 106) of gravitating bodies is described. The new approach is founded on the probability description of the physical parameters and a similarity method which permits a manifold reduction of the calculation time for the evolution of “large” systems. This is done by averaging the results of calculations over an ensemble of many “small” systems with total particle number in the ensemble equal to the number of stars in the large system. The method is valid for the approximate calculation of the evolution of large systems, including dissipative systems like AGN containing a supermassive black hole, accretion disc, and the surrounding stellar cluster. 展开更多
