The control parameters...A narrow strip is used to control mean and fluctuating forces on a circular cylinder at Reynolds numbers from 2.0 ×10^4 to 1.0 ×^ 10^5. The axes of the strip and cylinder are parallel. The control parameters are strip width ratio and strip position characterized by angle of attack and distance from the cylinder. Wind tunnel tests show that the vortex shedding from both sides of the cylinder can be suppressed, and mean drag and fluctuating lift on the cylinder can be reduced if the strip is installed in an effective zone downstream of the cylinder. A phenomenon of mono-side vortex shedding is found. The strip-induced local changes of velocity profiles in the near wake of the cylinder are measured, and the relation between base suction and peak value in the power spectrum of fluctuating lift is studied. The control mechanism is then discussed from different points of view.展开更多
We present a trading execution model that describes the behaviour of a big trader and of a multitude of retail traders operating on the shares of a risky asset. The retail traders are modeled as a population of “cons...We present a trading execution model that describes the behaviour of a big trader and of a multitude of retail traders operating on the shares of a risky asset. The retail traders are modeled as a population of “conservative” investors that: 1) behave in a similar way, 2) try to avoid abrupt changes in their trading strategies, 3) want to limit the risk due to the fact of having open positions on the asset shares, 4) in the long run want to have a given position on the asset shares. The big trader wants to maximize the revenue resulting from the action of buying or selling a (large) block of asset shares in a given time interval. The behaviour of the retail traders and of the big trader is modeled using respectively a mean field game model and an optimal control problem. These models are coupled by the asset share price dynamic equation. The trading execution strategy adopted by the retail traders is obtained solving the mean field game model. This strategy is used to formulate the optimal control problem that determines the behaviour of the big trader. The previous mathematical models are solved using the dynamic programming principle. In some special cases explicit solutions of the previous models are found. An extensive numerical study of the trading execution model proposed is presented. This study explored the internal mechanism of the effect of mindfulness on life satisfaction from the perspective of logotherapy theory and achievement attribution theory.We recruited 1021 college students using a com...This study explored the internal mechanism of the effect of mindfulness on life satisfaction from the perspective of logotherapy theory and achievement attribution theory.We recruited 1021 college students using a combination of random sampling and cluster sampling.They completed the relevant questionnaire.The results showed that,from the perspective of logotherapy theory,wefind that the presence of meaning in life is an important intermediary between mindfulness and life satisfaction.From the perspective of achievement attribution theory,we found that internal control was an important intermediary between mindfulness and life satisfaction.In addition,we also found the chain mediating path that mindfulness positively predicted life satisfaction by influencing internal control and then influencing the presence of meaning in life.This study proves for thefirst time that the theory of logotherapy and achievement attribution explain the internal mechanism of the relation of mindfulness on life satisfaction.This study provides an important reference for how to effectively improve life satisfaction from the perspective of mindfulness.展开更多

Comparing policy and means adopted by Chinese and foreign governments in macro regulation and control, we can see that the choice is different in different historical periods and the change of emphasis in macro regulation and control policy and means has the convergence tendency. We can make the following conclusion from research of the change rules of macro regulation and control means in the market economic condition of Chinese and foreign governments: supply-side structural reform in China complies with the basic rules of development of market economy.展开更多

Methods to obtain the design parameters and operations of these control charts are discussed. Performances of the proposed charts are compared with some existing control charts. Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by the chikungunya virus(CHIKV).It is characterized by acute onset of high fever,severe polyarthralgia,myalgia,headache,and maculopapular rash.The virus is rapidl...Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral infection caused by the chikungunya virus(CHIKV).It is characterized by acute onset of high fever,severe polyarthralgia,myalgia,headache,and maculopapular rash.The virus is rapidly spreading and may establish in new regions where competent mosquito vectors are present.This research analyzes the regulatory dynamics of a stochastic differential equation(SDE)model describing the transmission of the CHIKV,incorporating seasonal variations,immunization efforts,and environmentalffuctuations modeled through Poisson random measure noise under demographic heterogeneity.The model guarantees the existence of a global positive solution and demonstrates periodic dynamics driven by environmental factors.A key contribution of this study is the formulation of a stochastic threshold parameter,R0L,which characterizes the conditions for disease persistence or extinction under random environmental inffuences.Although our analysis highlights age-speciffc heterogeneities to illustrate differential transmission risks,the framework is general and can incorporate other vulnerable demographic groups,ensuring broader applicability of the results.Using the Monte Carlo Markov Chain(MCMC)method,we estimate R0L=1.4978(95%C-I:1.4968–1.5823)based on CHIKV data from Florida,USA,spanning 2005 to 2017,suggesting that the outbreak remains active and requires targeted control strategies.The effectiveness of immunization,screening,and treatment strategies varies depending on the prioritized demographic groups,due to substantial differences in CHIKV incidence across age categories in the USA.Numerical simulations were conducted using the truncated Euler–Maruyama method to robustly capture the stochastic dynamics of CHIKV transmission with Poissondriven jumps.Employing an iterative approach and assuming mild convexity conditions,we formulated and solved a parameterized near-optimality problem using the Ekeland variational principle.Ourffndings indicate that vaccination campaigns are signiffcantly more effective when focused on vulnerable adults over the age of 66,as well as individuals aged 21 to 25.Furthermore,enhancements in vaccine effcacy,diagnostic screening,and treatment protocols all contribute substantially to minimizing infection rates compared to current standard approaches.These insights support the development of targeted,age-speciffc public health interventions that can signiffcantly improve the management and control of future CHIKV outbreaks.展开更多
