Synchronizing the time of the satellites in a cluster is important for both cluster sensing capabilities and its autonomous operating. However, the existing time synchronization methods are not suitable for microsatellite cluster, because it requires too many human interventions and occupies too much ground control resource. Although, data post-process may realize the equivalent time synchronization, it requires processing time and powerful computing ability on the ground, which cannot be implemented by cluster itself. In order to autonomously establish and maintain the time benchmark in a cluster, we propose a compact time difference compensation system(TDCS), which is a kind of time control loop that dynamically adjusts the satellite reference frequency according to the time difference. Consequently, the time synchronization in the cluster can be autonomously achieved on-orbit by synchronizing the clock of other satellites to a chosen one's. The experimental result shows that the standard deviation of time synchronization is about 102 ps when the carrier to noise ratio(CNR) is 95 d BHz, and the standard deviation of corresponding frequency difference is approximately0.36 Hz.展开更多

Through constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and applying the theory of the Kronecker product of matrices and the linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, several novel sufficient conditions for cluster exponential synchronization are obtained. These cluster exponential synchronization conditions adopt the bounds of both time delay and its derivative, which are less conservative. We investigate bursting synchronization in a clustered neuronal network. A transition to mutual-phase synchronization takes place on the bursting time scale of coupled neurons, while on the spiking time scale, they behave asynchronously. This synchronization transition can be induced by the variations of inter- and intra coupling strengths, as well as the probability of random links between different subnetworks. Considering that some pathological conditions are related with the synchronization of bursting neurons in the brain, we analyze the control of bursting synchronization by using a time-periodic external signal in the clustered neuronal network, Simulation results show a frequency locking tongue in the driving parameter plane, where bursting synchronization is maintained, even in the presence of external driving. Hence, effective synchronization suppression can be realized with the driving parameters outside the frequency locking region.展开更多

Time synchronization assures that all the sensor nodes in wireless sensor network have the same clock time. There are various applications such as seismic study, military applications, pollution monitoring where sensor nodes require synchronized time. Time synchronization is mandatory for many wireless sensor networks protocols such as MAC protocols and also important for TDMA scheduling for proper duty cycle coordination. Time synchronization is a stimulating problem in wireless sensor networks because each node has its own local clock which keeps on varying due to variation in the oscillator frequency. The oscillator frequency is time varying due to ambient conditions which leads to re-synchronization of nodes time and again. This re-synchronization process is energy consuming whereas energy is constraints in WSN. This paper proposes a novel cluster based time synchronization technique for wireless sensor networks in which cluster head rotation is based on minimum clock offset. Simulation results based on energy analysis of the proposed model demonstrate that proposed novel cluster based time synchronization technique reduces the energy consumption and also the synchronization error compared with other existing protocols.展开更多

In L-SYNC, the effectiveness of the routing algorithm for the synchronization precision of two remote nodes was considered. Clustering in L-SYNC is according to larger degree techniques. The stable structures of Al3, Al4, Al6, Al13, Al19 clusters were confirmed to be triangle, rhombus, octahedron, icosahedron and double icosahedron, respectively. For Al6 and Al19 clusters there are metastable structures of parallelogram and octahedron, respectively, whereas in the Al3, Al4 and Al13 clusters, no metastable configuration are validated. A large energy gap and a low energy barrier between the parallelogram and the octahedron of the Al6 cluster indicate the transformation from its metastable configuration to stable octahedron to be rather easy. By contrast, a small energy gap and a high energy barrier between the stable and metastable structures of Al19 cluster mean its configuration evolution from the octahedron to the double icosahedron occurs hardly, therefore the metastable octahedron configuration of Al19 cluster can be extensively detected in experiments and simulations.展开更多
