In this study,a multi-physics and multi-scale coupling program,Fluent/KMC-sub/NDK,was developed based on the user-defined functions(UDF)of Fluent,in which the KMC-sub-code is a sub-channel thermal-hydraulic code and the NDK code is a neutron diffusion code. The coupling program framework adopts the"master-slave"mode,in which Fluent is the master program while NDK and KMC-sub are coupled internally and compiled into the dynamic link library(DLL)as slave codes. The domain decomposition method was adopted,in which the reactor core was simulated by NDK and KMC-sub,while the rest of the primary loop was simulated using Fluent.A simulation of the reactor shutdown process of M2LFR-1000 was carried out using the coupling program, and the code-to-code verification was performed with ATHLET,demonstrating a good agreement, with absolute deviation was smaller than 0.2%.The results show an obvious thermal stratification phenomenon during the shutdown process, which occurs 10 s after shutdown, and the change in thermal stratification phenomena is also captured by the coupling program. At the same time, the change in the neutron flux density distribution of the reactor was also obtained. 展开更多

Considering the influence of hydrogen gas generated during electrochemical machining on the conductivity of electrolyte, a two-phase turbulent flow model is presented to describe the gas bubbles distribution. The k-e turbulent model is used to describe the electrolyte flow field. The Euler–Euler model based on viscous drag and pressure force is used to calculate the twodimensional distribution of gas volume fraction.A multi-physics coupling model of electric field,two-phase flow field and temperature field is established and solved by weak coupling iteration method. The numerical simulation results of gas volume fraction, temperature and conductivity in equilibrium state are discussed. The distributions of machining gap at different time are analyzed. The predicted results of the machining gap are consistent with the experimental results, and the maximum deviation between them is less than 50 lm. 展开更多

This study presents a new method to solve the difficult problem of precise machining a non-cylinder pinhole of a piston using embedded giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) in the component. We propose the finite element model of GMM smart component in electric, magnetic, and mechanical fields by step computation to optimize the design of GMM smart com-ponent. The proposed model is implemented by using COMSOL multi-physics V3.2a. The effects of the smart component on the deformation and the system resonance frequencies are studied. A transient multi-physics model incorporated with an electromagneto-thermomechanical coupling is developed to capture the multi-field behavior of a single-pancake(SP)insert no-insulation(NI)coil in a hybrid magnet during the charging and discharging processes. The coupled problem is resolved by means of the finite element method(FEM)for the magneto-thermo-elastic behaviors and the Runge-Kutta method for the transient responses of the electrical circuits of the hybrid superconducting magnet system. The results reveal that the transient multi-physics responses of the insert NI coil primarily depend on the charging/discharging procedure of the hybrid magnet. Moreover,a reverse azimuthal current and a compressive hoop stress are induced in the insert NI coil during the charging process, while a forward azimuthal current and a tensile hoop stress are observed during the discharging process. The induced voltages in the insert NI coil can drive the currents flowing across the radial turns where the contact resistance exists. Therefore,it brings forth significant Joule heat, causing a temperature rise and a uniform distribution of this heat in the coil turns.Accordingly,a thermally/mechanically unstable or quenching event may be encountered when a high operating current is flowing in the insert NI coil.It is numerically predicted that a quick charging will induce a compressive hoop stress which may bring a risk of buckling instability in the coil, while a discharging will not.The simulations provide an insight of hybrid superconducting magnets under transient start-up or shutdown phases which are inevitably encountered in practical applications. 展开更多

Uneven frost heave deformation can shorten the operational lifespan of foundation engineering.Clarifying the mechanisms of uneven frost heave facilitates the targeted mitigation of frost damage. This study focused on a water conveyance channel in Jilin Province, northern China, and found after monitoring that the frost heave at the channel bottom lining exceeded that at the crest by 44.5 mm,with the freezing temperature at the bottom being over 2℃lower than that at the crest.Soil columns with an initial gravimetric moisture content of 12%,16%,18%,and 20%were then prepared. The effects of temperature and moisture content on frost heave were analyzed under two freezing conditions(-5℃and-10℃)through unidirectional freezing tests.A coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)frost heave model, validated by the test results, was further established. In the soil with an initial moisture content of 20%,the formation of ice lenses associated with substantial water migration contributed to a large temperature gradient, which can jointly induce frost heave.Under the-10℃condition,the temperature gradient in the soil column with a 20%initial moisture content reached 0.84℃/cm,the total water migration reached 10.72%,and the frost heave deformation was 1.86 mm.The THM coupling results indicated that, under the interaction of a large temperature gradient and moisture accumulation, the volumetric ice content remained high in the bottom soil during freezing and peaked at 0.36.The frost damage to the bottom soil was severe, and the maximum deformation reached 57 mm. 展开更多

The numerical simulation of the fluid flow and the flexible rod(s)interaction is more complicated and has lower efficiency due to the high computational cost.In this paper,a semi-resolved model coupling the computational fluid dynamics and the flexible rod dynamics is proposed using a two-way domain expansion method. The gov-erning equations of the flexible rod dynamics are discretized and solved by the finite element method, and the fluid flow is simulated by the finite volume method. The interaction between fluids and solid rods is modeled by introducing body force terms into the momentum equations.Referred to the traditional semi-resolved numerical model,an anisotropic Gaussian kernel function method is proposed to specify the interactive forces between flu-ids and solid bodies for non-circle rod cross-sections.A benchmark of the flow passing around a single flexible plate with a rectangular cross-section is used to validate the algorithm.Focused on the engineering applications,a test case of a finite patch of cylinders is implemented to validate the accuracy and efficiency of the coupled model. 展开更多

Influence of spin–orbit coupling on spin-polarized electronic transport in magnetic semiconductor nanowires with nanosized sharp domain walls is investigated theoretically. It is shown that the Rashba spin–orbit coupling can enhance significantly the spin-flip scattering of charge carriers from a nanosized sharp domain wall whose extension is much smaller than the carrier's Fermi wavelength. When there are more than one domain wall presented in a magnetic semiconductor nanowire, not only the spin-flip scattering of charge carriers from the domain walls but the quantum interference of charge carriers in the intermediate domain regions between neighboring domain walls may play important roles on spin-polarized electronic transport, and in such cases the influences of the Rashba spin–orbit coupling will depend sensitively both on the domain walls' width and the domain walls' separation. 展开更多

A domain decomposition algorithm coupling the finite element and the boundary element was presented. It essentially involves subdivision of the analyzed domain into sub-regions being independently modeled by two methods, i.e., the finite element method (FEM) and the boundary element method (BEM). The original problem was restored with continuity and equilibrium conditions being satisfied on the interface of the two sub-regions using an iterative algorithm. To speed up the convergence rate of the iterative algorithm, a dynamically changing relaxation parameter during iteration was introduced. An advantage of the proposed algorithm is that the locations of the nodes on the interface of the two sub-domains can be inconsistent. The validity of the algorithm is demonstrated by the consistence of the results of a numerical example obtained by the proposed method and those by the FEM, the BEM and a present finite element-boundary element (FE-BE) coupling method. 展开更多

The quantum chromodynamics(QCD) coupling αs is the most important parameter for achieving precise QCD predictions. By using the well measured effective coupling α_(s)^(g)1)(Q) defined from the Bjorken sum rules as a basis, we suggest a novel self-consistency way to fix the αs at all scales: The QCD light-front holographic model is adopted for its infrared behavior, and the fixed-order p QCD prediction under the principle of maximum conformality(PMC) is used for its high-energy behavior. Using the PMC scheme-and-scale independent perturbative series, and by transforming it into the one under the physical V scheme, we observe that a precise αs running behavior in both the perturbative and nonperturbative domains with a smooth transition from small to large scales can be achieved. 展开更多

The precise tuning of magnetic nanoparticle size and magnetic domains, thereby shaping magnetic properties. However, the dynamic evolution mechanisms of magnetic domain configurations in relation to electromagnetic(EM)attenuation behavior remain poorly understood. To address this gap,a thermodynamically controlled periodic coordination strategy is proposed to achieve precise modulation of magnetic nanoparticle spacing. This approach unveils the evolution of magnetic domain configurations, progressing from individual to coupled and ultimately to crosslinked domain configurations.A unique magnetic coupling phenomenon surpasses the Snoek limit in low-frequency range, which is observed through micromagnetic simulation. The crosslinked magnetic configuration achieves effective low-frequency EM wave absorption at 3.68 GHz,encompassing nearly the entire C-band.This exceptional magnetic interaction significantly enhances radar camouflage and thermal insulation properties.Additionally,a robust gradient metamaterial design extends coverage across the full band(2–40 GHz),effectively mitigating the impact of EM pollution on human health and environment. This comprehensive study elucidates the evolution mechanisms of magnetic domain configurations, addresses gaps in dynamic magnetic modulation, and provides novel insights for the development of high-performance,low-frequency EM wave absorption materials. 展开更多

However, these complex issues have not been perfectly solved due to a large number of nonlinear factors, e.g. forces nonlinearity, mooring nonlinearity, motion nonlinearity and so on. This paper investigates the coupled effects through the numerical uncoupled model, mooring coupled model and fully coupled model accounting mooring and risers based on a novel deep draft multi-spar which is especially designed for deepwater in 2009. The numerical static-offset, free-decay, wind-action tests are executed, and finally three hours simulations are conducted under 100-year return period of GOM conditions involving wave, wind and current actions. A dam-reservoir system subjected to an earthquake is a nonlinear system, because the fluid equations are always nonlinear regardless of the linear or nonlinear model used for the dam body. Therefore, transient analysis is necessary. In this study, dam-reservoir interaction during earthquake excitation was modeled by utilizing coupled finite element equations based on the Eulerian approach. Direct computing of the one-way coupling technique was used to solve the coupled equations. This technique is based on a simple assumption that the fluid hydrodynamic pressure is applied to the dam body while the deformation of the dam has no influence on the water field. Seismic response analysis of the Sonla concrete gravity dam constructed in Sonla Province, Vietnam was carried out as a verification example. The results of the methodology introduced are in close agreement with results of the iterative method and the solution procedure is found to be less time-consuming than that of the iterative method. This method is very convenient and can be easily implemented in finite element programs with fluid-structure interaction modules. 展开更多

As the power transmission system of an aircraft,a hydraulic pipeline system is equivalent to the " blood vessel" of the aircraft. With the development of aircraft hydraulic system to high pressure, high speed and high power ratio, the fluid-structure interaction vibration mechanism of hydraulic pipeline is more complex and the influence of friction coupling on vibration cannot be ignored. The fluid-structure interaction of hydraulic pipeline will lead to system vibration, lower reliability of system operation and even pipeline rupture. Taking a hydraulic pipeline of C919 aircraft wingtip as the research object,a 14-equation model of fluid-structure interaction vibration considering friction coupling effect is established in this paper. The effects of friction and fluid parameters on the pipeline fluid-structure interaction vibration characteristics are studied and verified by experiments. The research results will provide theoretical guidance for the analysis of the pipeline fluid-structure interaction vibration and have important theoretical significance and great engineering value for promoting the localization process of large aircraft. 展开更多

The electrical performance of radomes on high-speed aircraft can be influenced by the thermal and mechanical loads produced during high-speed flight, which can affect the detection dis-tance and accuracy of the guidance system. This paper presents a new method that uses the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD)method to calculate the electrical performance of radomes under Thermo-Mechanical-Electrical(TME)coupling.This method can accurately characterize the effects of material dielectric temperature drift and structural deformation on the electrical performance of the radome under flight conditions, enabling high-precision full-wave calculations of the broadband electrical performance of the radome. The method initiates by utilizing a Finite Element Grid Model(FE-GM)of the radome to sequentially acquire the radome's response temperature field and structural deformation field through thermal and mechanical simulations.Subsequently, spatial mapping techniques are developed to accurately incorporate the dielectric temperature drift and structural deformation of the radome into its Yee grid Electromagnetic(EM)simulation model.A verification case was designed to test the proposed method, and the results confirmed its high computational accuracy.Additionally, the effectiveness and necessity of the method were further demonstrated by analyzing the electrical performance of a fused silica ceramic radome used on a high-speed aircraft. 展开更多
